I thought I had posted a review already but it seems as if it's been removed. TLDR Pros: look good, relatively timely installation Cons: don't close/stay closed, don't functions as promised, poor customer service. After months of going back and forth trying to verify details regarding sound reduction, and adding a header to make the doors we wanted feasible, we place an order for doors that we thought would allow us to have a functional closed office space/guest room. It took about 3-4 months to produce and install, which was just a bit later than promised but not unexpected. The friendly installers came in early December and installed the doors in one day. They look fantastic in the space, just as promised. However, installers left the baseboard cut up and raw, and didn't leave the pieces so we could fix it ourselves and the doors would not properly close. The door frames bowed considerably and the base wheels were also improperly installed in the doors. I notified customer service immediately of the issues. It took two or three emails to get any response and they kept putting off scheduling repairs. When I posted a negative review (which seems to have been deleted), they promptly scheduled a repair. The repair addressed the gap in the middle, but not the wheel, baseboard or bowing issue. We were tired of dealing with getting the issue resolved so we decided to let it go and do our best to work with it. Unfortunately, that was not the end. Now, two months after the 'repair', the doors actually open on their own 3-4" immediately after they are closed. So they no longer function as doors. I'd be happy to change my review if the product we paid for is repaired or replaced so it will function like a sliding door should. We may actually have to move houses or pay someone to remove and install an entirely different product since we were relying on doors that fully close for our current house to function for us as our family grows. read more

We worked with SDC to close our office off, we had an open wall an we where debating whether to frame it and close it off or adding a movable panel which allows more light. With cost of construction materials, going after this option was better. Not only did the project met our expectations from pricing perspective but also the installation and final product was beyond what we expected. We worked with the team over email and planning installations, had several visits to measure, provide feedback, prep the area and both our Sales lead Sakura, as well as the the installation team Jonathan and Lauren - did an amazing job. They brought a commercial level of engagement to a residential project and we are happy with the results. The finish of the door is modern and in alignment with our home. Great service all around! Starting from my time working with Jacy in the showroom through the final installation with Jonathan and Lauren. Jacy worked with me over many visits at the showroom and countless emails until I felt comfortable with my design and pricing choices. She was super helpful and was never pushy or made me feel rushed to make a decision. Jonathan and Lauren were highly professional and efficient during the installation process and made sure everything was perfect and shiny before they left. Marilyn was also very helpful on the phone, coordinating timing and keeping me aware of any changes to the eta on installation day. You may pay a little more for their services but the quality and customer service are well worth it and can't be beat! Highly recommend! read more

My spouse and I had the SDC out to repair and adjust a suspending sliding door on our master bedroom closet that was not operating smoothly and sticking. The technicians were on-time, professional and did a nice job completing the task to our satisfaction. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star rating is because this is a return visit for the same issue about one month ago that did not fully correct the problem. I found customer service responsive and scheduled an appointment within one week to remedy our problem. Will be watching how the repair holds up. read more

Just wanted to take a minute to warn others about the terrible service these folks provide. I ordered my doors on June 2014, to be delivered in September. First the doors were late and then they botched the scheduling for delivery a few times. I finally got my doors in the middle of October. When my doors arrived, they were BROKEN!! At that point they were nice enough to offer to replace the doors for me and waive the installation fee. (Which realistically was the least they could do) Fast forward 5 more months and my new doors arrived. As they were being installed I asked the installers about the installation fee, and they again confirmed that it would be WAIVED. One week after the doors were installed, the installation charge SHOWS UP ON MY CARD STATEMENT. I promptly called and Aimee (the person in charge in seattle) says there is nothing she can do and that I have to email James. I email James, who again was described as the only person who can help, but of course, he never got back to me. I know there is not many options in the Seattle area to get sliding doors. But given my experience THE SLIDING DOOR COMPANY SHOULD BE AVOIDED. read more

