Coconut Pandan dessert - A light, not too sweet, and delectable cake made with fresh coconut meat and a delicate taste of pandan.

We've been going to this Shrimp Lover location for years and have celebrated many birthdays and other special occasions here. This past weekend, we realized we haven't visited this place for several months so we decided to go for dinner. The parking here is usually packed but there's a lot of parking spaces, so it isn't too much of a bother. We were surprised to see a few changes in the store - good changes. Part of the store has been renovated to accommodate a cloud kitchen (Thai cuisine). They were closed when we came so we'll have to try next time. They've removed the signature Polaroid photos of customers who have dined with them (which I kinda missed seeing) as well as the fishing net that hung on the ceiling. These changes gave the place a cleaner look. What hasn't changed? The same friendly staff who have been there for years. Our server even recognized us and said it was nice to see us again. The menu had a little more added to it but the usual Cajun seafood boil remains the highlight. They now accept credit cards again but the option to pay cash is still available. Since there were only two of us, we only ordered the Cajun seafood boil, the Cajun fries, fresh coconut juice, and their new dessert - coconut pandan cake (this is a must try). At the end of the night, we came to an agreement that the flavor of their seafood boil is still our personal favorite. We've dined at other seafood boil places but The Shrimp Lover is one that we'll always come back to.

Delicious food, great hospitable service, and you can't beat the beautiful view and ambiance on the pier! There is a variety of food and dessert options on the menu to please everyone! Our family loves the seafood, Thai dishes, Thai tea and delicious desserts - mango sticky rice, ube coconut and pandan coconut cakes!

We were there for mother's day dinner Sunday. Good thing we made reservation for 3PM. The place was packed w line out the door! Everything was so yummy DELICIOUS! Drinks: Thai tea, Diet Coke, and beers/lime. Dinner: Pad Siu w beef (so tasty) seafood combo, 2 lbs shrimp extra spicy hot (seafood is so plump, fresh and sweet); the fish and chips w Cajun fried were the children's favorite!, crispy calamari w Cajun fries are so good; coconut seafood soup (loaded with fish), best Cajun fried rice ever. Dessert: we had coconut cream Ube cake, coconut cream macha cake and the best mango sticky rice. The service was fast, friendly and thoughtful. We were a large group of 12. I can't say enough how fun and wonderful it was there, with the beautiful view of the Redondo Beach pier. Loved the experience.

The Baseline: For a seafood boil restaurant the seafood must be fresh, the sauces must be flavorful, the experience has to make my hands saucy, and the extra offerings must accompany the main boil. Food: The shrimp and other seafood is fresh and sold per pound. It includes the sauce choice along with the options for the add-ins such as potatoes, sausages, and corn. They offer other Thai inspired offerings such as fried rice, noodles, etc. as well as fries. It actually makes it a bit eclectic but I come here for the shrimp. I get them unpeeled with the heads on so you can snap them and then suck out the juices. It is really good for that and the sauces make them better. Service: The service is fine here but I only care about the food since I am going to get messy. My water and drinks were not left empty. Ambiance: This is a good place to eat shrimp right on the Redondo Beach pier. You can view the ocean as you chow down on some shrimp and have a beverage of choice. The bathrooms are a bit left to be desired but they have a separate wash station to clean your hands.

The food here is amazing!! The pad see ew was on point. The noodles were so well cooked and chewy. The Cajun calamari was very crispy and well seasoned. The service was really good. The views of the pier are amazing they waited until to give us the seats by the window. The food came out pretty fast. One of the best Thai foods I've had in a while.

I love boiled shrimp in a bad with all the spices and ingredients. This one was not to disappointing . I grabbed a pound of shrimp with all their flavors in a bag except for the curry seasoning . First time I saw that as an option on the mix flavor , but I didn't know what to expect from that so I didn't want to ruin my experience. The sauce was very , very tasty . service was great . We came in a slower day probably before rush hour . We go to redondo beach pier often to eat shrimp downstairs at quality seafood , even though we always pass by this place to park . Never went inside till we decided to . I definitely recommend this place . One thing I do HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Pay the extra bucks for the Deveined shrimp . . There was way too much vein and it made it a bit uncomfortable to eat . Even though I extremely love the Head on . It was just way too much yucky vein on the shrimp . Also my bag felt a little short . I eat this way more than I should at times but my bagged definitely felt skimped out . . Ambiance is nice . Beautiful view of the beach .

This place is amazing!!! Let start by saying I read all the reviews and well there is allot of false comments. This is not a cash only place, they accept all major credit cards. Also, they do have bathrooms for their customers. The food is amazing and very flavor-able. Every dish is exquisite. They taste authentic. It's fresh and great portions. Here are just a couple of plates we ordered. Honestly it was so good I had to put my camera down and enjoy the food or I would have taken more pictures of some of the other plate we enjoyed. The meats are moist, tender and every bite is delicious! The service was great and they were all very attentive. The staff is very sweet and great people if you take the time to speak with them. They all greeted us with smiles. I preferred the pay upfront motto. That way when we are done and ready we can just go. I know in comments said they backward leaving a tip before getting the meal, I am sure if you ask they can remove and add at the end if you ask. Or can leave a cash tip at the end. Let's talk about the view! The sunsets are amazing here and you are practically ocean front. There is a full view of windows to enjoy the view from any table. What a romantic place for a date or great place to have an event. It's a family oriented place as well especially if you want to enjoy some good food and get out of the sun. The place definitely deserves 5 stars! Thank you Shrimp Lover for always giving a good time and full satisfied tummys'!!!

