This has taken me a couple of days to think about because I wanted this to be a hit. We just finished watching Lilo & Stitch so what perfect way to follow up the movie, but a Hawaiian lunch that wasn't fast food. However, due to a few things, I think there's potential to improve. 1. The space - its awkwardly small. The bar takes half the space and I'm really unsure how they handle a busy Friday night. The Fin hotel had a lobby, the switchboard restaurant, and then a coffee shop. The restaurant has 3 tables, plus bar seating. 2. Entrance - no one greeted us. We didn't know where to go to get seated. One couple was eating at a table, and another pair of guys were at the bar. My partner eventually walked to the coffee shop to check where to get seated and someone came out to help us. 3. Seating arrangement - at first, my party of 3 was going to be seated in the corner, awkwardly next to the old couple who was already taking up the table snuggly right next to it. We asked if we can sit at the table by the window. A third chair was pulled up and I sat partly in the walkway space. 4. Brunch menu - great selection of food, but limited in vegetarian options. I was excited to see that tofu was an option for the Hawaiian plate. In fact, my whole party of 3 ordered the Hawaiian plate, but we each chose different proteins - tofu, Kahlua pork, and bulgogi beef. I eat tofu A LOT. I cook tofu A LOT. This tofu was WEAK and I was UNimpressed. It was literally cooked on a flat top with maybe a tsp of soy sauce? I couldn't taste it, if thats what made it brown (although it could've been oil). How could you serve 3 slabs of tofu with a touch of furikake and call it $23? It needed more flavor (like teriyaki) or it also could have been made crispy with some cornstarch and panko and turn it into tofu katsu. So much potential! I had a taste of the bulgogi and kahlua (i had hope for this spot), and they actually had flavor. The Hawaiian mac was the best part of my plate. The fried rice was fine; I added the hot sauce they provided. 5. Service - was OK at first, but he didn't ask any one of us if we wanted white rice or fried rice with our Hawaiian plates. For some reason, all three of us got the fried rice. We didn't think anything of it because maybe we misread the menu, but here comes the bill and a $2 extra charge times 3. I didn't say anything because we ate it all, but I warn you to double check the menu options. $25 each Hawaiian plate for us.
First time here for breakfast, and the main restaurant area was full. There was bar seating for 5, but not an actual table. So they seated us outside in the lobby next door, which was shared with the Fin Hotel. It was quiet. Service was pretty quick. Food was pretty good. We ordered the kalua pork fries (pretty good) and coconut shrimp (6 pieces) as appetizers. Coconut shrimp wasn't worth it though. You only get 6 pieces. The Island Breakfast was decent- can choose how you'd like your eggs. Spam was pretty salty. The Hawaiian plate with teriyaki was good. The mac salad was good and so was the teriyaki chicken (tender and not salty). The Loco Moco was good too. For the chicken and waffles, the chicken was good but the waffles were really sweet. Felt more like a dessert waffle rather than entreé. Parking was on the street.
Came here on a Saturday around 3:50pm- was happily surprised they still have happy hour on the weekends but it ends at 4pm! The server was nice and gave us the heads up to put in our orders asap to get the deal. We ordered the crispy dumplings, the kalua pork fries, and the switchboard burger. Everything was super tasty but the appetizers were my favorite. I think the burger was just okay- I wish there was a sauce on there that made it tastier. The dumplings and fries though were soo good! It wasn't busy at this time, the servers were really friendly, and service was quick too. I'd recommend coming during happy hour because the food is more reasonably priced.
Been here twice. Correction came here two days in a row. Brunch was amazing both visit with bottomless mimosas. I had a sandwich was was delightful. They had comfy seating and out table was right by the window for people watching. I was I rush in my first visit so I had to go back the next day. Service was in point. Love the theme of the place and right below the hotel. This will be a regular spot to visit. What's. Discovery.
A small restaurant attached to the countries smallest Hilton! Love the vibes. My husband and I sat at the bar. Service was friendly and the food was delicious. The bulgogi lettuce wraps was my fav, the flavor was super good and meat was tender.
This Fusion restaurant is easily one of the best places I've ever been to.With quaint and relaxing music, it is an overall calming experience.Additionally, you can work or play a game of theirs (I forgot name of game).The service is great with great servers who are very friendly and try to do their job at the greatest.Finally the food is so good with various options that are infused with both Korean and American Heritage!
I'm not surprised to see this place closed. Years ago it was one of my favorites. At our last visit it was actually inedible, not good food at all. The service was also horrendous. We ended up leaving and walking across the street to eat elsewhere.

