I grabbed lunch with my wife at the Taco Stand in Old Town Orange on Christmas Eve. While the building wasn't large, there was a variety of seating - a few small tables, countertop with high seats, and a long table in the center of the building that was suited for big parties of 10 or more. I got a carne asada burrito, a baja taco, carne asada fries, and their corn on the cob. They were out of cotija cheese for the corn on the cob but I don't think it impacted the experience too much. Standout items were definitely the carne asada fries. The guacamole was fresh and the fries were crisp on the outside and flakey potato on the inside. The carne asada burrito was stuffed with big chunks of steak and I also got a large piece of fried tilapia for the baja taco. Overall, I enjoyed my experience of the Taco Stand. It's definitely a casual hangout spot with friends. I would definitely do the fries again and maybe try the California burrito or some more tacos and the salsa bar. read more

While in Anaheim, I was thrilled to discover that The Taco Stand--our beloved gem from La Jolla--had set up shop here. Unfortunately, the magic didn't make the move. The Anaheim location felt like the off-brand sequel to a cult classic: same name, none of the charm. The space was noticeably unkempt, tables strewn with the remnants of previous guests' meals. We played musical chairs trying to find one that wasn't sticky or stacked with trays. The staff seemed overwhelmed or perhaps freshly minted--either way, the ordering process was an exercise in patience. And then came the burritos: we ordered three carne asada, yet each arrived looking like a different species of wrap. Inconsistency was the only thing they had in common. In short, if you're a fan of the original, proceed with caution. This Taco Stand felt more like a taco stumble. read more

Came with friends for a quick bite. Had the steak and chicken tacos- both were delicious. They gave a salsa bar for some add ons. Decent sized burritos and fries. Not enough seating so you may eat while standing or take it to go. Average pricing. read more

Quick Summary A decent taco spot, but fell below my expectations of the Taco Stand. The meat and fries were great, but I was really disappointed by the tortillas. Street and lot parking available here and there around DT Orange. Food- 3.5 stars Ordered the carne asada fries, and a mix of shrimp, carne asada, pastor tacos and tacos volcan. The meat was delicious and juicy. The fries had the standard Taco Standard crunch that I've grown quite fond of. The major disappointment came with the tortillas. I always enjoyed the fresh and pillowy homemade tortillas made at the SD locations, and was disappointed when my tacos at this location had a cold and rough tortilla. Service- 5 stars They got the food out pretty quickly. Pretty easy fast casual ordering like all their locations Bottom Line The fries and the meats were good and comparable to the other locations. If you want consistently delicious tacos to hit the spot this is the place! My fiancé and I come here after every beach day. First visited the Laguna location, and we were not disappointed visiting the orange location. We park in the structure just down the street and walk over, no need to circle the area to find parking. It is almost always busy when we visit in the afternoons, so the tables might be a little dirty. There are only about 4 tables and some bar stool seating so it may be hard to find a place to sit when it's busy. I recommend the baja tacos, the asada, and the California burrito. The guac is good but they recently switched their chips so we don't order it as much. The decor of the place is pretty laid back and definitely gave the vibe of taco places I've been to in Mexico! read more

This place is great. Fresh tortillas made almost to order. High quality ingredients. An actual spit roaster for the Al Pastor. The food tastes bougie but the decor is chic Tijuana lol. Good Salsa. Corn on the cob and glass bottle beverages all add to the charm but there's also the standard fountain drinks if you're a refill kind of guy/gal. Also they have fries. Instantly walked into what felt like a taqueria in Mexico in the middle of Old Town Orange!! You'll be greeted and prompted to order @ the door, menu is right above. Música latina is playing in the background, and the place is full of lively conversations, kitchen noises and loads of good vibes. Walls are decorated with hand made paintings and lights and flags!! Food taste like Mexico!! Tortillas are hand made, meat and veggies are seasoned to perfection! Salsa bar near the fountain drinks in the back area. I have to give Hector a shout out! Wife and I had Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Grilled Pescado, Sonora tacos, and the Mar Y Tierra fries. It was too much food! Wish I tried a california burrito instead of getting the fries + 2nd taco. I love flour tortilla so the Sonora was perfect. It was thin but held the contents of the taco just enough, and comes with guacamole. Al pastor taco, even though corn, was also very solid. The Mar Y Tierra fries were delicious too! But honestly I've had a lot of fries lately, so I got sick of it pretty quickly. But really I kinda wanted them so that I could try their shrimp, which was cooked and seasoned well. I was hoping they were going to be more like skinny McDonalds fries. Probably would have been able to finish the food if they were. These fries were a little too airy and starchy. I didn't realize this location was right by some bars and stuff, so seating was very cramped and it was filled with a bunch of bar-goers. Maybe I should have drove to Costa Mesa, but at least we were able to quickly get a seat. Solid overall, would eat again! read more

