I really loved the vibe of this place. So many cute locally made jewelry options, good coffee and kind staff. I was a little confused as to how to order or where to order because of how tired I was and where the sign was placed but was fine once I asked. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese and received a bagel sandwich with bacon instead. It was delicious either way but would love to try their sausage egg and cheese sandwich the next time I'm on big island! The cold brew was strong and got me through my day trip perfectly!

Located on the ground level of the 2-story wood building on Kanoelehua (across from Sakura). There's indoor and outdoor seating. You're able to purchase Sandi's, cold & hot coffee as well as smoothies with all the toppings. Check out the mermaid merch, super cute.

On a recent visit to Hilo I was on a mission to try some new local coffee places. As Hawaii is the only state to grow coffee, there are some excellent choices, and the coffee shops themselves different. This one popped up as highly rated and was close to our hotel and I ended up coming three mornings in a row! (I was disappointed they were closed on Sundays as I didn't get a fourth visit.) The coffee shop is located in an older commercial plaza near Banyan Drive. It's easy to drive or even walk here from many of the popular hotels and the stadium. It's a cute spot with limited bar stool seating and counter space inside and a couple tables outside. The menu is clearly shown above the pickup window, with ordering on the left. They have a number of bottled drinks and baked goods (scones, cookies, and cakes are done in-house fresh each morning and change daily). Most days I just got drinks, but also got to try a cheese & chives scone which I loved. I've been really craving iced coffee lately so I got a large size black cold brew each morning. They were served fresh with just enough ice to keep cold without watering them down. The coffee was strong and flavorful, black as can be which I loved. All the staff on the mornings I was there were friendly, quick to take orders, and efficient to serve them. I loved my visits here and look forward to coming again next trip!

I was looking up coffee shops one morning during my stay in Hilo, when I came across this place. As soon as a saw a picture of Ube whipped cream I knew I had to come here. I'm so glad I did. The prices were reasonable and my coffee was perfect. The Ube whipped cream was the icing on the cake... well coffee to be exact. I wanted to come here before flying out but they are closed on Sundays. Bummer but it's okay as I feel businesses should be closed to have a day to rest.

Sounds like my life! :D After driving from Keaau to Waimea, Waimea to Hilo, Hilo to Kona, Kona back to Hilo... the 300 miles of driving finally caught up to this Merman! Hawai'i Big Island is truly a Big Island! Island Coffee needed stat! On my last stop before headed to the Hilo airport I decided to give The Sippin Siren a shot! All I knew is that it's a small business, Wahine owned, with limited hours. Ok, I also admit the Siren logo was super cute! And who cares if in Greek Mythology... Sirens were symbolic of the dangerous temptation embodied by women! Oh! Trust me, I'm a sucker for a cute Siren! :D The Sippin Siren is located just a mile from the airport. Finding her was easy and parking up front a breeze too! Upon entering I noticed a small, charming Café style Coffee shop. Three women, not sure if they were Sirens lol, walked in ahead of me. It gave me the chance to peruse the menu. I noticed it was more than just a Coffee shop when the ladies before me ordered sandwiches & baked goods with their drinks. The Gen-Z barista was friendly and professional and offered suggestions to go with the Hot Mocha I ordered. I decided on Ube Ubae Magic Bite because hey I'm all about Mythology and Magic! Just no Curses please ha! There's about four areas to sit inside and a couple of small cafe tables outside. I managed to grab a seat at the corner when I noticed more women walking in! I'm now surrounded in a sea of Sirens :0 My Hot Mocha was made quickly and I snagged it at the counter. Mocha was on point and I could tell it was quality Cocoa & Coffee used. The Ube Ubae Magic Bite was unique in a almost health food-ish way lol but it was tasty and paired well with the Hot Mocha. In the end, I suggest The Sippin Siren if in Hilo! A small town charming Café with sayings like "Great things come to those who Believe". Whimsical decor and a pleasant staff. They have a good thing going with the logo merchandise and treats to keep any Siren happy! Trust me, you don't want to make a Siren unhappy! Dedicated to International Women's Day! This review just happened! Mahalo to Dee for reminding me! :D

I am so disappointed this only exists in Hilo, HI because this might be one of my favorite coffee shops of all time. The mermaid vibe is so cute, the workers were so friendly, and the food was top notch. I loved that as folks came in to order, the employees knew their names. The mocha was so chocolately and there wasn't an ounce of bitter in it Bacon Sandy on a cheese bagel was so good, I came back the next day for another one Antioxidant smoothie was so berry focused and smooth Honestly, I can't say enough great things about this place!

