    Spicy selection!

I'm always open to try out new food place even if it's a vegetarian/vegan spot and Au Lac has become one of my absolute favorite spots to go to when we're near the area! Located in a fairly large plaza that's not too busy so it's pretty easy to find parking but the restaurant can get pretty busy but yet not so noisy where you can have a nice conversation with your friends and family! But onto the food! FOOD Bun Bo Hue (Royal Noodle Soup) My girlfriend is a big Bun Bo Hue fan and absolutely loves it here! Not only that but it seems rather popular. I've yet to try it, maybe I'll try it out the next time I'm there but if you're a Bun Bo Hue fan, you should get yourself the Royal Noodle Soup! Salt & Pepper Tofu One of our go-to appetizers. There's something about it that's so addicting, maybe it's the light crunch, maybe it's the soft warm tofu inside but whatever it is, you'll find yourself possibly ordering another plate if you're feeling hungry! Chicken Ro-Ti with Tomato Rice (Com Ga Ro-Ti) I absolutely love this dish! Incredibly delicious, savory and quite filling actually! Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I'm always ordering this whenever we visit lol! What can I say, I'm addicted so you should give it a try! Plus it's one of the crowd-favorites! It's always nice to visit Au Lac. Great atmosphere, extremely friendly employees with great customer service that don't overwhelm you by visiting your table every so often. Plenty of seating even when it gets busy. I also enjoy the fact that when it's someone's birthday, they sing you a happy birthday and EVERYONE (even the customers) join in, so it feels very wholesome. My experience every time we visit is always going to leave a smile on my face. Thank you everyone at Au Lac, we can't wait to visit again soon!

I've always heard great things about Au Lac and I'm so happy I finally got to try it! I can't believe there's no meat whatsoever in their dishes! Everything tastes incredible and I feel that even non vegetarians can enjoy their food. The Bo luc lac was superb, the sauce was sooo delicious. Honestly if I can take a jar of that sauce they used to make the shaken beef, I'd pour it over everything lol. They used a ton of watercress though and I'm not the biggest fan of watercress. I understand it's a salad but damn the ratio of watercress to "beef" is insane. The salt and pepper shrimp was also good and the sauce that paired with it had a spicy kick! They've got a big menu so I def want to come back to try their other items! Service was great. Everyone was very helpful and communicative and appreciated any feedback we had. Felt very welcoming!

Coming to this vegan vietnamese restaurant was really something special. the food was super yummy and I felt like I had alot of energy even after eating it. I'm not vegan but I will come back again so I can try out everything on their menu! The food itself is really tasty. The service was great and the owner Mai was really nice too. I got the papya salad it had strips of vegan jerky which was really good! I got the bun bo hue which was super light and packed with flavor. the salt and pepper mushrooms and vegan shrimp fried which was super good! I think that was my favorite. and got the Hawaiian fruit blended drink which was really light and sweet and refreshing. and for desert the chocolate extasy which had the dark cacao and fruit pruee on the plate was super good as well. will be coming back definitely.

So good!! So refreshing and wasn't oily at All. Also wasn't too salty either. I enjoyed every single dish we got. Easy Parking. Service felt slow but the food was really excellent.

Follow up visit is that they don't have the Spira Lena soup anymore, but the food is still delicious.

I went ham here because vegan and Viet food?! And then seeing the Living Food section and incredible desserts, I was so happy. All indoor seating. Some booths, mostly tables of 2-4. The service was good. They were knowledgeable and answered any questions. They brought out the food at a good pace. My meat-eater friends were particularly impressed with the salt and peppered shrimp appetizer - saying it was almost believable to be actual shrimp given the visual and texture. I have no complaints on food, aside from wishing the rainbow dessert was a little larger in portion. It felt pretty slim. Heads up - it tasted like shaved ice but in cake form, so be ready for its icy nature.

I stopped in for a solo lunch when they opened. They quickly filled 5 tables within 15 mins of opening and had a huge take out order placed at the front. My expectations were high at this point. It took quite a while from ordering to the delivery of the dish to my table but I gave them grace since they just opened their kitchen. I ordered the ap chao, stir fried rice noodles. Although my picture may suggest a bland dish, much of the sauce was underneath the noodles and veggies. Once mixed, the noodles were quickly coated thoroughly with a savory sauce. So much that I was afraid it was too salty at one point. There were some parts of the dish with cold uncooked noodles however, so knocking off a star for that. I requested chilis and they delivered, although this took a while too, fresh red chilis and a chili soaked in vinegar. I loved both, will come back to try other dishes ...hopefully they'll be quicker with service then.

Been awhile since I been here, over decade I think but the place is still the same (some upgrade) but most are the same. Plenty of parking, and inside is very spacious and very colorful and dark tone of painting. Calm vibe and friendly and attentive service here...or I was their 1st customer. Foods are great as i remembered and thy are still is, got com tam and it is well presented and very tasty and yummy. I finished it within 5mins...great place for veggies foods with great service.

this place is one of the best vegan restaurants i've had. this was my second time here, the food is so good that you forget that it's even vegan. they have a lot of parking and a lot of seating inside with a great atmosphere! the servers are so kind and the quality of service is amazing - they make sure that everything is going good and everyone has what they need. i got the bun bo hue, and the broth was great! it definitely doesn't have the traditional bun bo hue taste but it was an amazing taste on it's own. it was also a good portion for me! on my first visit, i had the bo luc lac and that was amazingggg i was pleasantly surprised.

Cá Nướng Trui (Grilled Fish Rice Paper Wraps) ($29)
    Alma H.

