For all you old Renoites that remember the Liberty Belle and loved their prime rib, you don't have to reminisce longingly anymore! There are special occasions (that may be occurring monthly) that you can once again partake of a spectacularly cooked prime rib in true Liberty Belle fashion at The Shoe at Washoe Golf Course. Jeff Fey of the Liberty Belle Fey's is once again in the kitchen dishing out some of the best prime rib you will ever encounter! Dinner is a set menu of spinach salad or traditional green salad with the most amazing house made spinach or blue cheese dressing, followed by a massive baked potato and vegetable accompanied with an amazingly flavorful and tender piece of prime rib. The final piece of a Liberty Belle meal, the cup of vanilla ice cream smothered in hot chocolate fudge ends the meal. I grew up going to the Liberty Belle and have such fond memories of how wonderful the meal always was, this new venue does not disappoint! The food is as special as it was when it was served on Virginia Street! The prime rib practically melts in your mouth! The only thing missing is the old wagons and original slot machines. Oh, and did I forget to mention a bottle of house red and white wine on each table to compliment the meal?!?!! All for $35!!!! The wait staff, made up of golf course attendants and golf pros, were extremely diligent and efficient. The only draw back is space is limited and the evening has to be a planned event - so check out the calendar at Washoe Golf Course and make a reservation for one of their special Liberty Belle Prime Rib Nights ... you won't be disappointed!

We got reservations for the Liberty Belle Pop-Up dinner last night and oh my god. Everything was absolutely perfect. The prime rib tasted exactly like the ones we had 13 years ago. It was absolutely perfect, I don't even really have words to describe our experience because it was other worldly and full of nostalgia. I genuinely teared up a little when we sat down to our prime rib. This was everything I could have wanted and more. I was afraid I had built it up too much in my mind and it wouldn't live up to the fantasy I created BUT IT DID! Expectations completely exceeded. The prime rib was an absolute dream. The baked potato was lovely and we got 3 ice cream scoops of sour cream on the table. The spinach salad was exactly right (with beautiful large bacon bit in it) and we were given a selection of ranch, blue cheese, balsamic vinaigrette, and the classic Liberty Belle spinach salad dressing. Our table went through three big bowls of salad. I'm honestly very emotional talking about this, words can't describe what we experienced last night. Liberty Belle was an extremely special place to my family and this brought every bit of it back. Everything was executed perfectly, service was excellent, there was even ice cream in the same little tin sherbet cups. I will be back to every one of these dinners I can get to.

From the…read moremoment you walk in, the space sets the tone with a modern industrial design, warm wood accents, soft lighting, and an open, airy layout that invites you to slow down and stay awhile. The long tables lined with bottles feel almost like a curated gallery, and the garage-style doors let in natural light that makes the whole place feel alive without being loud or overwhelming. What really stands out is how intentional everything feels, especially the wine list. It is handwritten on a large chalkboard, which gives it a relaxed, neighborhood vibe, but the selection is thoughtful and globally inspired. You will find a mix of Old World staples and boutique producers alongside well-chosen California options. The list includes everything from crisp Picpoul and Bordeaux Blanc blends to approachable Pinot Noir, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with more unique offerings like Loire Valley blends and Spanish varietals that show they are not just playing it safe. The pricing is another highlight. Most glasses land in the $9 to $15 range, which feels more than fair for the quality. They even offer a carafe option, about two and a half glasses, which is perfect for sharing and encourages you to settle in and enjoy the experience rather than rush through it. The atmosphere is exactly what you want in a wine bar. It is relaxed, conversational, and effortlessly refined. It is the kind of place where you can catch up with friends, go on a date, or simply unwind and end up staying longer than you planned. What truly made our visit exceptional was our server, Kate. She went above and beyond in every way. She was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the wines, and genuinely warm in her approach. She made thoughtful recommendations, checked in at the right moments, and created an experience that felt personal rather than transactional. It is clear she cares about what she does, and it made a great environment feel even better. Black Rock Wine Co is not trying too hard, and that is exactly why it works. It is curated, welcoming, and just the right level of elevated. We will absolutely be back.

This wine bar has a variety of wine from all around the world. Some expected wines from France and California, but also some more obscure ones from places such as Austria, so there is something for every taste! You can both order a wine by the glass or buy a bottle, which they will open for you to have onsite and that you can also take home if you don't finish it. Their prices are fair for a bottle and I wish I had done that instead of ordering a glass. The service was great! We had a huge group, yet the server was super patient and provided great recommendations to everyone. She was running around the whole time to take care of us and other patrons, but always did it with a smile on her face. I never felt rushed. They have limited snack options for purchase but allow you to bring in your own snacks as well. Finally, the space. It is on the smaller size but we were able to fit our group in without issues, while still leaving some open tables for other patrons. They also provide service on a handful of outdoor tables. The only minor issue is they had live music which felt quite loud in such a small place, but when asked, they were able to lower the volume a bit which was very nice of them!

Having just moved from California, I found myself missing the endless amounts of tasting rooms all…read moreover the area. I've been excited to start making my rounds in the Reno/Tahoe/Truckee areas and let me tell you, I started off strong! I was able to book a reservation when I Googled the tasting room. I wasn't sure I needed one so I made just to be on the safe side. Our reservation was on Saturday before Memorial day weekend so I wasn't sure how busy it would be. Our reservation was for 4:30 and we would would been okay without one. I booked a window view which gives you a nice view facing 4th street and beyond. There are so many seating options and you can't tell from the outside but there's definitely plenty of room! It looked like they have some outdoor seating as well! All three of us ordered a tasting flight and eat all shared a charcuterie board and a lobster roll. My flight was the Pinot Noir and I was very impressed! Each one was better than the last! The charcuterie board was amazing and something I'd definitely order again. The filling of the lobster roll was good but I wasn't a fan of the bread. Our server was prompt, personable, and so sweet, we enjoyed her very much! I love the different seating options and that you can look around at all the wines they have within the building. Our first experience was wonderful and I can't wait to return to try more flights and menu items. I feel this is such a nice place to celebrate, relax or enjoy a date night. Things to note: Reservations recommended in the afternoons on weekends. Kitchen doesn't open until 4:00

We had a table of 8 and received great service. I wanted a burger but the only meat burger option came with mushroom Brie, and I'm a mushroom hater so I was disappointed because I really wanted a burger. But the waiter was able to order me a veggie burger with a meat patty (I liked the toppings offered). It was delicious! I also ordered salt and vinegar tots with it and those were good too. I've never seen salt and vinegar offered before on fries/tots. Everyone else's dinner at my table looked so good. We had someone with the salmon, someone with salad and steak, someone with meatballs, someone with a Cuban. They all looked so good and made me want to try them all. I did feel my burger was a bit small but the ingredients were fresh and I really liked the flavors. I also wish it came with my arugula, I only got one tiny piece!
