This was definitely the place to be for lunch as it was packed. So much so that we bellied up to the bar for our lunch to get a quicker seat. The bar tender was fantastic. There were several small groups in the bar area and she was handling them all quickly and with down-home kindness. We heard the grouper was amazing but we just weren't that hungry to take on that big of a lunch. We opted to split a Cobb salad and it was the perfect amount. They even split it for us. Love when restaurants do that (and don't charge you to split a meal). Salad was fresh. Chick was tender. Bread was yummy. Great choice. It was a great stop. read more

Enjoyed a few lunches at this restaurant. I came in for a sandwich, but have come back because of the onion rings! Really big with great battering. Some of the best I've had. Have always sat at the bar. The staff, and the local customers have always been very welcoming and friendly. This place has a great location in town, so no matter which way you take into town, you're going to go bye the Stonehouse. If you're hungry, this is a great stop! We arrived at 5:05pm to the parking lot. We were seated at one of the last open tables. This is just an indication of the popularity of the food. And we wholeheartedly agree. The atmosphere is like a supper club with tablecloths, and nice table settings. Our waitress was a masterful expert supported by a strong team. The hostess seats you and takes your drink order, the bar staff deliver the drinks, a waitress brings the best fresh bread and takes your supper order. Whew! High five team! Our food was delicious. The Brie appetizer was grand, it was also fabulous the next day! The walleye meunière was perfect. The prime was perfectly rare. The lobster bisque was good. The strawberry almond salad was delish, house made vinaigrette too. We left without dessert or after dinner drinks but we will try that another time. My friend and I recently spent a weekend in Escanaba and had this on our must visit list. We arrived on a Saturday right as they opened at 5pm. When we arrived, there was already a line at the door. My friend put in our names and we went to the bar to wait. We were told it would be about 30 minutes. We ordered drinks. My bourbon old fashioned was very good and only $5.50. My friend's rum and coke was $3.50. Very much a good value. About 10 minutes in we were called to our table. The dining room is dark and old school supper club. It's comfortable. It was also packed. Our service was exceptional and very friendly and warm. I ordered the Atlantic Red Salmon...a la béarnaise.  $23. It was perfectly cooked with a great sauce. It came with a choice of sides. My Caesar was excellent the twice baked potato was extremely flavorful. Nothing needed salt - the seasoning was on point. The bread served before the dinners is exceptional - soft, garlicky and tasty. My friend had the Great Lakes Platter...Broiled whitefish & walleye with beer battered Perch.  $23 with macaroni and cheese. He loved it and said every component was excellent. Our only regret was that we didn't have more room to try more things. This place is a treasure. read more

It was very busy on a summer Tuesday night for good reason. The service was superior and the food was excellent. We ordered spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer. Chips were perfection. The dip was also very good. For entrees, we ordered honey pecan chicken salad and steak Stonehouse. Both good but each could have a little lighter dressing/sauce. Easy enough remedy to order the dressing on the side for the salad. The atmosphere vibe was casual fine dining. Think mainly people 50+ with a few young folks sprinkled in. We were there shortly after opening and had to take the last table, a two-top in the bar. The service was good, and the food was wonderful. I started with Lobster Bisque which I highly recommend. My Caesar salad was passable but not exceptional, and I'd skip it next time. Sally ordered Walleye Meuniere and thought it was the best fish dish she had ever had! The food and service are both outstanding! I highly recommend the seafood Au Gratin. It's creamy, cheesy, and full of Big chunks of seafood! The calamari appetizer was cooked perfectly. The food is always excellent but I end up feeling rushed.The best way I can describe the wait staff is to say they are perfunctory. Also the waitperson asks how your food is but doesn't stop to hear your answer. Maybe 1 out of 4 times did I get asked if I wanted a refill on my pop. When my husband was asked and indicated he would like one he was asked if the 1$ they charge for a refill was ok. Weird. What a pleasant surprise. The Stonehouse is an almost classic supper club - without relish trays. Good cocktails, good food and extremely friendly staff. For a mid-week evening, they were packed. They told us 15 minute wait. It was 7. Connie, our waitperson, couldn't have more accommodating. She took time with us explaining the menu and getting us to the place where we ordered just the right dish. We were not disappointed. His perch was Just the way he likes them and my veal liver with onions and bacon was delicious. All in all a delightful experience. Back in town visiting family and decided to visit family. We stopped at The Stonehouse for a nice lunch and we're not disappointed. My husband ordered the Grouper sandwich with onion rings. The sandwich was giant and delicious. The onion rings were perfectly fried in what I assume was beer batter. I had the steak Boursin with a twice baked potato. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium and was melt in your mouth. The prices were so reasonable and we'd easily pay 50% more for the same meal in Houston. Only disappointment was that we didn't have room to try the dessert because I'm sure it would have been amazing. read more

Just had my 2nd visit 8/26/21 and both visits have been amazing. I had the Grouper with a spinach salad (hot bacon dressing) and the gourmet Mac and Cheese for my sides. The food was so good. I had a blueberry lemon drop martini to start which was yummy. My thoughts after my meal is that what could make this meal perfect is a creme brûlée for dessert. Fairly new to the area and been exploring restaurants. Finally found the one! Went here on a Friday night with my wife and had one of the best dining experience that we had had anywhere in quite some time. The salad was very fresh and had a great strawberry dressing, I had the shrimp scampi on rice pilaf and it was absolutely divine. Comparable to what you would be served in Florida. We sat in the bar and it was a little loud but that's typical. The place is very well run the servers were excellent the food was absolutely perfect and came out in a reasonable amount of time. We will definitely be back I just will be our new spot for date night! read more

Pre Dinner tossed salad with house made strawberry salad dressing. All I can can say is AWESOME! The tossed salad just comes with lettuce, radishes, and carrots. For an up charge you can get all the normal fixings. The bread you can tell was house made. It's soft with "Everything" as a crust. My drink I'm sipping. The water tastes fine. Just saying that because other Michigan cities are having concerns. The main course was awesome. My steak was medium rare instead of what I ordered medium. But better undercooked than over. The main meal needed some seasoning, the sauce was good but could have been great with a bit more salt. The reason I'm giving 4 stars because this dish was $26. Overall, service and food excellent. It's my worst pick-up experience. The restaurant was full of people and no one was wearing mask except for one waitress, who's wearing it on her chain. Unfortunately, staff didn't take COVID-19 seriously. Two sides were missing but we couldn't get any kinds of compensation. The food was not cheap but tasted terrible.
