My boyfriend and I came here for a date night and honestly I am really impressed! The lobster bisque was the best I have had and I loved the French dip! The bread was soooo crunchy and delicious. Just wonderful! French fries were yummy too :) My boyfriend ordered a burger and he said it was very good!! The martinis... strong. Very strong. A solid restaurant/bar to go to either for drinks or for a meal. I remember coming here with the first company I ever worked for after college and it was great to order all of the appetizers here. I came here years later with my husband and the food was still very good -- it was also really crowded when we came and the restaurant seemed a lot bigger then when I had previously been there. There are tons of items on the menu! I think they gave some sort of dessert since it was my birthday. Also, there are a couple of these in North Jersey so I'm assuming they expanded. When I first noticed this place (old Trader Joes location - yeah it was tiny) I thought Irish Pub potentially being a dingy place inside. I was surprised to walk into a really nice restaurant. It was updated, roomy (but small) and very welcoming. The bar area was nice as well. They have a decent amount of beers on tap. Apps: We split their wings. The combo had both the Jamaican Jerk and buffalo. The buffalo was perfect for me but too spicy for the lady. JJ was enjoyed by her. Entree: Med salad for her, Cheeseburger for me. Both were very good. The burger stood the challenge of a solid bun. The meat was tasty and seasoned well. It was also cooked to perfection. The salad was overflowing. Surprisingly a very good pick and a great place to have a drink & meal. Be mindful that it gets really busy on the weekend because there aren't many of these place in the immediate area. A safe choice for the whole family, Dad gets a beer, mom gets a salad, the kids get burgers and hopefully nobody fights LOL! The Thirsty Turtle combines a medium-size restaurant with a much larger bar and offers standard American fare at reasonable prices. They don't take reservations, at least they didn't when we tried on a Saturday. Lots of people standing around .. but the bar had a little room, whew! Just know that the place is CRUSHED about 6pm-ish when every kid wants to eat so delay a little, that crowd clears out about 7:30 and then there are plenty of tables. I always hope for craft beer and was pleased to see 16 taps here, including good stuff like Dogfish Head 60 min IPA and Stella, also less good stuff like Miller Light and Coors Lite (wait I got that backwards :). Alas half the tap lines had a wardrobe malfunction that evening but we made do with what came out of the other half. Proper pint glass was $6. Happy hour in the bar is actually new here (huh what?), about a buck off during the week. Not just for kids, this restaurant has full bar service and is a solid choice for adult conversation, manageable noise level even though every table was packed. I think the very high industrial-style ceilings must help the noise dissipate. We started with a tower of onion rings, called the "toss" because it looks like something at a carnival you'd throw rings at. They arrived mostly hot and crispy, with cajun mayonnaise and bbq sauces on the side, not crazy at $7. My dining companion loved her pretzel burger, which came with bacon, cheese and very very good french fries, just $11. A turkey burger was served on some kind of thin flatbread with those good fries, another good choice at $9; every topping is extra but even after adding mushrooms and cheese it's still only $11, pretty darned fair. Our waiter was friendly but prone to vanishing. He did appear once to apologize for the slow kitchen, they must have been way deep in the weeds, but we had fresh beers and friends to catch up with so didn't mind the delay. If you're toting a toddler you'll have quite a different opinion. Vegetarian rating: solid 3 stars, there are appetizer choices including those onion rings and guacamole, a pizza-like flatbread, a couple of interesting salads, a veggie burger and even an all-veg stir fry entree. I'm with Deborah D., nothing much exciting here, but they served us properly and we enjoyed a nice meal for a fair price, plus good beer selection so deserves the A-OK of 3 stars. read more

Stopped in for dinner and won't return. It's a great location for locals of Madison, Florham Park, Livingston and surrounding areas. (sorry no pics) I'd describe The Thirsty Turtle as a clean diner with a bar only with a happy wait staff and clean. I highly recommend the jerk wings. They're $11. And you can get a combo which includes buffalo and jerk. Don't waste your time on the buffalo you can sprinkle some sauce on wings at home. The jerk wings are worth it. My turkey burger was over cooked. Fries needed salt and the regular burger was smothered with too much cheese. We wanted a burger not a Swiss grilled sandwich. Loved the fact we weren't rushed but the food was subpar. The waitress was pleasant and made recommendations from the specials menu. read more

