We headed right to Cocoa Beach after we landed in Orlando. We were really hungry, so we decided to try The Tiny Turtle--and we are so glad we did! Our server was so friendly, and got to our table quickly. We ordered drinks while we tried to figure out what to eat. The kids got meals from the kids menu--a pork quesadilla and a cheeseburger, both with black bean rice on the side. My husband and I shared the Sofrito Burrito with roasted island pork, and we had to try it "wet style" (with more of all the sauces on top--YUM!). Food was so flavorful and fresh! I saw the nachos going to another table, and those looked awesome, too! Glad we stopped in. HIGHY RECOMMEND!

We stumbled upon The Tiny Turtle when looking for a place to grab a late lunch after going to the Brevard Zoo and are so happy we did. It's 5 stars all around! Our server Grace and the other staff were great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The front patio is a great place to chillax with some apps and cool refreshing beverages.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a nice buffer of trees so you don't feel like you're sitting right on the sidewalk.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Sofrito bowl with Mahi Mahi was amazing. The black bean rice with the guacamole and beach slaw worked so well together. Topping it with perfectly cooked Mahi completely put it over the top. I loved the way all the flavors complimented each other. The chicken and cheese empanadas were freshly cooked and tasted great. We can't wait to go back!

Small carribean inspired spot. I stopped in on a Monday during lunch hours in the off season. It was slow so the food arrived to my table quickly. I ordered a small sofrito nacho plate with mahi mahi. It had a hint of spice but was mostly covered in wet sauces. I love condiments & I love a saucy dish but it was a bit much with salsa, guacamole, sour cream & some type of house sauce. It all kind of overpowered the meal. It didn't really hit the spot for me. Menu is intentionally small and somewhat the same dish served in different ways; burrito, salad, bowl, nachos, etc. Service was great! Very friendly and welcoming.

They even played music from one of my favorite bands- Stick Figure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The CB punch drink was so tasty and delicious , it's a blend of the perfect amounts of rum and juices. Pros: Ambiance is very cool. Very beachy, semi-tiki, mellow and chill. There's a nice outdoor patio dining room that we sat in, covered to keep the sun out. Service was pretty good. Our server was nice enough, and the food came out in no time. No concerns there. As for the food, it was simple, but delicious. Who knew that adding some Island seasoning to some basic dishes can really make them pop? Cons: The server, who struck me as a manager, didn't have a good working knowledge of the drink menu at all, but we made due. Tips: Get the nachos, and get the catch of the day on them. If you've never had fish nachos before, you will love them. Also, get the burrito if you like burritos. Some breakfast burritos fall kind of flat and are disappointing, but these were gooood.

We came here one day while we were exploring the Space Coast a little bit. We have a buddy who lives out there, so we parked by his condo and walked over here to the Tiny Turtle. We chose the Turtle because it landed on the best places to eat in the US in 2024, which is a pretty prestigious list, so we were pretty excited. Ambiance was sooo chill. It's right next door to the best ice cream on the coast, the Fat Donkey. Thatched roof, tiki stuff, lots of outdoor seating. Nice vibes. Service was prompt and mostly the same: chill, beachy, islandy. Very nice lady. She struck me as the owner, or at least management. As for the food, we opened up with an appetizer. We got the nachos and for the protein, we chose the catch of the day, I think it was mahi that day. No one I was with had had fish nachos before, but they quickly became fans. The fish flaked well, and there were plentiful toppings that were layered well. It was also not a very large dish, so you didn't have to ration your protein too much. You could just eat and enjoy. I moved on to my main entrée, the Triple T Toastie (Scrambled eggs, white American cheese, shredded cheese, potato sticks, and Creme Caribe pressed in Sobao bread. Choice of veggies, bacon, sausage or ham. - Upgrade to all 3 meats). Of course I upgraded to all three meats. Very good sandwich. Excellent, quality fillings, bread that was pressed hard and delicious, and it was large enough to contain all the fillings and not be leaking out and falling out everywhere. A well crafted sandwich, paired well with the potato sticks that added a very satisfying crunch. I also got to eat half of a Wake up Burrito Scrambled eggs, potato hash, Queso Caribe, guacamole, sour cream, roasted tomatillo sauce, and Creme Caribe. Choice of bacon, sausage, chorizo, ham, Roasted Island Pork). Very good burrito, stuffed to the brim, and able to be picked up by hand, which was good, I don't like knife and fork breakfast burritos. Overall, this was a super chill, super cozy little place that can offer you a delicious breakfast before you head out to get your beach on. Or where you can send a runner to get some takeout and bring it to you while you're On the beach. Really nice. I hope to come back one day.

