Had a family breakfast here last week after my wife found them on a whim and the place looked too interesting not to try. Was deceivingly large inside and a bit non-traditional with the seating and ordering and serving but good for them making the space work. We ordered four different waffles and split them all. All were great, but I think we all enjoyed the one we'd picked the most (s'mores for me). Whipped cream had a very thick texture to it and I really enjoyed it. I think my only knock was we showed up around 9:30 and it was not very busy and it took awhile to get served. Not painfully long, but longer than expected. By the time we left, there were a lot more tables sat and a huge line at the ordering counter, so I can only assume that those people would have waited a very long time for their meals. Driving through and looked up the closest breakfast spot and this was it and so happy it was!!! We got the apple cobbler liege waffle, the blueberry pancake and the two egg plate scrambled with cheese, home fries, crispy bacon and homemade bread. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious! The fruit compote was homemade and real fruit, so dang good! The pancake was huge!!! And the bread made in house was especially yummy!! We stopped here as a midway point on our roadtrip and were so happy we did! This place is Amazing!! Everything is homemade, organic and cooked with love! Couldn't come here and not try the signature Sloppy Waffle dish. The waffle batter is definitely Belgium style, sweet and a little more dense than regular waffles. The chicken sandwich was on the sweeter side since the batter is sweetened. The food was delicious and coffee was on point. I am so sad to be writing this review. I LOVED coming here years ago and just went for the first time in a few years, and to say that everything was deeply disappointing would be an understatement. All elements of service or coziness are gone. The stoneware mugs have been replaced by paper to-go cups. The plates are plastic. The silverware is brought in parchment sleeves. All sauces are in tiny disposable containers. The coffee billed as imported from Puerto Rico was truly delicious in years past- the coffee I just had there today ranks substantially below McDonald's coffee. The scrambled eggs were rubbery on the verge of inedible. The waffles were deflated, flat, and bland. The home fries came out cold and unseasoned, in chunks large enough to be a quartered potato. The ambiance was always sort of bare-bones, but there was a warmth to the place that is gone. It felt like a food court experience, as if everything is prepared to go. I have been wanting to go to this spot for years and finally went, and it was totally worth it! I got the spicy chicken and waffles. Came here on a Friday morning for brunch and almost left due to the entrance being hidden around the side of the building - their front door was locked which threw us off, but someone was nice enough to tell us where the real door was. We were seated quite quickly and the staff was super friendly and nice. The inside was very quaint a felt pretty homey - there were a few other parties there as well, but it didn't feel too too busy. We placed our orders at the front and our food didn't take too long to come out. The chicken and waffles was pretty large for its price which I thought made it a good deal. It tasted yummy as well! I hadn't been to SW for years. Service was friendly today, but the ordering and food delivery system seemed convoluted. I planned to eat outside and I walked inside to order at the register, but I was given a menu and a table outside. I was told to come back inside when I knew what I wanted. I did that and the food was later brought to my table. I don't need a full sit down experience. But, even if I could have just selected a table after I ordered, which is what happens at places like Hartford Baking Co. or Riley's Hot Dogs, that would have streamlined the process. In any event, although I prefer savory breakfast items, I have to respect the S'mores waffle's full court press of stylish sweets. The waffle was topped with graham cracker crumbs, a whipped cream topping (that may have had marshmallow flavor) and chocolate squiggles. I guess I just wasn't expecting to be seated, and then told to place my order at the counter. It's as if everything is made to-go in spite of the fact that they do have tables for indoor eating. Coffee is self-serve in paper cups and the waffles arrived on paper plates. The Bananas Foster was a tiny thing served in a paper box with five thin slices of banana, while the chicken and waffles was more substantial (but so was the price). I've been a patron of this restaurant since it opened for one reason- consistently excellent waffles and bacon. That changed about 4 years ago with COVID. And although I wanted to return, recent health issues have prevented me from doing so. I had 2 hips replaced about 2-3 years ago and am currently dealing with spinal stenosis. On a trip back from the VA on Friday, I decided to stop by and try to walk in. I made it about 2/3 of the way in the rain when the pain set in, and I started to walk like Tim Conway playing the old dentist on the Carol Burnett show. The owner saw me from inside, waddling in the rain like a duck on ice, and very kindly helped me into the restaurant, where she helped me to my seat and got me some paper towels to help me dry off and some hot tea to warm me up. I had a fantastic breakfast and when I left, the owner's husband, who doubles as a cook, took one of the umbrellas from an outside table, walked me to my car, and then brought my to go order out to me. I have relatives that don't treat me as well. I can't say enough good things about the food, or the people who work there. I've never seen a customer treated less than politely there and I've never had a bad breakfast there. Please go and support this restaurant so they can expand their hours of operation (they are currently only open Thursday- Sunday). It comes with whipped cream which looks like a scoop of ice cream. Cafe con leche was an ok coffee. As other Yelpers mentioned, they are cash only and there is an ATM inside. There system of ordering is very confusing for the first timers. There is a counter in the front where you order food and take a seat. They bring it to the table. As people in the line try to decide and order, line can grow pretty long. In addition to taking the order, the lady in the counter try to make the coffee at the same time. Whole thing makes the line longer, and the folks standing behind very grumpy, especially the regular customers who look at you like "don't you even know that". Even the lady taking the order gets grumpy in a while. Essentially their ordering system is a psychology experiment, where you can see how ordinary men and women become extremely irritable when you make them stand in a line at a hangry state. I wish they change this ordering system to a regular table service system soon. read more

