Stopped into The Tiny Pony with my family on a Sunday evening. The ambiance is cool and the food was tasty, but we had one of the rudest servers we've ever had. The positives: the outside is unassuming with a spacious parking lot, but the inside is kitschy, fun, and vibrant. There are plenty of tables and bar space, with lots of (seemingly local) folks coming in and out. Our food came out quickly, was delicious, and had lots of vegan and even non-alcoholic options. Everyone could get something they loved. The negative: our server. He came in with a can't-be-bothered attitude that was at-first, almost charming, but turned sour when someone asked his opinion on the tacos vs the burger. His response was "one's a taco and one's a burger. I'm not that kind of server." When I asked for water, he told me to get it myself at one of the coolers (that's marked self-serve to be fair) but I saw another server bringing her table water. He also dropped off our check with nothing but a "here". We just felt very unwelcome, maybe because he knew we were tourists, throughout the entire meal. In other circumstances, I'd recommend this place. The food and drinks are good, and the space is cool, but I haven't had service that poor in a long time. read more

My husband and I had heard of TTP by several of our friends. Most of their feedback was exactly what we experienced. So why did we go there? We like to form our own opinions, plus it was late when we arrived in YV from driving all night. First off we were told by one of the staff that their booths were reserved for more than 2 people. So we found another table, but no more than 10 minutes later the same staff member sat a couple at that booth, that were obviously her friends. We ordered the steak, brussel sprouts and fries. Attached are the pics of our over cooked and dry everything! The fries were the only thing acceptable. Also, I guess if you're one of their friends, then it's okay to have your dog on the bar counter???!!!!!! We have 2 dogs and this is unexceptable! Don't be fooled by their FRIEND's reviews. We experienced that if your not considered in their "Local In Crowd" then you're not "cool" enough to receive the same service their friends get. All of our friends have had similar experiences. TTP is overpriced, food is not prepared correctly and the staff treats you like they are better than you and it feels like they are discriminating to the LGBTIQA+ community. read more

Loved the Tiny Pony. The food was pretty good bar food, would have loved to try more. The cocktails were fun - they had a pickletini which was fun and on tap espresso martini. Fun little drink and shot specials as well. The service was great - it was first come first served for tables but the staff was really helpful turning the tables and getting us sat. Really happy we got to try this place. We stumbled in super late at night and even though they were closing the kitchen and only doing drinks they accommodated and made us the best dinner! The food and drinks are great and the service is incredible! Our serve was also one of the bartenders and she was so awesome. This place was a total surprise. We came mainly for Tuesday karaoke, and decided to take a chance on dinner. Imagine my surprise when the menu turned out to be very diverse and accommodating for my many food allergies - usually I'm lucky to find one or two options I can safely eat as a dairy-free pescatarian, but here I had several choices, and all of them were creative and inventive, and quite healthy for bar food. We ended up ordering the cauliflower wings, a delicious chickpea salad, and shrimp tacos. There was a slight misunderstanding with the tacos, but the chef remade them to what I had ordered quickly, and they were very much worth the redo. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions were much bigger than I expected! Karaoke was fun too, although it is a very popular spot, so enjoy the many talented singers and expect to sing maybe two songs if you're lucky. read more

Just go in...I know it looks a lil sketch from the outside, but I promise you won't be disappointed! The interior is fun and eclectic. The food, SO GOOD. My husband and I shared the chickpea salad and crispy chicken sando, both were delish. The salad was fresh and I loved the harissa lime dressing. The chicken was just right, we ordered the sauce on the side which I was glad for because the slaw is a bit wet and messy. Also note, the sando sauce was not spicy at all and was absolutely yummy, we put on the sandwich and used to dip our fries. In hindsight, I wish we had ordered 2! One of my fave places out here. I love their happy hour deals and their amazing wings. The set up on the seating is a little awkward sure but everything else they make up for the no fuss but good people and good food vibes. As a bar food lover - I think their burger and wings are super great. My only caution is that the food runs a little rich and the fries a little salty, so if that's something you are conscious of, try asking it to have them go lighter if possible. read more

But one of the wait staff/front of house manager was super rude and chastised me that I needed a table to order food (I had already gotten a drink and was standing at the bar) and was rude in their delivery and just unkind energy. The family and I had lunch at the Tiny Pony today. From what I saw on Yelp I was really looking forward to having some good bar food. We arrived around 12:15 and the place was pretty busy. We sat ourselves and looked over the menu while our server got our drinks. After our drinks showed up, and we made our food choices, our server returned and asked if someone took our food order. I was kind of puzzled by that comment. My mother-in-law order the Frito pie special. If you're not familiar with Firto pie, I encourage you to look it up. It is one of life's simple pleasures. Just don't order a vegan version. I ordered the Tiny Pony Burger which consisted of two smashed patties, caramelized onions, chipotle aioli, lettuce and tomato. The Mrs. ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwich which consisted of a crispy chicken thigh topped with slaw and jalapeño-cilantro ranch. My daughter ordered the Pretzel Balls. As we were waiting for our food, three other tables who came in after us got their food before we did. We got our servers attention and asked what was taking so long. At this point and hour had gone by. So as our server went to check on our food, my burger and fries showed up and my mother-in-law's Frito pie arrived as well. My burger was cold and so were my fires. They had sat long enough that they became hard an emaciated. Then ten minutes later.....my wife's chicken sandwich arrived WITHOUT fries and my daughters Pretzel Balls made their appearance. My wife asked for her fries, the waitress then said the kitchen was working on her fries and that she "Gave the kitchen hell." Meanwhile.......we ate our food.....and my wife's fries never showed up. The waitress came by and asked how everything was. The Mrs. let her know the issues we had. The waitress apologized but it was too late. We were done with our food and just asked for our check and cancelled the order of fries. I have to say it has been a very long time since I've experienced service as bad as what I experienced at the Tiny Pony this afternoon. I can't figure out why it happened to us and not the others around us but I guess it was just our unlucky day. Our serve was nice enough to give us a huge break on our check but that didn't make up for cold food and poor service. I usually will give a restaurant a second chance because I know people can have an off day, but I can't say that I'll be returning to the Tiny Pony. read more

