Had a great brunch with my BFF. Although it was raining, it was still super fun. Not really knowing what to expect, we entered through the patio and waited for our seats. Let me just say the patio was popping! Apparently, a birthday party was being prepared inside and outside. Inside was just as fun! The music was good and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I'd say the atmosphere was upbeat and leaves you ready for the day, unless of course the food gives you the 'itis'. The only problem I had was the high seating of the chairs during my visit. However, there are some low tables but they were in use due to the party. Due to the rain, it did get a little cozy inside, but no one seemed to care. It was like we are one big happy family. The customer experience was nothing short of excellent! The servers, security, bartenders and all staff was kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the overall restaurant and menu. Parking was difficult and a nuisance with so many places in the close proximity and street limitations alongside no valet but post the experience, I decided to look pass the parking. Super cute lounge and although I don't hookah, they had that option but I can't rank the quality. The shrimp grits was good but my friend got the snapper bites and she was very disappointed. The fries were tasteful also. I got the Miss Shirley and it was good but had an after taste of medicine. The sneaky link drink was good but the name was a turnoff for me lol, but that's my opinion. The Savoy @ Emancipation I recently visited this club and I was in high spirits when I arrived. I proceeded to order food and drinks. I ordered 2 orders of wings, sliders and empanadas along with 6 drinks. The bartender was friendly enough as to be expected. She handed me the bill and it was $179.01. Yes, I viewed the prices of the food before ordering and saw that they were overpriced but that was a sacrifice I was willing to pay. When I continued to view the receipt, I saw that each drink was $11.00. I still didn't trip but couldn't yet understand why the bill was so high until I saw the end and it had a service fee for 20% of the bill. My actual bill was $135.97. They gave me a service fee of $27.19, state tax 8.50, city tax 1.50, special tax 1.03, and beverage tax of 4.96. Since when we are paying city tax and what is the special tax, can you be more specific please because that can be one of those things where you can say pennies add up and the owner just wants extra to be greedy. The food isn't 5 star to be charging such overpriced food. They have the same prices and maybe higher the same price of a good meal at a steakhouse and maybe better. They also serve the food out of a paper box. The 6 piece wing was 17.99 each and ask why was it so expensive and the bartender said "Oh that's because you have fries with it". What the devil kind of fries are they? Are they sprinkled with gold salt? Since I had a dispute, the bartender went over to the manager. They talked and he came over to me and said that the 20% percent is on every bill and it goes to the house. I said that the last time I checked tipping was voluntary and not forced on me by calling it a service fee. My daughter asked is that in writing? Did establishment inform the customer about these fees that goes to the whole house? He repeated that this fee went to the whole house. I said that the whole house didn't take my order. I am thinking that someone needs to be let go if I am going to have to tip every employee because I chose this establishment to order some food and drinks. I liked the atmosphere but as far as food, empanada was good but steak burgers were so so because it doesn't have lettuce tomatoes and pickles. Just meat and cheese with the "fries on the side " . Which btw were whataburger fries. After me and manager going back and forth, I said well cancel the whole order then. Tune change. The manager said that he would take it off. Now attitude change, from bartender. She was hot as fish grease and walked away from the bar. Understanding must be made to the bartender that this is MY money. I will choose to spend it the way I want to. I am not going to be forced into anything and this includes "service fee" aka the tip. Be mad and kinda all right with her being mad because this is what I was feeling when the owner forces me to pay a service fee and bartender is saying " customer is taking my money and I am saying her boss is taking MY money. So said all this to WATCH YOUR MONEY MAN. Now meanwhile while we waiting on our food now my daughter is leery about spitting on or in our food because we didn't want to pay mandatory service fees. So, look at your receipt. read more

I am pleasantly surprised at The Savoy. Turn up brunch in Third Ward without the section culture that's taking over Houston. We were late for our reservation by 30 minutes. Hostess at the door didn't want to sit us because the grace period had elapsed. Fair. But they had tables open and her colleague was more than willing to get us sat before I could even finish ordering my drink at the bar. Food was tasty. I had the croissant sandwich. Bacon was just right, eggs not powdered. And it came with a side of fruit. And it wasn't just a bunch of cheap melons. I had blackberries and mango! TVs were big. DJ was on it. I decided to pay for parking but my friends selected street parking. Upon arrival you have your bags checked. Afterwards you are greeted with a waitress who can help find seating for and your crew. There was 6 of us so we needed a decent sized table. This establishment plays 90s, early 2000s and new age hip hop and R&B. We ordered hookah and a round of several drinks but specifically the margaritas stole the show. I also ordered the lamb sliders with French fries which came with a chipotle sauce and ketchup. So I just left The Savoy and it was exceptional , we actually did not plan on coming here, but after leaving several spots for lack of service since we didn't have reservations. We ran into this spot and we're pleased . I was in a party of three and we were seated immediately on the patio . The patio was shaded and the aesthetics were so chic and IG-worthy. Within no time we were greeted by a waitress who took our orders. I got a Moscow mule that was tasty and strong and ordered the chicken and French toast with a side of cheese eggs and hash browns with cheese. I'll be honest, my friend said her hash browns tasted burnt but mines were good. The eggs were perfect, the French toast was tasty,but honestly I haven't tasted the chicken yet because I got full,I'll warm it up later lol. But yes this place was a vibe,will definitely be back. I was ready to enjoy this place for hhr after a long work week. We went Fri around 5. Parking: basically just street parking. They had a small lot that said valet but there were no attendants and it was blocked off. Self seating but