Usually we are here fairly early enough that there isn't a wait, but now that they've included a car/local vendor event, this plaza and restaurant gets packed! I've branched out from the breakfast special to different omelettes and scrambles. Food is always consistent and comes out fairly quickly from the kitchen. We are usually in and out within the hour. We like the outdoor seating, but sometimes when we have a larger party, we take up spots in the booths or tables. So breakfast special is always on-point. Comes with egg, sausage or bacon, hash browns, and French toast or pancake. Can never go wrong, but these days I've been trying the omelettes. I really like the country, farmers, and the ABC. Friends have also ordered their specialties like huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, country fried steak, corned beef, chicken and waffles - and also from their lunch menu like the tuna sandwich or classic burger. Don't think there's anything we didn't like. They also allow for customizations but that can add up. There's some pastries that are pretty nice, but prices on those are on the higher side. Currently they have an offer for an early bird special where you come before 8 and get a free pastry with an order or something. White guy with backwards had and facial hair seems to hate his job and all customers. The cutest darn cafe that gives you that hometown diner feel but with a cool breeze because you're only a couple blocks from the beach. The food is good, and the service is great. Oof always drove by this cafe and it looks so cute and SMALL! Definitely looked like a vibe and brunch always makes me happy no matter what mood i'm in. Once we arrived we got sat outside and had our fur pup on our lap while dining. They are a dog friendly cafe! I don't exactly remember what I got, it was either an omelet or the special spud ( I think it was the special spud) which was pretty good but I was super scared I was going to get a stomach ache. The potatoes and food was very very greasy. The plate was covered in grease, I feel like they could've at least wiped some of it up but it felt like a puddle in my meal. First time come here for lunch with my Lovely. I've driven past this shop for many years on my way to the beach, yet I had never really noticed it before. Today--Easter Sunday--while driving back from the coast, we found that most restaurants were either closed or opening late. When we spotted this place as we drove by, we turned around and stopped in for lunch. The shop is small and simple, yet bright and clean; with all the doors open, the natural light and fresh air from the sea create a wonderfully airy atmosphere. Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by the very friendly staff, and the menu offered a wide variety of choices. The food was served quickly. What I particularly liked was how little grease there was on the dishes at this establishment. We thoroughly enjoyed my meal . Thanks to the attentive care of the highly responsible staff. Visited for the classic cars and coffee event, was told to order coffee inside at the register. I stood there for 7 minutes with no acknowledgment from ANY of the 7 employees who walked by me. No "hello", no "we will be right with you", no eye contact or smile. Turned around and left. I understand it was busy but a simple greeting goes a long way. We went here Sunday for their vintage car and coffee, there were very few cars, service SUCKED, workers give zero eye contact, definitely didn't ask if we were ready to order, we should have left at that point. We found a table inside right away on a busy Saturday morning, and we were attended to promptly even though business was already booming. After we ordered our food, we didn't have to wait long for them to arrive either. The menu might not have exotic and sophisticated selection, but the food was prepared with skill and care. I ordered the Florentine, and I loved every bite. Mine didn't come with the famous hash brown, so I sampled some from my wife's plate. It was indeed delicious and crispy, but not overdone. I don't usually leave reviews, but this place honestly disappointed me. I'm embarrassed I even chose to wait and eat here before going somewhere better. I'll start with the one positive: the blueberry muffin was really good. Now the negatives. We ordered the tomato soup and it was extremely salty like overwhelming. We had to send it back. After that, I ordered a burrito with potatoes, and the portion of potatoes was really small (I even took a picture because it was that bad). It honestly made me frustrated. The burrito itself was just okay, nothing special. We also ordered a salad and it honestly sucked barely any dressing and not mixed properly. On top of that, our waitress had a dirty shirt with noticeable stains, which made the whole experience feel even less clean. To make things worse, they still tried to charge us for the soup even though we returned it, which felt really sneaky and unprofessional. It's lovely and a pretty spot with outdoor seating on a nice day. But who is cooking the Mexican breakfast Classics, like Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles? They need their Abuella's recipes. These are so Americanized -- chips with salsa drizzled are not Chilaquiles. They need a quick course in ranchero sauce and chip soaking. Very disappointing. Also, corned beef hash isn't made by placing corned beef over hash browns. I want it to be better! My friends won't go with us because of the inauthentic offerings. Could be great! Service people are great. Good coffee, etc. and a fabulous burger. But please rethink the classics. And make them classic! read more

