What a really cool spot! Sightseeing while driving home from Rehoboth we decided to stop in because we heard the live band jamming. I'm glad we did. Clearly this is the Sunday brunch spot. We got there short just a little short of the cut off time (2:30) so we ordered lunch. For brunch though, they offer a "Make Your Own Bloody Mary Smorgasbord". I'm trying that next time! For cocktails I tried the Famous Bull Shark which is a blend of Orange and Raspberry vodka, champagne, OJ, cranberry juice and red bull. Tasty but wasn't that strong. I added a shot of Tito and it was exactly what it needed to be. My friend tried the Arnold Palmer Crush, made with Deep Eddie's sweet tea vodka. An extra shot would have helped but my friend didn't care. For food we tried a pound of steamed shrimp and the Jerk Cobb which is simply a cobb salad with grilled jerk chicken. The buttermilk ranch that accompanied the salad was delicious and I'm not a ranch girl. The steamed shrimp were some of the best steamed shrimps I've ever eaten. That says a lot when Baltimore is home. They were steamed with spices, capers, onions and Old Bay. Not the just the usual Old Bay, onions, and beer, as I am used to. Service was a little slow, but again, it was pretty crowded. Whenever in Dewey Beach or Rehoboth, this will be one of 2 restaurants I plan to visit. read more

The Starboard is a great place to watch sports and have a few drinks. Their orange crush is incredible. However, the food is a no-go for me. Our table tried a variety of wraps and salads. The Buffalo chicken wrap and southwestern wrap were cold as if they came from the refrigerator. That was incredibly odd. I thought the buff chick wrap had great flavor but it should not have been served cold. Tater tots were crispy but it's not terribly difficult to throw some into a fryer. The side Caesar was massive and could have been a meal alone. One diner at our table dubbed his jerk Cobb salad the best Cobb salad he's ever had but he was also on this fourth crush of the afternoon. Abysmal experience. On a slow evening (as in decently staffed but not many customers) we saw our server twice. Once when she took our order and when I waved cash in the air to pay our check. Great place to go to at the beach for breakfast and lunch, and drinks of course! They have a full size Bloody Mary bar with a huge array of flavors and mix ins to choose from. There are several indoor and outdoor bars to order drinks from and ample seating for those looking for some bites. It is a bar environment, so I don't necessarily recommend it for families with small children. It's a great place to hang out with friends tho and the bartenders are very friendly and attentive. read more

I ordered the Belgium waffle with whipped cream and fresh strawberries which was delicious but the "hash browns" which were really boiled smashed potatoes were tasteless. My daughter had the French toast and said there was not cinnamon, nutmeg or custard to indicate it was French toast. Granddaughter said her pancakes were good. All of our bacon was cooked hard and nearly burnt. Hangover breakfast is served. No doubt this place would be a fantastic evening destination, but as a "morning after" recovery greasy spoon type place to grab a petit dejeuner and recap the night before, well, that's where The Starboard really shines. Obviously everyone talks about the DIY bloody Mary wall, but I completely avoided that. Oh, it looks impressive, but I really have no idea what to do when it comes to building the ultimate bloody. I'd much rather leave that in the hands of the experts, although I was tempted to just load one with 15 strips of bacon. I would put so much bacon in that all the liquid overflows and I'd just be carrying around a glass of bacon. It doesn't sound too bad, does it? I ended up just getting a beer for some ungodly reason. I was still hungover and dehydrated as balls, but when in Rome. Note: I've never been a "hair of the dog" type of person. That method of recovery has never, EVER worked for me. Quite the opposite, actually. So unfortunately this beer kind of counteracted the positive effects of my breakfast, but it was still damn good. You can't really go wrong with sausage, hash browns, and eggs, all covered in a thick layer of melted jack and cheddar cheese. Seriously, this was BANGIN' and exactly what the doctor ordered after a rough night. Even if I never make it here for their late night hours, I know I found my go-to breakfast spot in Dewey. read more