Nasty spongy, grey eggs in their breakfast bagel sandwiches. Microwave delight. Was starving, but couldn't bring myself to finish this.

Quality here has gone so far downhill. Slow service and nasty spongy grey eggs in their breakfast sandwiches. Iced tea was just a tea bag in cold water. It had no flavor. Most coffee/tea places make a concentrate to put over ice. Coffee is even watered down now. Used to like this place. Tried to give this business a few more tries before posting this review. Prices went up and quality has become gas station level.

Everything was amazing. I definitely recommend getting the fruit boat if you're thinking about it. It was sooo good I want another one.. They also had mini stickers for 50 cents each that I got for my journal but I didn't get a photo of them. The service was fast and nice. The store itself is sooo cute and cozy. Definitely recommend.

Sooo loved The Sippin' Siren!! My go-to-coffee shop during a 4 day visit to Hilo. The light breakfast choices including the bagel and scones were scrumptious, BUT my most fav' was the fresh fruit & yogurt boat! Be sure to try the blended crème brûlée coffee. Promise, you won't be disappointed and bet you'll go back just for that! Kelli, the owner is the sweetest and spunkiest coffee barista ever. She knows her stuff, plus she pays attention to the details of your specific liking. All the baristas are great and offer the best customer service-- you know, the kind you don't find much these days. Please be sure to pay them a visit!

Very cute coffee shop! They have a lot of options on their menu. Tons of coffee flavors and add ons. I got an oatmilk vanilla latte. I added ube coconut whipped cream which was absolutely amazing! 100% recommend. Also got bagel sandwiches which were good. There was only 1 person working the register and making the drinks/food so service was a bit slow but very friendly. They have few window counter seating.

Got off the plane, picked up my rental and went straight here for a cup of coffee. Perfect way to start off my vacation on the Big Island. Ordered a S'mores mocha and a "Mary Poppins" latte which had English toffee, brown sugar and cinnamon. Both drinks were awesome. Also had a homemade scone. Warm and filled with fresh blueberries. Sad I missed taking a photo of the scone so I will have to go back and "try another one." If you are in Hilo, go check them out. You will not be disappointed. It's very rare I give 5 stars. This spot gets all 5. Hope the rest of my vacation goes as great as this cup!

Took the first flight over for work, and found most fast food places open around 9am - whut? So I Yelped a coffee shop and ended up here at this cute little spot with a piping hot cup of coffee that was much needed after a 345am wake up I didn't want to spend too much time looking over the menu as others were waiting so I asked the barista for a recommendation and she suggested a Salted Caramel Mac Nut latte, I added 3 shots. Looking over the other reviews, I see they have UBE ... and now I'm sad I didn't see it then lol Next time, Hilo!

The food is great. The coffee is basic. I would have given this a 5 star if the owner wasn't rude. Rude In sooo many level. I do understand that their trash bin is labeled and most of the tourist bring their trash to dump to their bins, but I went here with a full cup of coffee from Hilton Hotel, I traded my freshly brewed coffee to taste theirs but just an awful reaction from the owner coming off too strong in condescending way that I am not allowed to use their trash bin to dump my coffee in exchange of buying and advocating for her business. Just awful Monday morning, to be treated that way. I have explained that I'm a tourist, that I just had my fresh coffee dumped to buy hers, and that I didn't notice the notes. And the nerve, to come out of the bar and literally cleaned out the bin infront of me. This is how they treat their customer. No matter what, always be respectful and kind. She's an obvious Karen. Unbelievable. -- I am not sure why I am being harassed with expressing how I was felt. read more

