I think their product is watered down. Got Botox for my 11s. Went back for two week check up and felt no results. So they did it again. No results. Third time they did another brand, Dysport I think. It didn't work either. They tried to say it just doesn't work on some people. I went to a different place a few months later and it worked fine. This review is for Dr. Colon. Twelve years ago i had a quick lift performed by Dr. Colon. When I went in there I had ear lobes. When he was done with me I had NO ear lobes. He literally took and sewed my ears minus lobes to the sides of my face. For twelve years I've been embarrassed with the site of my ears. Of course I said nothing at the time. They have you sign document after document so they're not liable for their fuck ups. I just hired a reputable cosmetic surgeon that's going to fix the damage Dr. Colon did to my ears. I'm baffled as to how this place has so many 5 star reviews. I think I got stuck with an inexperienced injector. The Skin Center has an excellent marketing team and they portray themselves to be "expert injectors" on social media but my experience was not so great. I paid for 31 units of botox and ended up getting the classic "spock brow" which I now know is a common issue with bad injectors. Rather than fixing this free of charge during my follow-up appointment, they made me pay $200 for 15 additional units in my 11 area to fix it and lift the brow back up. I didn't know any better at the time, but I now realize I was duped. I then ended up noticing two more problems caused by the injections. I scheduled a third appointment to see if they could fix it. I knew I was in for a fight when I called to express my concern and schedule another appointment. I was told: "I can make an appointment for you but I can't guarantee treatment." (aka: We ain't fixing this shit and our lawyers told us not to admit fault) I went into this third appointment in a very non-accusatory way because I figured Maureen would be embarrassed that she fucked up and I assumed she had been coached to death on how to handle fuck ups. I know how it goes. She gaslighted me and refused to take accountability when I showed her. One of the botox injections (either in my lips or in the crows feet area) caused my lower face around my smile lines to sag. I assume it migrated or was injected to closely to the muscles that lift up the mouth when smiling. If you go online this is an uncommon yet known issue that all injectors should be apprised of. She acted like I was making up a clearly very visible issue (including a before-and-after pic of my sagging and lax lower facial muscles around my mouth). She played dumb and was extremely patronizing and repeatedly implied that I was imagining one issue and causing the other. She did the same thing in regards to the new wrinkles in my lower eye lid which have formed after the injections. I think she used too much in one location, but I can not say for sure. All I know is that her clueless act is bullshit and certainly didn't work on me. By the end of the appointment I was livid after she denied, denied, denied and even went so far as to blame ME. I didn't buy the "I don't know what you're talking about" thing for a second. I'm not sure if Maureen is inexperienced or what, but either way congrats to The Skin Center for obviously teaching your "expert injectors" how to gaslight patients into thinking they are imagining injector fuck ups and even convincing them to purchase MORE to fix said fuck ups. These guys go beyond the ole "Don't admit fault. Don't apologize" thing and actually blame the concerned customer. Stellar manipulation tactics, guys. Just go to either a facial plastic surgeon or a dermatologist that specializes in this stuff and save yourself the misery of a distorted, saggy face and additional wrinkles caused by an "expert". Yikes. Obviously this place has some excellent injectors but it's not worth the risk to get one of the bad ones. read more

I highly recommend this facility. I've been going here for over a year now for Botox. The staff is super friendly. The office is clean, organized and inviting. It's very easy to get an appointment. The RN Stephanie is just amazing. She is always happy to see me. I barely feel the needle when she does the procedure. Her treatments last about a month or two longer than the facility I went to for the last 10 years. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. I've gone to a few other medi spas in the Columbus area - Stephanie was knowledgeable, spent time with me during the consult appt to answer all questions and fully understand my aesthetic goals. During the procedure, she explained everything she was going to do and took her time during the process, stepping back to check her work multiple times to assure the best possible outcome. I researched The Skin Center when I was looking for something to help minimize a scar. I'm not a regular spa girl, so I don't know what kind of procedures are out there. I was able to get a free consultation at The Skin Center where they advised a Vita-Peel. A Vita-Peel (or Vitalize Peel) is a combination of alpha-hydroxy and retinoic acid that exfoliates the top layer of skin to expose younger, fresher skin. It's really a great treatment that encourages glowing skin. The downfall is peeling skin for a day or two after the treatment, and a series of three treatments is recommended. Then of course repeat visits for maintenance. I was happy about the recommendation, because I was certain, I would have to have some sort of laser work. This is much more up my alley. I'm also happy to report that the Vita-Peel did make a difference. The technicians are very kind and soothing. Although these are medical procedures, each client is treated like royalty. read more

