Cute, clean, quiet little place and super friendly (but not overwhelming) staff. Everything we tried was delicious and unique. Portion was generous enough for me to get stuffed after a cup of soup and an entree. Plating was very nice too, and it is quite obvious the food is done with much faith and a conscience, for example, the gluten free and dairy free dishes are clearly marked; flowers displayed on the tables are freshly picked, and it seems you can expect something different each time. Although they seem to have only 2 people working there (1 chef, 1 girl as both the server and cashier), it didn't take anything longer than 10-15 min to have our dishes ready. I was amazed by how efficiently this place ran. Overall it was a very fine dining experience compared to what we paid. Can't wait to come back. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Athens. I've had the Shrimp and Grits and the Crab Stuffed Blackened Salmon, and both were bursting with flavor, with particular attention paid to highlighting the taste of the seafood (as opposed to just throwing in a bunch of spices). Yet despite the high quality food, it is a very laid back atmosphere. I really wanted to love this place.The restaurant itself is sleek, contemporary and has a great vibe. The service and staff were terrific. But unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. I had the Gorgonzola Wonton Caesar Salad and the Tomato Bisque. While both dishes were beautifully plated, the flavor just didn't impress me. The wontons were nearly flavorless and the caramelized onions took over the salad. The soup was lukewarm from the first spoonful and had was oddly sweet. I have a severe seafood allergy and this restaurant serves some seafood. I told the owner and she said that I would be charged extra if they had to clean the pans and utensils. I ordered a salad without the chicken that I wanted and it was okay, but I couldn't believe they would charge me extra for a life threatening allergy. I guess there's a first time for everything. My wife went with a pasta dish recommended by the owner and was very pleased. I had the steak sandwich and couldn't have been happier. The portions were satisfying without being obscene. The food was prepared perfectly. The owners were welcoming and happy, even at the end of lunch service. We took a dessert to go, and that little cheesecake jar brought a big grin later in the day. Food is inspired by a mix of American, European, and Korean styles. Very clean and very nice inside. Great service and you can tell the ingredients are good and fresh. A small space (seating for 34 or so) with a not so easy to see marquee, but worth your trouble to find. The sign out front says "A New American Bistro". The small space is inviting and charming. Fresh flowers adorned the butcher-block table tops. Black wooden chairs are mixed with modern metal chairs. A larger black wooden table for eight had metal stools that were red, adding a splash of color against a wall made of reclaimed wood. Very cool. Another wall was a large "chalkboard" which held the menu. The menu, divided into spoons (soups), forks (salads), handhelds (burgers, wraps, sandwiches), and knives (main dishes) also has starters, pastas, and desserts. It's not "all encompassing", but, I feel offers a little something for everyone. It's refreshing not to have to page through a menu with dozens and dozens of items trying to decide. Judging on what we ate, this menu allows the chef to concentrate on delivering excellence in each dish! My wife and I dined on a quiet Saturday night around 6pm. There were about six other guests dining when we arrived. A pleasant young lady served as "front-of-house" greeting/seating customers, explaining the menu and specials, taking orders, running food, and re-filling drinks. She handled all of this deftly. Behind the counter and visible from the dining area, the chef was surrounded by stainless steel prep areas, a grill, an oven and such. My wife just wanted a salad for dinner and was curious about the Yuzu Miso Salad. It's ingredients were to her liking, but she wasn't sure about the "Yuzu-miso" vinaigrette. Our "do it all" front of house hostess was quick to offer a taste of the dressing or to offer a substitute. One taste of that dressing and my wife wanted the recipe. Her salad was fresh and delicious. She opted to top it with portobello mushrooms, but you could choose grilled chicken, shrimp, tofu, mahi-mahi, or steak. I had a cup of tomato bisque soup which was good (I would have rather have had fresh basil vs dried) and the "southern chik'n makeover". The menu promises a "spinach and brie stuffed chicken breast"... but what I received was more a cross section of a stuffed chicken breast (a la "jelly roll"). While the portion size was not what I expected, the execution was done very well. The dish was tasty and the accompanying squash was cooked perfectly. The sauce it was nestled in was delicious. The specials that night were a trout amandine as well as a pan-fried grouper dish. A nearby diner had the trout. Wow! It looked delicious (maybe I should have tried the special) - she ate every bite. Most meals were in the $8-$10 range. The specials were $15-$18 (but appeared to be worth every penny). We will certainly come back on our next journey to Athens. read more
