I had the chickpea stew ($6) which was delightful, hearty and full of bright, earthy flavors. My partner had the meat plate for 1, which featured several different meats, pickled veggies, and two types of cheese, along with crackers...mostly house-made, which was impressive. The happy hour includes $3 IPA of the day which was a solid beer. Our server was attentive and very knowledgable about the menu items. The Shambles is definitely a bit on the pricier side, so if you're looking for an uber-affordable evening out you probably won't achieve that here. There was also food and all the small plates were magic. Try the daily sausages. You better have the wagyu, melt in the mouth deliciousness. They also sell cured meats. I bought all of them. I've known Joel for a few years now and have been so excited from the second he told me he was on his own venture! Great spot with that comfortable feel that makes you want to stay. Great service and beer selection. I had a little taste of the homemade chorizo but unfortunately didn't have the time to have any real meal. But everything i saw looked amazing! They have filled a niche in Seattle that i haven't seem much. Best of luck to The Shambles! I have been here 3 times and each time it has been an amazing experience. They are constantly rotating the beer taps with the best local beers from the region. TLDR: Food was pretty good but definitely not worth the price. We came in one Sunday afternoon and service was prompt and friendly, which was a big plus. I had a bratwurst on the special menu and my boyfriend got the Reuben. He absolutely loved the mushrooms and I absolutely loved the crispy brussels sprouts but both of us were meh about the mains. My brat was really dry and I couldn't finish it. When the bill came I was pretty surprised by the total - over $80 for two mains and three beers. Beer-loving Vegetarians take note! The Shambles' menu is not just about meat. In fact the menu offers a bountiful array of vegetarian and seafood options that are spectacularly executed. We tried a range of non-meat items from the small plates and sides offerings on the menu, including the Chickpea Stew w/ romesco sauce, Crispy Brussel Sprouts w/ preserved lemon aioli, Foraged Mushrooms w/ sour ale & ghee, and Persian Beet Salad w/ yogurt and mint dressing. We also split a sandwich, the Fennel Confit on Ciabatta w/ goat cheese, curried figs and pesto. Each of these dishes was thoughtfully conceived and expertly prepared. Complex flavors without an over abundance of salt, fat or sugar. Nothing slapdash about these dishes. They easily rivaled and surpassed the frequently meager and mediocre offerings at Seattle's ubiquitous overpriced small plates and tapas establishments. What a pleasant surprise. Reasonable and balanced portions allowed us to sample many different items and leave feeling satisfied with our meal and the final bill. Even if the Shambles had no food whatsoever it would still be among my favorite new spots. Thirty-two taps make it a beer-lover's mecca. They also serve wine and craft cocktails. The comfortable beer hall ambience works well, with a mix of bar seats and communal tables. Plus no TV screens flashing mindless, distracting crap. Oh no! We might actually have meaningful social interactions over great food and beers. Perhaps even chat with fellow patrons at our communal table. The Shambles was packed on the rainy Thursday night that we visited. Clientele was in 30-50ish age range. Plentiful, friendly, knowledgeable staff members teamwork efficiently to take orders, deliver items, clear dishes, check on refills, and drop your check. No endless waiting at this place...once you have been seated. However, be advised that Shambles is hugely popular and you may have to wait for a table, especially if you arrive between 6pm and 8pm on a weekend night. A perfectly reasonable 15% gratuity is automatically added regardless of table size, with the opportunity to bump that up to 18% or 20% at the diner's discretion for exceptional service. This place is on point-- the food is outstanding! The rotating charcuterie and bone broths are really good-- and a pretty large serving as well. Also have tried their smoked sandwiches (chicken one time and duck another) and jerky and those have been very good as well. Beer list is very well chosen and lines kept clean. Service has been great as well. I haven't explored it yet, but they have a strong cocktail program going as well (I'd say almost half of the customers were having cocktails and half were having beer). The sandwich would be a lot for one person, so splitting was perfect. OMgosh, people--one of the best Reubens I've ever had. Comes with a side of blistered shishito peppers with a grapefruit aioli. Excellent meat and cheese board! The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I had the smashed potatoes as a side, they were tender and hot but not very smashed, all the same they were delicious and added to the steak rather than being a meal unto themselves like most potato sides. I also had the pleasure of ordering the pork belly which came with a carrot kimchi slaw...I had an experience with the first bite and couldn't stop eating until it was gone. We had the simple ravioli, the smoked duck sandwich and the wagyu bavette as well as the pear cobbler. All were not very delicious and overpriced. The sauce on the duck sandwich was too sweet and overpowered the other flavors. It ended up tasting like a pulled pork sandwich. The ravioli were very undercooked and the filling was bland. And the steak for the cost was not worth it. The cobbler was overbaked and the ice cream had no flavor. The drinks were good, and they have a nice beer selection. Man, I wanted to love this place, but I honestly feel like we were in a different place than what I've read on the other reviews. First off, the food took a LONG time to come out. Tables that came after us were served first. This alone wouldn't bother me, but I saw my Reuben sitting on the counter ready for the waitress to bring it over for 15 minutes and it took so long that once she did bring it over the sandwich was soggy and cold. My partner then had to wait another 15 minutes for his food to come out which makes me think they forgot his order, but there was no acknowledgement of any wrongdoing. Then the price tag for the lackluster experience was a shock. Total bummer. Visited, The Shambles, the other day with my wife. We were hungry for lunch, and had heard through the grape vine that it would be a great place for a sandwich and barley-pop. Here's what impressed us in a good way: Nice, clean, open atmosphere with community tables. Excellent selection of beers Super friendly, attentive wait staff Tasty side dishes. Mine was the braised kale (or something to that affect), my wife had the crushed potatoes (a funny, pretentious name for roasted, fingerling potatoes) Here's what did not: The chicken sandwich was a big disappointment. There were "things" inside the sandwich which could not be chewed and eaten, forcing a retrieval of said item to be placed on the plate. The "item" was pork rind for the bacon. It was as if trying to eat a piece of plastic (kitchen, are you prepping correctly?). At the table next to us, another couple ordered the same sandwich and were also doing the "retrieval" thing. As for the chicken meat, it too contained some gristle/cartilage. Anyway, it was a disappointment. At this point it's like, "come on guys, Jimmy Johns makes a better, tasty sandwich than this (albeit, different ingredients)." No "warning" that a 15% "service charge" (normally we tip in the 18-20% range) would be added to the bill. And then an explanation as to why. I'm glad your employee's are earning a minimum $15/hr, but I really don't like to also feel like I'm part of the payroll department. Also, the service charge is added before sales tax, so we're being taxed on the service charge, nice. First impressions are really important, and this days visit left an impression, but not a really great one. read more

While it may be easy to get crowded, this only adds to what you should expect to find as a part of a social experience that is genuine in every way. Home of the best charcuterie presentation that can be found anywhere that I know of, it is put over the top by amazing meat and accompaniments made in house and cheeses sourced from local producers. The sandwiches looked amazing but we stuffed ourselves on cured meats and will have to return to try out the rest of the menu. Carefully executed cocktails are available, as is a decent selection of wines. We chose to stick to a beer draft list that appeard as meticulously curated as the meats. Happy hour on Tuesday (4p-5p) saw plenty of space available for more guests to be served so don't hesitate. Couldnt have asked for a better place to treat myself to a little birthday indulgence.