I really like the waffles here! I usually get bananas foster, and my husband usually gets one with chicken on it. They're delicious, and the side dishes (home fries etc) are also really good. Their ordering and queuing system is so weird. They take you to a table, but you just immediately get back up and stand in line (and the line is always LONG). I'm not clear on why they assign you to a table first. The restaurant often isn't very clean. Floor is often sticky, underneath the tables hasn't been swept, etc. I am definitely not a clean freak or a germophobe, so this isn't something I normally notice about restaurants, but it seems like they don't have enough staff to keep up with what a large place it is (they have three rooms full of seating). read more

The woman who greeted us seemed so excited when we told her it was our first time here and told us about the food and how we order. Price is a little steep for a small waffle but it's pretty good so I give them that! They use home made dough to make the waffles not batter which is pretty interesting! They have taken the "service" out of food service...no waitress to take your order .. after being seated we were informed the prices were different then those printed on menu...We had to get up to order our food at the register . Food did come out quick , but the home fries were under cooked, crunchy and chunky . My omelet tasted great , my partners omelet had a funny after taste . For someone who isn't a chocolate lover, this waffle was simply amazing and drool worthy! Every bite was decadent, crunchy, and delicious! I am not even a fan of whipped cream but believe it or not, it made the whole waffle taste so much better! I am so glad I tried this waffle. First time I've been here in 6 years. On a Sunday afternoon it was crazy busy with so many pick-up orders and a few seated customers that came in while I waited for my own pick-up order. It was impossible to keep up with the amount of orders being placed. The staff did a great job managing it though and made sure not to miss anyone new that walked in when there were so many people inside waiting that it's easy to miss someone. They were very nice and thanked us for our patience. It looked so stressful, I hope the pay is worth it or perhaps they can get a bit of a $bonus$ because, UGH. The food was what I expected based on the great reviews I've heard through word of mouth. Ordered the Sloppy Waffle and it was indeed very sloppy. Waffle was delicious, eggs were perfect (ordered medium). Next time I'll ask for crispier home fries though. I live 5 minutes away, so I can see myself coming more often in the future. This is the saddest review I've ever had to write. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. I moved out of town about 40 minutes away, so I haven't been in some time. Happened to be in the area for a friends appt, and we stopped for breakfast. I was so excited. The service was fine, nothing extraordinary. The guy at the counter was nice. We ordered our food. My 4 year old is obsessed with pancakes, and I had my friend really excited for the food. The food comes out and it does not look appetizing at all. Served on cheap paper plates and paper baskets. My son's pancake was flat, no fluffy texture. He took one bite and that was it he didn't like it. My friend is polite and said "it's fine," but she barely ate any of it. That crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside was no longer there. I got the sloppy waffle and it was not the same. Didn't look nearly as appetizing as it used to and just kind of bland. I don't know if the original owner told it or something but I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend it any more. So sad because it used to be so good. read more

This review is a couple months late because life gets in the way but... The food was pretty good, but the price was a little exorbitant for the amount of food provided. I had gotten a banana foster waffle and it was the tiniest thing, which was so disappointing for how good it was, although I do wish there were more bananas. The weird thing was how ordering and payment was performed. Given that we're in a pandemic, I really don't think it's appropriate to have patrons line up by the coffee carafes and other tables to place an order- not enough social distancing, and people tend to touch everything while they're waiting in line. I also don't think that having buffet style coffee carafes is really in the best interests and safety of the staff and clients... read more

When walking in you're escorted through a maze before being told where to sit in one of three crowded dining rooms. Finally as you order it seems the owner of the restaurant takes your order, she was nice but the pricing is where it gets you. My boyfriend and I ordered the spicy Jeff on a waffle which by the menu comes out to 12.99 each, affordable. We also ordered two cappuccinos which were great, priced on the menu for 2.34 each. Once it was time to pay our bill came to 46 dollars.. based off menu prices before tax 30.66 would be the total. When I asked about the pricing the woman just pointed to a note that says they've increased pricing and gave a receipt that was not itemized. 16 dollar increase?! Blows my mind, I enjoy supporting local businesses but this is outrageous. Let's talk about the food quality of my 46 dollar breakfast. The waffle was decent as well as the eggs but the chicken... hard, overcooked, and rubbery was hard to eat. The home fries are extremely overcooked to where they all fall apart with little to no seasoning. Wow, what to say about this place other than the name isn't just a play on words. The chicken and waffle was oily, dense and the wrong flavor. It tasted like Italian breading smothered in a smoked Chipotle seasoning over a thick waffle that was gummy. The homefries were undercooked, mushy and were grasping at the same bad Chipotle seasoning as the chicken. The flavoring was not good and the paper plate it was served on didn't come with the ability to add extra condiments. 10/10 would not recommend. Also, the manager offered zero flexibility in seating despite the restaurant having three extensive rooms and being 75% empty. Who knew finding a table for two would be such a challenge. Drove the wrong way down the highway because I "knew' where I was going. Found it when I turned around like my passenger told me to! Glad I did find this great little place. The greeting was sincere and the menu was full. I was not full when I went in but am now. The Liege waffle is very different from what I am used to. It's very filling. The single order of a waffle with butter and syrup [no powdered sugar, please] looked mini but ended filling up my dining partner. I ordered the bacon waffle with two poached eggs on toast. What a plateful that was. The eggs were perfect and runny over the excellent toasted bread. The home fries were seasoned to perfection. The waffle covered in bacon and syrup was delicious.