I'd had multiple people rave about The Taco Stand, so I finally had to check it out for myself! Located in Old Town Orange, I honestly can't believe I hadn't been before. It's a super cute spot where you order at the counter and wait for your name to be called when your food's ready. We went on a Wednesday night and the place was busy. Seating is limited, so a lot of people were standing around waiting for tables to open up. We ordered a variety of tacos, and the standouts for me were the al pastor, grilled fish, and spicy shrimp. I love that the tacos come loaded with onions, cilantro, and guacamole. The fish ones are topped with cabbage and avocado. At $4-$5 a taco, it's not your typical cheap street taco, but the quality and flavor justify the price. Definitely worth the hype! read more

Not just a taco stand, but an amazing racoon stand! When you first walk in, you're introduced to a simple menu, but with a bite! Easy to order from tacos, burritos and other treats. Decided to try this place randomly because it was recommended. The line is usually always long from what I could tell. The challenge is the seating because there's not many places to sit with how busy they gets. It makes it hard to enjoy a meal inside. I got a Carne Asada taco and El Pastore taco, a corn on the cob and the churros. Let me tell you those churros were delicious. They had a nice crunch on the outside with a soft on the inside and the little dipping sauce was really good. The tacos were a decent size, nice and filling. The corn on the cob was mouthwatering and delicious. The walls were nice and colorful. They had the cutest little napkin holders and in the very back by the drink dispenser there was a little bar that hot sauce and salsa bar. read more

Not the best pic, we were hungry and jumped right in. We got a carne asada burrito and cheese quesadilla. They hand make their tortillas. There's a salsa bar. And there's churros (not pictured but they were goood). Ernesto who helped us was friendly and had a nice attitude which I appreciate. First time here and we would come again. We heard of this place by word of mouth. They have other locations which I've heard are also good so definitely check them out! read more

Thank you for your inquiry. Our tortillas are 100% gluten free. As are the chips, however the chips are fried in the same fryer that we fry our fries which are battered. So the chips do have some cross contamination with gluten products.

My client wanted to tour the cellar KI HANAL b/c I raved about it so much, but it was full of deliveries/boxes. She is planning to have a family event there.