After 4+ years of going back and forth on getting lip injections, I finally decided to pull the trigger and made an appointment at a plastic surgeon's office here in Columbus. After my appointment I got in my car and immediately felt disappointed with the results. I felt there was a lack of communication between patient/doctor, and I felt as if I had just thrown several hundred dollars to the wind. It was truthfully hard to even tell I had lip injections done at all and I decided I wasn't going back. After having a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach for a few weeks I decided to do more research and came across The Skin Center Medical Spa. After reading many reviews I made a consultation with Stephanie, and I am sure glad I did!! From the moment I met her I felt at ease. She's SO personable it honestly felt like I had known her for years. I felt like she really cared about me, and wanted me to have the outcome I desired. I never once felt rushed, and she actually sat down and talked to me about my expectations. I never felt like she had one foot out of the exam room door like I did at the plastic surgeon's office. She asked questions, showed me in the mirror what she could do and she was confident she could give me the look I wanted. A uniformly bad experience. Disorganized scheduling, inadequately trained staff and abusive legal terms and conditions. Made an appointment several weeks in advance for a minor cosmetic procedure. Got a packet of info and forms in the mail, and was told to bring completed forms to first appointment. At first appointment, was seen together by a "certified esthetician" and a nurse who told me that pulsed laser light was an appropriate treatment. Made another appointment for the procedure to be done about a month later. About a week before my appointment, I got a phone call saying their equipment was being repaired so my appointment was cancelled and would be rescheduled later. After about 6 weeks to repair the equipment, got a call from them and rescheduled my appointment. (Wondered why it took so long to repair to do repairs, or if there was some other reason for the long delay.) A couple weeks later, got another call saying "something had come up" and they needed to reschedule my appointment a second time. Thought scheduling was disorganized and front office was unprofessional as no explanation was ever given what "had come up." On the afternoon of my second appointment, to be treated, upon arrival I was given several pages of legal documents to sign, with various paragraphs that needed to be individually initialed. I asked why these documents weren't sent with the other forms I received in the mail months before, so I could review them beforehand, and not feel pressured to read and sign a bunch of legal documents just before treatment. No satisfactory explanation was given, just that "forms needed to be signed the day of treatment." OK, but why can't they be received and reviewed before arriving for treatment? When I finally saw the doctor who would have done the procedure, he told me the area I wanted treated was not appropriate for treatment with laser light. I asked why his esthetician previously told me it was, but was just told she was not familiar with this condition in the area I wanted treated. The obvious question then becomes - "Why is this esthetician certified if she doesn't know what is and isn't treatable, and why did the nurse present also agree with that assessment?" Aside from this, I would not have gone ahead with treatment because of the requirement to sign away all my legal rights. After reviewing the legal forms, it was obvious that this business engages in extensive CYA by requiring their patients to sign away their legal rights before receiving treatment. Had I received these forms in the mail before my appointment, I would have cancelled the appointment upon reading the following waiver all patients are required to sign before treatment: "I hereby agree to hold harmless and waive any claim of liability whatsoever for myself, my heirs, personal representatives, and assigns against The Skin Center & Associates related to any services performed." (Copied verbatim from the Skin Center's "Disclosure Statement") So, in a worse case scenario, if you leave blind in one eye because someone's hand slipped and you got an accidental laser shot in the eye, well, sorry 'bout that. Or if you die during surgery, a la Joan Rivers' recent death, your survivors have no legal recourse. There are several other clauses that are so abusive and one-sided it makes you wonder about their malpractice history, or what they have against simple arbitration of disputes. If I had wanted to have a "pay your money and take your chances" type of medical procedure, I could have gone to Mexico where treatments under those conditions are much less expensive than what the Skin Center charges. In conclusion, a lot of paperwork, phone calls, rescheduling, and two trips to their office for nothing but a lot of wasted time. I visited their Columbus, Ohio office, but I'm guessing their "nothing is ever our fault" legal waivers are used at their offices in other states. read more

I was interested in some kind of nonsurgical procedure that would decrease the asymmetry of my eyebrows as my right brow drooped so much more that the left. I found the Skin Center was doing an informational seminar on a fairly new procedure called Ultherapy, so I attended. The concept and expectations were very well explained and there was absolutely no pressure to purchase the products. Ultherapy uses a specialized ultrasound procedure (not like when you're pregnant) to pinpoint deep collagen areas, then uses the focused sound waves to create enough deep heat to immediately reorganized the collagen, allowing it to slowly reorganize in a more original manner, like it does when you are younger. The immediate effect was noticable and the next week was amazing. My brows were even! At my one month follow up, the brow is starting to relax down a bit, as they told me it would, but is still much better that it was. It also took away that "heavy brow" feeling like you can't keep your eyes open. I was pleased enough with the brows that I had my neck and face done today and am looking forward to these results too. I chose this procedure because it should be long lasting. Of course, normal aging will continue but research is showing continured improvement even 18 months out. They are not yet able to do the eyelids, but as soon as that procedure is available I won't hesitate to have that done too. Nancy is very knowlegable and the office staff was great too.