We stumble into this unique gem and did not disappoint. I had the sofrito bowl with roasted island pork, I initially orders the small size and regretted thinking I should've gone for the bigger size but the small was more than enough. The rest of my party ordered the sofrito burrito and they were all very impressed.

Holy crap this place has such big portions, but I am loving it! My husband and I ordered the sofrito bowl and cuban to split, and it was honestly so much food. We left feeling STUFFED - but it's hard to complain when the food was delicious. No regrets! The Cuban had a lot of meat and soft bread, which I appreciated because I don't like my sandwich bread to be too hard and painful to eat. For the sofrito bowl, I recommend getting the plantain and coleslaw as the added sides! I will definitely be returning!

We love it here! Even with all the bar options nearby, this is our go-to. It's never overly crowded and the employees are friendly and attentive. We have loved the empanadas and I had a DELICIOUS wrap today. The plantains seemed well cooked and were super good. Yum!

A Hidden Gem with Caribbean Flavor! We've been to Cocoa Beach many times and somehow never heard of Tiny Turtle--but now we'll never forget it. A few locals recommended it to us on separate occasions, so we finally checked it out--and we're so glad we did! The food was excellent--we had the Tripleta sandwich and the cheesesteak, both absolutely mouthwatering. The bread was soft and fresh, and the flavors were spot on. The menu has a Latin-Caribbean flair, thanks to the Puerto Rican chef, and it really shows in the seasoning and creativity. Service was great--Murphy took care of us and made the experience even better. The beers were ice cold, and we were excited to see Medalla, a local Puerto Rican beer, on the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was quiet when we arrived--so quiet we almost left--but we came between lunch and dinner, so we get it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Still, this place deserves to be packed. We've learned they've been around for about 12 years, and now we'll be recommending them just like the locals did with us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Don't miss this spot. This is my second review one year later and the food is just as good. We've never eaten inside the restaurant as we always get it to go but the inside is a cool vibe with the bar room separate from the dining area. They have local art for sale as well as some merch and souvenirs. We called for pickup right at the transition from breakfast to lunch so our order took about 30 minutes from call to out the door. We will be back again to try the breakfast burrito, but this time got a pork and a chicken Sofrito burrito. They're so good every time. I really hope this place stays in business!

The food is excellent and the owner is really nice. Apparently he started his restaurant as just a little walk up window. Now he has a great space where he shows off the work of local artists. It is just off the main drag right next to an ice cream shop (also animal themed). read more

Yum! We tried this place on Saturday night. It was very quiet, we were the only customers there. Seating is all outside right now, the inside seating is almost ready. But it was a gorgeous Florida evening, perfect for sitting outside. I had the Sofrito with pork, my husband had the Tripeleta. We both really enjoyed our meals. The pork was super juicy & flavorful and the guacamole was just a little garlicky & spicy. The plantains that came with were also yummy. The only part of the meal I wasn't "wowed" by was the coleslaw. It wasn't bad, just ok. You've got to try the Tiny Turtle. It's the perfect casual spot for a beer & good food! read more

We were completely disappointed with this restaurant based on the former Yelp reviews. There was good flavor with both dishes; however, there was very little meat for both dishes. The sofrito bowl had mostly rice and maybe 2 ounces of pork in the dish. I ordered the large as I was told that the large had more meat than the small. I'd hate to see how much meat would come with small. We won't be back. read more

Hands down my favorite spot in Cocoa Beach! I'm slightly obsessed with their sofrito bowl; chicken for me, my husband usually gets the pork. It has such an interesting fusion of flavors, just love the creation.The last time we were visiting the area, I ate there twice over the weekend, it's that insanely delicious. In addition to the awesome food, it has a laid-back vibe, awesome music and cool/retro games you can play while waiting on your food - which comes out pretty fast anyway. The staff are very attentive as well, always checking on you for refills, etc. All in all, it's an awesome place and I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

Was stoked to try this after seeing other reviews and pictures. Was completely disappointed when my experience wasn't properly executed. Both the wife and I ordered the quinoa bowl. The taste was a solid five - delish, fresh, and complex flavors. However, looking at the pics others posted we each got one small (one cup, maybe?) of quinoa with cabbage and sprouts - that's it. There wasn't anything else in the bowl. No kale, no beans, nothing else. Again, small little scoop, hardly worth the $10 they charge. They didn't prepare it to menu specifications and it didn't look anything like the pictures. Also, ordered chips, salsa, and guac and was told they were saving the guac for other things. Um, I'm here, I ordered, and I'm paying for guac, what are you saving it for. Maybe I just had a one off experience, because I wanted to like this place but it really fell short. read more

