I was fortunate to try five different cookies from Mad Batter Brownies. Despite the name, they make the best freaking cookies ever. I live in New Orleans, and they shipped perfectly well. The melted a tiny bit, but that's what happens in 100+ degree weather. Flavors I tried: -wonderland (blue and purple chocolate chip cookie filled with Milky Way -mock turtle (dark chocolate cookie filled with caramel and covered in pecans) -tweedle dee & tweedle dum (peanut butter cookie filled with grape jelly) -the mad hatter (chocolate chip cookie stuffed with a fudge brownie, marshmallows, and salted pretzels) -the caterpillar (oatmeal cookie filled with chocolate chips and Nutella) First, these names are so fun and creative! Messy box. The cookies were not wrapped in any type of plastic. If they are concern about the environment, might as well utilize eco-cello bags. Packages get tossed around. Crumbles were everywhere and since the cookies were not secured, it's harder to distinguish which is which if you're just gonna use your sense of smell(Good thing each box are labeled, but not great if you're gonna serve these on a tray). Peanut butter flavored cookies tend to pass their smell and taste to the ones that do not even have peanut butter... This is just too messy for me. The cookies did not look appetizing compared to what are shown online. The cookies seemed to be raw. I don't even consider these "half-baked". Also, they look like they were made by children. They look like play-dough. They are not neatly done at all compared to online images. Also, these are too small. I guess it's $5 because of the food coloring and the overall branding... but it's not worth the hype for me. Not sure if they rushed my order... The good thing about these is the fact that they are not overly sweet. They taste better compared to other cookies out there. They taste good even though a lot of the flavors taste the same (I got all flavors available). I liked the idea and the naming system. The cookies weren't bad, but the overall experience was pretty bad since the shipping fee is expensive compared to other cookie companies. It's a no for me. Food - Wonderland: (9/10) The perfect twist on the classic chocolate chip cookie - this cookie had a Milky Way core! Not to mention it looked really fun and the edible glitter was super cool (I didn't even know they made edible glitter). The cookie was not overwhelmingly sweet, which was really nice because some cookies with added candy can get too sweet. We followed the reheat instructions that were included and the cookie was gooey and warm. - Curious Oysters: (6/10) This cookie was pretty dense in consistency. It had a very cocoa-heavy flavor, and was slightly bitter (similar to the bitterness of dark chocolate). The chocolate chips helped add an aspect of sweetness, which was definitely needed. Overall, it reminded me of authentic hot chocolate - very chocolatey and not too sweet. We ate it at room temperature, as recommended. - The Dormouse: (8/10) This cookie was the embodiment of the fall, with the warm spices of cinnamon and brown sugar. It really was a heartwarming treat! The white chocolate chips were scarcely distributed throughout the cookie, which was nice because it didn't take away from the intended cookie flavor. I didn't really taste the apple, but overall, it was a solid cookie! Service: (10/10) I was sent these cookies by Risa and she was so sweet! I love cookies! The cookies from Mad Batter are amazing and I would definitely order from them again. I ordered the Create Your Own 6 cookie option, which is ideal for those only wanting to try certain flavors or have dietary restrictions limiting their selections. Each cookie came individually wrapped in a plastic bag and then placed in its own individual box with a sticker identifying the cookie before all being placed inside a pink box, which then gets placed inside another box that gets shipped to your door. Living on the west coast, there was the concern the cookies wouldn't survive the cross country journey, but they arrived just fine with no issues. The cookies arrive still soft and chewy (which is my preferred type of cookie), not to mention hefty because of how many morsels are packed into each cookie. There's even instructions provided on how to save your cookies for later or how to reheat them in case you're wanting a warm out of the oven (or microwave) experience with the cookie. With each of the cookies I ordered I split them in half so I could try each cookie as is and then try the other half warm after heating them up in the microwave. These cookies taste delicious either way, as is or warm, it just depends on your preference. Some of the cookies were a bit too sweet for me, but everybody has a different level of sweet tolerance so if you're not sure if these cookies are too sweet or just right, keep a glass of milk by your side, just in case. Every month a Cookie of the Month is advertised so you know there's some creativity going on in the kitchen to get cookie lovers excited of what may come out next. The naming system for each cookie is also pretty unique and creative as well. Characters from Alice in Wonderland are used to name each cookie, and as a lover of the classic, I could picture each cookie matching well to their designated name. Risa, the creator of Mad Batter, is also really good at responding to emails. I reached out to her as I had a question about one of the cookies before I placed my order and she got back to me within a few hours. Keep in mind, she's on the east coast and I'm on the west coast, so if you email her and she doesn't respond right away, just be patient. She will respond! Overall, my experience with Mad Batter has been great. Ordering is easy. The website clearly explains when the cookies are shipped (so read carefully in case you need them by a certain date). Tracking numbers are emailed so you can track your cookies. Everything is really straightforward. If you're a cookie lover like myself, then I would recommend Mad Batter, otherwise, leave the cookies for the rest of us as we're all mad here...for cookies! read more

Oh my goodness. Risa's brownies are AMAZING. They are perfectly moist, just the right size, and the perfect balance between the sweet fondant and bitter chocolate. However, the vanilla cake with the white chocolate ganache may be my favorite. Sheer perfection. Also, the fact that they are HAND PAINTED don't hurt them either. They are adorable. I was surprised to see no reviews for this company. They are simply the best! The pickup location is now in Chelsea at NY Cake, so make note of that. Anyways, Mad Batter Brownies totally exceeded my expectations. The owner was extremely responsive and on top of everything. I passed by the spot on the way home from the city, and picked up a Box of brownies and a Box of cookies, I almost didn't want to eat them because they were so artistic. When I got home I ate some of each, you can really enjoy the difference between regular store brownies and cookies and these artisan gourmet brownies. They were really delicious and come with really great designs on it. The girl there explained she does custom pictures on them, the faces on the brownies were great. Hidden gem! Seriously, if it weren't for the people outside giving samples, who would've thought there's a brownie place at the back of the store! For those looking for it, find the flashing "Popstart" sign against the pink and it's right in front of it. I got to try the vegan + gluten free brownie and it's one of the best brownies I've ever tasted (vegan or not). Risa was super nice and explained the different kinds of brownies and cakes they have. Apparently, they are known for the hand-painted designs on the top (perfectly edible). I'll upload some photos of the design if I can figure out how to upload photos to Yelp.
