Stopalong has been on my list for a while! Finally tried it on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The burger was so delicious! the only downside was the bottom bun got real soggy after a few minutes and I ended up eating it with a fork. Service was friendly and speedy, can't complain! Ambiance is more family oriented than I expected (I thought it was gonna be more dive-y) but that was perfectly fine. Def would recommend! read more

One of the best pizza and burger spots in the city. Ambiance: Really nice spot in wicker park. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. We got a table in the back part of the restaurant outside in their alley. It was comfortable and decorated nicely. Warning: outdoors and especially towards the back you will hear the El train every 10 min or so. It was a bit disruptive but did not ruin anything. Service: We had an attentive server for the evening. Menus were on QR codes on the table amd self explanatory. You had the option to order through the QR website or a server and we had the server take our order. Service was efficient and attentive. Food: Wow where do I start?! - Cheese pizza: we like to keep it simple with pizza and love a cheese pizza. The cheese was plentiful and tasted great, the tomato sauce was super flavorful, and the thin crust was perfectly cooked and crunch. Perfectly done cheese pizza. - Stop inn burger special: had the burger, shot, and beer special with no side. Wow this burger was incredible. Perfect smash perfect with the right amount of toppings and condiments to meat and bread ratio. I wouldn't change anything about it and would say it is one of the best in the city. Came with a PBR and whisky shot. Price: Very fairly priced. Overall $$ signs. The pizza was $16 and the burger special was $$15. Great value for the quality of food. Best burger in Bucktown? Quite possibly. *Minor disclaimer, I have not been to many spots in Bucktown so take this review with a grain of salt* Hazy IPA on tap? YES. Stumbled upon this one while checking out some homes in the neighborhood, and rolled in just in time for happy hour! The dets: Tuesday - Friday 3pm - 6pm featuring $5 cocktails, wines & beers on draft. They do have some daily drink specials as well but more notable is that happy hour is all day on Wednesdays. TURN UP. Ambiance? Think of 80s video games and pizza bar had a bebe would be the best way to describe this spot. Lots of ninja turtles memorabilia, super mario, vintage skateboards, and pop art lining the walls. As well as some old school arcade games to complete the look. Very casual. While the do seem to boast about their pizza, I will say the Stop in Burger is where it's at. A double grilled burger with mustard, american cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, thousand island. While it might sound like a typical burger after the first bite you'll realize how this burger was made to perfection. The juiciness was too real. We also did get to try the Pretty in Pink pizza ~ tomato cream vodka sauce, mushrooms, spinach, prosciutto, garlic, and basil but will say that for me the burger just stole the spotlight. Not sure how it took me so long to hear about this place, but I'm not even kidding, this burger is just as good, if not better than Au Cheval. By far my new favorite burger in the city! I've had both the Stop-In burger and That Other Burger and both are phenomenal. So many good flavors that work so well together, you can't go wrong with either. The pizza is also amazing too. My only complaint is that the fries aren't anything special, but the rest of the food is out of this world so that by far makes up for it. So obsessed with this restaurant! read more

Very disappointed with the pizza at The StopAlong. I ordered a large plain cheese + basil pizza expecting something close to New York-style, but it was far too cheesy and doughy, with zero maillard on the cheese. Service was good, and great color on the undercarriage, but very little crisp and minimal complexity of flavor in the crust. In fairness, my pizza visually looked far worse than a lot of the pizza photos I've seen from others, so I may have just gotten unlucky with a random poorly made pizza (but I came in on a slow weekday afternoon so I'm baffled.) read more

I enjoyed the food at the StopAlong, and the prices were reasonable. However, the service was a bit slow, and some people in our party didn't ever get their drinks. It has a very casual feel, with kitschy decorations all over the place. If you're looking for something more casual, this is a good option in the area. I ordered a pizza in this place yesterday. My kids want to eat pizza because they are craving it. They ask me if they can eat a pizza with a lot of cheese. Since I have no idea where I should buy it, I decided to go to Yelp and search for a location. Then I found this place. It's kilometers away from our house so I grab my keys and drive to this location. When I enter there are few people inside. I went to the counter and told them what I ordered. While waiting for my order I just sit and look around their store. The fun is cool and it looks lively. I think you will really enjoy it if you stay here. After half an hour it came since I ordered a big pizza. I paid for it and went home. My kids are so happy when they see the pizza. They love it and they said it was cheesy. Update: The owner had reached out to offer a resolution which was much appreciated. Pizza was 20 min late after the time it was supposed to be ready (8:23PM instead of 8:03PM). We were there more than 15 minutes before the stated time (7:45PM), which meant we waited for the food for more than 30 minutes in person and was never notified by the staff that our food was ready. While we were in line waiting to grab out pizza to-go, the staff intentionally skipped over us by letting 3 parties blatantly skip over us. Though it is likely that this is not the case, we were the only non-white there and the situation kind of made you wonder why you were skipped even if you've asked for your food multiple times. To make matters worse, we were also hit with the parking ticket as a result of this delay at 8:16PM which could have been totally avoided had the staff put care into the service. To make this experience worth it, the pizza should have been exceptional, but that was not the case either. read more

