Stumbled on this jewel recently and glad I did. Intended on getting the BBQ but ended up with the baby flounder. "Baby" is a stretch here as the salt and pepper fried fish was actually a generous size and portion of three pieces. I love this place, and usually the staff. It saddens me that they've had to cut their hours SO much. The past couple of times the pick up window help has been very rude, and even though I've requested condiments for my dinners, I NEVER get them. That's so frustrating. I like this place. My favorite is Mondays when the shrimp platter is on special though the last time I got it, I was disappointed in how few shrimp were on it. Even the waitress agreed that wasnt what they usually did and she brought me more shrimp, that was most appreciated. So good it blew my mind. I have coworkers who buy this nearly everyday it seems. So I decided to try it to see what all the fuss was about. I pulled up and was kinda nervous looking at the humble exterior. I ordered a bbq sandwhich with red slaw. Usually I don't get slaw and was like, let's see it through. The woman in the drive through was super friendly which caught me off guard. Like a breath of fresh air. True southern hospitality exists here. I didn't have to wait too long, probably about minutes and someone in front of me was waiting longer. However it's worth it. I was stunned at the sheer size of the bbq sandwhich. It was huge and with some fries only $8 including tip. The slaw was to die for. I was so scared I messed up and got a mayo based slaw which I hate, but the red slaw was lightly pickled and sweet, similar to some lightly pickled korean side dishes. The pork was amazing, tender with little bits of smoky bark. It wasn't overly powerful with the smoked flavor, it was very light. It didnt have alot of seasoning, however you didnt really need it. Between the red slaw and bbq sauce they provide, the sandwhich was flavored to perfection. Definitely will be coming here more often. read more

Nothing fancy here...the service was good and the food solid if unspectacular. To be fair, the collards were very good, as was the fried okra. The BBQ was a mixed bag. We got chopped pork, and our portions were pretty lean. That was a plus for my wife, who doesn't like fatty BBQ. But it also left the meat pretty dry. The good news was that their vinegar sauce was pretty good--nice peppery bite that still wasn't too much for my wife's more sensitive palate. But there was another reason we needed the sauce: I couldn't taste any smoke flavor in the meat on its own. I shouldn't have been surprised, because when I took a sniff, I couldn't smell smoke inside or outside the building. With the sauce, the BBQ was good but nothing special. If you're nearby and want to eat *now*, they're worth a shot. Manage your expectations and you won't be disappointed. read more

Just visiting VA hospital in Salisbury, looking for a place to have lunch. Happened upon this place and was pleasantly surprised to find pretty decent food. I had the Thursday meatloaf special with fried okra and sweet potato stiks and hushpuppies. All was delicious, although the meatloaf was very dense and dry. Thankfully there was some barbecue sauce on the table which served very nicely to moisten it up. Plentiful serving sizes made for the necessity of take out trays for us "olderly" folks. Good amounts of food, not a very classy place, we both ordered the bbq tray, it came out in a tiny little cardboard tray (wrapped in wax paper)with a pile of semi cold meat and a mountain of very dry slaw, the meat was also dry and looked like it had just been pulled from the freezer definitely was not fresh, a little more effort put into presentation would go a long way in this place....the fried pickles were delicious tho!! read more

A total disaster. The food that is and service is not far behind . I ordered the grilled (GRILLED) jumbo shrimp w/ Lima beans, coleslaw, hush puppies onion rings . The jumbo shrimp is steamed and then they threw a little bit of Cajun seasoning on them. The lima beans Were severely undercooked as in crunchy. Coleslaw had some red stuff in it and it was so spicy it was ridiculous. The hush puppies were far too sweet and greasy. The onion rings were severely over fried and grease literally popped out of them as they were broken to eat. I ordered Keylime pie and can safely SURELY 100% say it was THE WORST Keylime pie I've ever had . It was some whip cream mess (probably cool-whip) that was flavored with lime juice and colored with green food coloring w/a dollop of Cool Whip on top of it as if their wasn't enough below it flavored with lime juice and colored green. It was disgusting! Employees were 1/2 friendly THAT MEANS friendly enough not to tell them they were rude but bordering on being obnoxious. If I'd paid by credit card I would disputed the charges! This place is enjoyed by locals because each night they run a cheap food special that is an all you can eat type of deal. Key word: Cheap food = cheap quality. Love the daily specials! They always give you plenty to eat. Servers are polite and attentive. I even order for delivery for me and my co-workers. There is a $2 delivery fee, but well worth it for those times you can't go out of the office. There delivery person is always very nice and polite. Nothing fancy about the ambience of this place or anyting used to be old Burger King many moons ago. Actually looking at the outside you can't tell much difference from years ago. Also the inside pretty much unchanged for 10 years. Pretty decent BBQ, Seafood will surprise you sometimes it is awesome. Country food daily specials are about average. Wings are surprisingly one of their above-average offerings. Hamburgers and hotdogs pretty decent. Try their cakes and pies some of them are homemade. They also have ice cream. Where this restaurant really does awesome is the waitresses. I have messed them during this covid-19. Definitely one of those places you need to go on the Salisbury Barbeque Trail. Also doesn't due to bad on Seafood. Probably one of their hidden features that a lot of customers don't talk about. I'm from out of town and was driving through so I stopped at this place because the yelp reviews. The restaurant is an older fast food restaurant that has been redone. It was very crowded with a lot of locals. Despite how busy they were the food was really good and came up fast. My waitress was on top of it kept my water glass full and was very pleasant. They have a stellar half a chicken dinner with cole slaw and fries for 8 bucks that I love but today I got the chef salad with turkey. The barbecue here is very good. It doesn't have a lot of fat and the sandwich has enough barbecue packed in it to make two more sandwiches. They bring it out dry except for slaw and you add your choice of sauce at the table. The white slaw is very good and the cherry yum yum was so good I dreamed about it that night. The menu was extensive and also included fish. The parking lot was not my favorite. Too closed in for me. The seating is good and plenty of booths. It's reminds me of a diner inside. We LOVE Marlows!! In the last couple months we started ordering from Marlows, we call our order in and pick it up in drive thru. Our orders are always correct, not once have they got our order wrong and its always spot on delicious.
