Actually went several months ago, but just getting around to writing review. Nice atmosphere. Very nice server we had. Can't remember her name, but very pretty and looked like a model. Excellent disposition. We ordered Ginger Pear Martinis. Excellent with the right amount of Grey Goose in it. Not like a kids HI-C drink. Buffalo wings . Huge and good ( No ones are ever as good as The Office restaurant). There were 4 different meals going on, but the one I remember the fondest was The Chicken Francoise. Excellent and I wish that I had ordered it. I remember that I wish we had not ordered the burger. It was good but there were so many other good things going on there in the way of dishes. Oh, the Macadamia Crusted Tilapia was excellent. And the Penne Vodka with Chicken was good. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is it may be on the pricey side for the casual atmosphere. read more

I've been here three times so far, once for drinks, once for lunch and once for dinner. They're new, so I will give them that benefit of the doubt, as it was not crowded any time I went. When I went for drinks, the atmosphere was pretty much your standard bar. Lots of room between the bar and the bar tables, which means there is plenty of standing room if it were to get crowded. A few nice TV's, but you wouldn't assume they're playing every game on a Sunday. They have a great selection of beers on tap and in bottles, as well as a decent selection of wine. For lunch, it was pretty standard. I hear the mushroom flatbread is great. I enjoyed my French Onion soup and chicken wrap. My companion enjoyed his "made to order" chicken sandwich. Again, it was pretty empty and there were plenty of servers, but service was slow. For dinner we opted for more appetizers than full dinners, so I can't speak to that, but the food was tasty. The "jerk" chicken wings tasted nothing like jerk, but definitely like rosemary. They were good, just not if you were expecting "jerk". Buffalo were adequate, not the best, not the worst. Since this is the only place like it in the Florham Park area, I assume it will do well. I wouldn't travel to it, but if I was in the area (which I am often) I definitely would go. read more

Good food . Was here today for a department holiday lunch. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table but I think it was due the holidays. We waited by the bar. Had a white sangria and it was ok. For appetizers we ordered Carnival Calamari and Sauteed Chicken Pot Stickers. I did not try the pot sticker but the calamari was very good. I ordered the Short Rib Tacos and it was really good. I ate lunch here today, March 13th, 2013. The atmosphere is nice and it gets pretty full with middle aged local professionals around lunch time. The decor makes you feel like you're in more of an up-scale restaurant...and the prices do too. I had one of the best hamburgers I've ever had....but for the $15 price tag I really expected nothing less than amazing. I had the buffalo burger, cooked medium rare. It was cooked great with a nice warm, pink center and tasted amazing. The french fries were pretty good too, but like I said, given that it was an almost 20$ lunch pre-tip, I really expected perfection and they nearly hit it out of the park. If the pricing was about 25% lower across the board on their items, I really wouldn't have a problem eating here 3+ days a week. read more

Ok what is all the fuss about... Another Sports Bar in the Suburbs and with everyone telling me OH this place is great yada yada yada I truly expected to be blown away. Blown away I was not, impressed it was ok. As previously mentioned by many other posters in the old Trader Joe's location that once many years ago was a Bowling alley is now the "The Thirsty Turtle". Enter to a very nicely appointed bar area with great TV's everywhere inside and a smaller dining area to the right with booths. We sat at the bar this evening with Bailey & I believe his name was John. Both very nice and accomadating. After some generous pours of some wine by the glass we started with a couple of flat breads.. Margarita Flat Bread Hand diced tomato, fresh basil, extra virgin olive oil, Asiago, mozzarella and fontina cheeses on an ultra thin flat bread $9.00 which was tasty but fairly basic and no wow factor. Second was a French Onion Soup Rich Beef broth with sweet caramelized onions, topped with a toasted crouton with bubbling Monterey Jack and mozzarella cheese $5.00 which was the best thing tasted and a meal by itself hands down. Last but not least we had a couple of different burger & sandwiches. Pretzel Burger 8 ounce premium Angus burger topped with American cheese, crispy smoked bacon, Russian dressing and shredded lettuce served on a toasted soft pretzel roll $11.00 was extremely disappointing not bad but not $11.00 either and the fries were cold. Second was Cajun Chicken Sandwich Grilled chicken breast dusted with Cajun seasonings and topped with pepperjack cheese, Cajun mayonaise, on a roll served with fries$10.00 that was better than the burger but not cajun or blackened just seasoned and grilled. Fries also cold. Look its a sports bar nothing more nothing less. Is the food Good its OK just not I have to go to the TT tonight cause I crave something. Service was spot on, the place very clean and appealing. Would not hesitate to go here for a quick bite or cocktail or watch a game just not the awe inspiring sports bar I was expecting after hearing from all my friends. read more

