I honestly hate comparing restaurants but this one is nothing like the Concord location.. in a bad way. This locations has its ups and down. Some days the meats are tender and delish and some days it's tough as leather.. as if they cooked it in a hurry. But all honesty, you can't go wrong when ordering the chicken wings. The menu has changed a bunch. You can't get all choices of meats when ordering the 2-5 meat tray. Everything is added with a price. Their brisket has a good taste. And their sauce options on the table is wonderful. We came one night for a birthday dinner and had a little confutation with another customer. After all was said and done the customer continued to bicker with the hostess. The hostess was very immature about it and began to join in childish comments. I approached the hostess and told her it was very immature of her to act and talk the way she did in front of other customers. The manager eventually came out and "took care" of the other customer, but he didn't "take care" of my issue with his hostess' actions. I wasn't looking for anything free, I simply wanted him to make sure he was going to train her in a better way in front of customers. We came on a Wednesday night. Wasn't busy at all but it still took us 30 minutes to get seated and served and still had to get seated separately with our party of 13. We sat in the front of the restaurant by the host counter. While eating they decided to clean off their counter with Lysol spray.. stirring in the air, you can strongly smell Lysol while eating.. was not pleasant. I didn't bother saying anything because we were almost done anyways. But I definitely won't be back to this location. I'll drive the distance to get a better experience in Concord. read more

So back to the review, I found this place on Yelp, of course and I actually was at the Webb Road flea market and decided on lunch here. First off, the place is immaculate in regards to cleanliness and decor. We were immediately greeted and sat within 1-2 minutes. Taylor our server (my new BFF) went over the menu thoroughly and gave us some GREAT recommendations. Now to the food, HUNNY, this is the BEST BBQ I've ever had and I worked for a Texas BBQ restaurant in Lafayette, CA so I'm familiar. One of the few places around to have some good Texas style brisket and delicious potato salad. I would say It's better to order ahead and pick up, service and parking there can be chaotic and crowded even on a weeknight. Order taking may be not as slow, but it will take a long time to get your order. Overall food is great and totally worth the wait. I will come back soon and bring hubby with me. We decided to have an early dinner here after a trip to the transportation museum. It was a 10-minute drive from Spencer. We were sat right away and after our drink, came the cornbread. It came in a cute skillet with cinnamon butter and was pretty good. I wanted to try a variety of items so I ordered the rib and turkey plate with potato salad and greens. The meats are the star. I had a sample of my husband's brisket and the pulled pork from my son. All were tender and you could taste the smoke. If I had to pick a favorite it would have been the turkey. It was so moist and I would order it again. The collards had a kick and the potato salad was pretty good. We all liked the sweet bbq sauce. Our server was good and the food took a reasonable amount of time to come out. We will keep this on our Salisbury rotation list. read more

If you are in Salisbury and want some BBQ that is but more classy than a "smoke pit" come here. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. We had the burnt ends platter and brisket spud. The sides are ample and tastes. I recommend the white and red slaw, and the fried okra. The sauces are good but truly it's the meat when you have BBQ. We stopped in for lunch on Saturday, 12/11. The hostess who greeted us was so grumpy. We clearly were imposing upon her. I am glad we didn't let her sour attitude turn us away as first time diners because our waitress was awesome. I had the turkey plate with broccoli salad and mac and cheese. Husband had the burnt end sandwich with collards and we ordered a half rack. I really enjoyed my meal: turkey was smoky and flavorful and sides were as you'd expect them. My husband enjoyed his sandwich but said his greens needed some vinegar. The place was packed by the time we left so clearly a local favorite. I had the baked beans which had chunks of pork in them and sweet potato casserole which I saved for desert. We took home much of our turkey. When we got to the car we gave my dog who was waiting patiently in the car a bite; now she won't leave me alone wanting more. The barbecue is pretty good but know that the 7 meat feast, which is supposed to be a shareable family meal, comes with very small portions for the sides. For $160 dollars you would think a family of four or even six could get more than a spoonful apiece of each side. Food was cold and very fatty. Brisket was very fatty. Pulled pork was swimming in vinegar. Baked potato would not even melt the butter. My husband started feeling sick when we were leaving and puked twice in the parking lot. Total disappointment!!! Will not be going back. Portion legit the size of your whole head, like if you had a big head too! I had the burnt ends and they were pretty freaking tasty! Not the best burnt ends I've ever had, but they were pretty darn good and there was so much! I could've eaten it for at least 304 meals! The meal came with 2 sides (I chose mac n cheese and potato salad) and cornbread/texas toast. These sides were on point! My friends had the brisket and pulled pork salad and it was too much for any of us to make even a dent in the food. So I really recommend sharing these meals and would say 1 meal is good for at least 2 moderately hungry people. Service was super quick since we came right at opening and the restaurant definitely got more crowded as the lunch hour drew closer and was super packed. There definitely can be a wait so I recommend coming closer to 11 than 12 if you want to get a seat! Parking wise is pretty easy if you go to one of the street parking/marked parking spots around the block. It's in a central location being in downtown and if you want to grab a dessert, there's plenty of options nearby! Definitely make your way to this place as it's worth the trip! read more

