Went here for a friends event, it was nice. Very very dark lighting, don't stare at the ceiling for too long it's a major eye sore. The place is very spacious, full bar, clean restrooms. Decent amount of seating. I like that the DJ Booth was not the actual stage. DJ Dash was fire They had a food truck outside thought that was dope. Security was cool, stayed until like midnight. I recently had a birthday party here and I cannot say enough great things about the owners! They were always available to me and were very accommodating. I thought it was a great price and the venue is so cute. I would highly recommend hosting an event here of any kind. They have a dj booth and a stage, in case live music is your thing. I'm glad I was able to find this venue at such a convenient location with a great deal. Their package consisted of many things for such a great price. They allowed me to have full creative control from the table layout, the uplighting color, and the cocktail menu. They were easy to talk to, the Shelby venue was spacious, and I had an incredible time celebrating my 21st birthday. I was just curious if I wanted a venue party. During the first meeting, we had a tour and Layton was very informative and helpful. I didn't secure a downpayment yet but I had an idea on the date. A few days later, he told me that someone else was interested in the date, and I didn't want it to get taken so we secured it the next week. I'm glad he knew about my interest and decided to tell me about it. Leading up to the event, our only main form of communications was e-mail and through text with their company's line. Monday evenings were the only times to walk-in and check out the venue for anything/questions. I work every Monday evening so I couldn't make it to any of the walk-in days so I had a friend come there on my behalf to take pictures, submit the rest of the deposit, test out the projection for the birthday signage, and ask any questions/concerns. I think that was my only issue is the availability for me to come in prior to my event. Other than that, there's only one public bathroom for my ~150 guests, but they still enjoyed the night. The bartenders were very sociable with my guests and was quick with their work. I was more captivated by the venue space and the package. The venue had that "upscale nightclub" theme and vibe I was looking for and it wasn't somewhere with heavy traffic like DTLA. It was in the heart of my hometown in Carson and I was able to have my hometown friends, family, and college friends from Orange County to come by. I got the package for the Shelby venue which fits my budget. The team was easy going, they were able to accommodate my ideas with having custom-made cocktails for my event, and the documents with all the FAQs was super helpful. I would definitely recommend this space if you're considering having a venue party that can have a classy, eloquent feel or a trendy nightclub atmosphere. read more

Came here last friday for the Yelp CMYE and here it is.... -YES YES YES the venue looks nice and yea it's nice for being in Carson, but are clubs not supposed to look nice on the inside? If you saw this club in Hollywood you would not think it anything spectacular....in fact you would probably call it a lounge and not a nightclub. -DRESS CODE is supposed to be upscale/trendy but there was a girl in there with flip flops?? Also later in the evening there some unsavory charactors dressed in ridiculously baggy clothing that were let in.... -The place was virtually empty aside from the yelpers who stuck around and a fairly rowdy bachelorrette (bday?) party. Clearly some work needs to be done on their promoting to get a good crowd in there. I have faith that will happen as a number of people I spoke to after said they recieved a flyer but weren't sure if it was worth going. -The DJ.....there were two of them and nether played a song for longer then 30 seconds (and 30 seconds was if we got lucky). -The table server girls and bartenders were SPECTACULAR and really made my night! I wish I could remember the name of our specific server because she was just awesome. I also heard the servers were randomly giving folks free shots which I think is pretty cool. -I cannot believe THEY CHARGE A COVER! Seriously if I paid a cover for this place I would probably shed a tear. -oh and THERE IS A SIGN EVERYONE!! However, it was definitely not lit up when we first arrived. All that said I would probably still give this place another chance if they had someone I KNEW was a good Dj (i.e. when they had Dj Feli fell their opening weekend). It is atleast a place where if you brought a great group of friends you could still have a good time. I think this place has a lot of potential just hasn't reached it yet. read more

I just had my 50th birthday party at the SOL Venue and I had an excellent experience with the team there. I reserved early because the weekend of my party is quite popular and I was so happy to be able to get this venue on my actual birthday. I have to say they handle their business pretty well, from the contract process, payments, and they have documentation to answer almost all of your questions. When I did have questions the staff was easy to reach and very responsive. The team is also very accommodating. The night of my event everything went so well, people loved the venue, and they especially loved the bartender's. It's the perfect spot for a party, and they have a good air conditioning system. If you're looking for a venue to throw a nice party in a club like atmosphere this is an excellent venue. read more

