Had such a fantastic experience at The Pines in Rehoboth Beach last night! From the moment we sat down, Jodi made the evening special. She was incredibly accommodating, attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel welcome the entire night. Service like hers is hard to find and absolutely deserves recognition. We started with the deviled eggs appetizer, which were the perfect bite -- flavorful, fresh, and a great way to kick off dinner. I had the salmon entrée and it was super tasty and cooked perfectly. My friends both ordered Caesar salads and really enjoyed them as well. And definitely save room for dessert! The peanut butter dessert and the key lime pie were both outstanding and the perfect ending to the meal. Huge shoutout as well to Michael at the bar -- the drinks were superb and he made what may honestly be the best martini in town. The very worst burger I've had in my entire life. It was inedible. So salty I couldn't eat it. I get it's a smash burger but it was beyond well done and the bacon was wet and soggy. Save your money. We sat at bar. The bartender Michael was wonderful. read more

I keep comping back and I want them to deliver....I really like the space and want to like it more. Bottom line is that it's inconsistent; something restaurants cannot be. I enjoy my Pines Manhattan, had a couple of apps, fries were good, mozzarella sticks (home made) shrimp cocktail, good crunch on the shrimp. Now for the bad, order 1 filet well, got that right, 1 medium (it was raw) and 2 medium rare that were rare to raw..... We walked it right after opening on a Thursday. Our plan was happy hour and then dinner. We sat at a high top at the bar and the bartender was our server. The room was quiet when we first arrived. They were very friendly and helpful explaining the happy hour menu which included any of the cocktails on their menu for only $10. We started with the HH appetizers-mozzarella sticks and whipped ricotta. The mozzarella was perfect. Very crispy. Sauce was good. The whipped ricotta was another story. I didn't see onions listed on the menu for this dish though there were a few chives on top. Oddly, the only flavor this dish had was onion! Like the meme where your mom cut up your fruit with the onion knife-just like that. Drinks were decent. Our first round with the watermelon marg and the manhattan were delicious. We are both big bourbon fans so we ended up with the toasted sesame old fashioned for our second round. I don't recommend it. Not a great flavor. I love the idea of a toasted sesame old fashioned, but that's not what this tasted like. Also, not a fan of old fashioneds with cubed ice. I prefer a large solid piece of ice for my bourbon drinks. For my main I had the steak frite. The fries were very crispy and perfectly cut. The steak was slightly more medium than the medium rare I requested. It came with sides of ketchup, chimichuri and a romanesco sauce. I'm not a ketchup girlie, would have been nice if they offered mayo instead for the fries. I'd return for happy hour in the future, but would likely switch up my order. read more

Exceptional and above the best of any service anywhere!!! It was crowded but the host was able to sit us outside. They brought us blankets to keep us warm. Brian, our waiter, was the best waiter we have ever had in all our world travels! I can't say enough good things about the service, food and ambiance!! Came to the Pines for a nice campy two-person show (Bettie & Bruce Trapped in Rehoboth) and enjoyed it! The show area is nice, chairs super comfy, nice sight lines. The front lounge has been nicely redone, and you could just come on up and get dranks. The Pines regularly hosts theatrical singers, drag, and the lounge is a nice environment. The food and service were excellent. The drinks were boozy and tasty. I loved the relaxed, current, but still elegant design of the interior. I loved the Empress 75 but was dreaming of the Spicy Paloma later that evening. I am glad the server recommended it. I have one minor comment that I am not compelled to delete a star for. The Seafood Pasta only had three very small lobster tail pieces. They were just a hair over done. I wanted more. To be fair, it is called Seafood Pasta not Lobster Pasta. The dish probably benefits from the tasso, but, I do not eat pork. I was happy with the dish but not blown away. We also came here on Saturday evening for the drag show upstairs. That was a lot of fun. The entrance fee was $15 for our table of two and no drink minimum that I was aware of. Table service for drinks and a two hour show. They offered light bites as well. You do need to bring lots of singles for tipping. We were there on a Monday night (5.1.23) so they had a special of filet, (a potato?), cab, and a side salad for $20. They also have a comfort food night that offers some meal selections at good price points. Great dinner and atmosphere....will definitely hit this place the next time in Rehoboth. read more

