I was totally impressed with The State with this visit! Went there with my sister and my toddler. We went there Tuesday evening-ish around 4pm - 6pm. Yay Taco Tuesday! I loved that the Taco Tuesday menu was easy to read and it's the basics: Tacos and Margs! Free kids appetiser: it's fruit sliced up so nicely I would eat it. Food: I tried the carne asada and shrimp tacos and ultimately the shrimp tacos won! Yes surprisingly good. They were crunchy cause of the tempura and drizzled with the sweet and sour sauce. Kids menu: my little one had the butter and lemon spaghetti. I actually appreciated how plan and simple it was. Toddlers are picky eaters and it was perfect for my kid. Nothing fancy but very tasty. The spaghetti dish also came with fries. Drinks: house margarita for me, I was feeling basic so I had it plain and simple haha. Even went for a second round! Service: our waitress was amazing because of her suggestion my little had his own appetizer that made him feel special. Ambience: perfect for my toddler. It wasn't too loud at the time 4p-6pm on a Tuesday. The music was at a low volume, perfect calm sounds for everyone to be able to speak and hear each other. A cool spot at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. Bartenders always very courteous. Happy hour menu is small but good with good prices. The short rib tacos always a hit! Super clean place and this includes the bathrooms. I keep coming back to The State and a fan since day one. Happy New Year! read more

The food is just ok for the price. The steak is over cooked and tough to chew. 7 out of 10. The wait time was very long. Only three people, it took 30 minutes to receive the food. I've been here a couple times when shopping at Victoria Gardens, mostly for the cocktails. Parking is either along the street (paid) or in the outer mall lots. Requested patio seating to people watch. Have tried the poutine and happy hour short rib tacos; the former was okay and the latter was good. The Samurai Sour is good as is their hibiscus mocktail. Service was a little lacking this last time (asked for hot sauce but never got it by the time I finished my meal) but would still come back, perhaps to sit at the bar for their specialty drinks. 3.5 read more

I've been a loyal customer at The State since day one, so it genuinely pains me to leave this review. The food quality has really fallen off. I recently had the State salad with steak and was disappointed the salad felt pre-packaged and uninspired, and the steak was clearly not fresh-cut meat. It had that frozen, processed texture that just doesn't belong in a sit-down restaurant. To be fair, the drinks are still great and the bar is worth a visit. But if you're coming for a meal, I'd lower your expectations significantly until things improve. Hoping management takes notice and brings the kitchen back to where it used to be. read more

4++ Came here to grab some light bites and some drinks. The service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The spot had also a good vibe with nice music and decor. It's the type of place where you can go casually with friends after work or have a nice meal with significant others. Pretty extensive selection of whiskeys where there are some decent deals if and if you don't mind paying up, there are some rare selections as well. Came here on a week night near closing time. Split a burger, some bacon wrapped dates and had a pour of bourbon. The food was good and drink was great (of course when you're ordering whiskey, you know what you're getting, haha) I had a mix up and accidentally made a reservation at one of their other locations, but the folks here were very understanding. We chose to sit outdoors and sat in the low seat area, which i probably wouldn't do again, just because it seems to be a "service" area. We ordered the Belgium Waffle, Chilaquiles, Street tacos, Spicy fried Chicken Sandwich and of course the Poutine Fries. The Belgium waffle was so good we ordered a second one! The orange honey butter and adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the Chantilly cream. If you order the dish, dont overlook the spearmint leafs! Make sure you chop up those bad boys for an added boost of flavor! Normally I don't care for restaurant Chilaquiles, but at the server's recommendation I ordered them, and boy was I glad I did! The sauce is served over the chips (instead of cooked in the sauce) which gives it that perfect texture! Served with an egg, it was packed with flavor! The street tacos were probably the best tacos I have ever had! I would have order more if I had room in the tank! Poutine Fries are am absolute must when you visit! Came here for a coworker outing during the week. It wasnt that busy on the day we stopped by but I can see this place being popular on the weekends. It has a chill bar vibe more than a restaurant to me. First starters we got some brussel sprouts, the bruschetta and some bacon wrppaed dates. The sprouts were nice and crispy/charred with a sweet sauce that complemented well. The dates were good, but idk if I would get them again. It's a preference thing. The bruschetta was fine. I like a strong basil flavor on bruschetta but this one had so much cheese that it overpowered everything else. For my main I had the Tequila strip pasta. It was creamy but a little too salty. I ended up squeezing a lemon to balance it out a bit. The shrimp were cooked nicely and seasoned well. I also got an order of beignets for dessert. Again, they were fine, but more dense than I like.
