The staff here are extremely friendly, very knowledgeable and get you in and out as quickly as possible. I had a shop more local to me, give me the run around, hassle me about my smog legal headers, and make a big deal out of little things that are completely CARB compliant, eventually resulting in TWO fails and a complaint to the BAR. Most shops don't want to pass a 5.0 Mustang, just because of what it is. Smog King understood my frustrations and explained to me why it is most shops do what they do. They had me in and out in under 30 minutes (which is less time than the last guy at Cherry Pit harassed me about my headers), and the owner is right there working with his customers, hands on. 10/10, recommending this place to anyone who needs a smog done. I did my research in the Solano County for Smog Test shops that do business on a Sunday. Only a handful are available and they cost well up to eighty bucks!?! I couldn't believe the low price that Smog King offered when I saw their ad in the Grapevine. The $30 Sunday Special can't be beat!! Miguel was very accommodating even when there were 2 customers before me and folks coming in every 5-10 minutes. Business is brisk here in Fairfield. I appreciate his courtesy and professionalism. After he takes your paperwork it's about 15-20 minutes then you're out the door. You can hand in your coupon and they'll even honor the discount if you happen to have their Smog King bumper sticker. That was novel. They take cash or card. Very convenient! It was a bit chilly in the office that seats 8. I called them today to see if I needed an appt. He quoted me $45 and I said I had a coupon for $28 online. He immediately told me the total coupon price and told me to come in. When I did he said I had to have printed the coupon so the price was $45. Of course there is nothing like that on the coupon and he did not tell me when he was on the phone with me. I went to Fairfield Quick Smog instead which quoted me the same low price on the phone with no coupon necessary. I went right there and they were fast and honest. This place is absolutely awful and has horrible customer service. They will tell you your stock vehicle doesn't pass smog and still charge you full price even though this has never been an issue. I'd highly suggest going somewhere else and avoid this awful place of business. They're scammers and steal your hard earned money. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. They failed me after they took off my engine cover, which no other smog shop has ever done and told me I failed smog because a small vacuum hose had been showing signs of old age (16 year old car) which has minor rubber break down but they told me it was disintegrated which it was not. The heater core shut off valve hose was also disconnected under the engine cover when I checked it after I left but the heater core shut off valve visible was not disconnected. They also marked my "disintegrated" hides with a white marker. I will be filing a claim with the bureau of automotive repair (BAR) tomorrow and will be back in for a refund. read more

Took my diesel truck in for a smog test. Truck ran great, there were no check engine lights on,and everything seemed to be good. The tech told me that the OBDII reading was incomplete and that I should drive it around for a couple of days and than bring it back and if it passed I would be charged an additional 30 dollars ontop of the 30 he was charging me for this test right now, but if it didn't pass he wouldn't charge me until I got it too pass the OBDII scan. Four days latter I returned and I had driven the truck 225 miles. Plenty of miles for the computer to read all the sensors . After the 2nd test he told me the same bad news and that I needed to go have a full diagnostic scan done from a repair shop, and then hit me up for 20 dollars, and said it would be an additional 30 dollars more when it did pass. I went to Monty's Automotive the very next day and had him do a smog check and my truck passed with flying colors. I'll never go to smog king again... read more

I was nervous about going here because of their low review star ratings but am very glad I went anyways. Service was very quick and friendly, reasonably priced, they were open when other smog centers were closed, and all around it was great. I chatted with the owner as well and he was very kind. I mentioned that I was very impressed with their service, especially considering the ugly Yelp reviews, and without being disrespectful of the unhappy customer, his explanation put me at ease. Rolled into the Smog King around 12 pm yesterday afternoon to get my pickup smog for the renewal of my vehicle registration this month. Two words come to mind: fast and courteous. I was greeted by a young man (employee) before I even made it completely out of my vehicle....and within moments, the young man was already setting my truck up for its smog inspection. Literally, 5 minutes later, my inspection was done. I kid you not, in and out in less than 10 minutes total. These guys are on it. This was the second time in a row that I have used this facility and will undoubtedly continue to use them in the future. So if you need a smog check quick, fast and in a hurry? These people failed my 1990 Mazda Miata and said it was because my ignition timing was off. I have a timing light at home, so I checked it myself and it was perfectly within spec. I had a smog technician at another shop confirm and have it pass the same day. Either they had a tech who didn't know what they we're doing, or they were lying in order for me to pay again for a re-test. Either way, be careful with these guys if you have an older car that is OBD1 (Pre-96'), they may not know what they are doing when it comes to checking these things. read more

VERY ghetto business, with less than helpful employees. We informed the man that we had the paper work for new headers and a K&N air filter, he just blew us off and made us wait in the freezing cold. When it was finally our turn, he started the inspection part of the test, and then told us he had to fail us, but continued to blow us off when we told him we had all of the paper work. He eventually realized what we were saying, and still failed the car. When we got home, we realized that the guy gave us the wrong registration paper back. this smog place is prob the WORST in the area. they are extremely shady and all of the employees seem to not have any proper knowledge on cars in general. my boyfriend and i have been loyal customers to smog king for years, but what happened today was the final straw. we first went in to get a smog on our '94 e36 and they told my boyfriend that the vin # on the catalytic converter was scraped off therefore could not pass (this was a few days ago). my boyfriend, who is very knowledgeable about cars in general, understood the issue and got a new cats to replace it. when he finished installing it he returned and the guy at smog king said that the new cats is "defective" because it was not on the original car (the cats we used to replace it was from a e36 of the same generation and works perfectly). we now are struggling to find a place to smog our car in the fairfield area because every shop in the vicinity is saying smog king has a habit of failing people and sending them away, and they want us to return to smog king. so thank you, smog king, for your shady, pathetic, and awful service, and i could only hope your business fails soon! read more

This place is a joke! Took my car there, which passed smog btw but as I started driving off my traction and stability control lights went off on my dash! Took it back to ask them about it and they refused to take any responsibility for it! They offered to restart my battery which would only hide a problem that they caused! I'm not sure what type of equipment they use but they caused an issue and were getting an attitude about me complaining about it!