We stopped by here around 430 pm on Monday. Place was not that busy. A few people at the bar and two tables were taken. This place is huge inside. Ample of parking. Our server was very pleasant. We started off with fried calamari. It was delicious. We didn't get any dipping sauce for calamari but didn't need it. Calamari was cooked with peppers, capers, olives, garlic etc. Really yummy. For entrée we got Bangkok stir fry chicken and chicken fajitas. I requested to make stir fry little spicy. Unfortunately it was too spicy for my taste but, it was delicious. Monday night out. Went out for a casual dinner with my BF and we were greeted at the door and brought to a table promptly. The server came quickly and took our drink orders. Service was friendly, professional and he was just very attentive. Our server ,Chris, had perfect timing. We ordered an appetizer that was delicious. I'll include pic. Irish nachos. We had the veggie burger with caramelized onions and a meatloaf entree. It was all good. Portion was good. I have nothing negative to say. All good! I'd go back for sure. They do a lot of burgers, and they do them quite well here, in my opinion. The service, and food prep took a while, though, we were there at least 30 minutes waiting during lunchtime. If you want somewhere quick, this is probably not the best route. Started with the French Onion soup - excellent for the price, and came out nice and quick. They have a lot of different kinds of burgers, I chose the 'Shrom burger which was a nice medley of mushrooms (but too few to be great) and the burger was well done. Bun was a little too thick and heavy for me - could be a bit lighter, toasted crisp with some butter and would've been much better. Overall, though, service quick and easy and the big parking lot doesn't hurt, either. Not a bad place to grab a few burgers, some of the rotational beers on-tap, and catch a game. read more

Went here for lunch yesterday. I thought it was just okay. We were seated quickly which was good being a party of 7. Our waitress was friendly and attentive to our table. The food itself though didn't wow me and the menu seemed scattered with tons of items that really didn't seem to go together. A good thing to have a variety on the menu though. I ordered a house salad with the balsamic chicken sandwich and fries. The fries and the salad were good. The sandwich didn't have much flavor to it. I found myself adding my balsamic dressing from my salad to the sandwich. If I go back I will try something new on the menu. The other folks I went to lunch with seemed happy with their meals. You can't see the restaurant from the road. Your GPS will tell you you are there but I assure you, you are not. Turn in when it says you are there and drive around the building. I was really upset with the how the hostess talked to me. I made a reservation for two and it was our first night out due to COVID and we wanted to support local buisness. It was raining really badly and so we called and asked if we would be seated where we would not get wet. The hostess said "yes, you will be covered". We get there and many tables are open under the front covering but the hostess sits us in the back tent where its is flooded and the seats are soaked. I asked for the table that was dry and she said "no, we have reservations"... meanwhile... it was a table four four which is what she was sitting us at.. Came here this afternoon with two coworkers for lunch today. It was a success. I ordered the turkey burger which was delicious! It had a nice spread of whole grain mustard which I always love. The burger patty was cooked perfectly and super juicy. As someone who tries to be carb-conscious, I really appreciate their use of thin wheat rolls; I also think it helps you taste more of the burger. The coleslaw was good just needed a bit more salt. The best part was we were not rushed out; we were actually there for a good 1.5 hours. Good choice for today!!! read more

This was the best meal I have had all year. Absolutely incredible, we had a party of about 20 and they let us in right away. Food wait was not long at all and it was to die for. The spinach dip was soooo good along with the pretzels. I got the grilled chicken sandwhich which was amazing, even the fries were delicious. Also had some of the chicken quesadilla, top tier. The customer service was so bomb, they knew we were in a rush and took care of us right away. Very neat bar in Florham Park that also has a decent menu. I was really impressed by the beer selection that was extensive and featured some of the best craft beers in NJ. Its located in a strip mall, but it is high end and the service was excellent. They had kids meals though it wasn't really a place for kids. The prices were fair and the food was pretty good. Came here for the first time and was very impressed. Love going to Famished Frog in Morristown, so decided to try another of their restaurants. Had gone to Thirsty Turtle in Cranford last time we were visiting NJ, but did not like the service and would not return. So glad that we came here as both the service and menu are outstanding. Brian the manager is very welcoming and fun. The wine choices are varied and provides something for every wine taste. Our entrees were Bruchetta Chicken and meatloaf, both of which were excellent. I ordered the macadamia-crusted tilapia with spinach and mashed potatoes- $15. The fish comes pan fried and is huge; it could easy fill two people. I found the dish to be on the greasy side. Flavor is good though. My co-workers order the quesadilla, salad with salmon and salad with chicken. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Came here for a lunch & left a very happy man -- I highly recommend the Irish nachos, steak spring rolls & truffle mushroom flatbread! If you're in the area with your family -- you're guaranteed to have a great meal & experience here. They have a fairly large bar area with ample bar seats + honest to god the kindest most genuine bartender I have ever had the privilege of being served by. The peach sangria was really good. Very light and not alcohol heavy. We ordered the onion rings which came stacked on a board with a metal screwer - it was really cool! They were amazing and 2 dipping sauces. My husband ordered the steak and it came with sautéed spinach and mash. I taste tested the mash and spinach. I loved the spinach.