We were in Hilo for a week on business and found ourselves eating breakfast here every morning. It's a lovely little coffee shop with rather good breakfast sandwiches and guava boats with granola. Really enjoyed their friendly service, a few outdoor spots to sit, and some tasty food and drinks. read more

Nice little place that is super cute inside and offers coffee drinks both cold and hot. When arrived there was already people waiting and only one girl working. However, she greeted us and let us know she would be right with us. We ordered the iced lattes with macadamia syrup and we added the UBE foam. The lattes were actually really good, but we didn't care for the UBE foam. I think next time I would pass on that. Prices are decent and we didn't wait for too long, but it might be a long wait if it gets super busy. They have lots of drinks to try so looking forward to the next time. read more

Disappointed at the customer service. The staff does not like kids. My kids were having fun playing with the old toys they had there but the staff came over and took it away. She didn't make eye contact or say anything to us. I was planning to put the toys away when they were done playing because I always tidy up things. We felt her bitterness towards us so we left before we finished eating. We will never go back there again. read more

Absolutely love love love the name! The papaya boat was so good, they had a range of options from healthy to traditional breakfast/ cafe food. The smoothies were good and fueled us for a fun hike! 4 stars for the courteous, considerate staff & the owner, Kelly. She was very kind & welcoming. Prices are reasonable for Hilo. The espresso is basic, not overly complex but smooth. You can pick up a consistent dark chocolate. Their cold brew is steeped for 48 hours & extra caffeinated. Ask for a sample. They also serve breakfast & the decor is quirky. Thanks, Kelly! read more

Oh I love this place! Ordered the special drink of the day, Toasted Marshmallow Peppermint Mocha, and it is so delicious! Literal sips of heaven - perfectly chocolatey, sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet, and the peppermint pops. The best mocha I've ever had. I also tried the jalapeño artichoke cream cheese on a bagel and that did not disappoint either. On top of the amazing drink, the staff were all so kind, friendly, and really sweet. Ready to answer any questions and they definitely make coming here so worth it. Can't wait to go back tomorrow morning!!! read more

This spot is a little hidden, you can see with sign from the main street but not the front of the shop. So keep your eyes peeled. The ladies here are awesome and helpful! They even have curbside pick up now so you can order ahead. The inside is super cute and very open. Great variety of food and drinks. They also have an IG page that they seem to post on pretty frequently so you can see what other people are getting, and they all look super good. My daughter had muffin, croissant, and we both also ordered smoothies one daybreak and one Antioxidant. They were so refreshing. read more

Our favorite coffee place on the big island! We just got here from Kona and this place was better than the places we tried in Kona. I got a Cafe Latte with Oat Milk and Coconut Syrup, my husband got a regular latte. The kids got a Daybreak Smoothie and a Frozen Lemonade, they loved them. It was also a great place to have breakfast. The kids got a croissant breakfast sammy with bacon and banana bread. We shared a asiago bagel with a homemade spread of jalapeños and artichokes. I really wished we didn't share because that was the best bagel EVER!! We can't wait to go back tomorrow (our last day) and get more. I wish we were here longer to try more this like the fruit boat. But I hope they gave that spread again tomorrow. read more

Walked here most mornings of our trip for our morning smoothie and coffee since it was close to the hotel - the service was always friendly and fast - the coffee was great, the smoothies were tasty and was happy they offered a gluten free breakfast option (fruit boat - had my with papaya, yogurt and a drizzle of honey) - wish we had a place at home as cute and friendly and tasty! Will miss the morning walks over, but will go again when in Hilo read more

