I was not pleased with my experience here at all. The service was terrible and I overheard myself being called a very racial derogatory name by two of the employees. I got the one- Steven. Really cool place! I reallllly enjoy the atmosphere in here! The decorations are sweet, sort of rustic, yet chic. The servers are really nice and always smiley as well! I had a turkey burger that was very flavorful and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I have an addiction for Thai iced tea/coffee so I was pleasantly surprised to see these offered on the menu! The drinks are the best thing about The Spot. First and last time for This place. There are too many "good" places to eat in the area. Three of us went. My one daughter ordered soup, myself and my second daughter split chicken lettuce wraps and the regular sized Golden Beet salad. Since #1 daughter only ordered soup you would think they would bring it out with the rest of the food. Nope, sat there getting cold as she waited for our food to come out. Out comes the rest of the food. Chicken lettuce wraps were just okay. Nothing special. The topper was the salad! If you are going to call it a "Golden Beet" salad you really need to add....beets! This salad literally had one SLICE of a beet diced up! It was all spinach, maybe six almonds and about a tablespoon of goat cheese. This could be a really great place if they weren't trying to cut costs. They do have a unique menu. read more

I'm shocked to see the rave reviews on here. My husband and I decided to give this place a try because the menu looked so interesting, but we were really disappointed. I am a huge fan of soup, so I was excited to see that there were something like 5 or 6 homemade soups available each day. I ordered the butternut squash crab bisque. It sounded like a slightly odd combination, but since I love both butternut squash soup and crab bisque, I thought, how bad could it be? The answer is pretty bad. Bland butternut squash soup topped with cold crabmeat out of a can. My husband ordered the chicken and waffle sliders - not horrible, but not great either. They were served dry and the chicken didn't have much seasoning. It would have been nice to have some syrup. I ordered the chicken banh mi, which was just awful. The chicken tasted like a heaping spoonful of some sort of seasoning mixture consisting mostly of salt. The sandwich had jalapeno peppers on it - which would have been fine if they had been treated properly. I was expecting a julienne of jalapeno to match the julienne of carrots, or jalapeno slices at least. Instead, the jalapenos were halved and still had the ribs and seeds. Anyone who knows anything about cooking knows that the ribs and seeds contain the most heat. I like spicy food, but most people don't like biting into half of a hot pepper that hasn't been cleaned. These missteps made me question the chef's background; the way the food is prepared makes me think it's done by someone who likes to watch the Food Network but hasn't actually picked up any cooking skills by watching it. I don't believe the yelp reviews for the spot are genuine. This place is very expensive for what you get. Menu reads as interesting but execution falls very short. We got a couple of wraps which were mostly filled with rice with very little meat, a couple of non alcoholic drinks an appetizer and we were quickly at $100. We wrapped the leftovers to take home but weren't tempted to finish them later, in the garbage they went. This place is a yelp trap. read more

I really like their food & their service. I have been here 3 times now & I loved it the first 2 times. This last time was just ok. I was disappointed in the kimchi, rice & avocado app. it's not that it wasn't good because it is some of the best kimchi I've had but because of the very small portion. There was about 2 cups of white rice, 2 tablespoons of kimchi & maybe 1.5 TBS of avocado. While this is delicious it was pretty skimpy for $7. Instead of going back for my favorite thing on their menu, now I will be making kimchi myself it's so much cheaper that way. Avocados aren't in season right now & they are expensive being anywhere from $1.50 - $2 per avocado retail. With that said if that is too much for them to be worth serving more than a bite per app, then maybe they should just take it off the menu for now....As for the kimchi I'm not sure why they served so little, it is very cheap to make. Horrible Experience Although I had been wanting to try this restaurant, I can see why no one was eating here. I stopped in on our way into the movies and was told they close at 10:00 PM. After the movie, we went in at 9:35. We were told repeatedly that they are closing at 10:00. Elizabeth said the kitchen closed in 10 minutes. She asked if we were taking the food out. I said no. I asked is we could order and eat it before 10:00. We got our drinks, my husband paid and added a tip. We waited at the table, and 5 min later, out she vines with our food in a bag! There were other people still eating. All three in our party agreed that I said we were eating there. Elizabeth was very rude and unprofessional saying "I said like 17 times take out" Well, I said we were eating quickly there. How would anyone feel if the person apologized for not understanding but does nothing to rectify the situation. My grandson was upset, and repeated in the car how I said it was not "to go" The food smells awful. The place was not clean. I think they will surely fail, especially with Elizabeth. If she is the owner, then certainly, shame on her. read more

