Wow, very impressed. I had the 10 oz prime rib it was more like 18 couldn't eat it all but it was delicious. There special was the ribs my 88 yr old mother ate it all she loved them. I also had the French onion soup, not the best I've ever had but was very good and i would get it again. Overall I would give a solid 4.5 out of 5. It did look like the waitresses were short like most places now a days but the ones there busted their butts to take care of everyone. I would suggest going after 6:30pm since it seemed slowed down. read more

We ate here and all the food was amazing! The prime rib was delicious and we split the meal and it seemed liked they gave us more prime rib than we would have gotten without splitting it. My son had the kobe burger and he said it was the best he had. He also had the gourmet Mac n cheese which I thought was very good as well. The breaded pork chops and the chicken broccoli and cheese were great too! As you can see we all enjoyed all of our food and will definitely go back if we are ever in the area again as some of us live in Florida. read more

Wonderful space, kind of old school and cozy at the same time. I've eaten a lot of steak in a lot of places. I grew up in Montana so I know my way around beef and I'm not exaggerating when I say that this might have been the single best steak I've ever eaten. Seasoned to perfection, melt-in-your mouth, just phenomenal. I had the Porterhouse special which involved a blue cheese cream on top. My dining partner had the steak and seafood au gratin (just decadent, absolutely decadent). We chose the Caesar salads and they were quite large and tasty. I had the baked potato, he had the macaroni and cheese. For dessert we had the vanilla bean creme brulee. We did not have a reservation. It probably would be a good idea to get on a weekend night. As a bonus point, we sat in the bar until our table was ready and it was a seamless transition to the dining area. No fussing over having to pay for our drinks or being asked if we wanted to move them to our waitress, just grab your drinks and go. And the drinks are strong. They don't mess around with those cocktails. read more

Of course I'm the complicated customer that wants something from the lunch menu at dinner time. But my request was pretty simple - grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. Thankfully the server was willing to put in my request, and it was honored. While I waited, I enjoyed the decor of the bar area. I made a comment to the bartender that I liked the antique car collection and she quickly corrected me and told me they weren't just model cars but actually decanters, all of which were full of booze! I was fascinated with this so I googled them, some of them were not cheap! My dinner was cooked perfectly and the service was great. I ate at a table in the bar at around 5:30, so I would expect good service when I was one of few early bird customers. But next time I'm in Escanaba, I'll be back at the Stonehouse! read more

This is HANDS DOWN my favorite restaurant, of all time. I wish I could give 6 stars (come on Yelp!) but I guess 5 will suffice;). I've been coming here since I was a little kid, I am from Chicago but my family has a cabin up North. My favorite dish that I get everyyy time I'm here (I mean, if it ain't broke...) is the broccoli stuffed chicken, with a double baked potato on the side. The sauce they use is fantastic, and the potato is always cooked to perfection. DO NOT LEAVE without trying some dessert as well. Great drinks, great food, great atmosphere, and great service. It really doesn't get better than the Stonehouse. read more

The food here was delicious and our server was very quick and friendly. However, this restaurant did a poor job of enforcing CDC and state requirements for preventing the spread of COVID-19. They had reduced capacity but we were still seated much closer than 6 feet apart from the nearest table. Many people were entering and walking around the restaurant, waiting in the lobby, using the restroom without wearing masks. The staff did not enforce the mask mandate and allowed large groups of people to wait in the waiting area for their table without masks. I understand that this area has not had high rates of COVID, but this is also a tourist spot and there could be people from all over. Overall, although the food was good, I felt very uncomfortable here. read more

Celebrated our honeymoon at The Stonehouse tonight, and it was so good! We started with Caesar salad and the seafood chowder, which were great choices. I had the pecan scallops. So many great flavors in one dish! My husband had the seafood platter (perch, walleye, and whitefish) with garlic potatoes. I think I win for best meal tonight, but both were really good. Hit and miss sometimes but usually have some awesome food! They need to learn what a tomahawk rib-eye is tho. It's not a bone in rib-eye. This place is on the busiest corner in the area. Good thing, it's a gem. I've had 4 meals here in the past 3 years, every visit spot on. I order the walleye, it's been fresh and well Prepared each time. My guests have ordered pork chop and steaks, always pleased with their choices. Service is well paced, they get the first drink out quick and it's well made- Supper club style. Then things slow down, lots of smiles, happy wait staff. My meal at this place was DELICIOUS! Husband and I went for lunch, I had their French onion patty melt. Once of my favorite things at Culver's is their sourdough melt.....this was like that, on crack. Great beef patty with carmelized onions and Swiss on rye, served with a side of au jus. It was to die for. The fries were thick cut and delicious. Husband had a burger....it was good, mine was better. Staff was nice and friendly. Service was fairly prompt. Extensive menu with many options. Only drawbacks in my eyes......a little too supper-clubish decor for what it looks like on the outside (for what I thought was a modern place), and the music they played was not age appropriate for the clientele. I would love to leave a glowing review. This place was recommended to me by multiple people. We were immediately seated and then waited 30 minutes before we got up and left because no one would wait on us. We watched as two other tables around us put in their drink orders, got their drinks, then placed their meal orders. No one even stopped us or noticed when we got up to leave. This place is an oasis in an otherwise simple, low key town. We had angry chicken tacos which came with tempura asparagus as a side (super nice touch) and the baked brie with chopped apples and walnuts. Bloody Marys too. All was fantastic and the service at the bar was impeccable. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. Although it appeared all tables were taken, we were seated within minutes. The wait staff was excellent throughout the meal. I had the Reuben sandwich with homemade chips. The sandwich was scrumptious. A great balance of sauerkraut and corned beef on great marble rye bread. The chips were sprinkled with a cheese/herb combination. My husband had the seared tuna sandwich/cream clam soup. He said the soup had great delicate flavor and loved the tuna sandwich as well. Love this place! You can't go wrong with lunch here and dinner us great too. Make reservations on weekends as it gets very busy but if you don't, have a drink or two at the bar while you wait for your table. My favorites are the whitefish piccata, salmon Sacramento, and any of their specials. Be sure to try the lobster bisque...heavenly. The dessert menu is unintriguing but the ice cream drinks are perfect. Servers are very helpful and professional. Relaxed but nice atmosphere. The woodfired grill makes for some tasty meals. From the start, walking in and getting a couple drinks at the bar and sharing a laugh or 3 is always a good time when Matt is running the bar. By far the best dining experience in Escanaba! We sat at the bar and had a delightful chat with the bar staff. The food was 5 star, and the entire experience exceptional. It has the feel of a quintessential up north supper club, and the food can't be beat. They treat their employees well enough that the vast majority have been with them for 20+ years - no shortage of workers here: when they're treated well, they consistently put out a fabulous product.