Great little coffee spot! I wanted a latte and a breakfast sandwich and this place definitely delivered on both. The latte was well made, balanced, and the breakfast sandwich was a great values (plus tasty!) for the price paid. I'm writing this as a malihini, but the Sippin' Siren does not have the tourist vibe. At all. Even though I walked in with a sunburn and felt like I was screaming "I'm from Los Angeles!!!!!" I felt like a local walking in with my family to our corner coffee place. They were happy to deal with our traditional ordering-then-changing-what-we-ordered process we do so well. They happily recommended drinks, flavors, and spreads without so much as a thinly veiled sigh. The entire experience made us feel like they knew us. Their espresso isn't just Kona good, it's amazing. The baked goods? Delicious. We went through their jalapeño artichoke spread, scones, and pastries. I demolished a perfect egg and bacon bagel "Sandy." I'm sad to leave Hilo. We love it here. But I'm really sad we won't have the Sippin' Siren...because you know what we DON'T have in L.A.? We don't have a corner coffee place. All we have in a 5-mile radius is several of those places from Seattle. read more

Highly recommend! I am a coffee snob and literally will drive 30 mins for a good latte. If you're going to trust any review...it's mine. The coffee is delicious - perfect amount of espresso to milk ratio and NOT watery (nothing worse than watery coffee honestly). Also, all of the reviews about people getting yelled at for throwing away their trash is probably because they were trying to shove their fast food bags from last week into this small coffee shop trash can. So if you're looking for a cute shop with amazing lattes and not a dumpster to unload your nasty trash, check this place out! read more

Any place that has smiling faces, warm croissants, and lots of coffee is my kinda place! Although there's not a ton of seating (definitely not the kind of place to hang out with a group), there's definitely a lot of parking in the lot for the plaza the shop's in. I can't even remember the base coffee drink I got honestly, but I DO remember the ube nitro whipped cream which was absolutely crazy and delicious. Established in 2020.

This company was started by two sisters passionate about the coffee world. One day things just rolled into place to open this little operation of a gem and started serving Hilo, our ways of training from Alaska. So far we’re having fun and learning lots still, it’s been very rewarding and also a challenge, but extremely grateful to be operating in Hawaii. Aloha

I don't think much -- if any, additional sugar was mixed in, because the smoothie wasn't especially sweet. If you're on vacation and haven't been eating particularly healthy, nor getting enough fiber in your diet, it's a good idea to give your system a boost with one of these smoothies. Smoothies here are priced in line with your average smoothie -- at around $13 or so. Keaukaha General Store

When a store is the only game in town for goods near a tourist entry point, one would expect/accept…read morehigh prices. Instead, Keaukaha General Store (within easy walking distance of the Port of Hilo) provided a great selection of sundries, some souvenirs of Hilo, and a small menu of Hawaiian favorite dishes at prices that were the lowest I've seen in Hawaii. My wife and I came here twice: first while walking into town, when we picked up souvenirs and an unexpected loco moco plate. It was a lot less crowded then, with us being the only ones there...allowing us to have a completely different experience. When we came back as we headed back towards the ship, other cruisers from the ship had discovered this place, and were stocking up on various things. It's a large modern space inside, with things organized displayed very neatly. There was no sense I needed to check for expiration dates. There was a portable ATM machine right by the door. A decent selection of alcohol at good prices were displayed (e.g. $8.81 for a bottle of Barefoot Cab or $18.99 for a 12 pack of Budweiser). I took the opportunity to get something I've not seen elsewhere: a bag of dried clams (aka Asari) for $4.19. Ended up finishing it that night...was really good. It has an all day menu, and was able to order a Loco Moco for breakfast. The all beef patty was very thick and dense, definitely from a frozen patty...good for Salisbury steak or Loco Moco, but wouldn't be great for a burger. The brown gravy was served hot and hadn't congealed, and the 1 egg had been cooked over easy, just as requested. It was obviously freshly made. It was packed to-go, with condiments and utensils available near the registers. There wasn't much space to eat inside, but because it wasn't too busy, found a space to sit in the back. I scarfed it down (probably too fast) while my wife finished her shopping. Also in the back, there are gourmet coffee machines and a chest freeze full of hand scoopable ice cream. There is a Pepsi self serve soda machine, along with various sizes of chips. My wife initially bought a couple of t-shirts as requested souvenirs for our travel mates ($25 a piece), and bought another one as we were heading back. On the 1st trip, she also liked a perfume body mist...the tester was the last one so the attendant sold it for half price ($14). For us, she bought a Hilo waterproof sticker for $2.75. And her favorite part of the store was the small portable Pokémon card machine, that dispensed random Japanese Pokémon cards for a quarter. She kept changing out dollars for quarters and ended up getting $5.75 of them...and a couple of them were hollos that we like. They do charge a 3.25% credit card fee, so cash is preferred when possible.