I came here last night for princeology. First off only one bartender working for the first two hours so that totally sucked! Lots of people ready to drink and dance to Prince music all night. Only way to do it was order two drinks at once, knowing you will be waiting 1.5 hours to get more. Place is located in a small strip mall. Not very many places to sit, but a pretty good sized dance floor. Once it gets packed it's very hot in there. Be prepared to wear light or little to nothing to avoid it. They do have a smoking patio and allow 420. I was surprised but security says it's legal so they allow it. Only two bathroom stalls for the ladies in a extremely dark bathroom. Don't expect to do any makeup touch ups in that lighting. Lol. There is about 30 parking spaces In the strip mall. They need better ventilation and a tad more seating. Has potential but needs work imo. read more

I'm updating my review based solely on the customer service I received from Brock after posting my initial review. I have not returned to SOL for another show so I can't comment on that aspect; however, the customer service is worth mentioning. Shortly after posting my initial one-star review, I received a message from the venue. It was a very detailed and thoughtful response that made it evident someone actually read my review. They addressed each and every complaint I had about my first and only experience at SOL Venue. In my experience, it's rare to get a response from a not-so-great review at all, but to get one that was not defensive or an auto-generated response was quite refreshing. In addition to the response to my review, the venue offered (and I accepted) a full refund of my ticket purchase and apologized for the experience I'd had. Brock, I've already told you this personally but again, thank you very, very much for the thoughtful response to my review, the offer to refund my ticket purchase, and just your friendly and engaging manner. You come across as a very genuine and trustworthy person and I appreciate you going above and beyond to make what had been a bad experience a bit better. read more

Super intimate setting for acoustic set! It was my friend Grecia's first set and it was amazing! Really nice bar, they even had nachos and bomb quesadilla's! Highly recommend coming here to destress after a long week! We came here on a Thursday night after a few meetings and school in Long Beach.. so nice to chill and listen to some good roots music! To say that we are upset about the turn of events that transpired due to the lack of communication and errors made on behalf of The Omen Group on our wedding day would be an understatement. We are dissatisfied with the customer service or lack thereof we received hours leading up to our event. We were given the wrong access code to the building and therefore locked out of the Shelby venue for hours with no way of contacting any of the staff members. It wasn't until we spoke to the neighboring CPR certification business next door that we obtained Layton's number because the building owner provided it to the CPR business. Despite reaching out to Layton via text and calling him several times, we did not hear from him till over an hour later. This unprofessionalism, lack of communication, and little disregard for us as customers caused a domino effect on all the other events that were to take place on this day leading to our event. We were told that we'd be able to access the venue as early as six am if we wanted to. We showed up at eight am and were given the wrong access code to the venue and were not able to enter till around noon. We were sitting ducks with party rentals, décor, and florals on the back patio. We were forced to rush through décor and set up for the event. We were supposed to be free by 2 pm to get ready and show up for a first look photoshoot and family pictures that were supposed to take place at 4 pm. We lost money and time with the photographer. After all, we were not able to show up on time because as I stated previously, we were locked out of the venue for hours. As a result, our event was also delayed. We feel scammed and disrespected. We did not receive a courtesy phone call or asked to speak to someone about the ordeal in person at a later date. Instead, we were only offered $200 through Venmo and a message through Venmo about a $500 credit towards another event if we ever planned to have one at the Shelby again. It's offensive that The Omen would even offer us such small amount of money, and assume that we would want a $500 credit. To presume that we would want to refer family, friends, and anyone else to The Omen after this terrible experience is beyond me. What was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives was overshadowed by all the things that went wrong. It is heartbreaking because all of this could have been prevented. We reached out to them via email about our experience and have yet to receive a response. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Went here last year for Yelp Ambassador: Brittany B's 1st hosted event and it was really really cool. I was like "Wow... THIS is in Carson?". For a place that has a huge dance floor, but no stage, it's actually NOT BAD! Of course, it isn't as spectacular as the Hollywood clubs/spots but think of it this way....there's way less crackheads outside acting like some "Miami Zombies" after eating some bath salts. Carson's pretty safe as opposed to Wilmington, so don't worry. I even saw that WWF Legend Hulk Hogan's son: Nick Hogan was DJ'ng at SOL!!!! I was personally more shocked that he's a DJ, haha. But not since Yokozuna (R.I.P.) living near the area where SOL is has there been a significant wrestling reference around Carson. Customer service was really good, the bartenders were nice, from what I remember from last year. As for the venue itself... it's not too shabby! The architecture's pretty impressive to where even Mormons at the local Latter Day Saints church (down Main Street if you don't believe me) love it. Only a Mormon would really really understand that last sentence, (which I am not, but have some friends that are). Always great to see some Samoan security since the Samoans live near by; so if you're drunk or high and you somehow have a whole crew that irresponsibly messes with the security, they can easily whistle and they're coming out of the Patch and/or Carson Park area. When you go inside, it doesn't even feel like you're in Carson, it's like you put on a virtual reality helmet on and you stepped into the lower level of The Key Club in Hollywood or something, but better and minus the elevator and crackheads outside telling you how their imaginary friend ear hustled to them claiming that 2-Pac performed at some concert recently with Snoop and Dre; when it was supposed to be Pac and Biggie, but they didn't have enough terabytes for Biggie or something. The place is so damn loud when it's packed because it's such a small venue. Little people can literally have a midget version of the ECW arena matches inside if you take away the couches. read more