a lot of the chairs looked uncomfortable or were awkwardly placed. We opted for a half booth (wooden bench). The table was far away from the seat so it made it hard to eat. Our waitress was the bartender so when it got busier we no longer saw her. We had to go inside to pay her, lucky for them we are honest people. Because she wouldn't have even known if we just left. There needs to be more fans on the patio. Also, I know we were outside but these flies were numerous and aggressive. I've eaten at other patios and you get a couple flies here and there but we literally had a swarm and couldn't leave our food or drink glass unattended. Food- The happy hour menu is a joke. They basically give you a smaller portion of the regular menu for a cheaper price. Example: sliders on the regular menu you get 3 with fries for $17. Hhr 1 slider no fries $5...? Also there are like 3 things on the hhr menu. We got wings- they were greasy, we got a dollop of ranch and they didn't look anything like the advertised videos on Instagram. The flavor wasn't bad. The fries were good. Speaking of Instagram vs reality. The drinks looked amazing, but if you go during hhr you just get an 6 oz plastic cup. My drink the 288 south was not on hhr but I still got the small @$$ cup for $14. Drinks are tasty and strong though. Music was OK. He played an upbeat song followed by a slow heartbreak song then to an oldies song. He was all over the place and it messed up the vibe. It was my first experience at The Savoy and I came with an open mind. The location is relatively convenient to where I stay. I arrived around 2:30pm on a Sunday and found it fairly easy to find free street parking. Upon entry the staff was welcoming and greeted me. I'm not much of a brunch person, however their brunch menu extends til 6pm so I had no choice. I decided to get scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. While our server was attentive, there is a clear disconnect between them and the kitchen. I was quite disappointed to wait roughly an hour for my food, especially as I saw many other tables (it was a packed house) receive many orders in advance. However nothing was more disappointing than having an appetite and finding a spider cooked into my eggs. The server was polite and understanding, and offered to remake them, however at that point, I was frustrated and distrustful. Overall the ambience was decent to watch football and listen to some old and current jams. But still extremely hot in the sun, though I appreciated the patio fans. I just don't think The Savoy will be a place I recommend nor return to anytime soon. read more

Well deserved five stars from the moment you walk in you feel welcome. It was shocking and I was a bit confused lol but absolutely loved their 1st class customer service treatment. We were given a tour and was told whatever you need just let us know. Once we were seated they brought out heaters and the waitress was ready to serve us. She was soo nice and professional. It was a group of 8 and she didn't miss a beat. Most of our group ordered the quesadillas. I ordered the fried chicken donut, but I didn't want chicken I wanted hamburger meat. So we asked if we can mix it doing one chicken one hamburger meat... they were like yes whatever you want. Lucky for me they were out of lettuce and gave me a slice of brisket. We ordered four drinks (288 South and Emancipation not pictured) We had so much fun I forgot all about taking pictures lol. Everything from the drinks to the food was delicious. From them to have only been open three weeks they are doing an amazing job and I hope they keep up that warm welcoming atmosphere One small suggestion... you should ask how a person likes their meat cooked. Let's talk about the Salmon & Grits!! The grits were some of the creamiest, homemade, perfectly salted & rich tasting Southern-style grits I have ever had. The Salmon was a generous portion seasoned down!!! It was grilled well and so savory. Try them & ask for extra sauce/gravy, thank me later! I would like to see the customer service piece be elevated a bit more. For instance, staff should be greeting every patron upon arrival and making sure their energy as waiters/hostesses matches the fun, Houston vibe that the ambiance gives. I don't want to have to hype up my waiter to get them excited about providing great service, especially when I want to tip you well (or in this case when 18% grat is added to each check). Overall, great Sunday Funday or weekday evening game day spot. I look forward to coming back to try "The Big Catch" & see if the service has improved when I visit again next month. The reason I gave this place one store is because I asked the waitress is there an additional charge for flats she said yes I asked how many it comes with she said 5 so I said no need to do all flats since it's a low number. I get my food all flats I tell her I don't want to be charge for all flats so change it she tells me it's ok it's a one dollar I get the Check and I was charged 4.25 for all flats upgrade for five wings and the wing platter itself for five wings and fries is ten so 18. My date told me it wasn't a big deal do leave it alone bc money is no issue however I told her to take it back and she said a dollar but to change damn near 5 is ridiculous and absurd. I had an amazing first experience here with my partner. The dj played good music all night and the vibe was dope. Everybody around us was having just as much of a great time. The service was great. Cheyanne was our server and she was very attentive the entire time. She quickly found us somewhere to sit outside. We got there around 10-11pm and were able to order food. We ordered the grilled lobster and mac and salmon with lamb chops on a la carte. ALLLLLL of it was beyond delicious and filling! The grilled lobster was seasoned very well and the mac was sooo creamy and appetizing. We couldn't stop eating it and plan on returning before leaving Houston. I arrived at 230 placed a drink order and food order at 240 tell me why at 340 I had to go check on the status of my food??!! The manager, Ori sweating profusely because he's walking back and forth from inside the bar to outside where the food is being made, tells me to be patient, the kitchen is backed up everyone food is late, and does NOTHING other than tell me everyone food is late(tf). Fifteen minutes later he comes back to tell me my food is on the way. It is now 440 and my food finally comes out. Tell me why they brought 3 chicken wings and fries and tell me it's more than $18 with grat and service fee. Respectfully you can take that food back to the kitchen because there's no way in hell I'm paying for food I've waited over 2 hours for. So we had to wait for them to arrange tables before starting the event. The service was okay but it was a longer than average wait for food. They offered average breakfast options to choose from.
