Just my 1st visit so just rating on service, beer and the BEST BUFFALO burger I've ever eaten. Buffalo patty was perfectly grilled & juicy (medium well). Brioche bun was fresh...soft on inside, soft crisp out. The simple lettuce tomato and single halved pickle made the meat standout! I had the Brotherton Pale Ale which was fresh tap. Crisp cold served in a goblet surprisingly. Service was attentive & prompt. The outside of restaurant looks like a plain country yellow "barn" building...yet inside was surprisingly modern contemporary pub look. If there is a design like that lol! I like the restaurant layout - restaurant tables on right, and bar area with tables on the left. Bar area was lively but easy to have conversation in and TV's all in good viewing area. Our service was fine - I wouldn't call it outstanding by any means, but was timely. As far as the food goes, I think it was okay. Had the guacamole app and it was good. Ordered the filet fajitas...I think the filet was overdone, and I have no idea what type of sauce they put on it - it was like a red sweet and sour sauce. I was expecting a fajita type flavoring and this totally threw me off. The setup was nice, but if I was just rating on the food I had I would've probably given a lower rating. Tonight was our first time eating here and I just have to say the service here was excellent!! From the moment we walked in to the moment we sat down, everything was great. The restaurant was clean and social distancing was enforced. We wore masks until we sat down to eat and we were seated in a section with no one within 6-ft of us. The hostess was very pleasant and friendly, our server was great , and the food was excellent! I got the classic burger and it was probably the best burger I've had in a while. My husband ordered the Buffalo Bleu Chicken Sandwich, and he couldn't stop saying how good it was. Everything was fresh and the jerk wings are a must try! We definitely will be back here. One of the only bars in Florham Park and it works out well. Very good assortment of beer and happy hour specials. Come here often for dinner usually always crowded great happy hour spot. Last time I was here decided on the margarita flat bread appetizer it was alright nothing to run home about. For my meal decided on the blackened chicken salad which was enormous and very very good. The other people in my group decided on Port Cheddar Burger and a Cuban Panini both looked very good. Other times coming here I have had the filet mug on spring rolls and they were great! My usually dish I get is the Thai grilled chicken, lo mein noodles, bok choy, napa cabbage, carrots, red bell peppers, broccoli, peanut curry sauce, roasted peanuts (stole from website because it's that good) worth trying wouldn't suggest getting takeout much fresher and one time meal was completely wrong... expect a wait. read more

So i have to say when this place first came up on my yelp search, the name threw me off and I judged a little bit. Once walking in, the hostesses were nice and we were given a buzzer to wait. Looking around the room, I honestly had no idea why it was called the thirsty turtle. With the exception of a few photos of turtles, the name didn't really make sense. When I envisioned a location called the thirsty turtle, I pictured a dingy bar with some bar food. In reality, this location is a family friendly restaurant with booths on one end and a fully stocked bar and televisions on the other end. I started off with a cocktail, which I don't remember the name of, but I wasn't a fan. Afterwards I had a glass of wine, which was much better. For appetizers, we had the spinach artichoke dip with the pita chips, which was super good, and the beef won tongs, which were equally as good! I loved the side sauces that they gave with the won tongs. For my meal, I ended up having a burger, and it was delicious! Overall the food was really good, the service was about average, and I would still definitely recommend! Don't judge the name like i did, the food is delicious! read more

Pretty good pub food here, and they even have a couple of gluten-free options as well (well, hamburger buns at least) The bar has good drinks, but it's on the small side, so it can get pretty crowded. Recommend trying the buffalo chicken dip. read more