Searched for a restaurant in Oceanside to have lunch with a friend driving from Torrance. I went by Yelp reviews and a bit nervous about picking a restaurant I never heard of without a recommendation. It didn't look like what I expected but was greeted by a sweet server who was expecting us, The menu lacked items that were on their Yelp page but it did have what I was most interested in. We started with the #BulgogLettuceWraps. It did not disappoint #KaluaPorkFries Amazing with #KimchiAioli #GarlicAioli #CrispyOnions and a perfectly #FriedEggs definitely one of the best #FrenchFriesFusion The only miss was the #HawaiianPlate We picked chicken as the protein but we did ask for it to be fried and it was a bit dry and overcooked. Good slices of breast meat though. The macaroni salad seemed on the healthier side - light on the mayo but not bad. For dessert we had #Turon aka #BananaLumpia. Having turon many times this was the BEST Very crispy because it wasn't wrapped like an egg roll and the banana filling was very delicious it didn't need a side of caramel sauce but I love caramel so nice addition. Accompanied with #AmericanoCoffee a perfect ending, It does have a coffee shop vibe with switchboard decor in honor of the women who worked at this historical site. Service was fast and our server made great recommendations and was a delight throughout our meal.
We swung by here sometime in February on our way from LA to SD. Kiddo was getting hangry and couldn't wait to get to SD to eat. Interesting spot, small and located inside a hotel. There's only a couple tables in the restaurant but they were open to seating us in the hotel lobby, which worked out better for kiddo to sit and eat. We ended up ordering Kalua Pork Fries, Hawaiian Plate with bulgogi. Everything was tasty! The bulgogi was a little salty and the fries were fried crispy well. Service was great, even for us being separate from the actual restaurant, the servers check on us often and tended to us. The bathroom in also located in the lobby. Glad we stopped here to try this random spot.
2 stars for effort. I am highly disappointed. This is definitely not the same quality of food as it was about a year ago. I already knew coming here that the previous owner and chef were gone. We ordered the loco moco and the Hawaiian plate. Both dishes were nothing special. I could probably go to a chain, fast-food Hawaiian place down the road and get the same quality of food. I had the kalua pork w/the Hawaiian plate-it was a bit salty for my taste and spicy! Not sure why they decided to do that. However, let's talk about the macaroni salad-this was not your traditional Mac salad except that it was cold. It was basically cheese Mac w/curdled cheese and no flavor. Just as a reviewer (below), said the same exact thing I was thinking-the minute I looked at the food, I could tell something was different. It was definitely the taste and quality. I agree, it is really sad that they can't or won't, keep up with the past quality and customer service of this place. Good luck, I won't be back.
Nice spot for Valentine's Day dinner! They had a dinner for two menu but we ordered a La carte. We ordered the bulgolgi lettuce wraps (delicious) to share and the salmon plate for my entree. The bourbon salmon was good, but medium rare was slightly too undercooked for my preference. Service was good even with a full house, and so was my cocktail, The Local Vibe!
The concept of the Switchboard is super cool, with the interior completely decked out with switchboard-like decorations. The service here was good and our server was super nice and gave us a rundown of the specials they had for that day. Unfortunately, I wasn't really impressed with the food. We ordered the edamame, which was $8 for a tiny portion. And I didn't really love the sauce and salt it was covered in. We also tried the Salmon Tartare, and again, I wasn't a fan. Maybe next time, I'll have to try one of the entree items, since a bunch looked good. Would definitely return for the service!

I was really excited to try this place but the wait was excruciatingly long to order, receive the food and to pay. I ordered the duck and expected it to be juicy and flavorful but it wasnt. I give the fries a great review, both the regular and spicy. Ordered a cheeseburger for my girls to share but it was too dry and the meat had no flavor. Maybe next time will be better read more