I knew of this place because of the many awards they've won, and I finally was able to see for myself if it was worth all the hype. And..it is! I grew up in an area where annual church BBQ events were a thing and if you weren't in school then you were at church helping. I know BBQ and this is great BBQ. Doesn't get much better than my favorite China Grove spot - Gary's BBQ (check them out too). It's in the cute quaint downtown area of Salisbury, NC. Parking is limited but they do have some spaces out back and an accessible alley to walk down. Don't let the front full you, this place has a lot more space than it looks. Long tables perfect for large groups and families. Let's talk food. I ordered a ton of it because if I must drive 30 + minutes, then I'm going to make it worth it. For an appetizer, we ordered the brisket queso chips and torts. While it was not my favorite of all the items I tried, it was still pretty darn good! That brisket was tender, and jalapenos were fresh! Even the little tot with us enjoyed it! For our entrees I was on the fence between the wings (because I heard they were HUGE) and of course the BBQ plate. So, I ordered both. They allowed me to order per wing, so I ordered 4 tossed in Dragon Sauce. OMG..what a nice sweet and spicy combo! The wings lived up to their reputation in size. I could only eat two! Next up was the smoked pulled BBQ plate and thankfully I ordered a small plate. It came with two sides and no BBQ plate is complete without some kind of greens and mac and cheese. I ordered the fried okra and their mac and cheese. Both were delicious and reminded me of Sunday dinners with my family. The BBQ was outstanding and cooked to perfection! You can tell that the meat took hours to cook and it paid off in flavor! The portion was also something to write home about. It served as my dinner too! My friend ordered the blue chicken salad with smoked blueberry BBQ chicken, blueberries, blue cheese, tomatoes, corn, cucumbers served with romaine blend of lettuce. By the hostess Nicole who was very sweet and even joked around with my husband when he told her we had 200, she showed us to our table and got our drinks for us while we waited for our waitress. Our waitress Taylor was amazing she was very helpful and patient with us being it was our first time there, she was fast with refills and continued to check on us regularly and always had a smile on when she approached us. The food came out fast and was great you get a lot and I mean a lot I had enough for two meals so did my husband. Food is always good. I do like the fact that you can select your flavor. I'm going to always do vinegar and hot sauce personally. I get the family meal with 2 lbs of bbq and it's always more than enough. I don't like coleslaw and don't eat the bbq on the buns so I wish there was an option to pick the side and get hush puppies instead without an up charge. I have two favorite BBQ places in North Carolina -- 12 Bones (in Asheville) and The Smoke Pit -- in our experience ,neither will ever do you wrong! Loved the tomato-based BBQ sauce especially. Last time I was near here it was much summery-er and the line to get in was ridiculous. MLB and I stopped in last Sunday afternoon after our assembly, it was about 45°F and sunny with no lines, no waiting. We got inside and found a table to the left, asked for water and menus and then took a while figuring it all out. Collard greens were not available, neither was the smoked turkey or them little alcohol wipes... not sure if there's a connection there. Anyway, we got some toasts and "a little corn bread" to have with some very green beans - firm, lightly salted, and bacony (but not too bacony) with a touch of sweet - and sweet potato casserole that seemed more like an excellent dessert than a dinner side. Our burnt ends could have used a little more burnt-ing but were smoked up nicely with a little bit of sweet red goodness and 'drippings' that let you know no doctor ever condoned ordering them. The sliced brisket was a little leaner, light marbling plus a fat cap that paired well with the sizzling sauce; no pink center, no red ring, but still better than most and a squirt of sizzle-sauce sets it up well. The 'bama chicken quarters were dressed in a milder version of horsey-sauce that let the smokey chickeness shine through, yea for chicken!! read more