It's painful to write this review because I desperately want to love this place for the amazing atmosphere, intelligent and friendly staff, great libations and good menu. However.....the only thing consistent is the inconsistent food quality. It's confounding how 30-40% of either my (or rotating group of family/friends) always has a poor dish due to it being made incorrectly, over seasoned, cold or something else. I'm not a restaurateur but this seems to be an execution issue. Too many sous chefs? Training not good enough? Most recently I ate here on steak night where my father and I enjoyed two identical steak orders cooked "medium". His fries came out cold and my steak was raw and tough. The second steak was cooked to my specification (medium) but still tough. I will say the food at Aqua and Drift are 100% consistent and excellent. They do a good job. read more

They are on Open Table, so it is easy to reserve. Our server was Chandler, and he was charming. My sister in law recommended and we went on our anniversary eve and had a spectacular time. The food was excellent and the waiter, Antonio, felt like a long lost friend. As we were leaving, Bob the owner made a point of coming over and saying hello and chatting. Prior, As we were sitting at our table and enjoying our time and a wonderful drink, we noticed that Bob knew everyone that came in. We felt "left out" but by the time we left we felt like family. It doesn't hurt that the food was really really good. We went on a Monday and they had a steak frites special as well as a filet special. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the sides were extremely well prepared. I almost don't want to recommend because I want this wonderful place all to myself. Thanks to all and we will be back! Great dinner on the porch at The Pines. And yes, they're dog friendly outside! We stumbled on this place after another spot didn't allow dogs and happy we got to try here! They're upscale casual and have a unique dinner menu. Everyone loved each thing they ordered, but the crowd favorite was the Lobster Cornbread appetizer. Our waiter was so sweet and actually from the area we are visiting from! He even brought out a small bowl for our pup. I ordered the caprese salad which was very good along with truffle fries which were perfect and not too oily, which is all too common for truffle fries. The rest of the table got the burger, short ribs (incredible) and chicken milanese (amazing). Definitely will be back if we are in the area! read more

Great service! We had to wait maybe 10 mins for our table which was a reservation. The host comped us drinks and an app. Had the fish and chips and they were fantastic. Drinks were great too and the upstairs tree lounge was a lot of fun with a great piano player. Highly recommend! read more

Off season on a Monday night, four of us, and we found the absolute best special in town. Filet and wine-- both were 5 stars. They have other specials throughout the week which we will try next. This is our second chance visit and we liked it. The place is certainly very nicely decorated. The Frose didn't come in the cute glass the second time and it was a bit too slushy but the salmon I ordered was cooked exactly the way I like it - it was simple and good (presentation was lovely). My husband said the ribs were ok ("perhaps slightly undercooked and similar to chili's"). The service was fab but both times we were there they had specials that we didn't know about so it would be helpful to add them to the menu scan. The first time we heard our waiter ask the next table if they'd like to hear the specials (after we ordered). The second time (different waiter) mentioned the specials to the table next to us so we asked to hear them Besides finding a way to better communicate specials, my biggest suggestion is to add complexity & layer flavors to delight! Add more sauces and seasoning. Take the technically correct food to sensational - strive for Unami. The people and atmosphere are great. read more

Had a great experience at the lower level bar. Fantastic friendly bartender who made me a special Manhattan which I still crave. Went back another evening a couple weeks ago and decided we would try the "Treetop Lounge". It was slow that evening, we walked up where a young gentleman was standing behing a desk. We were not greeted after an awkward minute of silence. I broke the ice saying hello and asking if it was happy hour, he snapped back with "All night long" and dashed downstairs. We were looking forward to eating here after a glowing recommendation. The service was pleasant but slow. We started with the fried mozzarella which was nice, fat and crispy. They sent us a basket of bread because the kitchen was taking some time with our main courses. The person who ordered the shrimp really loved his dish. The sides of creamed spinach and truffle fries were both excellent. The short ribs looked great but both people who had it were disappointed. The crabcake was a flattish disc and wasn't good so our friend only ate half. I had the slightly burnt chicken Milanese which had a strange, unsavory ? tangy? taste. Not one to waste food, it was an ordeal to finish it. I wish I could say they were having a bad night-- but more than half of what we ordered was so so... and for the prices in RB, so so food is not good. read more

This place offers a large menu, but at a bit of a higher price. The food is a bit hit and miss. A seat on the patio is awesome for people watching and no discernable drop in service. Drinks are adult sized and well made. The grilled oysters were tasty but would have been improved by selecting a larger bivalve - the ones we had were small and thus mainly butter, garlic and cheese with only a small bit of small oyster. The crab cakes were really good and almost sweet but would have been even better with a sauce. The fries were also very good and very crisp. The coleslaw could have used some acid - it seemed mainly to be draped in oil. We also had the rockfish, which was fine but nothing special. read more

