American food with a twist: if you're craving an antelope burger, then this is the place to go. They usually have a featured burger with some sort of uncommon meat. Currently it is an elk burger. The burgers themselves are pretty simple. You can add cheese, mushrooms, or onions for an extra price, but otherwise most burgers just come with lettuce, tomato, and sauce. I don't know what magic they're doing in the kitchen but the burgers melt in your mouth! The meat is super tender and juicy and the buns are super soft. At the same time, the burgers are able to hold their shape. The fries which come with the burger and sandwich orders are crispy and the seasoning is amazing. After a stressful MA General appointment it was awesome to find Tip Tap across the street. Great steak tips and even better staff. Coming from Seattle it was refreshing to see the pride in an establishment where the door man was happily keeping the premise clean and free from trash. Seattle needs to learn from this. Had the pleasure of staying near this location, and with so many options nearby and overall in a new city, I am so glad we picked this one! Most write this off as standard american food, but it has exactly what too much american food is missing, FLAVOR. Starting with the calamari, super fresh, and blown away by the use of shishito peppers and lemon yogurt sauce versus the standard marinara. The way this comes off, you may believe we have been doing calamari wrong this entire time. The clam chowder was a must for me at any place I visited for food. Again, this was a different take that I enjoyed only slightly less than others. Where I am accustomed to a very rich creaminess, this only fell a little short but this in order to deliver to you something different than what ever single new england restaurant had to offer. As a clam chowder, a little off, but amazing as a soup especially when you factor in the presentation. Soup drip. What I was most excited about was the south african rubbed rib eye and when you read the description its just flavor, flavor, flavor. Some places try this and then the components of the meal are too separate to be good together. I am not sure what they marinate their steak tips in or how they made their sesame soy dressing.... but it was one of the most delicious salads I've ever had! My boyfriend tried their wild boar shoulder cuban sandwich, and kept raving about how it was the best cuban sandwich he had ever had! Found myself looking for a brunch place near MGH and saw this at the top of my search results. Our party of four arrived on a Sunday afternoon and were immediately seated. The space is quite modern, with large windows that open during the summer and exposed ceilings. If you're seated at the bar, you get a great view of the kitchen as well. I found the brunch menu a little basic, which was disappointing given the chalkboard menus were advertising wild game specials. I ended up ordering the chorizo, brussels sprouts, and corned beef hash ($15) which came with fried eggs and some salsa verde. The eggs were cooked well but the hash was a bit salty for my preference. Overall, my brunch experience at Tip Tap Room was satisfactory but I didn't find myself particularly wowed by anything. However, this place is more well-known for their craft beer selection and steak tips (hence the name of the restaurant) so I may return for lunch/dinner service, which I hope will be more exciting. read more

A Little Odd I came here recently and enjoyed their beer selection. They have a nice selection of local, national, and international beers. Unfortunately, the atmosphere isn't one that I prefer. It's very wide open and sterile feeling. The kind of place you expect many suits to come after getting off work in the financial district. Nothing necessarily wrong with it, but not my preference. I didn't have the chance to eat any of the main meals (just an order of Brussel Sprouts and giant cauliflower head) the apps were just ok. The weirdest part is our bartender had to have the worst personality and the place has like 40 beers on tap, but no one was drinking them. There was also a tender ribeye which our helpful bartender was enthusiastic about explaining the provenance from a North Carolina farm. The beers aren't inexpensive, but reasonable. The food is a relative bargain with just about everything on the menu under $25. Lunch with two colleagues today, the service was quite good. Refilling drinks while we waited for number three to arrived and then clearing the tables when we were done. I chose the day's special, a "Wild Boar Tacos" which was two nice sized tortillas topped with lettuce, salsa and cilantro with a nice amount of pulled pork aka "wild boar." After being seated and immediately placing drink and an appetizer order, it seemed like the ideal dinner experience. After receiving our first round of drinks and fried calamari, we then waited for an hour for a server to return. During that time, no attempts to check-in on our table, ask for other beverages, or offers to place entree orders occurred. This was the case unfortunately even after repeated attempts to politely ask for the server to take our order. Bread was good with the sauce though. The cauliflower came out in a big bunch, it was pretty good but not a must have. The wings were delicious. Probably the item I liked the most. A good balanced flavor and not overly dry. The brussel sprouts were very flavorful but too mushy for my taste. For drinks, I'm not much of a beer drinker and it was lunch time so I ordered the sangria. It was a clean fruity flavor. Slightly sweet and did not have an overly wined out taste. Show a little respect to the climate and stop wasting so much energy. Food: nothing to write home though the cauliflower burger was meh and dry. The fries tasted okay. The fried zucchini was crispy though. Instead of bigger portions if the food tasted half as good I would have bumped up 1 more star. Drinks: cocktails were watered down. Tip Tap is not tip-top. I do not understand the glowing reviews for this place at all, we came here for dinner last night and I immediately wished we'd stayed at the place where we had pregamed. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the hostess was lovely. Aside from that, it disappointed on all counts in food, service and atmosphere, but especially the food. I've had better food in middle school Home Ec class. You can make reservations, which is a great idea considering it's a Saturday night in Boston. We were seated quickly, and they had opened the windows because it was so warm out. The hostess asked if that was ok, and it was fine at first, but as the night went on it got windier and things kept blowing around. It took us 15 minutes for a waiter to show up and take our drink order, 15 minutes for the drinks to appear, then another 20 minutes for him to come back to take our food order. He never gave us specials or asked us how we were, or anything a waiter would typically ask. My beer was lukewarm but I didn't want to waste any more time asking for a new one. My meal had no flavor at all, I got the chicken tips that come with a Yuzu sauce and cucumber slaw and there was nothing resembling Yuzu or slaw on the plate. It was a few diced vegetables and kernels of corn, and like two or three leaves of wilted spinach. There was more rice on the plate than anything else, and the portion was still on the smaller side. The only redeeming quality was that the chicken was moist and nicely cooked, but this was a meal that anyone could have prepared at home for a fraction of the cost.