I called to make a reservation for July 5th at Noon. The person I spoke to reminded me that we had to wear Masks. I told him that we always do. We got there and was immediately seated. 5 minutes later 3 teenagers asked to be seated. They walked by us and I noticed that they did not have masks on while walking. Then a young fella came in to join them He too, was not wearing a mask. I called over the person who sat us and asked him why didn't he require that they wear a mask. He said that he would say something to them on the way out. Also, there were two women sitting behind us. One was coughing profusely. This whole situation was very concerning. I have indulged in both the pastrami sandwich, and well as the corned beer on rye, with coleslaw, Russia dressing, melted swiss, and some spicy brown mustard. I have to tell you that the black bean burger has got to be the worst thing I have ever eaten and my wife says I would eat shit on a shingle. Seriously, it was served on those Pepperidge Farm flat rounds. It was cold and tasteless. There was absolutely no seasoning to it at all. I could've mashed up a cereal box with salt and pepper and had a more flavorful dinner. I couldn't complain because I got take out. The side salad was decent and fresh. Dressing also good. I will not succumb to suburban star inflation. I will not. I WILL NOT! So this place is probably a 4 star suburban bar/resto. Decent food, lots of space, good service, and happy hour specials. You come, you eat, you drink, and you leave happy - maybe meet up with some of your buddies from the office or girls for a casual girls' night out. Put The Thirsty Turtle outside of suburbia, and it's docked down to 3 stars, because there is nothing particularly exciting or special about it. It's solid and gets the job done, assuming by job one means to provide a watering hole at which to eat, drink, and socialize. I will say this: the veggie burger was on par with some of the better ones I've had in fancier venues northeast of Florham Park, NJ. Haha. It was nicely crisped, had a hearty, savory, and wonderful flavor, and was served on wheat flat bread - nice change from the usual soft white bun or worse, enormous brick-like piece of bread. I've been to the Thirsty Turtle about 4 or 5 times, all for dinner or drinks with colleagues after work. Given its location, it draws a pretty good sized 30s - 40s professional crowd. The bar area is really nice, given its modern decor and that it's pretty wide, allowing for plenty of room for those not sitting on a bar stool. The drinks I've ordered came with an ample amount of booze and always with what I was looking for. Food-wise, I'd say they hit the mark pretty well if one is looking for tasty food, but at a price not too exorbitant for a work-related gathering. For comparison, I'd say their menu is somewhat like a Fridays or Applebee's, although of a bit higher quality. They have plenty of good sized booths, easily accompanying parties of 5 or 6. Lots of tables for larger parties. So if you're looking for a place in the Florham Park area to get together with friends or colleagues for happy hour or a meal together, I'd say that The Thirsty Turtle hits the mark! read more

Stopped by for lunch during a training. It was hidden in the plaza but worth the find. The lemon martini was amazing. The 2 kinds of wings were good too but the salad to me was in a world of its own. Ate dinner here with the fiancée last week and it was basically your average, chain restaurant kind of meal. For what it is, it's good stuff. But I don't think the food deserves much great praise. The onion ring tower seems to be a favorite and we ordered it first off. We were both very hungry and went through the appetizer pretty quick. Would recommend ordering and dipping in the orange sauce. I had a beer which was called something like Angry Rat Bastard. Great. I ordered it pretty much so I could just say the name and guess what? The moniker suits the beer. It's like 14% alcohol or some ridiculous number but it doesn't taste too harsh. I liked it a lot and it went well with my pretzel burger which was cooked medium and really hit the spot. They use a special sauce. I don't know what to say about it. The pretzel burger was decent and if I ever went back (which I probably won't cuz we're moving soon), I might actually get it again. Or I might try something else. The menu is neither over zealous or underwhelming. There's some good looking stuff on there that may or may not be as averagely pleasing as the pretzel burger. OMG I'm such an asshole. The fiancée didn't much like her veggie burger but I chalk that up to the fact that she ordered a veggie burger. The service was good for the first 3/4 of the meal. Our waitress was very friendly and seemed to enjoy being there. Does anybody really like their job? Maybe not, but she was cool. Up until she disappeared near the end and we had to wait around for the check. Maybe it was her break but if that's the case, take it after we leave please. Otherwise, she was all right. The place was packed at lunch recently on Valentine's Day, I guess a lot of people were doing lunch dates here. The food is decent. It's a bit on the pricey side for the portion size though. We had two appetizers (chicken potstickers- very skimpy meager portion and sweet potato tater tot type things-portion was okay), two entrees (a burger and fries and a small flatbread, nothing fancy at all) and four drinks was nearly $80! I was a bit shocked at the price. That being said the food tasted good what there was of it. My husband liked the burger but we both noticed that the bun was HUGE and fluffy in comparison to the small burger. A lot more bread than meat. The fries were good. Crispy and hot. The mushroom truffle oil flat bread was okay. VERY small, a little over done but tasty enough. Drinks were strong and service was decent and the place was clean. The bar has several televisions so it would be a nice place to come watch a game. I'm sure we will come back b/c we live within walking distance. I don't think we'd drive very far to eat here though. Greeters/Hostess need to work on actually greeting people instead of standing around in clumps talking and not noticing that people are waiting to be seated. That is always a turn off for me, but this appears to be a young staff and I'm sure they will improve with time. I'm sure we will give them a second chance. read more

Very good burger. Their Brioche is kinda to die for. The only reason I can't give five stars is because I'm not a fan of the fries at all. They have that texture similar to burger king and other frozen fries... BUT the onion rings and the barbecue sauce are totally delicious. Not bad - I liked The Thirsty Turtle and would go back when I'm in the area. It's at the back of a strip mall, so you think, "hmm, not sure about this". But when you go inside, it's quite nicely done. It was quite busy for a Thursday night. Nice big bar area, great beer selection. We focused on all of the bar food/appetizers, and they were not bad. Sliders were a bit unexciting and dry. Wings were wings - nothing special. The calamari wanted to be new and different but it was not everyone's favorite. The good items were the onion ring tower, Irish nachos, and the filet spring rolls. I felt a little like the kitchen was hurried, and tended to use stuff that had been re-heated or had been sitting under a lamp. Service was friendly, but uninterested.