Went here on a lunch date with my boyfriend on a Sunday afternoon. We came right before Happy Hour, but we were so hungry we couldn't wait haha. Apparently they just opened a couple of months ago, but MAN! I know this place is going to be busy because the food is SUPER GOOD. I had Auntie Pua's Sando which was probably the best sweet pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. It was paired with taro chips which were AMAZING actually. I don't usually like chips, but I definitely liked THESE. Oof pretty bomb. My boyfriend had the Korean Loco Moco- which of course I tried- and YUM! He never had loco moco, but you can say we were both pretty happy. Oh, they just recently added cocktails with Soju, & I had the first one on the menu (I forgot the name, but it had orange juice & coconut cream). It was delicious & super cute! I have a picture attached. We finished off with the Banana Lumpia which had a nice rum accent (almost like a banana's foster) with lime that complimented it pretty well. Everything was AWESOME including our waiter, Chris! Definitely coming back, & can't wait to try the rest of their menu! The chefs do an amazing job of making each dish unique and DEE-lish. Another Yelp Find!! We are staying in Carlsbad this weekend & was looking for something yummy & had patio seating (cuz of Covid). At the first glance of the lumpias, I was hooked, I needed those lumpias! We called to make reservations because most places have limited seating & I didn't want a long wait. Luckily when we got there, we didn't have to worry. We were immediately greeted and chose our spot to sit in the blocked off area of the sidewalk patio. What we got: Lobster Guacamole with Taro chips - the guac was good, but there were only a few small pieces of lobster. I loved the flavor of the guac, it was super chunky with lots of lime. The taro chips were a bit thin but could have been cooked more to be more crispy. Miso Mussels - OMG this dish is super delicious! The flavors of the butter & sake was yummy. The grilled toast was perfect to sop up the sauce. So glad I ordered this! Korean Loco Moco - was yummy! The portion was huge & delicious with fried rice, beef patty, fried egg & gochuchon sauce. The Switchboard Buger - looked spectacular! I didn't get to try it but our friend said it was very high quality & flavorful. Came with taro chips. Banana lumpias - were really good. It took a few bites to get to the great flavors. The honey sauce & lime zest brought out the flavor. My only complaint would be I wished they used a thinner wrap so it would be a crunch instead of the thickness of the skin was a bit chewy. We really enjoyed the patio area as it was comfortable & inviting. The service was great. The prices were very reasonable & big portions. Great service. Parking on the street. Overall, I would totally recommend this new spot. They've been open about 1 week now. read more

Stopped here Friday night on a whim. I'd just seen the restaurant pop up on my Instagram and told my husband about it. The guy working the counter was so friendly. He came outside to turn on the heater at our table and even dried the table off from the heavy fog. But the food!! Y'all, their macaroni salad is THE BEST we have ever eaten in our lives. It's so so good!! I had the plate with teriyaki chicken, white rice, and macaroni salad. Delicious! My husband had the bacon burger (I forget the exact name) and spicy fries. His burger was so flavorful! And the fries were crispy and perfect. We will be back again and again! I love supporting small businesses and even better, Veteran owned businesses! read more

we had a great experience here! such a cute and cozy restaurant and the service was great. we ordered the kalua pork fries, k-pop spicy fried chicken sando, orange chicken, classic hawaiian plate with teri chicken, and a classic hawaiian plate with kalbi short ribs. the portion sizes were great and everything was really delicious. the kalua pork fries were our favorite - super unique and flavorful. i also really enjoyed my plate with teriyaki chicken, only complaint is that the waitress memorized our orders so part of my order was incorrect (still really good though!) we will definitely be back to try more of the menu if we're in the area! read more

All I can say is that if you visit the Switchboard when you're in Oceanside, you won't be disappointed. The food here is phenomenal from the beef bulgogi lettuce wraps, Korean Loco Moco, Korean fried chicken and waffles, chicken sando, and the one that stole the show, the Bourbon Bacon Jam Burger...WOW. Our party definitely wants to go back to try the rest of the menu. This place is a gem and it's extremely reasonably priced too for the quality of food you're getting! read more

After a long hot hike, we found this Hawaiian place which has nice outdoor seating with umbrellas. It was a nice day to sit outside and the service was pretty fast. I got the Hawaiian plate and chose Kalua pork and cabbage with vegan fried rice and Mac salad. The presentation of the plate was aesthetically pleasing! There were slices of orange and a flower as extra garnish. The food itself was also delicious! The pork was tender with a little bit of spice. The Mac salad was not as creamy as expected but I liked their version of it which was a bit more tangy. My friend got the loco Moco and quite liked her dish as well. It was also nicely presented which added to the overall dining experience. Both dishes were tasty, and came with their own twist of Hawaiian food. They provided water in bottles and were quick to replace when we ran out. Everything is very clean and I would be interested to stop by whenever I'm in the area. read more