Waiter recommended Cá Nướng Trui as their speciality dish, perfect serving for party of 2. We asked for red chilis for the dipping sauce. It was delicious, we'll be back! Service was not so great. There were 2 waiters, wave down a waiter for some napkins, but he asked what we needed from the back of the bar, the other waiter was great. Vegetarian Grilled "Fish" & Rice Paper Wraps (Cá Nướng Trui) for $29. nori fish topped with peanuts and fried onion. Served with romaine, mint leaves, pickled daikon, carrot, cucumber, vermicelli, brown rice paper and pineapple dipping sauce.

Likes: + Yummy healthy food. Exotic culinary style. + Elegant, classy interior decor. + Polite, helpful staff. + Ample parking & indoor seating. . Not your best protein options. Non-likes: - Very extortionate. I consumed $50 worth of sustenance. If I ate here often, I'd go broke. - From the outside, the restaurant wall seems black and boarded up. Not an appealing look. I had: $20 Curried Rice (Raw) + $10 Hawaiian Blend + $18 Au Lac Raw + tax = $52.20

    Menu 10/10/25
    Holly S.

Really big interior, with an abundance of tables. Would be a great location for larger parties/groups. Ann was my server and she was super duper! Answered all my questions and made some great recommendations. For the main, ordered the hot & sour. Unique mix of items: red bell peppers, lots of sea veggies (kelp/seaweed), thinly sliced green olives, even sliced dates... it did not have a strong curry flavor and was really watery. The soup is also just ambient temp bc it's one of the "living items". Might get again, at least I know what to expect next time. The steamed jicama rolls were really yummy and the vegan fish sauce was excellent. I want to try more items, so I left with the intent to return. Parking lot can be very crowed during peak hours.

    How/where can I make a reservation online?

Hi Gui, you can call our restaurant line: (714)-418-0658, or send a message on AuLac.com. Thank you and we look forward to serving you soon!

    Are there gluten-free options?

Yes, plenty of veggies all GF.

    How about EBT card accepted?

As far as I know, no they wouldn't be able to process an EBT card. But please call the restaurant and ask them to confirm. But most dine in restaurants do not take EBT.

What type of cooking oil is used?

Hi Marty! We use rice bran oil and olive oil to fry and sautée, and raw extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil in our living foods. Thanks for your inquiry and we look forward to serving you soon.

    Do you accept EBT payment?

Unfortunately not. Cash or credit or debit. Thank you

Do you use MSG and cooking oil? I am looking for plant-based meals without MSG and cooking oil.

I do believe that they do not use added MSG but naturally occurring sodium glutamate can be found in the ingredients.

We used to frequent this restaurant years ago. We would love to come again and we're wondering if that wonderful raw food chef Ito was still there?

For the last few years, he has been in the LA restaurant! He might come in on days that I don't frequent though. Call and ask!

Is this place vegan or vegetarian?

Hi Helen, Au Lac's menu is vegan, including vegan vietnamese and vegan living food options. Hope to serve you soon!

Do you allow guests to bring a bottle of wine, charge a corkage fee?

Unfortunately, we do not have the license to serve alcohol.

Are they open for dine in?

Yes! But not been there yet so don't know how the seating arrangement is.

    Are Vegan options available here?

It was my understanding this is a vegan restaurant.

No prices here or on the menu. Any idea what the average for an entre is?…

$5-$10 for starters, $11-$18 for entrees except specialities are $20, $5-$8 for desserts. You can go on their website and look in the takeout/delivery option with chownow, where prices per dish are listed.

Their menu specializes in Korean style premium seafood items. They have the option of live or not. They had different set options and items you can get a la carte. We went with their live fish and sashimi set C. We also got some live shrimp and live octopus to try. I love that the staff was super knowledgeable and explained everything to us. The live set included a lot of side dishes. It also included halibut and flounder, a platter of abalone, sea cucumber, cold soup, hot fish soup, calamari and vegetable tempura. All of which were amazing and tasted very fresh. The live octopus was definitely an experience. They tasted fresh and sweet and were very actively moving. If you want to try it I would definitely recommend trying it here. The chef was nice enough to have us try two types of nigiri. Both were amazing and fatty. The whole dinner was quite an experience. Since there were so many dishes they made sure to go in order but not rush us since many items were coming out. The staff was super attentive. Many items came with its own sauce so they made sure we were doing it right. We spent about $400 for 3 people which included alcohol. I thought it was fair especially for how fresh our seafood was. The ceviche was good--no complaints there. Unfortunately, the other dishes were disappointing. The poké bowl was mostly vegetables, with very little tuna and rice. It felt like only about 5% of the bowl was tuna, so they really skimped on the main ingredient. The lobster roll was also lacking in lobster, and the bread-to-lobster ratio was way off. The service was equally disappointing. Our server forgot to put in our drink order, and I had to remind her, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. After we placed our food order, we waited over 30 minutes for it to arrive. Meanwhile, we watched several tables that were seated after us receive their food within about 10 minutes. To make matters worse, we happened to visit on a hot day. The restaurant is completely open-air, but there were no fans or any noticeable airflow, making it very uncomfortable. Overall, we won't be returning. Between the tiny portions of protein, the poor service, and the uncomfortable dining environment, the experience wasn't worth it.

I was trying to figure out how they did that because usually pork has a nice chew to it. You could eat this with no teeth and thats no exaggeration. The sauce kinda overpowers the nice smoked pork flavor. The rice was amazing- made with sesame oil or something. My wife had the salmon and loved it. Huge dish too. Oh their ceasar salad has the big ancovy fishes on top - not my favorite but some places do this. Just FYI. Some other review mentioned it looked like a concrete bunker with flowers.