We were visiting our daughter at FDU and decided to go out for a late lunch/early dinner with a couple of her friends. We looked on Yelp and decided to try Thirsty Turtle. The staff was very friendly and we had great service. Everyone liked their food very much with the exception of my husband, who had Irish nachos (which we decided to call "potachos" since the base was homemade potato chips). He said they were ok but nothing special. The cuba libra wings were great as was the spinach salad with apples and pecan salad. The kids enjoyed the buffalo winds and filet minon kabobs. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone in the area. First of all it was my second time there and I was truly impressed by the food, the wait staff, and the crowd that gathered for lunch. As there is not much but fast food in the area this place, although hidden, should be a stopping ground for all. We had the delicious Ahi tuna appetizer and were both sort of fighting over the last few pieces because it was so go. Then I got the Cajun chicken salad with added jalapeno peppers and the really good dressing on the side. My boyfriend had the pretzel burger. We both cleaned our plates. And he even commented....WOW, you were really hungry. Truth is I wasn't but it was that good. Our waitress was a sweetheart. We went for an early lunch, around noon and there were only a few tables already sitting down. We left around 12:45 and the place was packed?!?! I will definitely be back. Made a reservation for 3 on a Tuesday @ 5:15. We weren't offered an indoor table even though the weather was cool and the dining room was empty. Were told that we had to be finished in an hour and a half. Mediocre millennial server rushed us through our overpriced mediocre meal even though it was clearly not busy and we spent almost $200 on food and drinks. Still left a generous tip which was undeserved and apparently unappreciated. We asked the host if we could sit inside to have another round and we were told that the bartender was informed that we were only allowed one more round! One would think customers who are willing to spend money and frequently patronize an establishment would be treated a little more welcoming. Especially during times like this! We will NEVER return and hope that Thirsty Turtle doesn't survive covid!! No stars read more

I took off a star for this restaurant because the waiter was kind of pushy when me and my boyfriend were waiting for our friends to come and meet us at the place. We got a booth rather quickly, at 8PM, and the waitress came around and asked us for our order, but we declined to order as to wait for our friends, and expressed this to the waitress. 10 minutes later, she comes back and asks again for our orders... after I told her that we were waiting for our friends. The limited menu means that the TT should be able to blow away their clientele with their dinner dishes, but though I'm not very impressed. The Irish nachos were pretty standard- greezy cheez, soggy crisps. The Cajun chicken sandwich was SO spicy I could barely taste it. The BBQ ribs were very tender, but overly doused in BBQ sauce and could've benefited from a dry rub instead. The cole slaw and corn soufflé were pretty darn good, though. Waffles Foster- eh. Beer menu is all right- I can't complain about the on-tap specials. The wait-staff is friendly, but very busy. Good luck trying to have a conversation with your party if you're seated by the bar- it is SUPER loud in there thanks to the wood floors and ultra-high ceilings. We'll go again because my boyfriend thinks this place is amazing; I'll go because it's the only place around with Allagash White on tap. read more

Definitely a busy spot, and they only seat complete parties. In the couple of times I've been, I've not had to wait for a table. Good beer list, with a decent selection of rotating taps. The French onion soup made with Guinness is an interesting twist on the classic, and was both unique and great tasting. Definitely recommended! As others have said, the Cajun Chicken Sandwich is an excellent choice, as well as the Port Cheddar burger. They seem to cook burgers a little on the low side, medium definitely came out medium rare (red, not pink). read more

One of those places we enjoy going because nobody can hear our kids over the dull roar of lively dining and drinking. I always get the Malibu Veggie Burger, which elicits the usual "did you lose a bet?" from my husband, but the poor fellow is really missing out. I have no idea (and probably don't want to know) how anyone could get a veggie burger to taste THAT GOOD. Hubs always enjoys the pretzel burger, and the kid's mac and cheese is actually pretty good, which I discovered because my kids didn't eat any of it. (Grapes + ice cream + stealing Daddy's french fries = square meal for a kid, right?) And a little bird told me that their cocktails are goooood. read more

The ambiance is pretty nice and it's very spacy. I have been here quite a few times already and had the pretzel burger, buffalo burger, salads etc. My favorite so far is the buffalo burger. I would say out of most of the restaurants in the area this is up there. The prices are average but the service is great. We went here on a Saturday night. We had a 20 minute wait, but that is to be expected on a Saturday night. To bide the time, we waited at the bar area. Thirsty Turtle has an excellent selection of beer; they had craft brews like Captain Lawrence and Carton (if I am remembering correctly) on their taps. Most craft beers are 6 bucks, which is comparable to other bars in the area. In terms of design, the restaurant is very spacious. We had a group of six and were comfortably seated in mega-big booths. Despite the crowd, I did not feel like the restaurant was overly noisy. The bathrooms are also kept very clean. The menu is small, but has everything you basically need---- one side with food, one side with beers/wines/mixed drinks. The menu has what you'd want in a bar/restaurant---lots of burgers, apps, and some full-on entrees. The prices are a bit high for me (11 bucks for a salad with grilled chicken...?), so I ordered the pretzel burger (also 11 bucks, but I assumed it would be more filling). The burger was good and I loved the pretzel bun. My hubby had the French dip and also enjoyed that. My only complaint is that, after awhile, the waitress seemed brusque with us. We had been at the tablei awhile and I guess she wanted to "flip" the table, but please don't take away my glassware--maybe I want a refill or another drink altogether.... Overall, we had a good time. I don't live in the immediate area, but I'd go back to meet up with friends. The Thirsty Turtle is a good, casual restaurant and is like a classier version of TGIFs. As suggestions, I'd like to see some kind of repeat customer incentive program (they have one for lunch, but one general one would be good too). Although I have been here in the past I had never come with a large party. They are not very accommodating with a large party for drinks and appetizers. We had to ask 4 times to be seated in the dining area because the bar area was not sufficient. We found the staff to be a little curt however when we were finally seated the server was great. I would not recommend going here with a large party if you want to be seated for drinks and appetizers only. read more

