We were planning on having friends join us for lunch, in the near future. We thought, we'd check it out first, if it's something they like. I don't think so. For the following reasons: 1. The parking is OK, but there's the elevator, there's walking and trying to find which way to turn for the restaurant door. 2. They like sit-in, and order their food, not get in line. 3. There's no knife. No fork. No spoon. You get chopsticks and serving spoons. You ask for utensils. 4. Water bottle comes in a large sippy bottle, something plastic with a screw top. With a funky frog sticker. Something childish. The women are seniors, they wouldn't appreciate something like that for their water. 5. They don't like microgreens! The Beef Bulgugi and everything else was yummy, after they gave us extra vegetable, that wasn't spicy. An order was perfect for sharing, for 2. Even the Korean pancake with ice cream. That was a perfect ending to a beautiful presented meal! We will come back! For the pancake, and the bulgugi again.

Staff is always friendly and cant go wrong with their food. I usually get the BLT for lunch with cucumber but this time did the bulgogi sando with cucumber. The bread got a bit soggy from the bulgogi but still held together. The chip back didnt have any air in it so the one i tried was unfortunately incredibly stale but I typically dont eat many so wasnt much of a loss.

I ordered the dolsat bibimbap with spicy pork. I liked that there were options for white or brown rice. I would like more of the side veggies that came with the meal. I was surprised that they do not provide any banchan typically served at Korean restaurants. The spicy pork was way too sweet and the bowl had mostly rice. I ordered at the counter, paid, and then received my food. They have a self-serve water dispenser. The interior had interesting lights and decor.

    Japchae with Beef Bulgogi

I was seeking a restaurant which served Japchae in downtown Portland, Oregon, and this came up as a highly rated restaurant which does. Well parking was a little difficult, the restaurant was clean and bright and open. Staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered my japchae with the Bulgogi beef - options included, tofu, spicy pork, chicken, and more. I also decided to have a ginger beer since fresh brewed tea was not available. My food came out in a relatively short time. It was lovely and smelled great. It tasted very good and I had the option of using either metal Korean chopsticks or a fork. The sauce on the noodles was slightly sweeter than I am used to, but the beef and noodle combination was delicious.

Beef Bulgulgi Kimbap! Super yummy! I can eat so many of these! Im from Los Angeles and this place is amazing! KoreaTown in LA needs a place just like this one! I've had half of their menu already and nothing disappointed me! Everything is delicious! 10/10 highly recommend!

Stellar Korean restaurant in NW Portland that grows their own microgreens in house. You can see patches of microgreens by the windows, thus giving this spot a forest or garden vibe. I have tried the dolsot bibimbap with pork, beef sundubu, and the kimbap. Everything is good and tastes really fresh. What I did love about the sundubu was that it had so many veggies I felt healthier. They also validate parking if you park at the civic parking garage!

Restaurant closed before closing hours with no notice.

Placed an online order at 7:35pm on Sunday 12/7, got told it would be ready in 20 minutes and arrived at 7:58pm to find the restaurant closed. Sign hours state they close at 8:30pm, and the phone number went straight to voicemail. No notice, no explanation. They did take the order money so we will be disputing the charge.

Came before a Thorns game after many times of trying to grab a bite without success as they get busy. Staff were friendly, and there was luckily lots of seating outside. I got a beer and the kimbap. The kimbap was darn hardy and really hit the spot. The ingredients were super fresh, and the microgreens made it sing. Hope to come back another time to try other things!

My standard lunch of the bibimbap in the sizzling-hot stone bowl, with the plate of micro greens.

This is a go-to lunch spot for me. I should try more of the menu but the dilsot bibimbap is irresistible. I get it with brown rice, and the extra micro greens. This restaurant is quiet, usually with good jazz playing. The food is delivered by a polite robot. The home-grown veggies are noteworthy. As is the homemade kimchi.