It's my third visit to this place. Service is always excellent. The menu variety is great and they offer soy chorizo for vegans and vegetarians. I have personally had the Texan omelette, which is served with chili, onions and cheese and I find it delicious! The chili has beans and it's such a rich and hearty breakfast. I usually get fruit on the side instead of potatoes. The potatoes although are seasoned well and cooked thoroughly, I could just eat them alone. We've been going to The Small Cafe for several years and have loved it. Not only is it convenient but we loved the food. However the last several times we've gone we've been disappointed. The place is dirty, the bathroom is filthy and the booths are ripped up and not fixed. The food has gone down hill as well. We tried one last time yesterday and we were disappointed again. My husband had the chili burger and he said the chili tasted like it was yesterday's. I had a tuna sandwich and I got white bread ( not even sourdough) when I asked for wheat. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to even come take our order and then another 20 minutes to get our food. There were only 4 tables occupied. I have never written a bad review but we have been so disappointed. We use to love just walking to this place and having breakfast or lunch on the weekends. Hope things change read more

Finally decided to try a new breakfast spot as we've been eyeing it for quite some time. The day we went, there was a power outage, but the owner was there, explained the situation and offered us a couple muffins. We were already planning another day to give it a try, but where so impressed by the muffins, we decided to go back sooner rather than later. Visit #2 was a success! Seated right away indoors, service was fantastic and food was impressive. I really appreciate being checked on numerous times by multiple staff besides our waitress. Ordered a Chai latte with oat milk and blueberry muffin. Chai was great and so was the muffin. For an entree, i got the Santa Fe chicken salad. It Normally comes with chicken, tortilla strips, iceberg lettuce, black beans (on the menu but didn't come in the salad), corn, tomatoes, red onions, cilantro (also on the menu but didn't come in the salad), monterrey jack cheese, Avocado with BBQ ranch dressing. Tasted pretty good, not really my favorite but still worth trying. We have been here several times in the recent months and very impressed with the new expanded menu. Breakfast is served during lunch hours. Wait for it ..they serve alcohol! Nice Bloody Mary on a Saturday morning (for Hubby not me!), nothing beats that! They kept their outdoor dining. Most patrons come by foot but there is some spots in the parking lot and street parking. Weekdays are easy for parking. Weekends a bit harder. Service is outstanding. More than one server checks in with you including the owner. So much attention you would think you were at a Michelin rated restaurant. Food is typical breakfast and lunch fare. This is such a classic spot that can be easily over looked if you're just zooming by Naples on your way to or out of 2nd street. They have several items for breakfast and lunch but it's not overwhelming. The hosts are sweet and attentive and you receive utensils and water as you're seated. There's a lot of nice seating outdoors with umbrellas and indoor seating with a large open window. I ordered the classic burger and it was amazing. I love onion and it had a large raw red onion inside. The meat was cooked to perfection and the fries were perfectly crispy. Nice staff. Nice location. Great food. I am a fan of this business. It is a small, could be easy to miss cafe on 2nd street in Long Beach. We have been here twice so far and I will definitely be back. On our first visit I ordered the special spuds. I enjoyed them. I did hesitate on coming back for a bit because even though we were the first customers that day, as more people poured in we were kind of forgotten about as it got busy, which is fine but I hate waiting for the bill. :) Regardless though, I don't hold that against them. The staff is very friendly, and the food is very good. I do enjoy seeing when businesses are busy. There are reasons on why they get busy early, because its good! We came at opening again last weekend and there were already a few customers. I went with the chilaquiles this time and I really enjoyed them. They had really good flavor and they tasted very fresh. Off of 2nd Street in a small parking lot there is The Small Cafe. You can spot it from the street from the black and white sun umbrellas there is nice seating outside and inside with huge windows to enjoy the view, make the place feel open, and let sunshine in. The tables are covered with dining paper stamped with their brand logo "where size doesn't matter" instead of plain tabletop. It's not big, it is small, but what they do with he space makes it special. It is very welcoming, quaint, and intimate inside. The staff always makes you feel welcome here. Upon sitting down and given menus, they took my drink order and decided to go with a vanilla cafe latte among all the offerings they had the cafe latte was amazingly delicious. I decided to try their hash breakfast. It looks so good and tasted so good. It was eggs over easy on top of savory hash and top of a bed of hash browns. During my breakfast our server checked on us a few times ensuring we were ok. Sometime during breakfast I needed water and she read my mind and brought it over. The food, atmosphere and, service were top notch. Really important and impressive to me is their support for veterans and offering a veterans discount. Having said all that, there's nothing great about the food or drinks--albeit has a homemade appeal--but nothing spectacular about them.
