We had a pleasant weekday lunch at the Silos. The menu is fairly standard fare; I had a hamburger and my dining companion tried the Reuben. My hamburger was good, but was served almost past well done despite requesting it cooked to medium. The Reuben was excellent. We both tried the fries, extra crispy. They arrived hot and were very tasty. The interior of the restaurant is definitely on the quirky side. The restaurant is, after all, built from two grain silos. I thought it added to the experience. We enjoyed the BYO on pizza it's a great family friendly restaurant! Serves well needs to step up, but it could also be the kitchen is not running the fastest! Management needs to step up ! Maybe be on the floor and see what's going on ! Also maybe have a screen for football games and serve wings and nachos on Sunday or Monday night football!!! Once again, Yelp, where is my review? Since you keep deleting them, I will repost, but shorter. The food was okay, some of it seemed premade, like it had come from Sam's Club and been reheated. My pizza was good, fresh, and well-made. I had a hard time not devouring the whole thing, but I managed to take some of it home. Our waiter seemed to be running the whole place alone and covering the bar. Still, he hustled around and took good care of everyone. Our seating area was upstairs; note that there is no elevator. The Silos restaurant is one of the largest and most unique dining establishments in Oriental NC, especially based on the fact it was created from 2 silos. This place bares a strong resemblance to a hunting cabin, with a solid wood interior and wooden furniture throughout. You definitely can't help but feel that small town vibe, while watching the hustling and bustling staff bring you the wonderful service they provide so well. It's a clamorous environment. Unfortunately, not every entree leaves a very good first impression and the staff know which ones they are so be sure to ask. The ravioli may come with a homemade marinara sauce, which I am still on the fence about, but the ravioli itself is far from homemade. Lacking any character and cold in the center, this was not the entree for me. They did however have a good manicotti that I was able to sample, and that dish was not served cold. Cheers! read more

Have been going to Silos for 14 years, but have not eaten there for about 3 years due to food going downhill. Got a thin crust deluxe pizza last night and it was not good. The crust was mushy, almost like it was a 10" tortilla. The whole point of a thin crust is for it to be crispy. Toppings were good, cheese only ok. My parents have a beach house in Oriental. I've driven by Silos many times, but this was my first time giving it a go. First, I love its unique and true to name architectural design. I mean it is literally two silos with a little main entry building in-between. We called in our order and took it to go, but enjoyed looking at the interior while waiting to pay. It was simple and causal with records, guitars, and other musical memorabilia covering all the walls and some ceilings. Looked like a chill place to enjoy some pizza and beers, I will return to dine in on a future visit to Oriental. We ordered some of the bruschetta (French bread slices, Parmesan cheese, fresh tomato, basil, balsamic glaze) as a appetizer. The French bread was nice with mix of soft and crispy texture and I liked their balsamic glaze. We also shared a Caesar salad (Fresh Romaine, shredded Parmesan, croutons) it's as pretty basic, but filled the need for some roughage. For pizzas we got the Veggie Pizza (Onions, green peppers, mushrooms, olives, tomato, garlic) and the White Pizza (Parmesan sauce, garlic, basil, tomato, Mozzarella and Provolone cheese) both in Large pizza size. Each had 8 nice sized slices and felt the both pizzas were nicely prepared. The crust was bubbling and pillowy, which I was very happy with as I prefer a softer crust. But the pizza slices still had some structure when you pick them up to eat them. The veggie had lots of toppings and loved the Parmesan sauce on the white pizza. Both were good, but I'd give the slight edge to the White pizza. You can always tell which was the favorite of the group as it goes first when going for next day leftovers- it was the White pizza for sure. They were out of the dessert we wanted, but happily settled for the Cinnamon dough bites. Wasn't a huge order, but enough for us each to have a couple bite sized sweets after all the savory goodness. The dough was warm and soft and had a nice balance of cinnamon and glaze. Stills. Bit sweet for me overall for me, but I'll always pick another slice of pizza over a dessert generally. Others in my party liked them. I tend to cook or go for fresh fish when in the area, but always good to know there is a solid pizza option near by. I will be back at Silos for sure read more

