If I could I would give this place negative starts. I have been to other Super dentist locations in san diego and have been happy with the service they provide my little one. However this place was such a nightmare i could not believe it was real. Going into the office the front staff was helpful getting my information down, the dental assistant was very nice and did a very good job with my son and explaining what needed to be done (because as soon as we asked the dentist a question he got irritated and left). Now when the actual dentist came in he was rude, dismissed our questions (2) and spent little to no time examining our sons mouth. Our son needed a crown something my spouse and I have never had, so understandingly we had a question what it actually was and why a simple fill wouldn't be recommended. Like I said before this dentist walked out said "I'll let you guys discuss this" Now am I missing something? Are parents not allowed to ask a simple question? Im not sure how the hiring and firing process works but this particular dentist can not be working with children he is very rude with absolutely no patience. I want to say my son has gotten treated before in the chula vista location without a problem. My son was choking on his saliva while getting treated and the at this time the dental assistant is assisting this dentist holding another device for him so we politely ask her if she could vacuum my sons saliva out and the dentist, i kid you not, tells us if we want to do it meaning the root canal on our 5 year old son and proceeded to hold out his tools for us to get!!! If you parents get this asian male dentist please request someone else to work on your childs mouth. Needless to say we won't be going back there ever again. Its so sad we loved going to the super dentist but after this experience we won't be going again. I hope this dentist gets terminated, because he does not represent the company at all. I am giving just one star because the waiting time is just ridiculous. This has been a thing in the last few visits here. I waited an hour last time.. You go to the front to let them know. And they basically tell you because your appointment is crown molding that is why is taking forever to see you. I still don't understand that explanation. Today again, I have been here since 11:15. My appointment is at 11:30. I arrived early as a courtesy. And again! Almost noon and still waiting. The lady next to me had an appointment at 11 and it is almost 12 and she still waiting! I mean, what is the point of scheduling an appointment? They want us to reply and confirm the appointments via text or email. I think is fair that they honour the people's time and the time appointments are schedule. read more

I have 3 kids, and have taken my kids here from 2011-2017 and I thank God, my husband convinced me to look for a different dental office. Let's start with the fact that looks can be deceiving especially at the Super Dentist. They designed it so that it's amazingly attracting with the feels of a fairy tale land so well put together. BUT this dental office not even close to a fairy tale, instead the way it operates is truly a wolf in sheeps clothing. The girls in the front office are nice, this 1 star is for them only. I WARN YOU PARENTS, DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE. They rush in the work they do, because their Only Concern which is top Priority is obviously seeing a high volume of patients per day to generate as much income as possible per day. So they fill up their schedules, over work their assistants and drs, and in return your child get rushed with poor quality service, and dental work that doesn't hold, just so that you can go back to get it redone. That's not even the worst part. The last time I went here was for my 3 kids to get their normal cleaning. The dentist said that one of my boys needed his front tooth extracted asap. Mind you, the tooth looked fine, he has never complained about it and he's only 5. Afterwards, the assistant went on to telling me that if it didn't get extracted that my son could possibly get a disease in his blood and have serious health issues. Completely freaked me out, but at the same time I was confused because there were no obvious signs of this tooth needing to be pulled out. SOOOOO......I went and got a second opinion, and guess what?? He doesn't even need his tooth pulled out.... all he needs is a crown, and where I went to get the 2nd opinion told me that the reason my sons other crown fell was because it was a poor quality crown, not even porcelain. The super dentist blamed the way my sons bite was positioned, but it had nothing to do with it. I could go on and on and on........ for anyone reading this just look elsewhere. The Super Dentist DOES NOT HAVE THE BEST INTEREST FOR YOUR CHILD. THEY HAVE THE BEST INTEREST FOR THEIR INCOME AND CAN ONLY ACHIEVE WITH HIGH VOLUMES OF PATIENTS and that's my main point. *****Oh also my youngest son, is 4, he is HIGHLY TRAUMATIZED from his experience at the Super Dentist and cried and screamed his head off when I told him we were going to the dentist again (for the 2nd opinion I wanted) but when I told him it was a different dentist, he calmed down, and from the service we received there, he actually wants to go back to our NEW dentist. read more

I would never take my son anywhere else! We have been coming to the Super Dentists in Oceanside for over 6 years. My son is on the Autism Spectrum and needs a little extra care and patience when visiting the dentist. Our most recent hygienist, Richard, was wonderful! He was very encouraging, lighting fast, and made the whole process a breeze. Also, the fees are very reasonable. We do not have dental insurance, so to get a cleaning, x-ray, examination, and fluoride treatment all for $125 is amazing! Super Dentists, keep up the good work! read more

