Recently had an experience where my son ordered a burger from the kids menu, then asks him, "For you side, do you want chips or fries?" He answers fries. A few moments later, there's a plate with the burger and chips along with a side plate of fries. I highlight that he asked for fries and they still brought chips and if that's an issue. Server shares that the kitchen likes to still give out chips even if the side is changed since the chips are specially made (and tasty!). The sad part: the server never says that selecting fries is an upcharge. There's nothing on the menu that says fries are an upcharge. But when my son answers the question "would you like chips or fries?" it is assumed that means it's a selection at the same price. It's not.
