I picked up my first pack of Soul Snacks Cookies when I noticed a cookie display on the front counter of my corner deli that read...Soul Snacks. Being the neighborhood guy who's seen everything that my corner deli has to offer, I was surprised to see a display that I'd never seen before, and one with a label that read Soul Snacks. Observing my noticeable stare and the obvious look of surprise on my face, the store clerk with a broad proud smile and a slightly Middle Eastern accent shouted over to me..."Haarlem cookies!, Haarlem cookies!" Well, being a guy who believes that he knows everything there is to know about Harlem, when I heard the words "Harlem cookies," I knew right away that this was something I just had to try--and try now! And as if the packages might suddenly get away from me, I began to quickly rummage through the carefully wrapped bundles of cookies and started reading off the labels..."Miami Oatmeal Raisin Cookies"...sounds good... "Ebony & Ivory Almond Cookies"...hmm sounds intriguing...and then as if out of nowhere, there they were..."Sweet Potato Cookies!" Right there and then, I stopped and thought to myself... "now here is something I know a lot about--sweet potatoes." Having been raised by parents on Southern cooking, I'd eaten a lot of sweet potatoes in my time, and I'd had them a lot of different ways, so it was going to take a lot to win me over. A matter of fact, I'd only recently tasted a really good sweet potato pound cake just a few months ago. Well, these cookie showed me a thing or two right off the bat. I couldn't believe how much they tasted like a really, really good sweet potato pie, and how they had the texture of soft home-baked cookies. When I bit into them, I had memories of warm just out-of-the-oven sweet potato pie melting in my mouth. These cookies had everything! They were moist, soft and chewy and had a down home sweetness that could only come from a mama's oven. I took a look at Soul Snacks website and there is a list of stores and restaurants where you can buy their cookies. Apparently, you can even have them shipped to your home too. Also, there's an interesting story about how the owner's family recipe migrated along with his grandmother from Georgia to Miami to Harlem in the early 1900's. Well, I don't want to tell you too much more about these cookies because I'd like you to enjoy them and be just as surprised and excited as I was when I tried them. The Soul Snacks Cookie Company - A package of Sweet Potato Cookies - Bakeries Near Me - Bronx, New York

I'm not sure if it was the owner but I ran into a representative of this company and he told me "I always have samples on me." I must admit, I was impressed. I meet so many people who are trying to pitch their business and they are never really quite as prepared as this gentleman. I was genuinely impressed by his enthusiasm and confidence about the products. I'm not a huge cookie fan but who can turn down free cookies. He gave me three samples: (1) Sweet Potato Cookie, (2) Ebony & Ivory Almond Cookie, and (3) Chocolate Chip Cookie. I tried the first two and have yet to try the chocolate chip cookie. So far, I'm very impressed with the cookies, the taste is great, the presentation is clean and the cookies are a nice size. The cookies were so good that I actually took time out to visit the website. As soon as I figure out a venue to bring these treats to, I will order a dozen. Best of Luck! Great product! read more

I had heard and read so many good reports about Soul Snacks Cookies that I just had to get my hands on some, pronto!!. I am based in Sydney Australia, so I made contact with the people at Soul Snacks NYC via their website and placed an order. I must commend these guys on their helpful and responsive management of my order. My order was very well packaged and arrived promptly (a few days as I had ordered just prior to NYE 2014/15) and in perfect condition. I was like a kid on Christmas morning :) Now, I thought I knew Cookies until these wonderful treats arrived at my door. OMG!! over the following week, my family and I sampled all the various flavors and each and every one was an absolute unique and joyous experience. Personally, I don't have a favorite...I much prefer to have a different one each time :) Not only are their Cookies the best you'll ever taste, the history and the story behind Soul Snacks Cookies is as pure and as real as the products themselves!! These are the best cookies in NYC. Find them in the local delis or you can order online. Small, but growing company. Look for them to have their own store front soon in Manhattan. People are starting to rave and create buzz about them. I really wanted to like these snacks, and the truth is... they are tasty. But then I read the ingredients. The sweet potato cookie uses canned sweet potatoes in corn syrup, bleached flour and artificial flavoring. Granted, these ingredients are typical of most packaged snacks, but when they promote themselves as healthy, these ingredients are QUESTIONABLE.