Very unprofessional!! We had a very negative experience. Our 5 year old daughter was excited to go to the dentist for the first time and was completely let down. None of the staff introduced themselves and none of the procedures were explained to her ahead of time. They suggested doing a sealant but did mention the cost or if the insurance would cover it or not. The actual dentist was nice but her visit was very brief. The nurse or technician on the other hand was very impatient and hardly said a word to me or my daughter. If I could, I would give them no stars! Don't waist your time! read more

I gave this place two chances. First time we went back in October 2016 I waited with my 1 year old and my 3 year old for an hour and a half, then another hour back in the chair and was finally out of there 3 hours later. The dental hygienist was SO SO apologetic and gave my kids extra toys to say sorry for the wait (even though by then they were in shambles). Fast forward to this week we came in again I rearranged my work schedule, my babysitter's schedule and took my son out of school to get to our appointment. My appointment was at 1pm, we arrived at 12:45pm. My kids love the scenery, the games are a little to old for them since they are only 2 and 4 now but it's nice you don't have to worry about them destroying a nice dental office waiting room. It's 1:15, people are getting called back 1:30 comes and I ask the front desk when we will be called (to make sure we didn't miss something) she gives me a smug "Ma'am you will be called back shortly" then at 1:45pm after watching people arrive AFTER us and be called back BEFORE us, I'm mad. I've done this before, I've waited here patiently and apparently this is how they treat their customers. Like items on an assembly line. I tell the lady at the front desk again, "I've rearranged my entire schedule to make our appointment on time and we've been here since 12:45" I get an EYE ROLL and a "Ma'am, you will be called back shortly" Some blonde comes out from behind the counter and says "when was her appointment?" I reply "1:00 and we wont be back"....then our name gets called. No "sorry" no "let me check on it" NOTHING. The customer ME, my small children we're an INCONVENIENCE! The only reason I am giving two stars is because the dental hygienist AGAIN was amazing and apologetic. We were out of there in a half hour with both my kids getting their teeth cleaned. My children earned toys for no cavities with their points program they offer but I had to leave, I had to get to work and in NO way was I going to talk to the front lady AGAIN to be disrespected AGAIN. So they have a great concept but it's not worth the way they make you feel. I don't know many parents, especially working parents, that have the time to play their little game so your kids can see super hero costumes on display. NO thanks. read more

Horrific!!!! Went to The Super Dentist even tho they are not covered by my sons dental insurance. I was sucked in by their elaborate advertising and office decor and thought they would be worth the money. Paid $99 for his exam. The "dentist" spent less than 3 minutes in the room and told me my son had 4 cavities before she rushed out like a tornado. And yes, she used he word "cavity" in front of my son many times. I couldn't believe it and was left sitting there shocked that my son had 4 cavities. I made his appointment for his fillings and they gave me a quote for over $1300 but gave me a random unknown discount bringing my total to just over $700. I began reading reviews that night (which I should have done prior) and read about all the people who they have lied to who have gotten second opinions and were found to have NO cavities. I took my son to 2 other dentists and both found 1 cavity. NOT 4, but 1!!!! I am so sad for all the children who are treated at the Super Dentist. It is beyond me how they are in practice and how this isn't child abuse. I will be going to see Jose Vasquez at Tri City Children's Dentistry. Not only does he not strap the kids down, but he doesn't sedate the children and has been amazing with my son so far. read more

Lisa in the office is just wonderful and helpful and gave me many options to pay and tons of helpful information... Mariah and Genevieve has a great visit, the Dentist and dental assistants were wonderful with my girls. Trust me Genevieve is not one who loves the dentist. They have a kids club and the girls and now trying to get as much points as possible. They have a super friend who plays with the kids, my girls played Uno, candyland and got their face painted. Great kids movies in the lobby. The experience was wonderful, Trust me Genevieve hates the dentist it is usually something we both dread. Now I think she looks forward to her next visit. read more

Worst experience. Never taking my kids back ever again! From A to Z it was miserable: check in, broken TVs/games for kids, care, disregarded my instructions and weird billing charges followed... yah this place looks cool and has a fun environment for the kids, but im so sick and tired of them sending me bills with charges that were never discussed at the time of the appointment! they told me sealants were $21 a tooth, i paid it on the spot, then they bill my insurance $800 for sealants, and also bill me a $75 charge for "oral hygiene care" which i find out was the 4 mins the lady spent showing my son how to brush his teeth!!! my son is 5 now and i have been taking him there every 6 months since he was one year. after im doing fighting these charges with them, im done with this place. dont get yourself into this mess with them and their hidden charges! on top of that, although i like that they offer late appointments for working parents, but they try and squeeze as many people in as possible so they can make the money, and only spend minimum time with each child. read more