I planned to install a separator in the oversized living room for separating an office space a couple months ago, so I contacted SDC when I found their projects in the past online. Daniel from SDC showed us in the showroom on what we can do by sliding doors and explained us all the detailed options that we can pick. The more we saw and knew, the more details we wanted to customize for our home, especially for those kids-friendly options (everything costs money!!) Even we told Daniel we had very limited budgets, he did not stop showing us and letting us to customize our picks. He kept mentioning "I know it is a big investment for your home, so I want you to love what you pick". At the end, our picks made the material costs itself (not including the labour and taxes. After measurement, the cost may vary a little too because some adjustments/customizations may be needed for the actual things) even more than our budget. Daniel did not take away any options on what we picked; instead, he worked with us in very details and made the final price under our budget. How? please ask Daniel when you are shopping with SDC. I am looking forward to seeing the product coming to my home! I have nothing but good things to say about this company. We worked with Aimee on two recent projects. A total of 4 doors. (3 closets and 1 slide by door.) They were professional, timely, and helpful. We changed our design several times, due to modifications to the openings in our house. Working with Aimee, everything ended up correct. Yes, they might be a little expensive but it is worth it. ( I am skeptical of the the quality of big box stores.) They are comparable to similar doors with the similalr quality. They also, are made to fit you speciifce I did install them my self with very little difficulty if any. (You may opt for intsalltion if you are not handy with a few basic tools.) Yes, I dd have to cut one of the top chanels. This was easily done with a hack saw and I only had to do it because I narrowed the opening slightly after the order. No big thing as I was concerned, as this was due to my measurements that I supplied. In summary, this is a decent product and I would use them again. read more

I had a very unique hallway closet situation and could not find bypass doors thin enough to fit...the Sliding Door Company had the product that worked! Their style worked well with my modern/industrial look. It was a very easy process to design/order and Cale was very responsive as we worked through the process. Scheduling survey and install was very straightforward and timely. Only suggestion is that they reduce the order wait time for standard door sizes. I will use them again! read more

The doors look great, operate smoothly and have really changed the appearance of a medium sized bedroom, making it look more spacious because I no longer have a door swinging into the room. However, the installation took hours and the guys had forgotten a part. They also indicated that the measurements that had been taken by a previous guy were not right, but then told us that the first guy didn't work for the company any more. Not what I wanted to hear. It worked out fine in the end and would have been a 5-star review if the installation process had gone more smoothly. read more

I knew the minute I saw a hanging door in my orthodontists office that it would be perfect for our entrance to the master bathroom we were remodeling. We had pantry doors that we hated from the moment we moved into our house. The Sliding Door Company sales person was very helpful and accurate with the information she provided about the product. The doors came in exactly when they were promised and the installers were prompt, professional and meticulous. Our door opening presented a lot of problems, but the installers kept at it until it was perfect. I have a beautiful door at last and the dogs have not figured out how to get into it. I am very happy with my new door and plan to replace all our closet doors with Sliding Door Company products. read more

Amazing product and amazing service! We had a unique opening that needed to be closed up, but wanted to have as small of a footprint as possible, let in plenty of light and still be private. Building a wall seemed terribly daunting... enter The Sliding Door Company. From beginning to end, I was treated like I was their top priority. Aimee offered me many options and was available to answer my many questions. The waiting time for custom sliding doors can seem unbearably long, but they were ready when they said they would be and set up my install as soon as they knew the doors were coming off the line. Installation was fast and the 2 gentlemen were delightful, even though I was forced to work while they were installing, basically sitting beside them the entire time. They went around me and I hardly knew they were there. We now have a wall of beautiful sliding doors between our master bedroom and ensuite bath (a huge necessity!) and can finally use our bathroom with privacy. Everyone who has seen them has nothing but praise for how great they look and how effortlessly they glide. I was a little worried that they would stick out like a sore thumb in our 60's vintage house, but they blend right in. Nothing but praise for the whole process and the final product! read more

We needed a door to create two rooms in the lower level of our home. We contacted the Sliding Door Company and they did a great job for us. Their showroom is very nice and displays their products really well. We were able to choose our doors and have a good sense of what it would look like once installed. It looks like others had some unfortunate experiences with measuring and installation but our experience was very good. We have only had our doors for a few weeks but so far they are working beautifully and do exactly what we wanted them to do. I bought a sliding door to go across our living room/hall opening so we could make a guest room out of our living room. I had used a portable screen before but it wasn't high enough. I debated a long time before spending so much money, but the result is fantastic. It is quality and looks beautiful either open or closed. We had it professionally installed by their installers. They even installed it so I wouldn't have to remove the pictures on the wall in the living room that are covered by the open doors. Aimee did a great job helping me decide how to configure it so it looks like a part of the house and not just an add on. I special ordered a sliding door to sit on a bath tub deck after visiting their show room. I liked the presentation in the show room which allowed me to see the quality and options available to me. The order took about 2 weeks longer than the 8 week estimate which wasn't a problem for me. The installation was today and took just a couple of hours. No problems with the fit or the doors at all. I was warned that it would not fit tight to the walls, and it doesn't.. again I don't think it is a problem. It looks better than I had hoped. I am considering another job for them to do. Would definitely use them again. read more
