House salad is well executed.

Great food, top notch staff and while it DOES get very busy, it's worth the wait. Recommended.

Brie Appetizer

We arrived at 5:05pm to the parking lot. We were seated at one of the last open tables. This is just an indication of the popularity of the food. And we wholeheartedly agree. The atmosphere is like a supper club with tablecloths, and nice table settings. Our waitress was a masterful expert supported by a strong team. The hostess seats you and takes your drink order, the bar staff deliver the drinks, a waitress brings the best fresh bread and takes your supper order. Whew! High five team! Our food was delicious. The Brie appetizer was grand, it was also fabulous the next day! The walleye meunière was perfect. The prime was perfectly rare. The lobster bisque was good. The strawberry almond salad was delish, house made vinaigrette too. We left without dessert or after dinner drinks but we will try that another time. Large menu with, I'm sure, something to please most diners.

Where do I begin? This is hands down our favorite restaurant EVER. We've been coming here for now 5 years and can't get enough. Anything we've ever ordered is just the best of the best. The staff is always so friendly and professional. I wish we lived closer (well, we're only 25 miles by water but a 4 hour drive or an hour boat ride in summer ).

My friend and I recently spent a weekend in Escanaba and had this on our must visit list. We arrived on a Saturday right as they opened at 5pm. When we arrived, there was already a line at the door. My friend put in our names and we went to the bar to wait. We were told it would be about 30 minutes. We ordered drinks. My bourbon old fashioned was very good and only $5.50. My friend's rum and coke was $3.50. Very much a good value. About 10 minutes in we were called to our table. The dining room is dark and old school supper club. It's comfortable. It was also packed. Our service was exceptional and very friendly and warm. I ordered the Atlantic Red Salmon...a la béarnaise.  $23. It was perfectly cooked with a great sauce. It came with a choice of sides. My Caesar was excellent the twice baked potato was extremely flavorful. Nothing needed salt - the seasoning was on point. The bread served before the dinners is exceptional - soft, garlicky and tasty. My friend had the Great Lakes Platter...Broiled whitefish & walleye with beer battered Perch.  $23 with macaroni and cheese. He loved it and said every component was excellent. Our only regret was that we didn't have more room to try more things. This place is a treasure.

We were there shortly after opening and had to take the last table, a two-top in the bar. The service was good, and the food was wonderful. I started with Lobster Bisque which I highly recommend. My Caesar salad was passable but not exceptional, and I'd skip it next time. Sally ordered Walleye Meuniere and thought it was the best fish dish she had ever had! I chose the Mixed Grill and found it delightful as well. In all, I understand why Stonehouse is so popular, and I'm looking forward to visiting again.

Shrimp Caesar salad. Very tasty! My husband tried to steal it lol!

The food is always excellent but I end up feeling rushed. The best way I can describe the wait staff is to say they are perfunctory. Also the waitperson asks how your food is but doesn't stop to hear your answer. Maybe 1 out of 4 times did I get asked if I wanted a refill on my pop. When my husband was asked and indicated he would like one he was asked if the 1$ they charge for a refill was ok. Weird. Needless to say we will go back there because they seem to be the best place to eat for a distance.

Oh, man. You ever do that thing where you want to try a pasty for the first time, so you search for…read morea good restaurant that has them, then go about your business for a minute, then search the google map for the restaurant based on memory alone, then go to the restaurant only to find out you went to the wrong restaurant because you have the memory of a goldfish? No? Nobody? Just me? Damnit. The silver lining? A wonderful breakfast meal and cheap to boot! Since I realized I'm part idiot (and not the good part), I decided to eat breakfast at my accidental restaurant. Mostly because I was already sitting in the booth and did NOT want to admit defeat. And boy howdy, am I glad I did! I ordered the French toast, eggs, and bacon. Two toasts, two eggs, and about three bacons. And a breakfast Coke (which is normal coke, but in the morning). First off, the eggs. I only eat scrambled eggs because I'm a child. Salt and pepper, then into my mouth. I don't like creamy scrambled eggs and I don't like scrambled eggs that get that weird skin on them for cooking too long. These ones were perfect. I garbled them down. My trick is to heavily salt and pepper them THEN cut them up and mix them together to disperse the seasoning. Eggs 10/10 The French toast? Perfect. Good size slices, a ball of butter on top (thankfully enough to spread over all four triangles), and a ramekin of syrup. They were the perfect portions. The FT (French toast) had the best sponginess and fluffiness. French Toast (FT) 10/10 Finally. The bacon. Look. I am a huss for bacon. I'll do some shady sh** for some good bacon. But I ain't going back to prison. I always ALWAYS request my bacon be floppy. Some places call it limp. I call mine floppy. Because I'm a professional. A lot of places struggle on what floppy should look like. I've had floppy bacon I could put through a plate glass window. I've broken a piece of floppy bacon on a table edge and shanked somebody (see prior prison comment). But here? This place? Sweetie pie, I could tie my shoes with this bacon it's so floppy. I could lasso a baby calf with this floppy a** bacon. If you don't believe me, I attached a photo of what floppy bacon should look like. Professional Floppy Bacon 12/10. I would also like to mention the Coke this place served was top tier. It's like it's chilled prior to coming out the fountain dispenser. It just went down SO smooth. Drink some. Also. It's a medium-quiet place. Family friendly. Has that down home look and feel.

Loaded fries were AMAZING! Stopped here for a quick snack and drink on our way thru...so glad we…read moredid! Beautiful view of Big Bay de Noc, drinks were great as well! Definite must stop again, for sure!

On Saturday night we had a party of 8, so I called a head to make a reservation and was told they…read moredon't take them but they said they could accommodate us, there was no wait and to 'come on up'. When we got there about 15 min later and they told the wait would be about 15 min, which is acceptable. They then sat us at a large table in the back, and basically forgot about us for an additional 20 min, then finally came and got our drink and food order. We were then forgotten about for another 45 min. No one checked drinks or came with water refills. We requested bread when we ordered and one in our party ordered soup, neither of those items ever came out. When our food finally came out, the pasta was cold and the pork loin was so tough it wasn't edible, maybe 3 bites were taken. We brought this to their attention and we were told 'sorry' but they did nothing to make it right. They also charged us for the soup we never got and the mushrooms that were ordered for a steak, that never came. They did take those items off the bill when asked. We also paid $8.97 for 3 CANS of pop, which in my opinion is absolutely outrageous. It was a very disappointing, and VERY expensive experience. We used to love coming, however this is the second time in a row that our experience was horrible and we will not be back.