Today I took my daughter in for her very 1st dental appointment who is 10 months with 6 teeth , I waked in and wasn't greeted , receptionists didn't even turn to look at me . Dental assistant was rude , she kept mentioning that my daughter doesn't even have teeth & my daughters father was running a little late so I mentioned to her if her can come on back when he arrived and she insisted that it wouldn't even take long because she has no teeth so no because we would be done before he even got there , doctor came in and didn't even say hi or anything just sat me and my daughter back in the chair and started trying to look at her mouth and within 5 seconds she sat me back up and called it a day, she said she was done & was her way out the room , she didn't even let me ask any questions and didn't say anything regarding her teeth , I was left with such a bad inpression and left with many unanswered questions , never coming back here again . Poor communication and customer service. Appt #1) Took my 4 kids for an exam and cleanings. They were all in one room for the treatments. Appt #2) Took my 2 older kids for treatments. One was put into a small TV waiting room in the back by the treatment rooms while the other started her treatment. Paid $45 for sealants recommended for my daughter during appt #1. Was told during appt #2 that she didn't need them due to fillings already on those teeth (shouldn't the dentist have seen this upon first exam?) Son had two teeth pulled and was told he needed a mouthpiece fitted to hold his other teeth into place, cost $180. Never was this mentioned during the 1st appointment nor noted on his treatment plan paperwork. Appt #3) Waited 30 mins past appt time, asked about scheduling and was told "we always tell our customers to expect a 3 hour time frame for treatment." Really, you couldn't have told me this before? Get called back for treatment to be told that my son's siblings could not come back with us and would have to stay in the reception area. My sons are 4 and 8 years old. I do not leave them unsupervised. Staff suggested I stay with them while they treated my other son without me. Um, no deal. I told them that the last time, my children were allowed into the back TV room and that I hadn't been told no siblings or I would have made other arrangements. Staff was unsympathetic or willing to compromise. We left without treatment. I have called the office MULTIPLE times now and have wait times on hold of over 10 minutes... once I was hung up on after waiting for 8 minutes. Today I waited over 11 minutes on hold before hanging up. I am still awaiting a call back from the billing department for a refund of my $45. read more

Worse dental office.. front staff is great! But the actual working staff in the back are horrible.. They are disorganized... the dentist forgot a huge cavity on my daughter, we had to call her back in but she has tons of other patients. The current lady working on my daughter is cold.. very slow. But she does have time to send messages in the computer while wearing gloves with my daughter's blood in her fingertips!! Now my daughter is screaming... and we still have to wait for the dentist to return to work on that cavity she forgot. read more

In my opinion, disappointing and unethical. For all the pretty window dressing and marketing done to excite the kids, I was rushed though treatment, discovered in billing about a root canal that was never discussed with me. Once over in the ortho side, Sandra was selling the services to my child, not me, and strongly was suggesting that the treatment was needed to make her beautiful and look smart (or without it she would not be beautiful and look dumb). I read some great reviews on this office so I thought I'd give it a try for my one year old son's first dental visit. When I called to set up the appointment I asked if I needed to get a referral from my dentist since I have an HMO. I was told NO it was not necessary. Well, when I went it, I filled out all of the paperwork which took ten minutes and waited another fifteen minutes before they informed me I would have to pay out of pocket since I didn't bring in a referral! I told the indifferent receptionist that I specifically asked if I need a referral while making the appointment and that I was told NO otherwise I wouldn't have taken the day off to bring my son in. She just shrugged her shoulders and didn't reply. So I walked out, very irritated. I never got a phone call apologizing for the huge inconvenience or to follow up or anything! I wasted my time and money by taking a day off of work and pulling my son out of day care for some idiot's inexperience. I will definitely NOT be returning to this office. read more

