My wife and I ate here and quite enjoyed ourselves. We had a reservation and were seated a few minutes after arriving. Our waitress, Mack, was super nice and knowledgeable. The place was quite busy, service seemed a bit slow, at no fault of our server. Every time she walked by our table her hands were literally full and she was clearly on a mission. Wish we could say the same for all the employees. My wife did a wine flight with whites and I with reds. We started with the small charcuterie board which was quite good. I decided to try the Caesar salad. Their version comes with local butter lettuce and unfortunately left me disappointed. For entrees my wife got the flatbread and I had the short rib special! The meat was super tender and delicious. For dessert we got the toffee and that might of been the highlight of the night. It's sourced from the Big Island and just melted in your mouth. Food was fabulous. Adult beverages awesome. Service was great. Ambiance was perfection. Only problem was a snarky incredibly disrespectful waitress. Angry that she could not force us to sit outside she said we could sit inside but would have to leave before seven! This conversation is happening at 5 pm! We assured her we would not be there at 7. We were there celebrating a birthday and we refused to get drawn into her rudeness. We ate our meal as quickly as it was served but She was openly exasperated when we asked about dessert. Okay, we have found our favorite evening restaurant on Kauai. Really! You would expect excellent wines, of course - and this place has them. You would anticipate that the "bites" would be delicious - and they are. What you don't expect is the friendly, over-the-top service that you'll enjoy! These people treat you like "Ohana" - like family, not like visitors to the island. That doesn't happen at the more well-known places that you might try! Family owned and operated so there was a warm and inviting aspect to the place. Beautiful and rustic atmosphere upon arrival. Very caring and welcoming staff. Wine variety was vast and we enjoyed every 5oz tasting. However, there was no guidance on "wine-pairings" which was supposed to be one of the motives behind their restaurant. We enjoyed the carpaccio and the fresh dill in the tasting room salad. The French onion soup was tasty, but nothing special. We both got the short-rib after learning one of their fish specials had run out (scallops) at our 7:30 reservation. The short-rib was flavorful but again, nothing unique. Our favorite was the dessert, which was the panna cotta. Overall, very inviting atmosphere, tasty food, and an interesting wine selection. I'd recommend if you're in the Lihue/Koloa area! read more

I took my family of four tonight for dinner. It was such a disappointing experience. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our food. Really!?!?! The couple that was sat down before us, ate and left as our dinner was being served. The waitress tried her best but couldn't move the chef along. Why spend several hundred dollars for this kind of service? The waitress could have also made some accommodations by bringing additional appetizers on the house. We had to mention to the waitress that the food was taking a long time. She should have acknowledged it and apologized. In addition, when our food was finally coming out and my wife asked about the final plate, the woman who brought out our food (not the waitress) rudely and loudly said, "The food is going to be trickling out!" So classless. Go elsewhere if you don't want to wait over an hour for food. read more

We ate dinner here tonight and it has been our best dinner so far! We've been on the island a little over a week and have tried a few other restaurants that were highly rated and this beat them by a mile. We had the charcuterie board, several of the small plates, the catch of the day and the short ribs. After dinner we ordered the mango panna cotta and the toffee. My son (who said he wasn't interested in any of the dessert options) kept taking pieces of the toffee off my husband's plate and the panna cotta was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. There is nothing that we tried that I wouldn't order again. All of the flavors were complex and had just the right amount of seasoning. Thanks for a great meal! read more

This small, family operated restaurant and wine shop is unique for not only its thorough wine offerings ( good luck finding that anywhere else on the island paired with the price points) but it's manageable menu and quality of food, service and ambiance. It's a charmer and will be one of the best local dining experiences you will have on the island. Your added bonus is the adjoining well rounded wine/ spirits shop which far surpasses anything at any of the supermarkets and as well is very fairly priced. Even if you are not able to secure a reservation do yourself a treat and visit their wine shop which also has other food items to compliment your wine picks- always good to have these backs your hotel room so you can enjoy at your leisure and at prices that won't take a ding on the Hawaiian mood! read more

Based on the various reviews we saw on Yelp, the decision was made to try The Tasting Room during the 2022 trip to Kauai. Very disappointing. The food was okay, nothing special. When we made the reservations we were not told that the time you could spend at your table was based on the number of people in your party. We should've gotten two hours for a party of three, but we were reduced to 1.5 hours. The server was rude when asked if two of our group could get another glass of wine. She looked at her watch and told us no, we had to leave because they needed the table. I understand that the pandemic has placed challenges on small restaurants and their employees, but it's not excuse for poor customer service. We have since been to other restaurants on the island that are much better and welcomed our business. The Tasting Room should be capable of more. read more

Megan is amazing, every recommendation is spot on with our food. I tried to pair tapenade with a bold California red, epic fail vs her recommendation O.P.P. Pinot. She knows her wine and even cocktail. She makes a delicious hazelnut cappuccino drink, best dessert drink ever. Food wise, we've only tried their appetizers. What a find!! We found this darling restaurant when we stopped at the wine shop next door. We had a delicious dinner including the burrata, olive tapenade, and lamb. YUM!! A few weeks ago while vacationing here we came into the wine shop on a whim and were invited by the owner to try out the restaurant next door. Unfortunately, they were booked so we were asked to stop in a bit later. We came back a few hours later and were so happy we did! We had their lamb shank special with polenta and we each enjoyed a wine flight. The staff were super friendly and made us feel at home. We loved sitting on the couch area on the front porch. I am very disappointed in this restaurant. I called to make a reservation a month in advance and was told that they were putting our party of 8 in their reservation book. I just called to confirm (a week prior) and add 2 people to our reservation and was told that they did not have our reservation and couldn't accommodate 2 additional people.
