I was in The Tavern last night late. Never been and loved the look of this place. The owners clearly put alot of work into it. Too bad both bartenders were intoxicated to the point of not even clearly understanding a simple order. The blonde bartender almost seemed strung out...she couldnt even look at me when I tried to order. The first order i put in, they literally forgot to even make and it wasnt busy at all. Ive worked in the business for over 10 years now and feel bad for the owners because this is clearly bad for business...not to mention they are handling their money. read more

We are visiting Omaha and stopped in to The Tavern last night. The vibe and energy is great! Last night they had a DJ. He had everyone on the dance floor, took requests and played a great variety of music. The staff is awesome and knowledgeable about what they provide. A cute touch is that they bring in snacks from the UK. It is a great place to enjoy your friends and have some fun which is what we did. If you are in the area you have to visit. read more

Bad experience- whoever was working on Friday night accosted me in the corner because she thought I was someone else that didn't pay their tab? You can't come out swinging at people when you're WRONG. Turns out her bartender didn't close the right tab. Not really my problem your bartender can't do her job correctly? After we told her to back off and stop verbally assaulting people she just stormed off. You can't verbally assault your customers out of nowhere and expect return business. Worst customer service I've ever seen at a bar in Omaha. Based on the lack of people in the bar- I see I'm not alone on that opinion. read more

I always enjoy The Tavern if I am downtown in the late afternoon or early evening. It's usually not super busy and a good chill place to drink. I can always get a well made drink here and the staff has always been talkative and friendly. It's not my scene when it is packed late at night. They also have an excellent front patio for people watching in the Old Market. On a recent visit I noticed that they remolded a bit and the room had a better flow to it now. I think there is a new owner-but it still had the vibe of the old Tavern to me. The one thing that throws me off is that t seems like there is always techno-pop and club music playing in here. I get that at night and enjoy that music-it's a little off putting at happy hour though. Not a huge deal. This and Havana Garage are my two favorite casual bars in the Old Market. read more

This is pretty much the only bar I enjoy going to in the Old Market regularly. Great liquor selection, tasteful atmosphere, and a cultured crowd. I have a strange work schedule, so what I especially love about The Tavern is that I can walk in any night of the week for a well made drink and decent conversation. If you're looking to escape the Monday blues for example, Karaoke with Jen is always blast. I can't really think of another place that has a poppin crowd on a Monday. If you have a normal work schedule, Friday/Saturday are always active nights with a substantial crowd and the DJS there are actually pretty decent. David, Sam, Victoria, Jen, Jordan, and Jeremy have all made me feel welcome and I guarantee they will make you feel at home there as well. read more

The Tavern was renovated since the last time I visited. They have a beautiful patio, kickass atmosphere annnd (the best part) a wide liquor selection! Our night started with a bottle of Veuve and included shots of my favorite tequila- Casamigos! Staff was friendly, crowd was enjoyable and we just had a great time. Nice bar, but the bartenders tend to be these pretentious, egotistical types. And the place seems to attract customers of the same type.

I love OMT. If I am going out, I always make sure to hit it up.if I got on Friday or Saturday night, I tend to go earlier in the evening so it's not as crowded. If you go in after 10, good luck at getting a spot at the bar. On the weekdays it isn't bad. The bartenders are very friendly and quick to kick out the unwanted bar crowd so if your going to try to cause problems might as well take it some where else. read more

The Tavern is a welcoming, open spot that never fails to show me an interesting mix of people. My personal favorites- sitting on the patio on a Sunday afternoon, dancing on a weekend night, their gems of craft cocktails, AND bubbles on tap! I love it here. read more

I'm from California and was in town for work. This bar was recommended by coworkers. I walked in and found a bottle of alcohol on a bench and promptly returned it to the bar and was accused of STEALING! are you kidding me? I said pull the video and call the cops, I have NOTHING to hide! These ppl who work are so conceded and live in a hole that they couldn't even see how honest I was being. I would never want to contribute to a bar where bartenders have no soul and can't realize how honest a person can be. Not to mention its grounds for a law suit.... I have it all on video!! read more

My experience at the tavern was not a pleasant one at all. The bartenders were very rude from the start and after one guy in the bar decided to steal they accused all his friends of stealing and said no one was ever welcome back and they were all guilty by association. I didn't even know the guy that stole but the way the bartenders handled it afterwards was unnecessary. One bartender even went as far as to taunt everyone who was leaving at the end of the night which resulted in another fight outside. He said he didn't care if any of us came back and that we were all horrible tippers anyway. They should know working in the bar business you'll have to deal with drunk patrons quite often and they should have known how to handle it better. Seriously will never go back there again and I work in a position where I can choose to recommend or not recommended social outings for out of towers and I will definitely not recommended this place. But according to the bartenders last night, they could care less. Oh, and the bartenders weren't even charging correctly. They would tell you one price and end up taking less than they said. Good for the customers but bad for the owners. read more

AWEFUL! I was excited to try this place after walking by it many times. I sat at the bar the entire night and order a mixed drink and some shots for my friends. At one point in the night the bartenders stopped the music and shouted, " listen up, we found beer cans that we do not serve in this bar, if your bringing in alcohol get the f*ck out." The music went back on and my friends and I went about having a good time. Then we left, maybe 45 minutes later. The bartender followed my friend and I a BLOCK away, stopped us and told us to open our bags. We did, confused, and I realized she was accusing us of taking in the beer. I said, ( in a friendly tone) "do you think we were the ones who brought the beer in. She said "yeah, and your not f*cking welcome back." My friend and I were stunned that we were being accused of this after we spent the whole night sitting right in front of her at the bar drinking the drinks that this bartender had made us. She publicly humiliated us in front of many people walking around downtown. We were so appalled and outraged that the bartenders choose to handle that situation in such a rude and insulting way. I hope she caught the people that actually brought the beers in, and feels stupid for falsely accusing us! read more

My friend and I went to this bar for the first time last weekend to go meet up with my roommate and his boyfriend. We were there for about an hour and sat at the bar for the majority of time we spent there. Nothing out of the ordinary happened except for that a female bartender silenced the entire room to announce that apparently someone was smuggling beers into the bar. My friends and I thought it was bizarre but we remained in our seats to finish our drinks. I had 1 mixed drink in addition to a round of shots and made sure to properly tip the bartender (same woman that yelled at everyone). After leaving, my friend and I realized this same bartender followed us about a block outside of the bar and then demanded we open our purses so she could check for the supposed beer cans. It was completely degrading and uncomfortable, this woman had no reason to accuse my friend and I. Subsequent to her unnecessary search (from which she came up empty handed) she cussed us out and banned us from returning (lol-as if we would anyway)! Long story short there is no chance in hell my friends and I would ever come back to the tavern, their treatment of us was 100% disgusting. I'm a graduate student and my friend is a teacher, we both ordered drinks and tipped this creepy woman-yet she targets us for no reason. read more