Im sorry to have to downgrade stars here on the super dentist, but honestly.. It must be done. I really hope they can fix the issues I've been encountering, b/c the kids absolutely LOVE this place. I mean the place is designed to be a kids paradise and thats what it is. The "tooth keri" is also a sweetheart, which is so important in a pediatric environment. However, lets get to why Im downgrading to 3 stars. We have been chronically overbilled there for the past yr. When you call to fix the problem, they direct you to their business line, as they cannot address those probs for you. I would have to call again & again and tell the same story over & over, and they would assure me the prob was fixed. Only the next month we'd receive the same bill with late charges added. Very frustrating. This last visit though really took the cake. I had my lil guy in to have small cavity filled, and I decided i did not want him given the sedation pill or Nitris gas since he was very calm & not worried about the procedure. Not to mention it would have been close to an additional $300! He also had eaten within 4 hrs of the appt, which is a big no no with anesthesia, and I told the back desk before we went back to the chair as well. I looked down at my phone for 30 secs after he was all set up in the chair and the tech had started the gas on him anyway! Unbelievable! I quickly let her know that he was not to be getting any gas, so she pulled it off right away. She was very apologetic, so I wasnt about to bash her for an honest mistake, as it was NOT removed on his order. On the way out, I informed the back desk clerk of what happened & that she never removed the gas from his order, even though I had told her to do so right before we went back for the procedure. This clerk also happens to be the least friendly person working there (all the rest are very nice). Long story short, a few days later I was mailed the bill which still contained the charge for the gas! Ugh! This is your last chance super dentists! I hope you guys can fix these probs as my kids really do love the office.. But one more slip up and we will take our teeth elsewhere! Lol! So Yelpers, just be aware of your bill if you do decide to give super dentist a try. Also, beware that some of the staff (not all) may try & push expensive but unnecessary items on you.. i.e sealants on your child's baby teeth that he will be losing in a year or 2 anyway! My daughter's first experience was great. the staff was very nurturing during procedure. all the tools had comforting nicknames to relax children.The second time, I visited to make an appointment and the front receptionist looked stressed and told me to call. A woman named Lisa came out and offered to help. The third experience was horrible! I checked in 15 minutes early. There was one person in the lobby with me my daughter. my appointment was for 3pm. by 3:05 the whole lobby was full! There was no where to sit! we checked in first but were like the eighth to be called back. we were seated in the chairs with two other families. one tech did the xrays one by one. i noticed that our p.i.i (person identifiable information) was left exposed and anybody could stop to read info. on the paper. finally after being called last for everything else, we didn't have to wait last for the cleaning. the problem that i have is that they do your cleaning before the exam so they use the flouride without knowing if you have cavities. then if you have cavities, you have to pay more money because insurance only cover one application every 6 months. so, after finding out that my daughter had cavities we had to wait again. Luckily, i had Ms. Liz and Ms. Lisa( again) to help me and answer questions. sometimes i get frustrated with overcrowding- which makes me impatient, i do however acknowledge people who continue to help even though they may be annoyed. they are very helpful which made me relax a lot, until i walked to the lobby. 40 minutes later, still nowhere to sit. i asked Ms. Lisa and Ms. Liz if it was okay to sit outside. They said they would tell the tech that i was waiting and they did. the fillings went quicker than expected. there was a lot of encouragement and calm voice to calm my crying child. 3 stars for lack of consistency. 1 star for overbooking.5 stars for Ms. Lisa and Ms. Liz. read more

I quote the lady at the front desk: "We deleted your file". So for your mistake of deleting our file, our reward was to wait 1 hour (with no end in sight)? Second, let me explain what an "appointment" is. First the definition: "an arrangement to meet someone at a particular time and place". So you see Sarah, that's what we did when we scheduled our "appointment". Now you are saying that it isn't really an "appointment", but rather a commitment for a patient to call you again about our "appointment" but the next time confirm it. So basically I would need to make an "appointment" to call you to confirm my "appointment". Gotcha. Well, I have never in my life had to do that with any dentist or doctor. But you are SUPER Dentist. I'll stick to my personal, unSUPER dentist that has some crazy concept of scheduling an "appointment" time and actually honoring it without needing me to remember to call again at some other time to confirm it. Very poor judgement on the dentists part. My 5 year old was screaming in pain while getting her tooth drilled out and the dentist refused to listen to her. They completely ignored her screams for help until I spoke up and said that she was in pain and to give her more numbing meds. The dentist said that all kids act like this and she was just scared and did not do anything about my daughter being in pain. They strapped her completely down to the chair instead of trying to give her more numbing meds first. Absolutely disgusting. read more

