Would not recommend this place. Ate here many times. had family in from out of town and drove from New Bern to treat them. Was told since i was in a wheel chair i could not eat there they didnt have anyone that could come downstairs to the seating area. Did t even allow us to even do takeout and serve ourselves. Easiest review to make. It's a pizza joint with cold beer. That's all you should expect and you'll be good. They, just like all of the restaurants in oriental, close at 9. They clean around you and even cleaned the bathrooms (which are right open to the dining room) while we're eating. Owners should school their staff that this isn't acceptable. Cleaning up for closing should be limited while customers are still dining, some can be done but toilet cleaning is a no. Otherwise pizza joint and cold beer and you'll get what your were coming for. read more

I feel like a judgmental jerk saying this, but frankly, one doesn't travel through a small retiree-heavy NC coastal town like Oriental and expect to find A) a restaurant with surprisingly good beers on tap (Ten Fidy, anyone?) that's housed in a pair of metal silos, or B) a silo-housed restaurant with good beer on tap that's family-friendly and absolutely KILLS it with their pizza. And when I say "KILLS it," I mean that in the whole super-positive, "holy crap, this is good pizza" kind of way. My beloved and I kept nom-nomming over each slice as our three girls happily chewed too, delighting in our two large pizzas. One of them was called "The Meats," for obvious and satisfactory carnivorous reasons, and the other was a garlic-singing revelation with white sauce. Holy cow. Both were so good. FYI: two large pizzas and a side of garlic bread served a family of five (albeit a family of five consisting of two adults, a 6-year-old, a 3-year-old, and a 1-year-old), with leftovers, and cost just over $30. Not bad at all. And I guess that they do an open mic night on Wednesdays or Thursdays. With the copious amounts of guitars, banjos, mandolins, and more adorning the walls, I would have made the call that the owner was a music lover anyway, but when he, eating with his own family and friends in the establishment was he was, came over to check in on how we liked our pizza, his guitar t-shirt pointed that out too. I can appreciate someone who encourages the making of good pizza and good music. High fives all around, Silos. When we're in Oriental next, we'll be seeing you. read more

Great pizzas. The pizzas are only 12" so plan accordingly! We order both thin crust and hand tossed and both were some of the best I've had in the south. Really. We ordered the buffalo chicken, white, plain, and the sausage pizzas. Each had its own merits. The buffalo chicken wasn't too spicy and the chicken was breaded and fried before hand. The white pizza was a good balance of basil and cheese but a little soggy. The sausage pizza was loaded with sausage. The beer selection was a great addition to the meal. The service was good. For a busy Friday night I thought the service was as good as it was going to get. I waited a while for my beer because everybody seemed to think that someone else was getting it. The restaurant looks great. I spent a lot of time reliving the soundtrack of my youth staring at the walls and ceiling. Definitely worth the money. read more

They have a gluten free pizza that is made in house! In such a small town, that's a clear win! The regular pizza was great too, but being able to order a pie for my gluten free dairy free 13 year old is priceless! The restaurant has a cool vibe, nice owners, and a fun atmosphere. Love this place! The pizza is good, and if you go on a Tuesday, it is buy any one pizza, get one free cheese pizza. (Eat in and take out for same offer). Now if you add toppings to the free one, it is not just the cost of the toppings, it gets pricier. So if you stick with the free cheese pizza, it's a great deal! I have also ordered other italian dishes here and they were good too. It is basically an italian restaurant, so anything other than italian food, isn't that great. The prices are reasonable for what you get. Oh yeah, and you sit in an actual silo building. If you have problems with stairs, then this place is not for you. You have to walk up to the second level to eat in the main dining room, and no elevator. There is also a bar upstairs too. read more

Amazing Greek pizza as well as the Reuben is probably on of the better made in this area. We have visited on several occasions and have never been disappointed with our meal or the service. Prices are fairly priced. I would recommend the Silo. read more

Stopped here while staying at the marina. The restaurant is in an actual silos which was really different and cool. Seems to be a lot of locals that frequent here. When you walk in it's almost like they can point you out like a sore thumb. Food was pretty good and live entertainment was a nice touch. If you are a local you might love this place. However, those visiting this is a cautionary tale. As I sit here sipping my tea to help soothe my stomach I have to say to proceed with caution. We ordered two orders of Manicotti, Tomato Basil Alfredo with chicken, Baked Lasagna, and Meatballs. Now all five of us have sour stomachs. Tea all the way around. The manicotti was not anything you have ever seen before and the sauce was sweet. Really sweet. The tomato basil Alfredo sauce was watered down. None of us finished our meals. We still paid and wanted to get out of there as quick as we could. Our 14 year olds stomach hurt even before we made it out. So beware. read more

A true gem. Please drive a half mile and leave the waterfront to eat like a king/queen. How can this place exist in Oriental? Full bar. Hipster beers on tap. Pete's, Shiner, yuengling, pacifico (who has Pacifico on tap? What? are you kidding me in Oriental? Pacifico on tap?) The entire ceiling of the upstairs floor is covered in vintage records and record covers. The music is amazing - deal with life my friends- buddy holly - james brown - patsy cline. Staff is on point. Don't let the rural, modest exterior fool you. Once you get inside and up in the silo, it's very comfy casual. Natural hardwoods abound, floor to ceiling. And guitars are hanging everywhere! In the back room, the ceiling is covered with album covers (it's fun to see how many of them you had in your collection growing up!). First the music scene, then the food and service. If you are into the live music scene, The Silos is a favorite Wednesday evening hangout of locals. Not ear-splitting, high-decibel rock, but music of the acoustic guitar fare. Wednesday evenings, 7pm (sharp) to 9pm, musicians from the area take the stage, usually as solo acts, sometimes with a musical partner. Last Wednesday, there was a young man that delighted the audience with his saxophone. Now the food. The pizza is excellent as are the calzones and strombolis (see which way I lean?) There are main entrees, but I prefer hand-helds with my cold local IPA brew. The salads are fresh. Prices are small but portions are big. Bring an appetite or you'll have leftovers. Now the service. The workers at The Silos are friendly and attentive. You ask for something and they hustle for you. In 4 years, I've never been disappointed with the service. Gotta go! read more

The outside is very cute, but the options are that of a grocery store deli counter and sandwiches are probably not quite as good as subway. The service was fairly slow and when my beer took a while it was apparently because the bar tender was slammed and by himself. There were only four tables in the restaurant. They also don't have a beer list but claim to have everything so I was surprised when they did not have Stella and in fact hadn't even heard of it. I ended up with a corona since they don't have a menu I was left to guess what I could get and the waitress was no help; when my friend ordered an ipa she came back with a dark beer.