The Pines is a cool spot, conveniently located a few blocks from the beach. I stopped in with some people for a drink and luckily, there was a performance going on. One of the staff members told us we could grab any empty seats that were available. We ordered a few cocktails and lounged, watching a stage performance featuring vocals and keys. It was pretty entertaining and we enjoyed the very chill vibe the place had. There are drag performances on other days, so if you're lucky enough to catch one, I'm sure it'd be a blast. read more

My husband had the salmon which was a very generous portion- he loved it! The chef followed my dinner out which was the vegetarian dinner served on a wood slab and it was incredible! We went for Memorial Day Brunch and it was BY FAR the worst drag brunch I've ever been too. Tickets were pre-sold, so they knew how many people were coming. Servers hustled, but were out numbered. Two hours in, we had only gotten one drink and still no food. When the food did arrive, it was awful. Some of the performers were decent, but some of them just walked around not even bothering to lip sync while collecting dollars. The speakers were so loud we couldn't hear anyone at our table. We were subjected to 30 minutes of one of the queens bashing the owner with private jokes...despite the entire crowd being from out of town. Several tables were so over it they left early. The food was delicious (we had steak, pork tenderloin, the braised short rib again) but once again the service was absolutely top notch! My mother and I went here for New Year's Eve (prix fixe dinner), and I let the kitchen know in advance that she is lactose intolerant. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that the chef had made an entire lactose-free meal for her from start to finish! This was so thoughtful and professional, and I know she appreciated it. Enjoy the drag brunch but the food has gotten worse each visit. This past Sunday every thing the 4 of us ordered was served cold or room temperature. Biscuits were cold and hard, sausage gravy was cold and almost jelled, eggs cold, bacon cold. We love Drift and not sure why after all this time, the Pines can't serve a decent brunch. I only moved to the area last year and hadn't yet tried it and obviously with COVID have been worried about going out, but after seeing positive reviews and mentions about The Pines dedication to keeping patrons safe (plus their awesome menu), we gave it a try. The space itself is really lovely. It has that charming beachy vibe. We requested in our reservation to sit outdoors, and were led upstairs to their deck seating (a high top). The lounge area we walked through to get to it is stunning and hopefully when things even out pandemic-wise we can come back for some cocktails here! The host who seated us was awesome and also very knowledgeable. Upon giving us menus I asked what some of his favorite items were and he gave us great recommendations! The deviled eggs were good, and the crab dip was REALLY yummy. We were a little bummed out because at one point we were offered more bread for it and didn't receive it, but no biggie. I got the tuna and my boyfriend went with the pork chop. He LOVES pork chops and typically doesn't order them when we go out to eat, but the host insisted it was amazing and he decided to go for it. It did come out a little undercooked so we had to wait a little for them to get it up to temp, but he still loved it. The tuna was so so good. Our server (Taylor) was so sweet and attentive. She mentioned she was new, and she was juggling tables both up and downstairs, and she did an incredible job. We will for sure be back! read more

Stopped in for dinner last night. Amazing. The staff is so friendly and knowledgable. The restaurant is small intimate and cozy. It's clean and uncluttered and you feel instantly relaxed when you walk in the door. We split the Parker House rolls and the goat cheese almond and honey appetizer. Well dayummm. I am so grateful this place exists in such a small town. I hope everyone knows about it and I'll do my part to share my experience via word of mouth in these streets. I went with a friend and the service was exceedingly good. Our server Alyse (sp?) was nothing short of educated on the menu and most hospitable. We had the fried green tomatoes, I had the pork chop and my homie got the stroganoff and all of it was 2 DiE 4! If that wasn't enough we rolled deep with dessert and had the cranberry key lime pie and bread pudding and that's when my body fell into a blissful food coma. What a lovely space filled with friends enjoying a fine evening out. The upstairs deck provides a fresh air view of a fun Baltimore Avenue scene. The martinis are spectacular. The restaurant downstairs takes reservations (yay). Super nice owners and staff. On a recent visit, the specials included a lovely watermelon and arugula salad, just a perfect tonic for a warm day. Even more outstanding was the ceviche. Really excellent food. My nit, a lot of people know how fun and tasty this place is now and on a hopping weekend, it might take awhile for your food to arrive.