This place is horrible! Don't let the little kiddie gimmicks fool you! Took our daughter because her tooth was hurting and they suggested to do a root canal right there on the spot. They put her out and did the root canal and my daughter came out with a shiney gold cap on her left molar. About a week later my daughter got an infection and the tooth was abscess. Immediately took her in and they suggested pulling the tooth. These guys just want money and they know the military personnel have insurance so be prepared to come in a few times. This review is for the Oceanside location. The orthodontics Doctor is great but their staff is unorganized on setting up appointments. My appointments keep getting canceled with no call no notice. I consider this very unprofessional. They done this to me 4 times now, were I get there to my daughters appointment and only to find out she's not on the schedule or her appointment has been cancel. All they do is apologize and promised it won't happen again but then it keeps happening. I have lost full days of work and my daughter has lost full school days for nothing. This time their excuse was because of covid but they are just using this as an excuse because last year I had 3 appointments Cancel with no notice before this and that was before covid. Also I'm not the only one going through this I seen other parents turn away for the same reason including some of my family members . They have no empathy for parents having to make work arrangements and taking the day off for appointment. Today I lost a day of work with no pay for nothing. So I would have to loose another day of work not trusting that they are really going to see my daughter for her appppintment for sure. I'm really thinking on doing some research for a different dental office to continue with her orthodontics treatment one that actually nows how to scheduled appointments and that actually care about their patients time . read more

I was so happy with all the staff at the oceanside location when I brought my son 6 months ago. That I referred this place to friends that were looking for a dentist. I brought my son yesterday for a cleaning, it took 40 min to be called back, I asked the front receptionists why was it taking so long and they gave me the excuse that some patients take longer then others. It seems like they double book patients and in most of the reviews that's the biggest complain. I pay cash for my son's visits so I can take him anywhere I want, I was told the price for cleaning would be less and I ended up paying more then the first patient visit and it was without xrays. I will not bring my son again to this place again. read more

Very poor customer service and patient bedside manner. You show up for your appointment on time and they do not see you until like 40 minutes later. The front office staff looks at you like if you are bothering them when you have questions and just blow you off with yeah yeah or you know what they are closed on the weekends so we cannot check on that for you and come to find out the place is open on the weekend. They have no answers to your questions, the managers are not in and they will call you back, yet no one ever follows up. Procedures are recommended at a higher cost than necessary and not always in the best interest of the patient. So beware and just be cautious if procedure recommendations are a must or if there are more humane and alternate solutions. Example, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) was recommended when the procedure could have just been used local anesthesia and be just as effective. I was not able to afford the nitrous oxide which originally they told me was a must for the cavity filling then I come to find out procedure can be done with just local anesthesia and my daughter tolerated it well. I realized that they just had to actually do patient care and present some sort of bedside manner which with the nitrous oxide would not be that necessary and cost me a lot more out of pocket as it was not covered! I then asked them to check with my additional coverage for approval on payment. They told me that place was closed so they could not call. I then followed up immediately after the front desk told me that they could not help me and someone from the additional coverage was available and willing to speak with the Super Dentists contrary to what they had told me. In the end after more details were uncovered, and I realized for fillings all we need is local anesthesia, I opted for the local anesthesia which was only a fraction of the cost. Not at all impressed with their service and care here at all. They can keep all their hype and toys and games as another reviewer noted. We are looking for a new dental care provider. Only reason for 2 stars was the routine staff, they were great, however, the work done on my son was traumatic to say the least. They did not sedate him properly and I had to force them to stop! I told them to stop, they ignored me, I got louder and shouted I NEED YOU TO STOP, still NOTHING! I got up and approached them as I was practically shouting at them to stop! They finally stopped and I grabbed my son and we went into the bathroom. I held him and he was just crying. After a while we went back into the room and we're offered more meds to at least finish putting the crown on his tooth. My brave boy agreed as long as it would be less than a few mins. We were there a total of 6 HOURS! The dental assistant assisting the doctor was terrible! She was beyond rough and incompetent!! If she would have done her job properly, it would have been 30-40 mins worth of work. PARENTS, BE YOUR CHILD'S ADVOCATE! I regret not stopping them sooner! My son is traumatized! Its all marketing hype and no substance. Did 4 root canals/crowns on my 6yo while he was strapped to a board and in pain. I kept telling them he needed more pain meds but they just ignored me and kept drilling. Now my son won't let a dentist touch him and he had to be fully sedated to fix the rest of his teeth after the trauma they put him through. Not to mention, my other son got a $500 estimate one visit and the next visit he needed "no work." Ummm...I didn't know cavities healed themselves. They make the outside fun for kids with games and lots for the kids to see. I do not like the service there. They overschedule thier patients and my youngest daughter had to have her filling redone that was done there. They also told me my daughter needed a spacer and two times that we came in for it they did not have it. I thought this was a great dentist at first but after a few visits I knew better. read more