The Thirsty Turtle is by far the best thing that has happened to Florham Park! I find myself there around once a week for drinks with co workers the staff is incredibly kind and very welcoming! The food is so tasty - my favorite is the pretzel burger ! They used to have the worlds best buffalo chicken dip but it was unfortunately cut from the menu :( Never had a bad experience here !! read more

Came here with a group of people for drinks and appetizers, and had a great time here. Our waitress was super attentive and on top of things; we ordered several rounds of appetizers at different times and with different people ordering, and no mistakes were made at all. I recommend the flat bread! Any flavor basically, because they all tasted great. I've honestly never had this type of appetizer before, and I thought it was innovative and delicious. It's like very crispy thin crusted pizza, but you won't feel as guilty eating it because each serving size is small ;). Went with the family. We had a good experience. Wings were good. Have had much better wings, and much worse; these wings were middle of the road (good). I had the turkey meatloaf and really thought it was outstanding. There was a place in the City many years I ago I used to go for turkey meatloaf. Now, I just need to come here. The rest of the family had salads, burgers and chicken fingers. Everything was very good. I had a sangria. It tasted funny. Wasn't a traditional tasting sangria. Tonight prompted me to write a review about their Roasted Mushroom Flatbread. It was delicious. Thin crispy flatbread all the way through. Mushrooms were perfect. One of our favorite lunch and after work spots. The food is a step up from bar food and I've never had a watered down drink. Because the place is popular, the wait for a table can be long at times but I've never been annoyed at the wait. The bar area is spacious enough yo stand and enjoy a beer. They are the only place to get a drink in the center of town so that is a plus .... Food better than average but overpriced. Menu a bit limited. Drinks good but overpriced. Lots of taps. Service is hit or miss. Received anywhere from awesome service when busy and "couldn't care less " service when it was slow. I guess it's the luck of the draw with your server and if the eyes of a manager are watching the floor. If you need to stay in town , it's a fair choice. Friends of mine where told about a special fixed price that would be till Saturday night by an employee... Upon their arrival on the Saturday night for fine (laughable) they where told the special was over on Friday a day prior. Well they stayed anyway only to have there meals dropped by the waitress on the floor. One meal was that didnt drop was brought but the others had to wait quite a while. A complaint was registered and all where still charged for the 2 meals that where dropped and the misinformation given to them upon arrival for the fixed priced meal. This place perhaps has good reviews but their employees are not in synch. The party that went to dine was treated like third class. Not to worry there are to many places to eat and others have been told this "joint" is a "rub joint".....several people said they will not be back others said will not even consider going. read more

My fabulous friend Allison treated me to an amazing lunch experience at this fantastic American Gastro Pub/Restaurant on a Tuesday afternoon and folks let me tell ya...this Joint was Jumpin'! And now I know why! We took 2 seats at the ample sized upscale bar and were immediately greeted with a smile by Lisa our wonderful Bartender. She gave us menus and suggested a special or two. Spot on Lisa! We ordered a glass of wine and a superb Apple-tini. We then decided on apps and were completely Wow'd by the culinary perfection and timely delivery of our Filet Mignon Spring Rolls, Lobster Bisque, Spinach & Artichoke Dip with Toasted Pita bread and Bacon Wrapped BBQ Shrimp. Great service with genuinely nice home town servers. The charming and ever dapper James Yacenda even stopped by with a warm and friendly welcome, asking if everyone was treating us well. Seriously, where do you get that type of down home treatment? This is my new favorite go to! You too will understand why everyone raves about The Thirsty Turtle! The food was very good but our waitress, Meghan, was very rude. We were a group of four with a lot of catching up to do. Since I knew we were going to be there a while I tipped 25%. She actually sent a different waitress to double check that we didn't want dessert, so I ordered one so we could stay a little longer. At that point she just dropped off the check and picked it up without talking to us and made sure not to make eye contact when we were on our way out. It was a pretty crummy experience. Having a table stay and chat is not a great part of being a waitress, but acting like a high schooler is probably not the solution. Second time at the Thirsty Turtle and another great experience. My wife and I stopped in for an early dinner on Saturday night. The place was packed but was true to the 20min wait we were told. This was our first time ordering food. I had the BBQ Ribs and my wife had a salad and flat bread. The ribs were excellent and could probably give any BBQ joint a run for their money. The ribs include a corn muffin/souflay. It was amazing!!!! The salad and flat bread were also good and so was the service. I highly recommend anyone in the area to try this place.