We visited on a Tuesday and had the bogo pizza, and a salad. It was very tasty, the service was friendly, and everyone was very pleasant. I forgot that the lunch time dining room is up some steep stairs, so if you're handicapped it would be tough to go there for lunch. They did offer to serve us downstairs, but I didn't want to sit on our own. All in All...two thumbs up! read more

My wife and I stopped in here for the first time. We had heard some good things about this place so we wanted to give it a go. We started off with the side salads, creamy Italian for her and blue cheese for me. The dressings were very good and some are made in house. As for the main courses, the bride chose the shrimp with lobster sauce over linguine while my pick was the shrimp Diablo. The portions were huge and served very hot as well. We also were given homemade breadsticks, which were fantastic! We ended up taking some food home with us as it was too much to eat all at once. We lucked out and stumbled upon this place as we drive into town. We didn't have to wait, to our surprise, but I think that was more lunch than anything else. We both ordered the steaks, a different one each. Came with a salad which was really the only disappointment. Limp lettuce and other veggies that had sat on the plate for a little too long. My "worlds greatest" steak was perfectly cooked. The sauce, shrimp and Cajun sliced potatoes all come together for a stellar meal for around $25. Nice ambiance and good service. Hannah was great. First, let's talk about the nachos. If I wanted a platter of tortilla chips, I'd rather run to the store and buy a bag of tortilla chips and save $10. I added chicken for $2.99 and only got 8 small pieces of flavorless chicken. The toppings pretty much consisted of lettuce. The buffalo chicken was a cheese pizza with a few pieces of flavorless buffalo chicken tossed on top and it was over cooked to the point of not being able to eat the crust. The cheese pizza was also over cooked with a very tuff crust and grease on top with no flavor. The baked lasagna was cold and flavorless. My family would have been much better off with a store brand frozen pizza and a frozen lasagna. At least we would have had food with a lot more flavor while saving a lot of money. If I were able to, I wouldn't have given a single star. read more

4 stars for the atmosphere and service. The food was ok, nothing to write home about but dont want it to come across as being bad either. This place is worth the trip for a number of reasons. We show up at 4 PM to try and beat dinner rushes when we're going somewhere we've not been before. No worries here as there were only a handful of people the entire time we were there. I would assume because of the time of year. Waitress that helped us out was very nice and pleasant, thank you Ashley. My awesome wife started with some sort of pasta that had large tomatoe chunky sauce with big ole' fat shrimp that she was pleased with. She was concerned it would be too acidic but it was not. I had baked manicotti in an alfredo sauce which can be too salty but this was not. Both meals were tasty and equally good the next day as we had leftovers to take home. I will note that we had these little garlic bites/knots that were very unassuming but you know, they grew on me the more I ate them. Had some really good flavor when you thought about it. Relative to the area it is in... the Silos is a good choice for a place to eat. They have a wide variety of items on the menu, and surely anyone in the party will be able to find something to suit their tastes. I had a club sandwich, and it was really good. A good portion of meat, fresh bacon, tasty honey mustard. The hot chips were pretty good as well. They seem to be more consistent than the other few restaurants in Oriental, which of the ones I have tried so far are extremely hit and miss, and usually overpriced. Silos serves up their food at prices I consider fair. Though I have to say, the experience was pretty bizarre at times. You shouldn't have to make your patrons guess at what kind of beers you have available. Make a beer list, or at least write on a chalkboard any stock that rotates. Yes, I have my few beers that I like and would order anywhere, but if I knew what was available.. I might make another choice. I'd also like to know what I'm paying for a beer before ordering it. read more

White sauce, basil, and diced tomato tucked under the bed of cheese . I can go on pages about how the flavor was just right and no ingredient taste overpowered the other. That's not it! I ordered side salad to soothe my guilt . The homemade ranch was soooooo good, sad they dint have any packed ones to sell the day I visited.