It has been a while since I've been there before the pandemic. Before you could walk in, sit down, get your menus. Look over the menu order and pay at the end. Now you look at the menu at the door pay and then take a seat other than that. The service was okay. The waitress was friendly enough. Not too attentive. The food was delicious. We order garlic noodles with chicken, chicken pad thai, and the boil bag of head off shrimp and snow crab, 3 corns and 2 potatoes cut up we enjoyed our drinks, Chardonnay, Thai tea, orange fanta and a diet coke all that $190. The shrimp and snow crab alone was $56.99 for 1.5 lb which was 2 clawsThe place is still nice and clean. Sitting by the water was wonderful and walking along the pier.

Walked in & was immediately greeted by the person at the register. They have the menu to the right of the entrance & laid out on the table where the register is. We ordered at the register first & then we were directed to our table. These two plates were shared between two and my favorite of was the Chow Mein w added shrimp as our protein. The entire plate was delicious but I really enjoyed the amount of veggies. I felt the cilantro added a refreshing taste to it all and the cabbage side was a great addition that offered a different texture from the noodles, veggies & shrimp. The Ocean plate included calamari, fried fished and fried shrimp + I believe it was cajun seasoned fried w a side of ranch & ketchup that was not pictured. That too was good. I enjoyed my lunch here & I'm thankful for the welcoming service & food.

I love it here ! This is definitely my go-to place at Redondo Beach! I've heard that there are other great places at the pier, and personally... I didn't like them. From the shacks to the formal attire locations - this is the best. It feels like home, everyone is so welcoming, there's plenty of space to bring the whole family. Cash only though! We have tried the coconut water, the Cajun shrimp with rice , the seasoned fries and it's all finger licking worthy ! Parking is easy, there's. Large parking lot where you put your approximate time at the pier and the rest is taken care of. So put on the bib and come grab some delicious Cajun shrimp and bring the family!

    Amazing oysters

Amazing food and the service was phenomenal! Staff was very friendly...........,.........................

Service nine out of 10 and prime location. But..... food was definitely overall below average. Cajun garlic butter shrimp was average at best. And garlic noodle tasted like it was instant box junk. We notified our waitress, but she seemed like she didn't know what to do. Now I can check it off my list. Definitely not a diamond in the rough, unfortunately.

The best tasty garlic bread ever!!

Bon Chance et Prospérité!!! Ragin' Cajun looks as though it were plucked right out of the Bayou Tèche in Southern Louisiana. I could be somewhere on a back road near Saint Martinville. The owner was in her Mardi Gras best in shades of purple, gold, and green on this Tuesday the day before Ash Wednesday. Parking lot has over grown plantings that also feels Southern. Kinda charmingly ramshackled, self consciously kitschy to perhaps reference itself to the rightfully proud "Coonass" culture. 1) Cajun Fried Chicken: "Perfectly seasoned and cooked with our own secret spices." Very delicately seasoned unlike the bold flavors of Cajun spice mix added in when I ate fried chix near West Feliciana Parish, LA. But the buttermilk marinade made the meat soft, moist except the breast which in most cases is almost always drier. The thigh has a combination of lush fat & plush, Jidori-like meat that was impressive. I wish I could only order the thighs. However, the menu says "no substitutions" which I respect. Sides: a) Delightful Hush Puppies like buttermilk donut holes except pleasantly extra crispy almost crunchy on the outside and cakey inside when hot from the frier. Almost subliminal chicken fat flavour as though it were fried in the same oil to fry chicken. b) Corn Bread is moist, dense, cakey. Probably has a bit of wheat flour, and not the crumbly pure corn meal type. 2) Crawfish Étouffée Combo: a) Crawfish Étouffée has a great buttery, suave, smooth roux with subtle Cajun Mirepoix contrasting well with the chewy Crawfish tails. Of the 3, the Étouffée was the most sophisticated. b) Gumbalaya with the same dry, shredded fibrous breast meat absorbing Gumbo soup which had very little Umami. A dash of Cajun Power Lightin' Strikes with a sharp gastrique pepped up the Gumbo enough. c) Red Beans & Rice with that earthy legume scent & rather bland yet porky Sausage was good. When the Cajun Power Garlic sauce was judiciously applied, it kicked this dish up a notch. All the above was served with very soft, well sauced rice. 3) Butter Cake: Heated, soft, gooey, mushy w/ nice light, toasty caramel taste, soothingly butter scented, rounded flavours. Dollop of good dairy scented vanilla ice cream, and drizzling of fruity strawberry sauce. Perfect for those with a major sweet tooth. 1-3a) Iced Tea and lots of it to slake the thirst after 1 1/2 hours of driving to Redondo Beach and to clear my palate during a massive meal of which I am not complaining. MJ née Australia was friendly and convivial, and conveyed a warm "Laissez les bons temp rouler." It's a little piece of Lafayette in Redondo Beach. 3+/4- stars
