Excellent ambiance, food and service. My wife and I were staying at a resort nearby and this restaurant was recommended to us by a fellow guest. We called to make a last minute reservation (procrastinating on holiday and got lazy with planning) and the host we spoke to was very accommodating, friendly and honest (said we may have to wait 5 minutes while people finish). Great spot with easy parking, indoor and outdoor seating, two cozy couch areas for seating too with parties of about 4-5. We sat at a table for two on the patio. The menu is simple and easy to choose from. Lots of wine and spirit options too. The French Onion soup was piping hot and very flavorful. The caesar salad was....a caesar salad (there are much better items on the menu but I was going lite since it was late), and the Tasting Room Salad was very good - creamy dressing and good flavors. Liked the place so much we couldn't stop, so right before closing (9:30pm) we added an artichoke dip and it was very good - crostini perfectly toasted and seasoned and very hot and creamy artichoke dip with real artichokes. I absolutely loveee the tasting room! I live right here in Koloa so it's such a nice place for a drink out with the girls, they have a wide selection of wine and their liquor too (Megan's old fashion is super yummy!). I love that they do 2oz pours for like $5 so you're able to try a few different wines without committing to just one type. Their steak is so soft and delicious, and if you're just there for a drink, you have to get the local toffee/chocolate, thank me later. TIP: be sure to make a res ahead of time, the place is small and they book up pretty quickly. Try to come tues/thurs 6-8pm there are awesome live local bands! read more

5/28 We happened in there 6 of us after being rudely treated at the pizza place next door. The place was very accommodating after a nice young couple gave up their table and went to sit at the bar so we could all sit together. The Tasting room is a throwback of old-school dining. Chef Clinton did an extraordinary job on the beef Wellington prosciutto wrapped with a mushroom Duxelles. Which was on the special board. We had the pleasure of a dinner at The Tasting Room in Koloa. We did not have a reservation, so we arrived shortly after the restaurant's 5pm opening. We were given a great table for two on the front porch. Service was great. The restaurant's wine list did not disappoint. It is extensive. My wife did bubbles, I enjoyed a few glasses of Pinot with my salad and dinner. We both ordered the same main course; the mahi-mahi fish special. It was pesto crusted sitting on a perfectly prepared portion of angel hair pasta. Overall an excellent meal. read more

We stumbled upon The Tasting Room downtown and decided to give it a try. We found exactly what we were looking for! We opted to do a customized wine flight. They have such a good variety of delicious unique wines. Since we didn't want anything too filling to eat we ordered a large charcuterie board. The cheese and meat selections were absolutely delicious. Their chips, jams and mustards are made in house which makes it even better. Everything on their seasonal menu looked delicious and if we were more hungry we would've ordered much more. All of the waitresses were so sweet and helpful. We really enjoyed the selection of wines and light munchies at The Tasting Room. They don't have pre-selected flights, but the servers know the wine list and can recommend a few to try in 2 ounce pours. We got the charcuterie board, which was a little smaller than expected, but full of tasty options. Since we were still hungry, we ordered a flatbread next, which filled us up. It's a fairly small and cozy place, and we were able to sit outside on the patio. It's a nice atmosphere although it is next to a somewhat busy street, but that takes away very little of the enjoyment. I would recommend stopping in here if in the area. read more

A big fan of Roy's, my psyche level was high for this event. He did not disappoint. From crazy tangy mango mule to the oddball crostini with lobster and shrimp it was non stop great. Service folks had lots of personality and food came quick. Highlight was the ribs and second was that darn good corned beef which is closer to pastrami if you ask my taste buds. Oh if I could give this place a 6th star, I would. We had a few dinner options and went with the tasting room. Got the charcuterie board, which had several cheeses and meats on the small. Oh my gosh, what a GEM on the island! We have gone 4-5 times in the past two months. The ambiance, service and food are some of the best on Kauai. The environment has a local, laidback feel. We enjoy sitting at the bar and talking with the bartenders, or sitting outside on the porch. The bartenders and servers are all SO nice- they feel like friends. They are always willing to help you navigate through the wine or food menus. We haven't had a bad wine once, and oh my gosh the food.... it's fabulous. We typically get the burrata, the tasting room salad (a must have in my opinion) and a large charcuterie plate and/or whatever special they have going. Last night we had prime filet with red potatoes and green beans- the meat was perfectly cooked and tender and the vegetables were delicious. The food here is always perfectly seasoned and plated. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Definitely a must visit while on Kauai! read more

Easily one of the top restaurants on the island. Our server, Erika, was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious! Their unique twist on a yummy beet salad (beets were smoked!) got us rolling along side a fresh balsamic, basil Burrata dish. We ordered the pesto broiled mahi mahi which is served over garlic parmesan angel hair pasta - it was perfect. But the special - a seared and blackened ahi with furikake with cabbage slaw and avocado may have been the tastiest seared ahi dish we have ever had! Adjoined by the wine shop next door, the wine selection is spot on. Other cocktails are offered, as well, by the way. The pannacotta with chocolate dipped strawberry and chocolate chips was the perfect end to a perfect meal which was only enhanced by a beautiful sunset from our seats in the outside patio. From the minute you're greeted happily & friendly at the door thru the entire dining experience you know your pleasure is their main focus. From a 2016 Napa Cab Sauv to a French Sancerre to a phenomenal smoked beet salad and flavorful entries topped with an amazing chocolate molten cake dessert the evening, and service, were 5 all the way!!!! Bravo to this woman owned business and the amazing women who were running around keeping all the customers happy during a busy dinner rush!!! I honestly cannot say enough good things about the tasting room, I'm not sure if it's a hidden gem or well known but if you're coming to Kauai you have to eat here one night. From their wine pairings to their bourbon selection (more affordable than the mainland) everything was superb. To finish the meal we had, what I would say was the single best beef Wellington I've eaten, I'm comparing of course to Hell's Kitchen which to be honest doesn't even come close to here.
