CHURROS CHURROS CHURROS!!!! GET THE CHURROS!!! The best ones I have ever had. I would come back and wait in line for the churros alone. They were sooooooooo good. I'm very surprised that this place doesn't have a higher rating! I thought it was great. I got the carne asada and al pastor tacos. They were really yummy and flavourful with all of the creamy sauce options that they have. I really enjoyed them and will be coming back for sure. I feel like the sauce really made the tacos. The pineapple in the al pastor is so yummy! I'm giving it a 4 star because my tacos were a little bit too room temperature for me. I wouldn't even say that they were warm really which was odd. The flavors overcame it so I didn't mind as much but like come on make your food hot when it's served!! The tables are kinda scattered and dirty. No one really wipes them down. And the salsa bar was out of a few salsas. If they get a few more people working here I'm sure it will be a 5-star! read more

My first experience with The Taco Stand was their location in Old Towne Orange, when I worked in Orange and my broworkers and I would go every week. It was one of our quick and affordable lunch spots. I was so happy to hear that The Taco Stand opened a closer location to me in Costa Mesa. My favorite protein is their Al Pastor, so I got an Al Pastor Taco ($3.49). I also ordered a Carne Asada Taco ($3.95) and some Churros ($3.50) for dessert. I actually wanted to order a horchata too, but apparently this location doesn't have horchata. The experience felt immediately incomplete. So be warned, if you come during their lunch rush they can be slow. I intentionally came right before the lunch rush so it wasn't too bad. While waiting for my food, I went to their sauce bar to get my usuals: mild salsa, salsa verde, cilantro salsa, and pickled red onions. When my order was ready, I was surprised to see my tacos already sauced and heavily sauced too. This is different than the location in Orange. It was nice but next time I'll tell them not to sauce it because I want to sauce it myself with the flavor combinations I enjoy. The Al Pastor was a bit greasy today, but still delicious. Carne Asada was solid. The churros were not ready until I finished my tacos. It tasted okay, but they gave me a side of condense milk, which I typically like, but together it was too too sweet. I think the churros on its' own is sufficient. So I enjoyed my meal and it was still pretty affordable for a lunch in this economy, but I prefer the Orange location over this one. read more

I expected it to be packed with a long wait time, but Luis who was the cashier working at the time was extremely helpful and he made sure that my order was expedited. Soooo good!! We came about 2 years ago and I don't remember being too impressed, but last night we went back with my parents and husband and all of us left raving about it. My parents had the fish tacos, I have the California burrito and my husband has the asada fries. All of us said we would come back in a heartbeat. David and all the staff made you feel like you are taken care of and the service was great! Although it small, the environment is cute and felt like I was in Mexico. Love it! Very slow you have to wait an hour just to get a couple tacos at lunchtime. They're always backed up and never can keep up. The food quality is not the same and they don't even carry habanero hot sauce anymore, which is why I like this place. read more

Came here during my lunch break and it was PACKED with people. It's a smaller unit in the camp that offers some bang for your buck. First impression, it was extremely hectic inside. There's a line out the door, a line for the salsa bar, the lady behind the counter is yelling out for names, and loud music in the background. A bit overwhelming. We ordered 20 minutes prior to coming but still had to wait in the order line although they had a pick up area, which was confusing. All the salsas are self serve which is a plus. I got the carne asada fries and they were delicious. And only $10?! Definitely worth dealing with the hectic environment. This is a good place to get takeout. read more

I heard this is the place for authentic street tacos. Like everyone else, I went into it excited remembering my visits to Mexico and how good the local street food is there. The place is somewhat clean, modern, with the menu on the wall as you order. They do make tortillas and fresh churros. The tables were dirty, the chairs were the cheapest you can imagine, and many were missing the bottom legs. Sounds odd since this is a new place? I tried one of every taco and have one word to say: bland. The steak and cilantro taco is too simplistic and bland. The Al Pastor with guacamole is the best taco, at least the meat is soft and tender. The chicken taco had no cheese at all. This place is over rated and works for those who do not demand seasoning, lettuce, pico, and cheese. I heard the tortillas were hand made? Hecho a Mano? They don't taste hand made? No seasoning? bland as can be. The ones in the market taste better. Just okay for me. read more

My favorite lunch spot! As a vegetarian I literally eat here every day. The mushroom taco is perfect sized for me and I always leave full. The crew is helpful and kind. Finally gave this place a try after seeing its hype, but I would give this place 3.5/5 stars on Yelp if it was possible. I ordered the Carne Asada Fries and replaced the asada with Al Pastor. My boyfriend got one Al Pastor and one Carne Asada taco. My fries were underwhelming compared to other places I've tried fries from. The meat was delicious, but the cheese just tasted like they took Kraft American single slice cheese and placed them on top to melt. There was a station with different salsas and sauces to use to use for your meal and I had to pour a good amount of Salsa Verde and Onions to made the fries tastier. On the other hand, my boyfriend enjoyed his tacos and the meat. We probably won't return and will stick to our OG street tacos to be safe. Service was quick on a less busy day. read more

This Taco Stand just opened up a few months ago, so most of the negative reviews are from process deficiencies that come from a new location/restaurant. BE WARNED -- you will have to wait 20 min+ for your food if you come during busy hours. There's something about this location that hasn't fully figured out how to be super efficient when making food; maybe it's because the restaurant itself is much smaller than the Orange location and the sheer volume of orders that comes into the restaurant. Their online ordering system makes orders almost backlog and creates significant delays for the people that are dining in. I'm sure they will figure it out. However, even with inefficiencies and waiting a long time for our food, the integrity of the food is still there. The burritos are top notch and filled with great meat and ingredients. Also, parking sucks. That's just a fact about being at The Camp. There's a ton of restaurants and very little parking. Be warned. read more
