    Sweet potato Seasonal Soup
    Susan R.

Had dinner with a friend at this new-to-me place. The menu has many varied options and there was a separate specials menu, including a couple of featured cocktails. I enjoyed their Two Truths and a Rye while my friend had an espresso martini. I settled on a cup of sweet potato soup (delish!) and the meatloaf. The smoked bacon jam atop the moist and tender meat slices (packed with garlic) were amazing! The roasted veggies and mashed potatoes made this a very filling entree. My friend had the chopped salad with sirloin tip side. She loved the salad but we both felt the tips portion was very skimpy. We finished off the meal with the limoncello mascarpone cake. Our server, Rachel, was exceptional--friendly, anticipatory, always filling water glasses and checking back. The dining room is part of a Colonial home that has a charming vibe. The bar area was crowded and hopping! I'd go back again and again.

after an all-day event in the area, i was starving and looking for a different place than my usual. i stumbled upon the sun tavern online, and decided to give it a try. the sun tavern is a very cute, cape style house with a tavern on one side of the building, and 2 rooms that are more formal. our server, tara, was great. tara, melissa, and our host danielle, shared the detailed story behind the restaurant which was really intriguing! we started with the burrata which was good. for my meal, i ordered the chicken with sautéed spinach (plus garlic) and added some extra seasonal veggies, which they put in the dish and it was delicious! i finished my meal and i never usually do. my friend ordered their sweet chili bbq steak tips, it was great but we both thought they would be better without the sweet chili bbq sauce. i loved the wine special, which was the 2022 lion tamer cabernet sauvignon, delicious! for dessert, they had my favorite, limoncello mascarpone cake, and it was the perfect ending to a satisfying meal. 2022 lion tamer cabernet sauvignon 10/10 homemade bread 10/10 burrata 8/10 chicken 9.5/10 sautéed spinach 9.5/10 steak tips 7.8/10 limoncello mascarpone cake 10/10 i really enjoyed our meals here, and would recommend the sun tavern if you're in the area. ambiance: 4.8/5 food: 4.4/5 drinks: 5/5 service: 5/5 the sun tavern: 4.8/5

What a great rep she is for this restaurant. Richard had clam chowder and I tried it. Superb! I had cooked lobster sushi. Tasty and presented nicely. For meals I had the salmon and couscous w/vegs: WOW! So delish, cooked just right. Very large servings for the prices, took half home. Richard had the scrod w/green beans and fingerling potatoes, all well seasoned. Best views of Plymouth Harbor are here, tastefully decorated interior. No more mirrors! Other than the prices for beef, prices are what one pays normally in most restaurants. People were dressed from casual to more dressy. They had a private room full of women having a great time plus a large banquet/overflow room. Outdoor deck dining available, too. My only complaint was with the air head next table over who could not think to turn the volume down/off on her phone. She/I jumped every time it rang. Old enough to know better, too.

Daughters steak tips were a C-. Friend's blackened chix pasta was a B+. My filet was grey and chewy it gets an F. I sent it back. The table next to us returned their filet, as well. Bad filet night, I guess. Steakhouse this is not. Server was awesome, funny and attentive. The manager did visit our table. He gets a C-. NOTE TO GM'S WHO ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT TRAINED IN GUEST RECOVERY.... It is a BIG deal if we are spending our hard earned $ in your establishment and our meal is horrible. You should apologize. At least act as if you are concerned with the issue. I don't want a free dessert. Here is a sample talking point. " I'm very sorry your dinner experience was not wonderful. That's what we strive for. I will find out why your filet was sub par and remedy the issue. Could I get you another filet free of charge?" I understand your friends are done eating and it's unacceptable for you to be sitting here with no entree. I want to make this right for you. What can I do?" This type of manager response would prevent a 2 star review and my poor recommendation. I would give the restaurant another shot. However, this was not the managers response and we will not be returning. FYI, the "free dessert" shouldn't show up on the bill. It did. Attention to detail??? The water view and the nice napkins may keep the tourists coming, but not this local gal.

