Burger 10/10. It was thick, juicy, perfectly assembled and best of all-- it didn't fall apart. Vegan Burger 10/10. It used beyond patties, again perfectly assembled and it stayed together. Fries 8/10. It was delicious, crunchy and plentiful, however wish there was an option to season it. Walked in and got sat right away, restaurant wasn't too busy. Sat at the table for maybe 7 minutes before anyone bothered to greet us. After that service was fine, but the servers seemed more concerned with chatting amongst them self's rather than greeting tables... The cocktail was fantastic, burger was pretty good. I will say the interior decor was awesome. We came here with my 8 year old nephews and they loved walking around and pointing to each thing they could name on the shelves behind the bar or guessing who was in the pop art on the walls. My nephews and brother have extreme celiac disease and this place came recommended by someone we know with the same food allergy. A few of us ordered burgers and a few of us ordered pizzas having the gluten free crust. The burgers were good but I wouldn't say they were amazing. I thought overall the burger was good not great. The pizzas were also good but nothing to write home about. I was surprised to see this burger was voted one of the best burgers in Chicago because as someone who visits often, I feel like I have had burgers way better. I should've never stopped-in Stop Along, I should've kept the funk on. The Stop Along has made several of "the best burger's in Chicago" list, but I don't understand why? There wasn't anything great about this burger, especially for the price. They're asking 16.50 for the burger, plus $2.00 for bacon. For that price I'd rather go to The Gretel and get a real burger. Casual, friendly service. We stopped in for dinner, and we enjoyed the no frills but good food and beer. The Rt. 41A Salad was a generous portion, light and fresh. We let the Side of Fries sit too long, so they were a tad cold but surprisingly still edible (not stale). My friend liked her burger, and we shared a half order of the Garlic Knots. Wow, they are addictive! Their menu has Hazy IPAs on draft, but unfortunately, it wasn't available when we came in. So, I'll need to come back for that and try their pizza! read more

Their pizza combinations all seemed incredible so it was really hard to pick one. We got the All the right moves (fresh mozzarella, ezzo pepperoni, garlic, e.v.o.o., basil, hot honey, spicy tomato sauce). I have a thing for curly pepperoni and these were perfectly crisp and curled at the edges! The spicy tomato sauce had a nice little kick to it as well. The hot honey adds a nice hint of sweetness to this savory pizza. The only thing that I did not like was that the cheese was overcooked, it wasn't melted or gooey, but rather a bit rubbery. Just moved to the neighborhood and my dental hygienist recommended this place as her favorite burger in the city. Boy was she right! This burger was awesome! Definitely a standard thin patty burger with creamy cheese and sloppy sauce plus lettuce and tomato. Wow, so good, even as takeout. We also got a pizza with pep and hot honey. Pizza, Pizza, Pizza; when you crave it, you need it. What better pizza than getting a really good one that hits that spot when you need it the most which is when you actually get a pizza craving. This place does not disappoint. I've only been in the US for 21 years but seen everything American on TV; that said, I feel like the interiors here are a semi glorified but brighter version of a bar-ish place from the 70s or 80s? Great option for a long bar table where you can have a few drinks or even have your pizza. 2 or 3 arcade video games from the 80s way in the back (lovely touch). The pizza itself is really great. Fantastic toppings, good chew to the crust and sauce was pretty good. I only wish (like I always do and this joint is no exception) they would extend out the toppings another half inch to the edge of the pizza. That however is my opinion. My only observation/experience that was a slight, ever so slight letdown was when we entered the restaurant. You see, the entrance is a little strange. You enter the door and it's like you are right in the middle of the diners while the cashier/host area is nearly in the middle of the restaurant. Being a Friday night, it was crowded. As we entered, one of the servers said to 'wait a minute' and we did wait for many many minutes; was slightly uncomfortable as we felt like we were 'intruding' in the diners' spaces. Finally I walked over to the host section to ask if I was to check in or what the process was. Yes, it was busy but isn't that what restaurants want and should be? That's my only negative and definitely not a negative enough to stop me from going here again. Also wanted to add something about pizzas in general; Far too many times you spend a pretty penny on a pizza (and yes, they are pretty pennies because man have they become pricey compared to just 2 years ago), I've taken home a fresh pizza only to not enjoy it as much. Cause? Reheating just does not do justice to the pizza. Microwaving it should be a felony. However even warming it in the oven messes up the crust from what it was meant to be. We have decided we're probably never doing a take out on pizza or ordering it. You Gotta eat it at the restaurant when the pie comes out fresh. read more

I check, double check, read reviews, ask around and try to filter out "the noise" from the genuine / legitimate deal. Even with these filters I sometimes hit a snag: A movie, I watched this week that got a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, yet it was so boring, it was like watching paint drying - just terrible. A Tic Toc video that rated the best Five Hamburgers in Chicago also missed the mark, giving The StopAlong the #2 Best Burger in Chicago. I mean the place itself is pretty cute and the people working there were great, but the second best burger in Chicago - No! My cheeseburger was cold, dry, salty, and just not great. The bun it came in, was the same way (minus the salty). The fries were tasty but cold, and of course, the ketchup dispenser at our table was empty. All and all, my experience here was just not very good. Believe me, I'm not a hard nose and I give a lot of slack to anyone out there in the cosmos trying to make a living, but if my visit here at StopAlong was them just having a bad day for so be it! Was recommended this place as great NY-style pizza with amazing toppings combinations, and I was so impressed. Started with the cheesy garlic bread, which was delicious and pulled apart with cheese strings in between each piece, plus a good garlic seasoning. And the server advised us to eat it quickly while the cheese was still melty and pulled apart like that, which was great advice. Then we ordered a large "All the right moves" pizza, which is basically a pepperoni and hot honey (plus mozzarella, EVOO, and Basil) and one of my favorite pizzas. SO GOOD. Plus there were like three other pizzas that I wanted and will likely soon return for. Then to finish things off, they have a soft serve machine with delicious vanilla served with EVOO and sea salt (strange right?) but so tasty and such a refreshing way to end the meal. Customer service training needs to be addressed. Ordered for pick up, arrive on time when pizza was to be ready. Informed it was going to be delayed which happens. Left the location and came back to pick up pizza 10 mins later only to be informed that there was going to be an additional delay as the pizza was incorrectly made. I don't know if that was a function of the restaurant or delivery, but regardless, the pizza was so average. Chewy and too much bubbles up crust and not enough flavor.
