I originally went to Bird Surf shed to check out some boards (transitioning from longboard to shortboard) but they didn't have much of a selection and they told me to go here instead and also because they rent here so I could try before I buy essentially. They had several Torqs surfboards to rent so my boyfriend and I tried 2. You can rent up to like 3 boards same day for price of $10 per person which is a steal. Last time I tried before I buyed was like a $35 rental and although I did end up getting that board and love it, $10 is so cheap in comparison. All you need is to leave a credit card or ID for your rental, and just one per party. You also sign some paperwork and you're good to go. Recommend you come at 10am when they open so you get access to all of their boards. read more

My wife, sister-in-law, friend, and I came to OB to rent surfboards. This was our first time in Ocean Beach and we're fairly new surfers so it was great to be welcomed with the staff as we came in. They answered all of our newbie questions and pointed us in the right direction to try and surf. We each rented wetsuits ($15 for half-day) and a soft top surfboard ($10/hr) and we were on our way! The rentals were great quality and we enjoyed surfing for 2 hours by the dog beach (just north of lifeguard tower 5). Will definitely be back again whenever we have visitors that want to surf!! read more

The boy and I were in need of some wetsuits on account of the water being shrinkingly cold this time of year. The dudes at the shop were local, laid back and super helpful! The got us hooked up at a great price and offered up some great food suggestions from a local point of view. Great shop, great location and great prices. read more

Great customer service. They really care about you getting out in the water. Bird is an amazing fixture in San Diego's surf community. Parking will be troublesome on weekends and during tourist season. Overall, this is your go-to place for renting, buying surf boards and all related ocean gear as well as absorbing surf skills/techniques/tips. They are extremely knowledgeable and willing to help you and your friends/family enjoy surf culture, surf life. read more

The Shed OB has the best prices for surf board and wet suit rental! Their staff was very friendly, helpful and laid back. They had a great selection of boards and wet suits. They are located across the street from ocean beach, close-ish to the dock. They even have a free locker for you to store your purse/wallet while you surf! I would def rent from them again! read more

My first time going into the Shed with my 20 year old son I honestly did not know what to expect. We have rented a total of 4 times. Not just a surfboard which we did once but mainly wet suits. All of the staff are extremely accommodating and so nice! They have so much knowledge about the equipment they rent and the water conditions. I am a repeat customer for sure! Today as I browsed around, I noted that the store was overwhelmed with World Cup gear which is cool, but the merchandise that I saw, including Jerseys, t-shirts, shorts, etc., was really crowded and disorganized and it looked like the Tasmanian Devil had whirled himself through it. The aisles were also impossibly packed with stuff, and it made passing other customers an obstacle course. Anyway, I also walked past the flip-flops with the intention of possibly purchasing a new pair for the summer. Leather Olukais were almost $90, simple Havaianas were over $40, and plastic Birks were $50. Needless to say, I didn't buy any... I'll stick with my beloved & comfy Reefs that I bought last summer. Finally, I walked over the water bottles... There was one type of Stanley straws available and they were $11.25. I looked online and the same straws were originally priced at $15 , but were on sale for $9. There were no Stanley "boots" in the store, so I couldn't get one of those. They had some made by another brand, and a few Owala ones, but none of the colors worked with my tumbler. So I just decided to get the straws. I asked the cashier if they honor online prices, and she said they did which I appreciated. She looked at my phone and said, "oh these other straws are the ones that are on sale." I said, "these straws (in my hand) are the only ones that you have in the store." And then she agreed to give me the discount... Keep in mind that the prices of the same item were different online vs. in store, and then the higher priced straws were discounted even further. Buyer beware... I left the store with my straws in hand, and a burning desire not to return to this store again, unless I absolutely have to, as the shopping experience was mediocre in my opinion. Mahalo!

Has all of the usual isles and categories of stuff, from school supplies to groceries to clothes and pet food and craft kits, target has a lot of great products and deals. My only 2 gripes with this location is: 1. The parking, I hate the parking hell that OB is especially on the weekends. I'd much rather drive to another location with more parking than hunt for those elusive spots 2. There is no public bathroom, which is understandable considering it's OB but if I'm shopping around and staying hydrated and need to go pee, it's a shame that there's no where I can go ---- Didn't really interact with the workers and there is a self-check out section, but they seemed like they were fine whether they were restocking isles or helping customers check-out. ---- Overall: definitely not the best target I've been to, parking sucks, and there's no public bathroom, but if you're in walking distance of this one and you live close by it's definitely a good store to have in the area

They don't carry that type of wetsuit here, but I bought a pair of shorts. The prices are excellent here! I got home and tried the shorts on (I did not know they had a fitting room at the store!), but they didn't fit. Came back today and John assisted me in exchanging the shorts- ended up getting two pairs of shorts and paid the difference. They usually don't do exchanges or returns (probably because they have the fitting room), but did since I bought the shorts just yesterday. Derek happened to show up and asked if I had made progress on my quest for a wetsuit. I had a great experience here...Derek and John were very helpful and I will definitely be back since I recently moved here to OB. That said, the blonde lady at the cashier who was wearing a mask denied us because my friend was with me and didn't let him purchase any. We took the L gracefully and left but what annoyed me is that she allowed clearly the person ahead of us to loop and purchase again after she called him out on it. Why would you allow someone to loop and deny two new clients to buy. I'm here with my friend and we shouldn't be playing and acting like strangers so we can make a purchase. This is ridiculous. And the need to be rude about it was unnecessary especially when we were nice about it and didn't argue nor call you on the wrong you allowed just prior. We abide to rules, and that's the whole love part of this gaming community that inherently make is what it is before the scalpers you allow took over and ruin it all. But if you allow looping then turn us down, then I gotta say it was a let down and a disappointment. Because we also drove a fair amount to get there.