We had the lemon pepper wings and the duck nachos. The lemon pepper wings were some of the best I've ever had. That dry rub was coated and I mean coated the entire wing with a lemon pepper crunch. They are all I've thought about since I had them. The duck nachos were great as well but could of used some type of pico or salsa on top. It was just missing that little kick of spice. The atmosphere was inviting and I loved all the cat paintings. However our waitress was not the friendliest almost kind of snarky but maybe she was having a bad day it was busy in there so who knows what she could of been dealing with that we didn't know about. Some of the best french fries I have had! (Dont need to order well done). Super nice shrimp taco, blows away the overpriced and overly clogging butter attack from the Copper Room (that place was disappointing food, drinks & service, at a premium price. The drinks here are great, with good selection of beers, and you might even ask for your personal fav, and it might be on the menu! It was for me. Maybe I'm predictable? Maybe I have my finger on the pulse and know what is gaining momentum? Maybe I need to get out more? I do get out often! (GoldenMonkey/ Victory/Try it). So the inside decor is always a conversation to be had, and if you sit by the pool table, you might wanna scoot up so you dont get hit in the head. Service is very good as well. We were 6 in the party, and all went timely and smooth. Only negative I heard was the burger was oily/greasy. (We had the burger at the Copper Room as well, and that had to be the saddest burger I had seen). This place......Worth a visit. read more

First, the positives. The tavern has a lively vibe and looks like a great place for a beer or cocktail. It has a pool table which adds to the ambiance. The waiter we had was friendly enough (although we did need to go to another table to get a roll of paper to use as napkins as our table's roll had run out). The food was the big letdown. My wife ordered the house made corn dogs which were two hand-battered beef franks with mustard, ketchup and chopped red onion and pickle relish. And I ordered the Wild Boar Sloppy Joe, which was slow cooked wild boar, crispy shallots, fried sage and pickle spear with queso cheese. The food tasted good enough but the portions were very small, especially for the price. In the case of the Wild Boar Sloppy Joe it was served on paper in a basket. As it was a Sloppy Joe, the juice from the sandwich dissolved the paper so I found myself eating Sloppy Joe mixed with dissolved bits of paper. It should be served on a plate without the paper so that doesn't happen. The price for the very small portion of Sloppy Joe with queso cheese was $18. The corn dogs were $14. When we received the bill, the restaurant added a 4% surcharge without the waiter mentioning it --- and I don't recall seeing the surcharge on the menu. I asked for and received a cash bill minus the surcharge. When I paid in cash I received as part of my change a torn dollar bill completely enveloped in scotch tape. My wife and I were still so hungry we had the rest of our dinner at another restaurant. read more

Excellent service with tasty food and great drinks. We visited The Tiny Pony while vacationing in the Palm Desert area. We almost didn't try it as the place is deceiving from the outside. We were traveling with our dogs (4 of them ) and needed a place that is pet friendly. Luckily our friend walked in and inquired. They have a very nice outdoor sitting area in the back of the restaurant with plenty of tables , sunshades, heaters and outdoor games ! Our server was fast , friendly and helpful. She helped us with menu recommendations as it was our first time there. I had the fried Brussels sprouts salad and added the avocado and chicken. It was very very good. My drink was made perfectly and not watered down. Very flavorful. I also tried the drink ordered by my friend and it was equally impressive. Our party had the chicken sandwich and the boar sloppy joe. We shared a side of French fries. The accompanying dressings and sauces were all light and flavorful. This restaurant is a hidden gem. What a surprise this stop turned out to be! A kick-back-nosh-and-feel-no-pressure kind of place. Definitely feels like a dive bar when you walk in the door, but once your eyes adjust, the decor is quirky and the food is delicious! Without question, the wild boar sloppy Joe was a hit, and the cocktails were fun and delicious. The soup of the day was a chowder and was a meal in itself. My partner and I finished hiking in Joshua Tree and were hungry. When looking up restaurants in the area on our way back to our AirBnB, I happened up here. I loved the name, but then was hesitant due to the appearance of the outside looking like a great place for murder or a front of some kind. I then saw the large amounts of positive reviews and the decent sounding food options on their menu, so we went for it. My partner was super hesitant to go in and at that point, I was like no...we're going in. I'm hungry. We entered and were happily surprised with the fantastic vibe of the inside - the velvet framed animal pictures are INCREDIBLE. The bartender / server was very nice. We ordered one of their Burgers off their Specials, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Loaded Yuca Fries, and their S'Mores dessert from their Specials. Everything was very tasty and exactly what we needed after a long, hot hike. Parking was easy. If we were ever back in the area, we'd definitely consider coming back here. read more
