Stumbled in during Happy hour, by coincidence. Got led to a table by the window after just a short wait, by a smiling cheerful young lady. The table was tiny and we wanted to order 2 drinks, 3 appetizers and an entree. I asked our server "Sol" if we could move to a larger empty table by the terrace window. I liked that she actually tried by asking the guy who assigns seating. He said no, that table was reserved. She apologized to us which she didn't have to do, and we felt appreciated. She checked in on us often, filling our water glasses and even adjusted the table leg so it wouldn't rock. She came back often to clear our empty plates. Always a genuine smile and a happy attitude. The Terrace restaurant is located in Hanalei, Kawaii in a strip mall on the second floor. They do have an elevator. We had a table next to the rail and enjoyed seeing dusk. We ordered the edamame. Ordinary tasting. We had to ask for salt. My husband ordered the salmon bowl. He liked it but didn't rave about it. I ordered the home made veggie burger. It was uncooked mush and I returned it. After my husband finished his meal I was still waiting for a replacement. I complained and the server told me it took a long time to cook the burger. Really!!! I canceled my order. I ordered a Pina Colada. it wasn't a drink. It was a thick smoothie. Overall it was a frustrating and underwhelming dining experience and we will not be coming back. Come here, annually for lunch in Hanelai- It is above the Chinatown section/ looks down on busy City Street of Hsnelai-lots of lunchtime options ranging from chicken teriyaki bowl, pokey bowl, sandwiches, Caesar salads very extensive menu and reasonably priced around $22 for good portioned lunch. Stick with known cocktails, I ordered a Paloma and it was very tart. The waiter kindly returned it and I could get a gray goose and tonic. Stick to the basics with drinks here. Would definitely come back, nice vibe, good service!- teriyaki chicken bowl was a stand out. Poké bowl was a little bland and I did not like the mayonnaise type sauce they had on top of it. To be quite honest, I was pleasantly surprised with the overall experience I had at this restaurant. My fiancé and I stumbled upon this place after walking through the Ching Young Village and saw the menu outside. The interior right away seemed to have that casual yet upbeat dinner vibe we were looking for. We went on a Saturday night with no reservations, but were able to be seated after a 10 minute wait. First off, I don't know about anyone else but I always have to look through yelp photos to help me decide what I want to eat. I saw someone post about the coconut shrimp appetizer being the "best they ever had" and was dubious, but ordered it anyway and honestly... I totally agree! My fiancé and I can't stop thinking about them. The coconut flavor was present with a nice touch of sweetness, it was super crispy yet the shrimp was soft, and the biggest thing that stood out to me was that it wasn't oily at all. The next time I come to hanalei I'd definitely go back just for that. We also had the seafood pasta which had a lot more seafood than I was expecting. More was hidden in the bottom as well, and everything was so fresh. It had a nice buttery flavor, and I asked our server for some lemon which he gladly gave me, and I think that really helped tie the flavors together. The poke nachos were good too, but we weren't expecting the fish to be half cooked, so that was a slight bummer. It was still really good though and I would still highly recommend it. The server was also amazing. I unfortunately don't remember his name but he shared that he's from Mexico and we had a great conversation. He was super friendly and we exchanged food recs (since he lives on Kauai and we're from Oahu). Overall it was such a great night with amazing food. We met someone at Pickleball who was a local and recommended The Terrace so glad he did. Great atmosphere and views I had a delicious coconut, avocado pesto pasta, and my husband had equally delicious linguine with beef. We topped it off with a mango lilikoi cheesecake. All was amazing. We walked upstairs for lunch and were greeted pleasantly and graciously by the hostess. She could have been the manager, owner, or merely just a person who was enjoying her job! She seated us and we were immediately brought ice waters which were appreciated as it was a warm day. Waiter (Migue V on the receipt since I forgot his name lol) came quickly and took our drink order (bloody Mary's which were amazing). We ordered edamame, the chicken teriyaki bowl, and the Bulgogi bowl. Edamame came quickly and was warm followed (when we're done with the edamame) by our entrees. Food was fantastic. Large portions with plenty of protein and fresh ingredients. Server was there to check on us quickly and saw that we may want an additional drinks. We ordered a Longboard Lager and a Sauvignon Blanc. This is Kauai, so we were surprised to see the bill come that included an appetizer, two entrees, two Bloody Mary's, a beer and a Sauvignon Blanc total ONLY $105.00 plus tax of $4.95! The Mahi was tasteless and very dry and the grilled vegetables medley was mushy zucchini and no medley. The waitress didn't care. Fine dining here is a hard no and not worth the $.
