Cool dive bar. Very high ceilings, mismatched tables, some were like out of place diner tables. It's big with two sides and two bars. One side is more sit down and the other has pool and there are games in the middle. The bartender was friendly but also with a bit of 'tude, but it came off just perfectly matched with the joint, so I appreciated her and seemed everyone else did too! Pretty good prices on drinks. The line went a bit slow but the place is lively enough to feel entertained while waiting. I can't comment on the food but overall it's a fun place! read more

Dive bar vibes in SODO. One bartender and a large amount of people clammering to get a drink. So intensely crowded after a Mariners game. Fun vibes here though even though it was packed. Diverse age group as well which made this old lady (lol) feel ok to be out so late at a bar. Fun times and strong pours. Loads of televisions showing movies and sports. A dart board and two bar areas. We went to the back bar thinking it would be faster, nope. No worries. The one lady bartender was absolutely killing it behind the bar. Pouring drinks like a boss! Legit fun and good times here. If you happen to be in downtown Seattle and want to have a late night beverage come here. It is a full bar with a good choice of beers on tap too. This place is divey, divey. We didn't get the chance to try their pizza since their toaster oven was broken, but we will be back before any performances at Showbox Sodo across the street. The night we went, there was a very young crowd, but imagine you get folks from all walks of life here. The bathroom was gross, but again, it's a divey spot. My friend and i were situated on the far side of the bar, we ordered two shots and then i asked what beers were on tap (honestly because i couldn't see the taps or the menu) - bartender rudely replied "we have like 40 beers on tap." ah okay..so i walked over to the menu and found something. no biggie as im sure they get asked that all the time second thing - i politely flagged down a bartender asking if there was a small bar menu for food. they replied "this isn't a restaurant." and handed me a small menu of personal pizza options. although i am sure they meant no harm, but rubbed me the wrong way as i asked very politely. i would be happy to return tbh but will not be asking bartenders any questions. read more

This is a great bar located just south of the stadiums so it's a great spot before a Hawks, Mariners or Sounders game. They have a really good selection of Seattle beers and the mixed drinks are poured with a heavy hand. They also have a pool table and darts and several big screen TVs in the back room to watch the game. They used to offer free peanuts but stopped doing that during Covid, which is a bummer but understandable. Parking is also a bit challenging unless you want to park in the back, but that area is getting more sketchy these days. I would give this place a 5 star review but it looks like my credit card was charged for items I didn't order so I need to track that down, even though I didn't keep my receipt. I love this place and think the name is right on the nose. I'm not implying it's a dump, by the way, but it does have its own character. If you are looking for a swanky place with fancy drinks - this is not your place; and that's OK! This place is great for people like me who feel a little more comfortable in what I think may technically be defined as a dive but honestly it's lovely. The service is great and typically comes with a pretty generous pour if you order booze (I swear that has not affected my judgement at all) and everybody there is pretty nice. The location could be better I suppose but if you are going to the show across the street at the Showbox I can't recommend it enough. WAY cheaper than the drinks inside and the pizza is great too! Worked all afternoon yesterday. I came in last night after not being able to get into a sold out show across the street. Ordered a pizza & pint, all good. Glass was empty & thought I'd order a 2nd before I headed home. Waited waited, but the bartender lady was too busy talking, with her back to me, to Mr beard & muscles at the other end of the bar for a long time & not serving. She finally came over to take my order after I put my empty glass upsidedown to make a point. Asked me if I was driving, then said she'd give me a glass of water to have & then I could order a 2nd pint. No thanks, cash me out. She got offended that I did that. What bar is gonna make more money if they don't wanna serve more than 1 pint to a customer?! Yes, I have a speech impediment & some physical disability. Perhaps she prejudged me because of these & thought I'd been drinking already, but she never asked me how many drinks I had, just went straight to judging & poor service. We went after a mariner game (same with most of the other customers) but the bar had two different areas for seating so if never felt over packed. How can you not love a super divey rock & roll type bar!? Every time I have walked into this place, there is always great music playing, friendly staff, and just all around good vibes. Great place to grab a drink before a show at Showbox Sodo (across the street) or even on your way to Safeco or Century Link. Clean Bathrooms...YES! Even for a dive bar. Pizza! Arcade games...AWESOME! Also just fun to see the walls plastered with posters and cool memorabilia. Everyone is welcome here and there's all walks of life that seem to come in. Drinks are stiff and not overly priced. Jordyn is the best bartender. She was extremely friendly and handled that bar like a boss on a Mariner's game day. One thing that stood out though was that she had to wash literally a hundred (maybe more) glasses by hand even when she's expected to provide excellent service. Even though she did, I still felt as though if management got her a dishwasher and proper equipment she could carry out her job duties without having to worry about it. Again, sh was AMAZING. Bought drinks and then the bouncers kicked us out after sitting at our table for at least 20 minutes because we had our own water bottles on the table that we had at the mariners game which we filled inside, mind you the security guard checking out IDs never said a thing about the empty bottles. I love coming down to Hooverville for a pint (or 2) and some peanuts. The drinks are stiff and priced well. The back wall is filled with any type of liquor you can think of... it's really impressive. After the first MLB All-Star Game in Seattle in 22 years... Hooverville is fine if you want to sit quietly and drink a beer, but don't even think of bringing your group here for a good time. The power tripping is too real at Hooverville and it mostly feels like the bartenders just want to go home. For being a huge bar in an industrial and pro sports neighborhood, they treat it like a library. It's almost as depressing as I imagine 1930s Hoovervilles must have been... And it's, unfortunately, classically Seattle to shit on nightlife and Hooverville is enthusiastically sticking to the trend. Oh, and bring back the peanuts!! read more