So we came here mid-November and were in the tteokbokki mood. We quickly yelped the area and found The Soop! The location was near Providence Park and fairly easy to find. It was kind of tricky to navigate as it's located along a main road. In other words, street parking, so keep your eyes peeled. Unless you plan to watch a game at the stadium, then paid parking is a mere walking distance. Loved the openness of the place as well as some of the decor. The dining area was small yet clean, and I did see the owners cleaning up after folks. A huge plus in my book! The hydroponics that were growing microgreens were also a big highlight to see all around and in their greenhouse. Quite impressive I'd say! Our order: ~ Tteokbokki OF COURSE!!! ($15) mmm, mmm, cravings satisfied! The rice cakes were fluffy, and the sauce was on point! It's one of the best tastings tteokbokkis I've had in a while. ~ Korean Fried Chicken Wings ($17), sweet and spicy. A weee bit tiny for wings and large on price, but still flavorful. Not your typical KFC, but again "satisfying" to say the least. But it's not something I'd order again tbh. ~ Bibimbap ($13 + $3 spicy pork), now THIS WAS MOUTHWATERING GOODNESS!!! The veggies and spicy pork were simply magic! I mixed and combined it all up to perfection. ~ My only regret is not trying their bibimbap with store-grown microgreens. How did I miss seeing that on the menu? Oh well, it gives me a reason to go back and try their microgreens nachos, fried chicken sandwich, japchae, and kimbap. After lunch, we discovered the 'other' dining area. Or the bar and lounge area adjacent to it. Seemed like a great place to throw a Yelp party (hint hint to Sarah C). I was snooping around and met the manager of both places, Peter. He seemed like a really cool guy. He explained the atmosphere about both his restaurant, being calm and clean, while the bar side gets rowdy and active during Timbers/Thorns games. I'll definitely wanna come back during the season. But since it's off-season, I'll take advantage of the calmness and enjoy some Korean noms!

I came here for brunch one day and absolutely loved it. Although I got confused by which door to enter at first, I found out that it's the one facing the main street (I headed in from the back, as there is no parking and I had to street park). The restaurant is set up where you order at the counter, sit, and then there's a robot that brings your food to you (although it seems to make mistakes sometimes, it's really cute and just be patient. :) ). My friend and I ordered different versions of their bbibimbap and it was delicious. The portions were so big and each portion came with sesame oil and gochujang (which few places bring out both for you!!) and the veggies were so fresh. I love the concept of the whole restaurant, with very fresh veggies and locally sourced food. I would love to come back to try their other dishes!

    Samm with bulkogi
    Sun P.

First time trying the place. Veggies are all fresh, literally picked from the hydro-garden for you. Ordered Samm with Bulgoki and kimbap. Bulgoki was dry, but as part of the lettuce wrap, still tasted pretty good. Next time I would get the other option with spicy pork. Would be great if they have pork belly option. For the Samm, there were several different lettuce,, three different types of sprouts, and perilla leaves. Kimbap was bit dry as well, but overall solid. Your food is delivered by the robot, kinda fun. Definitely would come back to try other food.

Came here with my mom because she said she wanted somewhere with veggies. We are both Korean and were impressed by all the food that we ordered, with Korean food being so hot these days there are a lot of copycats but this was definitely authentic. It was cool to see that they grew their own veggies. The interior was very spacious and high ceilings and they had relaxing music on as well. Service was quick, and I was thrilled to see some robots come bring out our food. Owners were very sweet. We ordered the kimbap (which comes in various protein options), dukboki, bibimbap which comes in a hot stone bowl which indicates it's legit, as well as an avacado toast. The owners brought us extra microgreens on the side which was super nice :)

Are kids ok to bring for lunch?

I can't speak for the owners but I did see kids there at dinner time and it is generally a very casual place, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Two bibimbaps to go: one was tofu and the other was spicy pork. Spicy pork is not spicy but looks like it is. Good taste, so it's marinated well and the meat isn't tough to chew, like some other places. I loved the spicy pork bibimbap though. All fresh ingredients! They give a lot of vegetables, which is so nice, because other places are very sparing with their ingredients. I'm usually left with so much rice at the end. However, this place did a good job giving the right amount of ingredients. They also gave a small cup of miso soup - thank you! Would get this again! My husband enjoyed his tofu version. If you're someone who wants spice, add some of the red sauce they give you in a cup. I was very happy the spicy pork wasn't spicy, but I liked being able to control any spice with the red sauce.

Location: This bar is on the first floor of the Hyatt House Portland / Downtown. Ambiance: Pretty quiet and chill. There weren't a lot of people there so it was really easy to get a drink. Drink options: I really loved how they circle around different local beer on tap. They also have a few bottled beer too. They have a cast amount of liquor too. Surprisingly, they had a new bottle of Hennessy when we finished the first (during our stay). Usually a lot of bars in hotels don't have it, so that was a major plus. Bartenders: We met three while we were there. All of them super kind, friendly, and informative of the surrounding area. They gave us lots of tips on what to see, eat, and drink. They were really down to earth people. Pricing: I thought it to be fairly reasonable for a hotel, however I might just be jaded from Bay Area pricing (yikes). What I loved about this bar is that we were able to just chat with the bartender. I didn't feel like I had to go back to my room with my drink (which is usually the case). I was able to talk to a few other people sitting at the bar too. Of course all from out of town, but still nice talking to other friendly strangers. They do serve food at this place, but I didn't really get a chance to try it it since there was soooo many other food joints in the area.
