I'm from Texas and know that beef prices keep going up, because the number of available cows has been reduced considerably. I love the BBQ Brisket here, but with their recent price increases, I might have to rethink eating here. Almost $30.00 for a Brisket Plate is just insane in my book. A Brisket Sandwich is now $18.00, come on man, give me a break. These new Prices might just cost Smoke Pit some business from those of us living on a fixed income. Traveled about 40 minutes to try this spot and it did not disappoint! The wait was surprisingly short for three on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was full. We did the 'Build Your Own Combo' to try many of the items. We ordered the Burnt Ends (10/10), Half Rack Spare Ribs-wet (9/10), Sausage Links (9/10 & does have a little heat), Brisket (8/10), and 3 Wings (10/10, we had the Dragon flavor which was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy.) For sides we ordered the cornbread (10/10, so gooooood), sweet potato casserole (10/10), mac n cheese (8/10), and baked beans (9/10). Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and definitely be back! We had a great first experience on July 8, 2025 when we had lunch. Everything was delicious and it came to our table quickly. Our server was very pleasant, and did a great job making sure we didn't need anything else. We were visiting the area and decided to stop based on other reviews, and I'm glad we did. Outstanding service, food, & menu. This place sets a new standard for hospitality. We are from Texas and without a doubt this was the best service we have ever had at a BBQ restaurant. Our server Aithen(not Nathen) was caring, patient, and anticipatory. He politely walked us through the menu, the nuances of their particular dishes, as well as NC cuisine. He gave us samples of several food items to help us make our decisions. Check up on us frequently and even gave us extra sauces from other dishes not at the table. The BBQ was delicious! Everything we tried was unique to the the region and packed with flavor. We where given a plastic knife and fork which I didn't need. I was able to easily cut up the brisket with a plastic spoon from the samples Aithen gave us. The ambiance was bright and inviting. The restrooms were super clean. Management was super nice(asked for her to compliment Aithen). If you ever come here ask for Athen but if Management trains all the servers like Aithen, you will feel right at home with whomever serves you. Maybe some of the best BBQ Ive ever had. My husband and I shared the lunch combo (brisket and pulled pork, coleslaw,and okra. I had Diet Coke he had 2 beers. With tip it was 40$. Service was fast, but the waitress was busy and not super friendly. She just did her job. We ran out of drinks 2 times. But the FOOD!!! Worth the mediocre server. This place came so highly recommended that we drove 45 minutes in two cars to come here for an early family Sunday dinner. We were not disappointed and The Smoke Pit definitely deserves 5 Stars overall. Thanks to GPS, it was easy to find, and even though the parking lot looked packed, there was still plenty of places to sit inside. For a food that is typically messy, the area was very clean. The hostess was nice and our waitress was a doll, she took excellent care of us. We did not have to wait long for drinks or the appetizer and she made sure that our younger family member's drink & food arrived first. Our appetizer was the BBQ nachos with brisket. Goodness, that was SO GOOD, it could have been an entree. Best. Brisket. Ever! I've had brisket cooked as tender, but that seasoning kicked it out of the ballpark. All the toppings were incredibly generous and more than enough to go around. As for the rest of the meals? We all had a lot of crossovers, so I'll just break it down. Sides: Baked Mac & Cheese is exactly what I expected and wanted. Highly recommend. Hush puppies were a wonderful surprise, very tasty. Deviled egg potato salad was nice. The baked beans was way too sweet for my palate but my son loved it. Fried okra were right on point. Cornbread was soft and nice. Meats: Turkey was juicy and so flavorful. Pulled pork, never flattering in photos, was tender and moist. Brisket was a hit. Chicken was juicy with a good, crisp skin. The sausage was a simple, good link - just what we wanted. The ribs? (Grab the smelling salts people) Holy moly, those were awesome. Two of us had them wet and enjoyed it, but I had the dry rub and they were so yummy. The meat fell off the bone and I was so tempted to be unladylike and suck on the bone. (But I would ~never~ embarrass my children like that. Or would I?) (Insert some evil laughter here...) There was a variety of sauces on the table, sweet, sizzling, Lexington (?), and SC Mustard. The only one we tried was the mustard sauce, which was a bit different from the kind we are normally used to but very good, nonetheless. My chicken came with an Alabama White sauce on the side which was very good. All the servings were very generous in size so we ended up with leftovers to take home and enjoy the next day. Amazing! Wrapping up a 5-Day Stretch - Training here in Salisbury. My L-rd! Stumbled upon this place accidentally. Brisket and the various side dishes were fantastic. I don't eat Pork - But, this BBQ has a tremendous selection of various meats. This place is popular. It's not joke! Things can get hopping - so be patient. They are closed on Monday. Service is fantastic. The girls are amazing! - Special should out to "Dani" and "Neveah" - Thank you girls for tremendously gracious and friendly service! Food is mediocre at best. You get A LOT of food for the price you pay. I just wish the flavor was there. Our server was awesome. Answered any and all questions or concerns we may have had, and our cups were never empty. The restaurant appears to be able to accommodate a lot of people. Big open area with lots of tables. I'm sure if the restaurant would have been packed, the open layout would have caused the restaurant to be very loud. I always see this restaurant PACKED so I would have expected the food to have been above average taste. read more