My husband and had not eaten out in months and decided to finally get out of the house and this is the restaurant we chose. I am so happy with our choice! I loved that the Switchboard has Hawaiian fare with Asian influences mixed in. If you've ever been to Hawaii, this is very authentic to the culture and food there. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich which came with taro chips, the Korean loco moco, and the spam Mac and cheese. The pork sandwich was amazing! I love the egg and the daikon on it. I would definitely order it again. The taro chips were so good and very surprising to me. They were almost like a tortilla chip, but better? You'll have to try it for yourself! The loco moco was amazing! My husband is a huge loco moco fan, and after being let down by some bad loco moco in Hawaii last year, he was so happy with this dish. He loved that they used fried rice for the rice. The spam Mac and cheese was really good, too. They recently added drinks to their menu and I'll have to say the garden party was my favorite one! Luckily beers are on special for happy hour, so my husband enjoyed a few of those. After an especially trying week, filled with some tragic events for our family, it was so nice to get out of the house and try this amazing new restaurant and have a server as friendly as Mason! Was recommended by a family member so I came by with my boyfriend to grab lunch. Seemed pretty busy for a weekday but luckily we were able to sit right away and ordered the Korean loco moco & Bulgogi + rice. My korean loco moco was delicious, the gochujang sauce was so so yummy and I'm craving it as I write this.. Unfortunately I live in seattle so I'll have to wait a while to get this :') The korean bulgogi was average, tasted more like a regular marinated meat dish, not too much of the korean bulgogi taste. Such a cute place! Not very big but my dad and I got lucky and got a table by the window as this other couple was leaving. The drink was yummy and so aesthetically pleasing. My dad had the loco moco and I had the shoyu poke bowl. The poke bowl was a little too salty, like it needed a little sweetness or maybe spicy Mayo to balance it but it was still good. Super refreshing! I really loved the vibe and saw several people working on their laptops. Totally will come back to do a little work when I need a change of scenery from my desk! read more

My only regret is not coming sooner! I didn't realize this gem existed. First of all the miso soup here is amazing! And they actually serve it piping hot as it should be. I had the fish and chips. (Halibut) I don't know how to describe how good these were. They're the opposite of greasy. The dipping sauces were flavorful & unique and the Asian seasoned fries were perfection. Oh and the slaw was yummy! I'm definitely ordering this again. We also had the Hawaiian plate with beef bulgogi. It tasted different than traditional bulgogi imo but was still delicious! (A little sweeter than I'm use too.) next time I'll order the bulgogi lettuce wraps. The ambiance is quaint with thoughtfully chosen furniture and décor. They have a small bar that you can sit at that looks pretty fun and cozy. Service was excellent which is getting harder and harder to find these days...Can't wait to go back! read more

We came here for lunch on Friday. As soon as we walked in we were greeted & seated. We decided to sit outside. I ordered the Shoyu Poke Bowl which I tried once before. It was delicious and fresh. I ordered a Big Fin cocktail took me back to Hawaii. The food and service was outstanding! Chris the bartender & waiter was attentive. I love coming here at any time of the day. Their menu has something for everyone. My favorite thing to get is their chickpea mash during breakfast time. Their house made "K-Pop" hot sauce is amazing. The Switchboard Restaurant has incredible potential. They're still in their soft opening phase, but I have a good feeling this place will be amazing once it's fully open. The staff is super excited about the owners dream. They were ecstatic to share what is to come when construction is complete! Awesome island style food spot with a cool patio right on PCH. I came here for takeout and was super impressed. To start, all of the staff was super friendly and attentive. They were all wearing masks and gloves and it was obvious that they took pride in making sure everything was safe. I appreciated it because we have a newborn and grandparents at home and wanted to make sure they stay healthy. The food was great. The loco moco was awesome with the fried rice and the homemade gravy was legit. We also had the katsu sandwich, pork sando, salad, and lumpia. It was a huge hit for the whole family. My wife and 2 year old loved the katsu and my favorite was the pork. Banana lumpia is a must try also. Service was fast and you get a lot food for the price. By the time I finished my beer at the bar I was on my way. Even after sitting in the car for 20 minutes after picking up the order the food was amazing. I'll be back for sure to try it fresh. 1st thing is the service here is unbelievably good. Chloe was the nicest server very welcoming and pleasant! A relaxing ambience. Food was so good and had its own unique flavors we just really loved it here. Dirty Dolphin Martini was bomb. Just get it if you like coffee with a tiny kick of liquor. Korean Fried Chicken and Waffles came with a lightly spicy syrup and the chicken (chicken thighs I think) was tender, juicy, crispy all in one. Didn't get this to have a delicious waffle but cleared the plate. Perfect for a light breakfast. Absolutely loved this place! read more