Well, when I stroll along any walk path, whether at Balboa Park or here in Ocean Beach's walk path, lots of people are on an e-bike and some have nearly run over me or my pup. So, as the saying goes, if you can't beat them, join them?! I walked in this shop just to look and see and get informed. My first question was what's the priciest e-bike here? Answer: the WEAPON with all the upgrades add ons will put a dent in your wallet $9,999 and you save $$$ if you get the basic for $6k. The WEAPON E-Bike, particularly known in the market as the SUPERHUMAN WEAPON, is a high-performance electric mountain bike designed for serious trail enthusiasts. Weighing approximately 55 lbs, the use of a CARBON FIBER FRAME enhances both strength and agility, allowing for a responsive riding experience. And almost all parts are a challenge to get if the part is out of stock since most suppliers are based in China, who is subject to US tariffs. E-bikes must be used on the street and NOT on walkways/pathways or you can get ticketed by police. Jared was very helpful and informative and I got to look around the shop. The shop was organized and turns out they are authorized dealers of many brands. The shop also sells more affordable $$ e-bikes and are customizable for size and features if upgrades. To conclude, I don't have FOMO and I'm still not convinced I need an e-bike but if I do get one, I would consider this shop because I got great customer service from Jared who was nice and cool. If you're interested in an e-bike this place might have what you're looking for. Recommend

On Wednesday evenings, come by for the OB Farmers Market! At times, the area can be a little rough, but in ten years of living here, I have never had an issue. Something to note is that there is only one park, so big dogs are combined with small ones. Theres a small obstacle course for dogs to jump and run through. And for the humans, there's also a few benches on the side to sit at.

There are four big pine trees with separate retaining walls around three of them for owners to sit down. With it being so close to the bay, there's often a nice breeze that goes through the park. There's no divide between small dogs and big dogs, so it's best to just keep an eye on your dog, and many owners around here are usually respectful. The street parking immediately adjacent to the park is free, however, it has a limit of 30 minutes, and the parking meter workers are strict on it if they're around. I bring my dog here around lunch time because those who live/ work in the area tend to bring their dogs during their break time and my dog gets his socialization time. They close 8am-11am MWF for maintenance/ cleaning. Currently, both gates are broken so it's not as secure as it should be, and who knows when the city will actually fix it. There're a few agility structures and a water dispenser. The children's park itself looks pretty cool for kids with a lot of structures with slides and swings. There's also another separate area with fixed exercise equipment that looks well- maintained. The water feature in the park is a water feature, not a pool.

I also see a lot of people walking their dogs here, which is something I personally like. Between the ocean views, the sunset, and all the people out enjoying the outdoors, it's just a nice place to spend part of the day.

He did half day surf camp for three days. 9-12. I took the days off work to be with him and watch. They provide wetsuits, so helpful. The Surf teachers were all so attentive and I felt safe having him there. It was 4 teachers for 11 kids. I loved hearing the teachers surf lingo. And just hanging out for the mornings with the kids and surf friends. Teachers did a morning stretch and then got them out on the water. My son was catching waves right away. Mid-day they had snack break and made sure to reapply sunscreen. Last day they had a pizza party at the surf shack for all the girls and boys. I took the family out for a weekend getaway and wanted to teach my niece to surf. From the first call, I knew we were in good hands. Travis gave us great suggestions on where to go based on our level of experience and delivered the surfboards right to the beach. Not only were the boards freshly waxed and clearly well taken care of, Travis spent extra time going over the best locations and what areas to avoid. It is clear Travis is passionate about surfing; he spent extra time giving my niece great tips to get her going and provided positive encouragement to her. Travis followed up for pick up and when we got the boards back up the beach to him, he was so kind, checking with my niece to see how she did and encourage her some more to continue surfing. Wow! Such amazing positivity, Travis is truly one of those people who never has a bad day and is a joy to be around! I've been meaning to get around to getting it patched and fixed up as a legacy board so I could hang it as a piece to remember him by. The board had significant damage to it, they were able to re-epoxy the damages and get it said and done by end of working day for $150. Incredible turn around time and price. During our break we locked up our bikes and then when we tried to unlock them the lock was stuck. Thankfully when we called the guy at the store he did a FaceTime and helped us figure out what was going on with the lock. When he walked us through on how to unlock the jammed lock, he knew exactly what was going on. Overall it was a great experience and very friendly service at a very good price. We rented the beach cruisers which is the very basic bike you can get at $15 an hour, and then helmets and baskets are extra. It was worth it and we'd rent bikes here again! Thanks San Diego Bike Rentals for adding an adventure to our vacation!