I ordered the bone-in veal chop and it was absolutely fantastic, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. What really stood out, beyond the food, was how welcoming the staff was. We got the Brie and Hummus as an appetizer, and it was both sweet and savory. The roasted garlic and raisins were a unique touch. More bread would be preferred. Bread for the table is available upon request, and is sort of skimpy. But honestly, it's probably so your appetite isn't spoiled. For dinner, I got the filet and it was to die for! Absolutely divine! Other people at my table ordered the steak with parmesan fries, scallops, and pear salad. Everyone was impressed. We ended with Espresso Martinis and the Mud Pie for dessert. The pie was INCREDIBLE! I was expecting pudding or a trifle of some sort, but it was actually more like an ice cream pie with heath that just melted in your mouth. My table of 6 shared it. Our waitress was a little abrasive at first, but she grew on us and steered us in the right direction menu-wise. I will absolutely be back!

Winsor is Wonderful!…read more I see that Yelpers do not love Winsor due to the low ratings and reviews but I have to ask why. What I will say is if you read these bad reviews you might be surprised at what people complain about. But, on a more positive note, this will be my 3rd time dining here and everytime has been wonderful (hence my title). The food, ambiance, drinks, etc. you really can't go wrong with any of them. And, the drive there is also stunning. Duxbury as you know is a beautiful beach and golf city with million dollar homes along the way. Cha-Ching! I arrived a little early while I waited for my friend to arrive. The restaurant was not overly crowded which was good for a Friday evening. We sat right near the fireplace which was super nice. When my friend arrived we started with some drinks. Then we were so torn as to what to order so we started with their Tuna Crudo. My favorite since it was super fresh, melt in your mouth sashimi. Yummy! Then we shared a salad which was just ok. For entrees, she ordered the Linquine Vongole which looked good but a huge portion. I ordered Fluke for the first time and although it wasn't what I am used to, I still enjoyed it. We passed on dessert and had coffee with amaro; they have some nice after dinner drinks. All I have to say is go see for yourself that this gorgeous, south shore spot is perfect for any occassion. Or even if you want to grab a glass of wine/drink and sit at the bar, that sounds good too! Cheers~!

A consistently good experience has been the oysters and starters. Fortunately, it's easy to cross the street and eat at the ICO raw bar or bring some oysters home to shuck. That will continue. Cocktails are usually good. But Winnie entrees have been consistently under seasoned and underwhelming these last visits. On our last visit, one dish was so bad that much was inedible (and even what was consumed was mediocre). Vibes are good, so maybe just come for a drink and apps at the bar. I use a cane now, and Liv was the first place on my list of faves to inquire about accessibility. They responded quickly, with kindness and reassurance, and I immediately felt comfortable venturing there. Candace, the server, was awesome. I had the Mermaid Lemonade, oysters, tuna tataki and the Firecracker Shrimp. Oh my!!! Oysters were perfect, I always get the kimchee (which is house made by the chef/owner). The ponzu sauce on the tataki was so good and the delicate little hot peppers on top were the perfect touch. And the shrimp!! Go! Run! Have it! The sauce HD notes of honey, lime and sweet chili. If no one was present I would have picked up the serving dish and poured every last drop of it into my mouth. But, I am glad to have gone here with my friend. The food is fresh, and local. Similar to a farm to table experience. These are my takeaways: Service: Could've been better and with a smile, but in the end it all worked out and we were happy so that is all that matters. Sometimes the way you walk in (energy of the restaurant), does not affect the way you walk out (overall experience). Food: Dollar Oysters were the best and you can't beat the price on a Friday evening. Plus they were from Duxbury so it was well worth it. Farm burger was amazing and definitely order it with the truffle fries for sure. Although my friend did not like the Quail egg but that was her so every one is different. I loved my Lemon Chicken, I ate the whole thing. It was a thin piece of chicken with potatoes but the sauce with the capers really did it for me. I wanted to dip everything into the sauce. It was delish! Drinks/Wine: They have a good wine list too. I liked both the Chenin Blanc and the White Blend. My friend ordered the Smoking Rita which she liked (but without the Mezcal. They also make a good espresso martini too. This paired nicely with our Bread Pudding. Dessert: Here is where the place shined as well. Because the bread pudding was amazing and so flavorful and decadent. We both shared it and it was plenty. Really great and fun place to check out. Ryan our bartender was very friendly and suggested all the good items on the menu. I highly recommend!