Pro - Great layout Cons - Music is ok. The first hour or so they were playing Hip-Hop songs. At 12 they had some guest performance who was whack. Then after they played EDM the rest of the night. They also play songs catering to their Latino/Latina customers who were the majority of the people there, so it made sense. They really need to do sound check BEFORE people get in. My ears and head was ringing the whole night because of the feed back. - Dance floor gets crowded and many of them were dancing in our VIP area. Management should have left the ropes because people were dancing in our VIP area or cutting through it. It was extremely annoying. Overall, it's not just worth traveling all the way here. If I want to go out in the South Bay, I'll stick to the beach areas. read more

The bartenders are great too, Very Friendly Freddy is the man! he hooked us up with drinks and gave a friend who just turned 21 a free shot! Mandy is a great hostess also. Before you book this venue make sure you look over the TERMS of the contract it'll come to haunt you in the end. To give some backstory my organization began looking for a party venue that we host every semester for our college organization. The event I am referring to is usually a formal event with an optional bar for those who are of age. This venue at first glance seemed amazing however things began to get strange when It came time to book. I did think it was a bit weird that they wanted a bar deposit before they even sent over a contract. Regardless of that fact, my organization was foolish enough to zelle the money without reading the contract. It was two weeks before our event until we are contacted stating that we could not have our event at their venue if there were to be individuals under the age of 21 since we are a college organization we do have underage members. I explained to him that we could use wristbands to differentiate the age groups but the manager and or owner stated that was not possible. He offered us a similar venue next door however that was not what we paid for so we wanted our refund. This is where things got tricky in the contract there's a clause stating that there are no refunds for cancellations. In total, we paid over 2.3K on the event and the manager stated that we would not be able to get anything over 1K back. He stated that this was in the contract and belittled me over the phone and said "who signs something and doesn't read the full contract". I explained to him the manager who showed us the venue never said anything about the guest having to be over the age of 21. He replied that's just here say and couldn't verify the information. However, in the contract, they have that clause stating that if you don't read the contract you are essentially out of your money. This situation has to have happened before if something is outlining this specific scenario and after pleading with the owner over the phone my organization was only given 70% of our money back resulting in a loss of over $500. This was very disappointing since we are a college organization. All I have to say is Congratulations Omen Group you have officially pissed off over 60 members of my organization hope this was all worth it. read more

Hosted my brother's baby shower on 3/18 at SOL Venue. The facilities are modern and a great backdrop for any event. 70 people sat comfortably with room to host games and have a candy table and two gift tables. There was also spacious bathrooms, men and women having different restrooms. Brock, who managed everything, was professional, responsive and accommodating. We had last minute changes and specific linen requests that Brock was more than willing to fulfill. The venue did setup and breakdown which is HUGE when you've already spent the night before prepping and hosting the day of. I would have an event here 100 times over. read more

I used The Shelby as the venue to have my 40th birthday party and I had such a great interaction with the staff during the planning process, it really made it a day to remember. I brought in my own catering, DJ, and decor, but the room is such a great big open space with beautiful design elements so you don't need much to make the space look amazing. I would definitely recommend having an event there, just be sure to book early and keep in communication, and the Omens Group staff will definitely look out for you. They even gave me a bottle of wine at the end of my party to thank me for choosing them. Really great service all the way around! read more