Regular drinks were extremely tax as my friend's latte horchata was $12 and it was not good at all. The food was not bad, but the upcharging and skimpy portions definitely put this place on my "no" list. HOWEVER, if they just make minor tweaks with the volume, pricing, and food quantity it definitely could be a great place to go! Now, I first encountered this establishment at their La Jolla location, where the queue was so impressively long that I initially assumed free gold bars were being distributed. But no--it was simply people waiting patiently for exceptionally good food. Quite reassuring, actually. The food here is fresh, authentic, and genuinely satisfying in a way that makes one pause mid-bite and think, "Ah yes, this is why humanity persists." So imagine my joy upon discovering there was a location right here in Orange. It felt rather like finding an extra curly fry at the bottom of the bag, only significantly more meaningful. I must also commend Flor and the staff, who were excellent throughout the visit. Kind, attentive, and wonderfully accommodating--precisely the sort of people one hopes to encounter when hunger has begun clouding rational thought. The dining area itself is spacious and impressively clean, which I always appreciate, as sticky tables tend to make me nervous. And the salsa assortment... oh dear. Where does one begin? I haven't tried all items. Most have a a great taste. I try to ask without condiments and herbs, since the meats tend to have a dense or juicy flavor. For the price and size, it feels duable for a special occasion (like once a week...hahaha). Their salsa bar is small but has great taste as well. You can see them making tortillas and cooking food right from where you sit (or stand). It can get very busy and the walking or sitting areas sometimes are not ample enough. Many students, clubs, workers and such will take the tables and chairs to make larger sitting areas for themselves. It can get loud in there. There is a smell on their bathroom and food (that may stay on the nose and clothes). Sometimes tables and other things will stay dirty during the time I'm consuming food there. People may have to clean up the table they decide to sit at. Service is friendly but can feel a bit rushed when ordering. Yet the orders do take time to be prepared and served. THE best spot if you're hankering for the best Mexican food money can buy. Hand made tortillas...and not like the ones from cafe rio (not that there is anything with that but...) I waited an hour and asked the guy multiple times if my order was ready or even somewhat in process. For reference my friend who ordered right before me got their food within 15 minutes. After waiting in front of the pickup station for 20 minutes I asked again if my order was even on their queue. I got attitude and then he finally looks in a white to go bag. He takes a brown bag, which my burrito was in, out of the white bag and said he called it multiple times. I've been coming here for years and have always loved this place, but I'm disappointed to say it's gone downhill recently. On two visits within a week, the cleanliness was concerning--overflowing trash, no paper towels, and no toilet paper in the restrooms. It's disheartening to see this change in a spot that used to be my favorite. The service also left a lot to be desired. I asked multiple times for pico de gallo, and while they assured me someone would refill it, it never happened. To top it off, the food was cold by the time we got it. The meat is tender, juicy, and well seasoned. I also like that the smaller size makes it easy to order a few different fillings instead of committing to one giant burrito. There's not much spice, but take a bite out of the serrano and you're all set. This is more of a grab-and-go spot than somewhere you're going to sit down and have a leisurely meal, though there is some seating available. I do have to rant a little about the Michelin confusion because I genuinely don't understand how people keep calling this place "Michelin-starred." A Michelin Star is the prestigious award people associate with the Michelin Guide. A Bib Gourmand award from Michelin is not a star, and the distinction is pretty straightforward. Burritos La Palma has received the latter, recognizing great food at a reasonable price, which is certainly worth celebrating, but saying it has a Michelin Star is simply incorrect and can set unrealistic expectations. Overall, I can see why Burritos La Palma has developed such a following. The burritos are flavorful, the handmade tortillas are excellent, and the compact size lets you sample several fillings. It's definitely worth trying, just go in knowing you're getting a few small, very flavorful burritos rather than one massive meal.

I love that they offer Buche and Tripas as these are not commonly offered. I also highly recommend the Cabeza and Al Pastor here. At $2 per taco, it is a steal for the quality and quantity. I also love that they have grilled jalapeños and onions at the self-serve station. I wasn't a fan of their salsas, but I am happy with the radishes and lime wedges available at the self-serve station to go with my tacos. Whenever I'm in the area, I'm definitely stopping by here for tacos!

All were good, the 4 stars is adding into account the cheap prices and good agua fresca. So the tacos are $2 and some change for their regular street tacos and they do not skimp on their meat. The horchata and Agua de Jamaica was 4 stars good. Not too sweet. They have a huge salsa bar with grilled onions, cilantro, a bunch or sauces, and roasted jalapeños. Totally worth the money and it WILL fill you up.

Yesterday was what you could call a double flagrant foul. I called in an order for 2 burritos. I arrived a few minutes later, paid and took my receipt with me to a seat near the counter. So finally 40 minutes after I placed my order it's the point of which I decided to go up and inquire and of course there it was sitting there, and I told them that I have been sitting at a nearby chair, not very far from the counter and caused me to wonder OK maybe they called my number and I didn't answer so they wonder why a single person has been sitting there near the counter with no food for half an hour I don't know anyway after 40 minutes. I finally got the food and left. You would hope that would be the end of the story but, alas, my sorry tale is not yet finished. As it turned out my practice of eating the Monarch Burrito in thirds turned out to be potentially injury, preventing as I took my third of a burrito and settled down to eat as I opened up my third of a burrito something odd was sticking out. It had an odd color though. Maybe it was a stray pepper or an onion, but it turned out that... There was a METAL WIRE inside a red plastic covering. Happy the wire had no chance to cut the inside of my mouth before I discovered if. I'll spare the boring details of the next several minutes, what's the price to say while I did eventually get my money back for this particular burrito it was a parent that here like many other small local businesses employees are not empowered to truly make things right and make an effort to truly apologize and went back loyalty of the customer. I understand it was an intentional and certainly a very rare occurrence, but despite that I feel that it should be a lesson for businesses and no matter how large or small but when these things happen, it really helps to treat a customer right because bad news always spreads quicker than good news and it's always harder to get a new customer than to retain a longtime existing customer. Am I going to completely ditch Cali Tacos? No, probably not as I have other family members who like this place even more than I do, but I just hope that someone's listening.
