We met at "the spot" for the birthday of my wife's coworker. We were going to be 13 and a young lady happily accommodated us, though a few didn't show. The service by Yogi was stellar. Great funny guy and we loved how honest he was about the portion size. Having lived in Texas , he called them Texas-sized, and he wasn't wrong at all! We ordered the appetizer combo plate to share with my wife (and a few orders) and sure enough, it was plenty and no need to order more food. Plus we loved the food, both our combo plate plus what we tried off others' plates. So why not 5 stars? I'd say mostly because there's no inside seating, so I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to not have to smell tobacco smoke, or if you're going to be cold being outside. read more

Hookah is a hit or miss depending on the season. Staff is usually attentive, depends where you sit. Food is delicious! Music is usually good. Parking is usually easy if there's nothing on top you'll definitely find something downstairs. However, I understand the pandemic has changed a lot but I recently came back to LA and had to get my fix. we ordered 4 hookahs and food for 7 of us and were charged the mandatory gratuity of 18% for a larger group-- this is normally fine but only if the service is provided. 1- our hookahs were packed so low (we looked to see under foil) -- there was barely any tobacco which is why the smoke was not hitting and it burned way too fast 2- our waiter was not as attentive to check on us so we can address the problems 3- our food was not as good- I remember the Barg being so tasty but it was not seasoned at all and the chicken kabob was so bland. Myself and a few friends recently visited The Spot Lounge. Unfortunately, we had the worst experience ever and I am writing this review for the benefit of others who may be better off spending their valuable time and money somewhere else. First, the whole store is quite dirty and sloppy. As we entered through the parking lot in a rainy evening, dirty water was standing every where including on the steps which were very slippery and definitely a safety hazard with no alarming signs. The lounge itself was very sloppy: the floors were all dirty and muddy continued as one could see through the kitchen door which was wide open. Multiple big dirty water tanks were kept next to the kitchen area and where all the hokkas are and this raises a serious concern for ordering and eating food in this place. I am pretty sure that an FDA inspection will reveal multitude of apparent violations of required health practices in this place where food is served. Second, in terms of customer service, after presenting our request for being seated in a sheltered area to be safe from rain and a bit warmer, they rejected even though multiple tables were empty with no reservation signs on them. As we insisted, a Bobby-named guy emerged saying that he is the manager: we gently requested the same and instead of reasonably explaining why he could not help, he loudly said that he won't serve us at all. After asking about the reason, he started ranting and swearing like a gang person. Bobby was not even working and he was seating smoking hokka with his friends. It is quite unfortunate for the business owner that he has appointed this guy as the manager because he is an apparent threat to the business flow and operation. The way he treats customers should speak to the fact that he would be treating the employees far worse with minimal respect as we witnessed him shouting and ranting on the poor guy who helped us upon our arrival. Overall, very negative experience on the customer service presented by The Spot staff, especially Bobby, and all these were upon a very polite and simple request for being seated in a sheltered area with multitude of empty tables. Their behavior was quite unnecessary and this request is so simple that any other intelligent manager or business owner would gladly grant to leave the customer with a positive outlook and will for return. The whole experience, including the sloppiness of the lounge and kitchen area as well as the poor, impolite, gang-style behavior of the staff, especially Bobby, speaks to level of care that this place wills to expend for the customer. That reflects itself in the poor quality of food, hokka, and the profile of the managing personnel. Strongly recommend you to spend your valuable time and money somewhere else where it is neat and the staff present good social manners. read more

Apparently his name is Ato , his horrible attitude made our entire party uncomfortable, and when we asked to speak to a manager he snapped at us and said he was the manager. Anyway, I love the heat lamps and the big screen TVs on the sport channel. The food was absolutely delicious. I would come again and again to eat. The only down side is they don't serve alcohol. I came in to meet up with some friends at the spot. We ordered the guac and a hookah and I really enjoyed myself and had a great time. I also got a recommend the Persian tea. The service is really awesome and everyone here is so friendly. They kept checking up on us to make sure we were doing good. And my tea cup was never empty the refill service was awesome. I really appreciate that. They did a really good job tending to the hookah. Making sure we had extra Coal. The price of the hookah and the experience was so enjoyable. I have to really recommend this place for their food and hookah. It's kind of Tucked away in the back of the second story of the courtyard. But there's plenty of parking and you don't have to pay which is also really nice. I don't think I have a bad thing to say about the spot. read more

Tremendous establishment. Yesterday I ordered through DoorDash and received a call indicating that the restaurant provided the driver with the wrong order. I called the restaurant and a lovely lady picked up and listened to my concern and frustration. Hadn't been here in years and it's still tried and true. I love the location, perched above the Encino shopping center in the mix of everything yet feels very distant. With COVID they are taking all precautions and are very spread out. It can get a bit chaotic on busy nights and not just from the crowd but the overwhelming amount of staff around. On the flip side of that, I do get the best service here than any other hookah lounge. They are very attentive to guests. Hookah 4/5. The crowds are mostly Middle Eastern(That should not be surprising) unlike some of the other hookah spots on the westside which have more of a mixed crowd. Let's just say that I and the other random races sprinkled threw out the crowd/hookah area stood out like sore thumbs and all seemed to notice and acknowledge each other and give a little head nod lol but it's not an uncomfortable setting at all... It's a great place to go relax have a smoothie and smoke hookah with a group of friends after a crazy night out. The Spot plays good music if you like Middle Eastern rhythms mostly in Arabic which I can't understand, but still enjoy and if you really take a second to listen to your surroundings you will hear a cool remix of conversations going on in Armenian, Arabic, and Persian... My best friend Anna had been raving about The Spot for months. Unfortunately I work nights, and don't often get a Friday night off. Thankfully, this past week I was blessed to have one off and we decided to make the most of it. After a quick call home to make sure her family could baby sit Anna, her husband Anton and I decided to hit up the spot for some hookah and late night nachos (a must with us). As other Yelpers have commented one thing that really stood out about the spot was the service. It was exceptional. Our drinks were always kept refilled (they must have filled my ice tea about 4/5 times and supplied a carfe of hot tea for Anton), our coals were always kept fresh, and during shift-changes and break times our servers always kept us informed of who the new server would be if we needed any help. I don't know much about hookah so Anna and her husband took the handle when it came to that (the pros). What I do know though is the hookah that we had was a very nice flavor, and the staff at the Spot were always willing and able to check up on us and make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The nachos were also delicious and piled high with chicken, a plate of them served the three of us just fine. For hookah, 2 teas (one hot; one iced) and nachos it ran us about $15PP. They DO NOT serve alcohol here, so they're opening hours are pretty much all the freaking time. Parking was a breeze (free in the lot/garage below); bathrooms were downstairs - seemed to be the bathrooms for the whole complex (I may be mistaken) and honestly did need a bit of work in the cleanliness department (but again I'm not sure if they were "communal" for the whole complex so I can't really ding the workers at The Spot for that).