I don't even want to post this review cause I want to keep this gem to myself. This restaurant is wonderful. It's not just the freshness but also the combinations and blends of ingredients. Not the same old "island" menu. Had the bowl with chicken...yum! Beware the hot sauce but do ask for it. The Turtle is on our restaurant rotation from now on! read more

The food was tasty, the service was below average. My sister and I had never gone before and we're from California; she's not used to the style of food they had and asked questions about it. The server didn't seem knowledgeable and didn't give her a good understanding. The food didn't come out as she wanted since she didn't get asked about the side choices. She didn't eat her sides and pulled them out of the bowl because they were ones she didn't like and wouldn't have ordered had she known. She asked the server about them and the server didn't seem to care that my sister didn't like them or offer an alternative. The service just wasn't good. We were one of two tables and were mostly ignored. I understand my sister is a bit picky, but she was polite about it when she was asking questions. The server seemed irritated when she asked. I'm in the industry and I understand overly picky people and how the server handled her was not great. My sister wasn't being rude at all, but the server acted as if she was. It was very disappointing. The quinoa bowl I had was pretty good though. read more

This place was adorable and served up delicious food! A short walk off the beach for a great meal and great atmosphere. Staff was super friendly and kind but be prepared to wait for your order, everything is made to order fresh so it takes a while. We waited 30 minutes for our sandwiches but it was well worth it! read more

Non crowded off the beaten path lunch spot. We were thrilled to find a local spot to enjoy some delicious pork and chicken tacos. Fresh ingredients and cold beer really hit the spot after a week of eating rich cruise foods. Friendly service and comfy outdoor booths. The perfect combination of Caribbean flavors wows you from first bite to last. The small shrimp sofrito bowl was delicious and came with two sides for only $8.99. I chose the salsa and chips. Probably the best salsa I've ever had. So fresh and flavorful, and not too spicy. The plantain chips made a nice side to this wonderful dish. Wait staff are friendly and helpful. Went here for the first time and I wasn't disappointed. It's one of those hidden gem little places! It's right near Cocoa Beach so if your hungry after Beach Day you have to stop by in. I recommend the wraps, especially the Mahi. read more

History

Established in 2013.

Inspired by his Grandmother's and Mother's cooking, the flavorful Sofrito base of Puerto Rico, and his own restaurant experiences, Chef Moises has created a menu and environment that will transport you to an island experience full of flavor and a laid back feeling. Opening during the famed Art Show that happens every year in Downtown Cocoa Beach as what was called Food Truck Style, being just a kitchen on the back of a building with a patio and picnic tables for seating, it has now evolved into a full service restaurant but still giving that feeling of a small local "Hidden Gem".

Meet the Business Owner: Moises y Kelly C.

Born in Puerto Rico Moises' family moved to Florida in the 80's spending the first couple years in South Florida and then relocating to Central Florida. Always having the dream of owning his own restaurant he was given the opportunity after meeting a good friend a couple years after moving to Cocoa Beach. He had spent 2 years prior to the start of The Tiny Turtle gaining knowledge and experience in the restaurant field. Each opportunity he grew into lead cook, managing the kitchen and creating new menu items. He has been surrounded by many, including his wife Kelly, that have all had a part at helping him fulfill his dream and is forever grateful for the love and support.

Overall, this place might be better for fried baskets and like fish and chips rather than fresh seafood experience. Also considering it is on the cape/island you do have to drive out a long way on a single road to get to it, so that might have also influenced my expectations. Again the service is good and nice if you do want to support a local business. Just for the price and repertoire, maybe I had higher expectations.

AMAZING! After a long day at the pier we wanted something healthy and filling. We were looking for Jamaican and came across The Tiny Turtle... what a brilliant find. My family and I have been coming here since they first opened. We absolutely love their food, service, staff and atmosphere. The Owners are one of the nicest and most generous people I know in Cocoa Beach. Their pork and mahi sofrito bowls are to die for. So delish! Taco Tuesdays are still our fave time to come! Staff wear masks and plenty of outdoor seating. we also love that they are environmentally/ocean friendly and that is so important to our family and out community!