Had a double with cheese at burgerfest and it was outstanding. Definitely will have to hit up the place in person which will probably be even better. This had one of the longer if not longest lines and it moved very quickly and was worth it. The cheese fries were underwhelming BUT it was a festival setting and I understand that for the interest of serving the masses they have to bend a little somewhere. The StopAlong is definitely a family favorite. Its hard to find a local restaurant that all five of us like. The pizzas are good and they have lots of vegan options - we like the Elle Woods - and the kids like Old School which is a basic margarita pizza. As you can tell this place has a tie to the movies - especially Star Wars. Lots of memorabilia all around. Protip - try to get a seat in the back room as they have old school donkey kong and other 80's video games. So fun. And finally, the StopAlong has IMHO the best vegan burger in the city. Updated Review: I was having a Sunday Funday as I just finished watching the end of the Masters. I was starving and with me being into the Burger rankings, I thought to myself that it would be a GREAT idea to settle the battle between The StopAlong and Small Cheval as they are exactly tied in my burger rankings at an overall 7.33. I stopped in here around 6pm on a Sunday and there was 1 spot at the bar so I took it. I live in the neighborhood and have ordered carry out many times, but this was the first time I dined in. Always a very cool atmosphere and it definitely reminds me of my childhood. Check out my pic of the lunch boxes, video games, and R2-D2! Decently sized place with a full bar and patio seating. They have two burgers, the Stop-In Burger and That Other Burger (Small Cheval), and I have had both before. I was a little tipsy and decided to keep the Sunday Funday going by ordering a PBR. I ordered the Stop-In Burger (Flagship burger) by accident so I was not exactly comparing apples to apples, but whatevs. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best! The presentation of the burger looked great! It was hot and fresh out the kitchen (remix to ignition). Definitely too soon... I bit in and unfortunately the bun was definitely a little stale and I think you can see it in my photo. I think the best part are the burger patties as they are juicy, no seasoning besides salt/pepper, and very good overall. Toppings were good on this burger, but I definitely prefer the toppings on "That Other Burger". Pickles were crisp, lettuce is meh, and the cheese is great. My burger ranking for the StopAlong is Bun: 4, Burger: 9, Toppings: 7, and overall ranking of 7.0. Didn't order fries, but I have had them before and they are only ok, but I thought they beat Small Cheval. Overall, the StopAlong is an extremely cool place that reminds me of my childhood (built for Millennials) that serves all of the junk food you can ever imagine! Literally there is a soft serve ice cream machine. But I had to knock my review down from the pedestal of a 5 as the food is only good to very good. Their pizzas are creative, but again when I look back upon it, they are good to very good, not spectacular. Parmesan bites are great though! Service was fine and prices are fair for Chicago. This review is really a high 4, low 5 overall. I'm not Yelping Small Cheval as it's fast casual, not a restaurant. But the burgers are extremely comparable. I rated Small Cheval the following. Bun: 8, Burger: 5, and Toppings: 7 for the same exact overall ranking as the StopAlong. Both have pros/cons so the battle continues to rage on in Middle Earth! read more

This is actually my go-to for pizza to-go, interior/patio and ambience is nice too for eating in. Pizzas are great, and hope they bring back the arugula ones that got me there in the first place. Normally I'd have given them full score. Why 3 stars? The pickup process needs work. In peak times, UberEats drivers do not wait in line and jump to the front of the queue. The new curly redhead managing the orders is clueless and seems to have horse blinders on. It seemed like yesterday, only the UberEats drivers were being acknowledged at all. Myself and three other customers picking up orders did not get to talk to a single staff member until we had been waiting 30mins, and with multiple drivers jumping us in queue. plus it was near impossible to get their attention, it's as if they were avoiding eye contact at all. The kicker is that I saw multiple pizzas get boxed, put on the counter, and sit for minutes. I had a custom one so I knew when mine was done. I don't know where to begin. We start off by walking through a time portal and go back to a simpler, some may say ever better time. Between the nostalgic ambiance (80s-90s theme), free arcade games, delicious food, and excellent drink menu, you truly cannot go wrong with this place. Once you walk in the place sends your senses into a whirl wind of smells and emotions. Not many places on this planet can give you a feeling like this. Burgers and pizzas are extremely delicious, staff pays close attention to their customers, and the owner checks in with his patrons to make sure they are having a great experience. I've only had pizza here and it's so good I'll probably never get anything else. It's New York style and done perfectly. The spicy Major Payne that we watched them make on Chicago's Best a few years back is fantastic. We've made our own choosing our favorite ingredients while dining in and done takeout during Covid. They never disappoint! Cute little spot with tons of antique and childhood toys lining the shelves. When it gets busy during real world times, it can feel a bit crowded. Hopefully we'll all get back to that but, for now they make me feel safe picking up takeout and their gratitude for support definitely shows. read more

Love this friendly neighborhood spot! We had a chance to dine outdoors here before the weather got too cold and it was exactly what we needed on a Friday night after a walk on the 606. No need to interact with staff because you order using their online platform. The staff is prompt in bringing out your drinks & food. Everything was accurate and our food (garlic knots, pizza, ice cream sandwiches) was consistently delicious as always. We normally get the burger here bc it's one of it our favorites. We saw a long line of takeout patrons and most of the outdoor tables were taken--which we were glad to see. So, I've gone to this place a few times in the past and thought it was a pretty decent place for lunch in Wicker Park. Some out of town friends were staying at a nearby AirBnB, so I suggested we meet up there. Big mistake. This place must have new ownership or management or something, but it's nothing like it used to be. The wait to be served is ridiculous, even for covid times, and the ingredients for the burgers and pizza are DEFINITELY not the quality they used to be. My burger had a dry ass bun, and the lettuce was iceberg, not the fancy stuff they used to have. Hopefully they go back to the staffing and ingredients they used to have, or this place is just gonna circle the drain. read more