I came in here a few times, with my mommy. They have popcorn and peanuts, which seems trivial but really sets the mood. It's a old-school bar in a newly growing area, and it's nice to see that you can still come to a bar where your bartender is friendly and recognizes you. They get slammed during games, but handle it with the grace and agility I've only ever seen from my brother, the cat Mabel, that unfortunately got hit by a car. I sure hope this place doesn't because they treat us right. My favorite bartender is Laura, but only by a small margin. Worst experience ever. I am almost 70. Trust me, I don't look younger than 21. Nevertheless I showed my ID to the screener at the entrance. He asked me, "do you know when your license expires?" I was taken aback by his question but it was his way of making me pull out my ID from my walled to show the expiration date. I really don't until his intent. I came here with a friend after Bark in the Park at Safeco Field the other day. They let us in with our dogs and we ended up sitting in a booth near the front door of the first bar. I have been here before and the female bartender with dark hair and a nose ring is awesome! She is always patient even when there are a lot of people, and she makes the drinks worth the money. This divey sports bar in Sodo has been a place that I have come to a total of 4 times so far, and each time I have been able to get my drinks quickly with great service. I also like that they have a bunch of bar games to choose from, and there is lots of profound graffiti that I like to add to my snapchat stories when I am in there. It's a riot! read more

Whats not to enjoy about this bar during a Seahawks home game?!? That's pretty much the only experiences I've had here and all have been good. The door guy is cute! :) That's a bonus! On the real though, the place is pretty big inside for a sports bar....big as in long! Good beer options.. fun folks to hang with during the ups and downs of the game. White Fog? Was that what we were drinking? It was a little smokey, but I liked it. I'm not sure if it was the Pyramid Apricot Ale (from down the street) that got me going, but... dang! I had two glasses of that stuff (and I'm usually a "one beer's enough" kind of gal). I probably wouldn't come out of my way to go there again, but if I'm at the Showbox SoDo (across the street) or MAYBE if someone else has a big gathering there. I came by at 5pm (on a Tuesday) and quickly learned that there was loud music and the only food option was a whole pizza. They had open tables, though! I was looking for a place to chill (quietly), maybe read, and get some dinner... so I left. I came back at 6pm and it was pretty packed... and just kept getting more packed. The group of Yelpers eventually asked this older couple if we could join their large table because apparently nobody that was at a table wanted to leave... The pizza is good for soaking up the beer and only costs $6. It's on the small side and not particularly good.... but it's edible and good enough. It's a fun place to drink and hang out. Everyone seems to be in their own little world here. I like playing pinball. I like eating free peanuts and then tossing the shells on the floor (even though I felt like I was being bad each time). What a fun place! I've been here many times now and every time a different type of experience. But all times, my go to bar before an event at the Showbox SODO. I learned about the pizza place next door on this visit! We had a great meal and great company talking with the bar staff while enjoying amazing drinks and cocktails. After the show, my friends and I came by for more libations and played some fun games such as 4 player pac man and skee ball! The place is very roomy and we didn't have any issues finding a seat. In fact, I have never had an issue finding a place to be at this establishment and I like that. Always a place for me here, both in the front or back bar. What else is there to say?