We didn't think of anything when we saw it the first time. By just looking at the name of it though, my immediate reaction was, "Is this a kombuchas bar??" Well, it is but it's not just kombuchas they serve; it's more than that. The breakfast/brunch dishes they serve (although they don't have a huge selection) are quite diverse. I do incorporate a lot of vegetarian/vegan diet into my daily meal routine so when I saw the Verdant Vegan I simply couldn't skip it. As my daughter and I usually split a plate when we dine together she agreed to this option of mine. Glad we did. This plate has all sorts of goodness included in it. Sautéed veggies, house-made lentil walnut chorizo, ginger beet kraut, fire-roasted jalapeno cashew crema, fire-roasted tomato salsa, and it's topped it off with sprouts. This whole thing comes with either purple sweet potato home fries or red rice (which we went with the purple sweet potato fries and ended up getting a side red rice. We also got the side kimchi and one egg sunny side up.) And we shared a 16oz Ceremonial Matcha latte as well. This vegan plate is way more than vegan. It's mighty as hell. For those who are still not sure about vegan options will definitely second guess it for something that isn't vegan/vegetarian. It's truly nutrition packed in so many different ways. If I lived close to this cafe, I would eat here once a week to enjoy this delightful meal. I am not kidding. I enjoyed the matcha latte very much although my daughter rated it as "okay". She likes her matcha in a very particular way so it unfortunately didn't impress her. This is not to say that she disliked it. She said it wasn't bad either. This place is a "walk in, order upfront, pick a table where you want to sit and one of the staff will bring your food to you" style cafe. Water is self-served. Once you are done with your meal you'll put your dirty dishes in the designated tub. I like this efficient style of serving food. This place has great vibes as well. A bit hippie-ish where bright dark colors such as purple and red are incorporated into the interior. There is even a stage where bands perform on certain days/times. Quite cool-looking. If you are visiting Hilo soon then put this place on your "must visit" restaurant list. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and quality food will entertain you for sure.

Just went there for the first time today. Lovely little coffee shop. Unfortui got there around 135pm and they close at 2, which means they may not have coffee by this time. Lucky me though she had just enough for a 12oz. I pass this place quite often and never thought to stop. Today I'm craving coffee but was stuck at work so I thought why not see if Express Waiters can deliver. Low and behold , they do. After putting together my order and seeing the price I soon realized, why am I gonna pay this much just for a coffee delivery when they're right around the corner from me. So I went there instead. I was charged a little over $4 for my 12oz. Breve +whipped cream+extra white chocolate flavor. It was Ono!! Plus they leave a little white chocolate covered coffee bean on top the coffee cover when they hand it over to you. Thought it was a nice touch. Every little bit counts. I'm so glad I came instead of having EW deliver this otherwise I would've paid wayyyy over. EW charges $1.20 for extra white chocolate...$1.20!! That's nuts!! I know they have their extra fees for delivering and such. But as you can see in the picture, this is wayyyy overpriced. The total for this same coffee through EW would've costed me $10. Over double the price! I'm so glad I went there instead using delivery. EW already charges for delivery, so why the jump in price on every single item?? Idk. But Sippin Siren and other small businesses don't deserve this. EW is making double profit off the small businesses. Did Sippin Siren agree to this? I hope not. This isn't right. I gave them 5 stars because the feel, the cleanliness, and the customer service is tip top. Plus, the coffee is delish and I'm happy. Just upset with EW. read more

So happy I discovered this cute little spot. My wife has heard about from her client at work. We decided to check out the next day. The store is cute, occupies the corner of the building, and has plenty of parking. The inside of the store is clean, decorated with taste, and very inviting.
