Eclectic and charming breakfast and lunch spot in Bellows Falls. The food is delicious! French toast of the day was spiced apple and arrived with two thick cut and fluffy slices topped off with sautéed apple slices and all the trimmings. I had the Thai peanut chicken wrap which was grilled and also very tasty. The typical fruit garnishes on our plate were actually ripe cantaloupe slices and should not be ignored. Note that they do take cards but request that all tips be left in cash. So bring some cash with you! read more

Absolutely adorable! We sat on the couch right by the window, surrounded by art and plants. Our waitress was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. We ordered a chicken salad sandwich and the french toast monte cristo. The french toast was out of this world! Some of the fluffiest I've ever had, with real maple syrup. We loved the addition of the fresh watermelon on the side! The chicken salad sandwich was decent, but could have used a little more flavor. It came with a side of rice which was served cold; we found this to be a strange choice for a side. I would have enjoyed it more if it had been served warm. All around, a great expereince! The food here is always good. But I need to speak about scones. In a multi-state search across VT, NH & Maine, I have found no better scone than here in Bellows Falls at Moon Dog Cafe. The menu and specials offer something for everyone and the atmosphere is welcoming and perfect for a single person, a couple, a family or a group of friends to gather and share a meal. This is located right on the main strip in downtown Bellows Falls, Vermont and right next to lots of great things to do, including Canal Street Art Gallery and Windham Antique Center. This is a charming little cafe that serves breakfast and lunch and also has a nice coffee/espresso to go service with lovely baked goods. The three of us had some great lunches. We were pleased with the shop like atmosphere. There was a pretty chihuahua running around and not really bothering anyone. He was pleasantly greeting the patrons. I had the turkey sandwich with dressing and cranberry sauce. That's where the lunch went worse off. The bread was clearly stale and dry. When I picked up the bread I could tell so.e smeared and scared dry some butter or other sauce. there wasn't any sauce or butter to help get it swallowed. Had there been some butter , then the sandwich would have been mich more palatable. So disappointing. I would think the cook could tell the bread was stale and dry. The crust was too hard to bite. So I took the turkey and greens off the bread and it was like a little salad. $17 for this sandwich. There was about one rounded tablespoon of potato salad on the plate. The reason I am posting this is to hopefully help them be aware of the bread they use. It really was dry and stale, and I only took one bite before I stacked all the bread on a napkin. read more

You'd be a absolute fool to pass this place up if you're hungry and want delicious food. My wife and I come to visit family, we're from New York, and this spot never fails to impress. We had the vegetable beef soup and we shared the meat loaf special sandwich which was OUTSTANDING! The vibe is so great with antique decor and obscure art hanging which is wonderful. The owner and servers are so nice and easy going , it's a must to visit if you are in town. We might have to move here just for the Moon Dog Cafe! read more

I've been regularly going to Moon Dog Cafe for years now. I can't think of any negatives about the place. Its a natural food market and cafe. They have a menu full of non-traditional takes on a bunch of different breakfast/lunch dishes. I've never had a meal there that I didn't enjoy. On top of food, they have a full menu of healthy smoothies, teas, and coffee drinks. Kombucha is on tap for growlers or pint refills. The staff are very down to earth and recognize frequent customers. There isn't cell service there, but honestly you should just enjoy your food and not worry bout whats happening on your phone. read more

Moon Dog Cafe reminds me more of an emporium than a cafe. (I think this may be the first time I've actually used the word "emporium.") When you walk into the lovely old Victorian, you find a large gift shope, with a cafe set off in the corner, and other small rooms/ sections that house a salon and jewelry store. This overall effect is surprisingly charming. I had a generously portioned and economically priced "cupper"--a cup of lentil soup with bread. It was delicious. The bread tasted homemade. I also noticed that Moon Dog uses farm fresh milk. This is a great stop for tourists like us CT daytrippers, but most of the clientele seemed to know each other, which added to the warmth of the atmosphere. read more