2 years ago in July 2018 I was on vacation with my parents in Dewey Beach. Before we even went to Dewey Beach (it was my first time visiting) we saw The Starboard on the news promoting popular hot spots for vacations at the beach. We knew we had to try it out so on the third day we walked up the road to The Starboard. We were amazed at the amount of seating it had on the inside and the outside and we sat on the inside. It was pretty packed in both places too! The inside of The Starboard looked pretty neat, the server was friendly and the food was amazing! Hands down the best Chicken and Waffle Skillet I ever had. It was hard to narrow it down because many items on the menu looked so appetizing! After we were done eating we visited the gift shop and purchased a few souvenirs too. When I left I vowed to return one day and eat there again. 2 years later and more recently, I got that chance! Last month on 10/9/20 my parents, my sister, her boyfriend and I went down to our vacation in Ocean City Maryland and we stopped at The Starboard on the way down (we raved about it and wanted to return and they wanted to try it out). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we sat on the outside but it was still a fantastic experience and it was a nice day for early October. It was close but I knew I had to have the Chicken and Waffle Skillet and it was every bit as good as when I had it the first time! I convinced my sister to try it too and she loved it. Despite the pandemic and everything that comes along with it, this was still an enjoyable experience. I know I need to return to The Starboard again one day. So far, it is my favorite place to eat in Dewey Beach and I need to try more of their menu. Hopefully someday soon I can! read more

The hostesses here are either confused or incompetent. We tried to eat here on a Wednesday night after Labor Day when it was totally dead and were denied because "they only allow dogs on Fridays". We came back on Friday at 8pm and were told that they only allow dogs before 6pm, and they wouldn't make an exception because "it might get busy later". Meanwhile there was a table with a dog 10 feet away from the hostess booth. Someone needs to tell this dive bar that the main reason people come to Dewey instead of Rehoboth is because the town is dog friendly. read more

Went here once for breakfast with a party of 8 so I can't speak to other food offerings throughout the day. Service was fine. Breakfast was just ok. I had the eggs Delmarva. The flavor of the eggs, crab, hollandaise was good. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The English muffin it was served on was not toasted though. Not one bit of brown on it. Maybe they warmed it up, but it never saw a toaster. Very strange and mushy. English muffins should be toasted imo. The second issue was their so called hash browns. They are not good. 6 of us ordered them and none of us really touched them. They are like a very chunky mashed potato. Hash browns are supposed to be crispy on the outside in my book. Became a regular here while on our vacation. Best orange crush we had in Dewey all weekend. It's a fun bar with lots of seating options (indoor outdoor and an in between set up). The Starboard is everything my 22-year-old self would have killed for: an outdoor bar with a cover band and wild vodka concoctions in plastic cups you black out on under a mid-summer moon, and then big greasy breakfast platters of pancakes, sausage, bacon, homefries, and hair of the dog beers for the inevitable hangover the next morning. That was not my experience here (although I lowkey wish it was). This vacation was more of an adults drinking wine vibe. Regardless, we had knocked off fine dining, seafood, and sushi, so we had a hankering for typical beachy bar grub and fun drinks at sunset (and somewhere that didn't require a reservation). Sat at a picnic table under the tent out front and our server was really on top of shit. We got some crazy flavored drinks I would never order again (mine was orange creamsicle with vanilla vodka and the sugar content was just too much). Food was decent and also priced lower than most other places we frequented. BF got a classic burger and fries and I got the brisket sandwich which had some surprisingly deft BBQ artistry - burnt ends on the meat and a kickass BBQ sauce to boot. It's greasy, it's filling, it's jovial, it's middle-aged men on a boys only trip forgetting how to take tequila shots at the adjacent table ("is it lime first?"). We decided to come here for dinner tonight. Then a short time later a few other friends wanted to join us. After chatting with our waitress, Bella, and another employee, they moved us to an outdoor table to accommodate some additional friends. After getting a couple tables setup for us, we had more additional friends want to join. Before long we had 4 or 5 tables filled with our friends. Bella handled each change of additional people with amazing calm and a go-with-the flow attitude. She was so pleasant and never had any attitude or frustration. Our super large order all came out around the same time, and just about everything was perfect. A couple kids chicken tenders were cold and dry but they corrected it quickly and without any issue. Had a great time at the Starboard. It was their first full day after reopening and the staff did a great job at keeping tables socially distanced. And there were tons of sanitizer stations which was great. My boyfriend got the Crab Bloody Mary and we have never seen anything like it! It was delicious. This was a wild party with live music and drinks flowing. We showed up on a Wednesday night at about 11pm. So the average age looked about 23 which means my group was a little bit older LOL. The band was great, playing a ton of songs we knew from when we were teenagers. There was this massive bouncer who was watching the dance floor area. He was at least a head & a half taller than anyone there. When needed, he quickly & swiftly swooped in and grabbed the problem child and escorted them out. Floors were obviously terribly sticky. This place was located right on the main road so it was an easy pick up for our Uber. Ears were ringing for a few hours after. All in all it was a pretty fun night! read more

The food was above average, with the Scott Van Melt especially cooked to perfection.