Amazing food, great service, good vibes overall. I have a new regular spot to go to now. The burger was immense, the beef they use is of a high quality, it was juicy and flavorful. The Kahlua fries are probably one of the best variations of fries with meat on top I've ever had. This place has some of the best pulled pork around, it's honestly the stand out for me. This week I happened upon Oceanside's The Switchboard Restaurant. It's an intimate spot on the main drag in Oceanside. One of my favorite small Southern California towns. I sat at the bar which is a nice spot in this tiny location. I noticed the kitchen staff was running the food. This was the first red flag. A red flag that would give rise to many more. The next things I noticed were a landslide of egregious infractions by the stocky Bartender. I think her name was Heidi. I would also mark the tall gentleman with man bun as an offender. Aside from being slow and having seemingly unprofessional relationships with local bar patrons, the drinks are unbalanced because they were not measured. I watched Heidi make my drink. It was an old fashion and it was overly boozy, I could tell before I took a sip. That's a pretty simple drink to screw up! Other offenses include petting a dog then making a drink without washing. I could see her eating in the back. I also watched her rebuff a diners request for a large party saying smugly " where we going to put you"? Then proceeded to trash talk this group loudly enough for me to hear it using words not fit for yelp.... I noticed overflow seating in the lobby in fact some folks were enjoying that space while I was there. I thought the guy with the man bun was the owner the way he spoke to the sorted group of so and sos at the bar. The vibe was very much "Bakersfield dive bar" with a bloviating bar owner. The bad bar service is most likely a symptom of poor hiring and management. Steer clear of the bar is how I opine in this case. read more

The restaurant is connected to a hotel and coffee shop. Inside is very cute and rustic feeling. We ordered a side order of kimchi, Korean Bulgogi lettuce wraps, and chicken waffle. The Kimchi was extremely fresh with the right amount of spice. I wasn't a fan of the Korean bulgogi. To me it was over powerful with the spices. My husband on the other hand finished his dish but the portion was on the smaller side. Our server was Kaylee! She is amazing and very attentive. read more

This low key patio drew us in. The Kimchi Bloody Mary was right on. The food was a wonderful mixture of sweet yummy goodness as we ordered the French toast and the breakfast sandwich on a Hawaiian roll with avocado with the perfect sidekick. . Our server was adorable, kind and very attentive. Everything was so good and captivating that we didn't get any pictures. The empty drinks tell a story themselves. First visit to the Switchboard after being told about it from my friend. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Atmosphere is so cozy and neat. Such a perfect place for a relaxing time on your own or with your friends. Highly recommend for some of exotic food they offer. They have a full bar ready for you too!! I meet up with a couple friends here. One of my friends lives in San Diego so we decided to meet half way for dinner. I ended up choosing this place because Hawaiian food sounded good. We had a reservation for dinner and were seated right away. We were seated by the bar. This place is super tiny, but I loved the atmosphere, kinda reminded me of a speakeasy. I didn't get any alcohol since I drove here, but I did get one of their non-alcoholic drinks. It was fruity and had some smooth and creamy coconut milk in it. It was garnished with a pretty flower, in fact every dish was garnished with a very colorful flower. Very Hawaiian. Our waiter was very nice and answered all of our questions. For my entree I got the Kalua pork with cabbage. It also came with rice and Hawaiian macaroni salad. The Kalua pork was perfectly tender and seasoned perfectly, it even had a slight kick or spice that I enjoyed. The mac salad was creamy and delicious. There was a generous portion of rice that went great with the Kalua pork. To end the night we ordered two desserts. The Turon, which is like a sweet banana eggroll and the panna cotta. I loved that they had Turon, it is a Filipino dish and one of my favorite Filipino desserts. They really did it justice. It was crispy and sweet and the banana was super soft and warm on the inside. The only thing was that they garnished it with some black salt which kinda overpowered everything if you got a big rock of it in your mouth. The panna cotta was a passion fruit panna cotta I believe. It had a creamy texture and the acid of the fruit really cut through that cream. It was a great dinner and if I'm every in Oceanside again this place will be my go to. read more

It was on the menu when we went within the last month. This may have been the place that put a time limit of 2 hours though. I can't remember
