Stopped here for a quick lunch/dinner on the way home to Cleveland OH - we both ordered the fried flounder basket - my side was the clam chowder - the husband opted for the lobster bisque - both were delicious and served nice and hot - the way soup should be - we also had the crab bites appetizer which was like having little crab cakes - the flounder was fried properly but the 3 pieces were too much to finish - we ended up paying near 40 bucks but took home flounder and crab bites so 2nd meal .. so the prices I feel are fair. read more

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for the first time - it was so delicious! Service was awesome and food was amazing. My husband and I ordered the "Juicy Special" boil with the Tangy house seasoning (all the seasoning's combined) - we also added scallops and extra corn cobs. The restaurant has a great menu with lots of options for crab boil components. We chose the snow crab boil with Old Bay seasoning. The boil was tasty but the crab and corn were a bit over done. They also serve blue crab in season, which we unfortunately missed, but will be back for. The star of our meal was the fried oyster basket with sweet potato fries! So this is just a little hole in the wall type restaurant but when you walk in, WOW!! The atmosphere, the environment and especially the people is great. First time here and just waking in the wife and I have a great impression. I ordered the Crab roll Po' Boy and my wife ordered the Fried Oysters. We also ordered the Crab Rangoons. The Crab Rangoons were hot and had such a delicious taste of Crab in them. The Po' Boy was stuffed full of Crab and the fried Oysters were decent. They were small but all of the food was good. The soft shell crab was amazing! I'm from the south and it is as good or better than any I've ever had along the coast of SC or GA. And a must try, no matter what you get for a main dish, are the Garlic Butter noodles. They sound real simple, and like nothing much to them, which there isn't but idk why they are delicious and highly addictive. Came here on a Saturday to try out this new seafood boil place. I have been to many in California and this one was on par with those. The prices were a little bit cheaper than California which was nice. The seafood was fresh, the appetizers were delicious and hot, and the drink menu was fantastic. We started with crabmeat fries and cheese curds. The fries were wonderful and slightly creamy sweet. Originally we thought the fries would be made out of crab meat but the topping was delicious. The cheese curds had an amazing pull and tasted great. Then when the boil came it was time to go all in. The shrimp, crab and all the sides were piping hot and we could not stop eating. One critique I had , that did not diminish the experience, would be the sauce could be a little thicker and spicier. Also I was confused that we asked for head on shrimp, but they just had the shell-on and not the actually heads they do in California. Next time I will definitely try the fire sauce instead of the spicy. So glad this place has opened near us. Cannot wait to comeback! read more

Very disappointing experience. Visiting from out of town and saw good reviews so decided to stop. Called from the parking lot and requested table for two. We were told 30-40 minutes. At 35 minutes I called to see how much longer it would be, and was told there were 7 tables(?!) ahead of us. I explained that we were told 30-40 minutes and was given a lame excuse (at least he apologized). At this point we decided to go to Denny's, where we finished our meal in 35 minutes. So at 70 minutes we still had not received a call. So, being a naturally inquisitive person, I called again to see how we were progressing. They said our table was now available; they had just called and got voice mail. I realize mistakes are made, but don't lie about calling when you obviously didn't. With a seafood boil, the seafood is the star of the show. Here you get an overseasoned mess served in a giant trash bag that you have to break open yourself. Ask for butter and they tell you it is already there - in the bottom of the bag! Have a side delivered and you get this oily mess that has 0 flavor. I am positive that is not butter. It looks like they built this restaurant on cutting corners. It is easily the worst seafood restaurant I have ever tried. I am blown away that this place gets the reviews it does. My wife and I usually stop at the Cracker Barrel for dinner when traveling through Lansing, but they had a forty-five-minute wait for tables. I'd seen the Tangy Crab sign at the exit, so we went there and were immediately seated. We finally figured out the menu and ordered a seafood boil, and we were delighted with it. We've been back a couple of other times, and the service is hit or miss, however, the food and beer are always outstanding. This restaurant was a letdown. It's incredibly messy to eat, you basically eat with your hands. They only give you a fork, no knives to cut the food. The meal is swimming in a half inch of butter and comes served in a huge plastic bag. I don't get why they can't boil it and just serve on a plate. Just felt gross to eat this way, having your food dumped into a big metal tin thing. The portions are small and very expensive, we spent $70 and left hungry. The scallops and shrimp were tasty. The lobster was not flavorful. Crab legs were fine. The sides are not good, again swimming in a huge pool of butter. The atmosphere feels cheap & cheesy. On the plus side, our waitress was super sweet & nice, she did a great job. We were excited for a good seafood place, this was disappointing. We probably won't be back. read more

I have been here a couple of times now. Once when they first opened and a couple of weeks ago. The service was fantastic. The options for a crab boil were perfect. I was skeptical about the addition of noodles to my crab boil but I ended up liking these better than the corn or potatoes. The corn on the cob is not crisp, my kids didn't like that part. We went here because of all the high reviews. I won't let reviews influence my decision again. Not impressed. Food was mediocre at best. I was missing an item I had ordered. I informed the waitress and she went to find out where it is. 10 minutes later the missing item arrived just as I was finishing the rest. We had a nice time at Tangy Crab for a friends birthday earlier this month. We dined on Mother's Day and were quoted a 2.5 hour wait for a table so we got on the list and drove down the street to another restaurant to grab some appetizers while we waited. We were called to be seated after about 2 hours of waiting which was a nice surprise since we were expecting to wait 30 more minutes. We have dined at a seafood boil restaurant before and knew what to expect from pricing to portions, but if you have not dined at a spot like this before, be prepared to spend ~$50+ per person on average. I built my own boil with one claw of crab legs and one pound of scallops. It also came with potatoes and corn. This was plenty for me and I even had leftovers, but some of the folks with bigger appetites added broccoli or extra potatoes/corn to their meals. I chose the lightest sauce because I am watching my calories, but I did try some of my significant other's Tangy Special Blend and it was really good! Our server was great and the atmosphere was inviting which added to the overall positive experience. Definitely worth a try if you like seafood, and this is a great spot for special occasions, too! read more

I have ordered to go several times the first time I had it, mind blowing, the third time I traveled to my home over an hour away to find that my order was completely wrong. They made it right for the most part, but to get them to do it was a bit labor intensive. It was too expensive to just let go, though, and what I ordered vs what I got was definitely unequal price-wise and incredibly spicy (ie inedible for me). The snow-crab quality seems to get worse each time I go, and as much as I loved it the first time. I'm growing reluctant to go back. The crab Rangoons were also amazing in the beginning, but they've seen a steady decline as well. The fried shrimp my husband gets is really quite good but always a tad under seasoned. read more