The waitress was very nice and accommodating. Other than that, I don't really have much to say. My husband and I ordered chicken lettuce wraps to start. I hadn't even taken a bite before pulling an arms length strand of black hair out of the chicken. Accidents happen right? When my main course came (chicken salad wrap) I took two bites and noticed an eyelash laying in the chicken salad. From the moment I walked in all employees greeted me with a smile and made sure I was being taken care of. The waitress came promptly to my table to take my drink order and go over the menu with me. She suggested local favorites and was patient with me when I couldn't decide what to order. The food was out quickly and I was hooked from the first bite. I was surprised to read a negative review of the spot. I highly enjoy frequenting the restaurant. The food is different then the same old get it in get it out type of place like there is every where. The food is always delicious. I have tried many of the choices on the menu and I have never been disappointed My favorite is not on the menu. I get the veggie burger with some fancy cheese and spices. The veggie burger does not look like a regular burger and it does not look yummy but don't judge the meal by the looks on this one. If you like veggie burgers this might be the best tasting worst looking one going. I do have to say I have never tried the coffee but the fresh brewed iced tea in mason jars is really good. When you do go remember to ask for the ice tea in a mason jar they will know what you are talking about. read more

I have been to the spot a few times, I had an omelette on my last visit, within the half hour, I got so sick. I did make a phone call to someone which told me she was one of the owners. I told her that I got food poisoning, she didn't seem to care. Oh no, not in my place I haven't had any other complaints. Her remark was I will take your number if anyone calls me to let me know they got sick I will call you, not even saying I'm sorry, or I will take care of you the next time. I don't want a next time. I have lost two days of work, not good. I have heard bad things in the past two day about the place. I wish I would have known this before I went there. This place was lots of fun! Fresh ingredients. So many options! The blackberry ginger lemonade was freshly made and so good. The waitress chose my lunch because I was indecisive and it was great! The falafel was moist and yummy. My mom got the Thai Tuna Avocado wrap and it was delicious. The salads are made to order, and are lightly dressed (which I love). This place is very hit or miss, and more often than not, it's miss...especially if you come in when they're busy (think they have maybe 8 tables...if those are almost all taken, watch out). I've had some truly strange culinary experiences here. Some of those include getting an egg wrap sandwich for breakfast...which is always good, but in one case the accompanying home fried potatoes were almost raw...in another case I got very few and they were burnt little shriveled up pieces which I had to send back. I've gotten tiny little nearly black (burned) falafel balls as part of a veggie plate. I've gotten a shrimp wrap with hardly any shrimp and they forgot to put in the ponzu sauce or whatever it's called. One time I got soup that tasted so bad I thought I should never order soup there again. And another classic time, I went with a friend and his order never came. We finally asked about it and it turned out they actually just somehow missed his order and it was never put in. They did take it off the bill when it came which was nice but he told me he never wanted to come back. And yet, this place gets rave reviews...I guess I order the wrong things at the wrong time...who knows. It's just disappointing and I don't recommend it except maybe the breakfast items (aside from the home fries, lol) and standards which are hard to screw up, like burgers and chicken... which I don't know about because I dont eat beef or chicken. I probably should have taken pictures of some of this crap by the way but I'm not that picture taking kind of person. One thing I'd like to thank the Spot for is making me go back into my own kitchen and cook my own meals again....at least I won't serve myself burned or raw items, or forget to bring myself my food!! read more
